Reminder: Rosie O’Donnell’s Movie Airs Saturday
Friday, February 27th, 2009
Just a reminder that Rosie O’Donnell’s new Lifetime movie America airs Saturday, February 28th at 9:00pm eastern time.
Rosie has been on television the past week promoting the show. I just watched her on The Bonnie Hunt Show and I thought it was a great interview. It lasted several segments and included conversations about her family, the movie, as well as her new crafting obsession: Munny.
During the interview she said that she discovered the young actor who plays America in the film when she saw him eating a diner with his family. He had no previous acting experience, but she convinced him to audition and he nailed the part.
She also talked about how her daughter Vivi apparently has a great gift for gymnastics.
Rosie was also on The Tyra Banks Show, but for some reason my DVR taped different episodes of Tyra and I am confused how that happened. Instead of Rosie, I got some sort of dating episode. I have found some clips of it online, but not the whole interview.
Feel free to comment here about any interviews you have seen with Rosie or about what you think of the movie after it airs tomorrow!
Today on this prerecorded episode of The View, the four main hosts were present. (Ever notice how Barbara Walters is a lot more scarce when she doesn’t have a special to promote?) The first topic was the fact Clint Eastwood said in a recent interview that he missed the days that he could make jokes based on ethnicity. Joy Behar said that he said that he gave the interview to a German newspaper and talked about Jews. Sherri Shepherd said that she would like to know what the minority feels about the jokes as a measure of whether it appropriate. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that causally tossing around racial terms or sexist terms, there is not a place for that. Whoopi asked what about comedy, saying Don Rickles does it well. Sherri said that the person at butt of the joke might not think he does it well. Elisabeth said at least you know where people stand as opposed to when people are PC and hiding what they really feel. Whoopi said that do we all have certain feelings like that, noting that she was driving in her car and screamed at an old person who was driving too slow. Sherri said that no one can say they have not said something bad when they are alone. Joy said it is okay for her to joke about Italians because she is one, but it is not okay for others to do so.
Here is the schedule for The View for March 2nd-6th, subject to change:
Today on The View, Whoopi Goldberg returned from her trip to Los Angeles where she attended the Academy Awards. Barbara Walters was not present. They came out onto the stage to “Lady Marmalade” and Whoopi had to sing some of it. Sherri Shepherd tried to sing it, too, but she did not know the words.
Today on The View it was Barbara Walters as moderator again, as Whoopi Goldberg is still in the process of driving home from Los Angeles on her bus. Barbara made sure to point out that the song they walked out to was Tom Jones. Whoopi e-mailed the hosts a photo of a dog saying that she still looks good despite the partying and travel.
Today on The View, Barbara Walters acted as moderator because Whoopi Goldberg is on her way back (via bus) from Los Angeles, where she participated in the Academy Awards. They all thought she looked great last night. (I disagree. You can see pictures in a post I did last night). They all complained how about long the Oscar ceremony was on. Joy Behar liked Tina Fey and Steve Martin. Elisabeth Hasselbeck thought Hugh Jackman did a great job. Barbara thinks that Joy and Sherri should do the show. Sherri said that the show had the “Obama effect“ because there were a lot of Black people participating in the show. Barbara said that is because there are so many more than there were before. (Black people?) Joy said that she did not notice. Sherri said that she noticed because she is used to seeing the lack of Black people.

Today on The View, which was pre-taped, all five hosts were present. The first topic was how excited Whoopi Goldberg is because Tyler Perry is on the show today. Sherri Shepherd said that she went to the premiere yesterday of Madea Goes to Jail and it was so funny that people probably wanted to tell her to stop laughing. (Pictures of her at the premiere are
Here is the schedule for The View for next week, February 23rd-27th, subject to change. I am sure that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is quite excited that the latest Bachelor will be on the show. Also, per Whoopi Goldberg’s suggestion, they are going to be having a “mutt dog show.”

Today scheduled guests on Today on The View, all five hosts were present. The first topic was the controversial comic in the New York Post that shows police shooting a chimpanzee with the caption that they will have to find someone else to sign the next stimulus bill. Whoopi said that the paper is getting a lot of controversy because of the racist connotations in the cartoon. Barbara Walters said, “Because it’s a black monkey.” (What the??) Elisabeth Hasselbeck said it was like when Lebron James was on Vogue cover looking like King Kong. She said that she does not understand why it is so hard to be mindful of things that are offensive and stereotypes. Barbara said even portraying the president as a wild animal is offensive. Whoopi said it was the caption that made it connect to the president and without the caption no one would have a problem with it. (Thank you, Ms. Obvious).
