The View April 30th: Daytime Emmy Award Nominations
Wednesday, April 30th, 2008Today on The View, they will be announcing the nominees for the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, April 30, nominees for the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be announced live on The View! Tune in for a soap-studded affair: Look for All My Children’s Rebecca Budig and Cameron Mathison (Greenlee Smythe and Ryan Lavery), One Life to Live’s Farah Fath and John-Paul Lavoisier (Gigi Morasco and Rex Balsom), The Biggest Loser host Allison Sweeney and her Days of our Lives co-star Bryan Dattilo (Sami DiMera and Lucas Horton), As The World Turns’ Van Hansis (Luke Snyder) and Guiding Light’s Marcy Rylan (Lizzie Spaulding) to participate. Plus: People magazine senior writer Mark D’Agostino will be on hand to give commentary and predictions based on the nominations.
The 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcast LIVE on ABC Friday, June 20. The ceremony will be held in the Kodak Theater in Hollywood—the same place that houses the Academy Awards every year. The View has received 22 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show. Watch to see if the show and the ladies are up for the honor once again!


The first 22 minutes of The View was preempted today by a President Bush news conference. When the show was joined already in progress, they were at the tail end of a conversation about binkies. That ended almost immediately and went to commercial. Anyone in Canada or in a different time zone not affected by the preemption, please post in the comments about what they talked about! Hopefully ABC will post the clips later today. 

Sherri Shepherd did the March for Babies walk this weekend for the March of Dimes, along with her son Jeffrey, who was born prematurely, and her estranged husband Jeff. She said that they got along really well. Joy Behar said that no matter what if you have a kid together, you can’t get rid of the ex-husband. Sherri said that she found herself wondering why she and her husband are separated. Whoopi asked her if she finally remembered. She said yes. Joy said that sometimes you look at the kid and it is easier to forgive if you think you should be together for the sake of the kid. Elisabeth said that she gives Sherri a lot of credit for how she has handled the whole situation. Sherri said that everyday she works on forgiveness. Joy joked that it was her second job.

The first topic on The View today was that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is concerned that people are voting for Hillary Clinton because she is a woman or Barack Obama just because he is Black. Joy Behar said that they have pretty much the same platform so that could be how people chose between them. Sherri Shepherd pointed out that there have been other Black candidates who did not get as far, so it is more than just Black people voting for him because he is Black. She said that he is very qualified and she is proud to see a Black man go so far and be in such a place of power.
