Danny DeVito to return to View for Whoopi Goldberg’s first day

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

danny-devito.jpg

One of the most talked about guests on The View last season will return to the show on September 4th for Whoopi Goldberg’s premiere day as moderator. Danny DeVito, whose last appearance was marked by his odd behavior after a hard night of drinking Limoncellos with George Clooney, will be the show’s first guest of the new season. If you missed it, the video of his last appearance is here.

ABC also announced that the other guests for premiere week will be Larry David, Clive Owen, Tim Gunn, Rachael Ray and Regis Philbin. I will let you all know the official schedule and dates when that information becomes available.

The official Whoopi Goldberg welcome party has begun at The View, as the first promotional photo has been released. The photo, above, shows Whoopi with regular cast members Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and a pregnant Elisabeth Hasselbeck. According to People magazine, the search for the fifth host “could take a while” and “right now, it’s all about Whoopi.”

Whoopi begins her new gig as moderator on September 4th.

Nine Year Old Maria Lark To Co-Host View

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I just read on the official View website that nine-year-old Maria Lark, from Medium, will be the youngest person ever to co-host The View. The episode has likely already been recorded because it will air on Monday September 3rd, Labor Day, which is before the show returns from hiatus and Whoopi Goldberg joins the panel.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Maria Lark, she is an adorable, funny, and precocious kid. Below is a video of when Maria was on The View as a guest in May of 2006.

The View from Memory Lane: Bill O’Reilly

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Continuing with The View trip down memory lane, here is a video clip of Bill O’Reilly when he was a guest on The View last October. The interview with Rosie O’Donnell and the other hosts was fairly civil. It is interesting to watch it now, knowing that O’Reilly would soon after begin his several months long campaign to get Rosie fired from The View.

The View from Memory Lane: Danny DeVito

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

As The View continues its hiatus, I thought I would start posting some memorable clips from the show. Who can forget the clip below from last November when Danny DeVito appeared on the show after a hard night of drinking with George Clooney?

Whoopi Goldberg on Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Here is a funny video from when new View host Whoopi Goldberg appeared on the show Whose Line is it Anyway? I am not sure the exact date of the clip, but I believe it is from 2001 or 2002. She plays the “Questions Only” game with fellow contestants Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie.

Star Jones rings the NASDAQ Opening Bell

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

star-jones-nasdaq.jpg

Star Jones rang the NASDAQ opening bell this morning as part of the ongoing publicity tour for her new show on Court TV, which debuted yesterday. I had my TiVo set to record the debut episode of Star Jones yesterday, but when I went to watch it, it was not there. Maybe my TiVo is loyal to Barbara Walters? Did any of you watch it? What did you think?

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Here is a video from a 2002 special about Gilda Radner in which Barbara Walters talks about Gilda’s impersonation of her on Saturday Night Live. It also contains old clips of Radner discussing the character, as well as a clip from SNL.

Barbara Walters Attends Screening of The Good Night

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Keeping busy during her vacation from The View, Barbara Walters attended a screening of the new film The Good Night over the weekend. The screening was sponsored by The Cinema Society and The Wall Street Journal. The film, which was written and directed by Jake Paltrow, the brother of Gwyneth Paltrow, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and includes such stars as Penelope Cruz, Danny DeVito, and Gwyneth herself.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Interview from 2001

Friday, August 17th, 2007

I found this cute interview with Elisabeth Hasselbeck (then Filarski) on Craig Kilborn. It took place in 2001 after she was voted off Survivor. Her husband (then fiance) Tim makes an appearance. There is one very funny part where Craig shows a clip of “highlights” of Tim’s football career at Boston College.
