American Idol “mad at” The View
On Wednesday’s show, Rosie O’Donnell said that “American Idol is mad at us!” She gave that as the reason why AI won’t give The View clips of their show to air during the hot topics segment. Rosie talked in the past about how the early rounds of the show were humiliating to contestants and she gave her opinion that Paula Abdul was possibly intoxicated on air. Apparently the last straw for AI, however, was Tuesday’s discussion about whether the decision to not remove Antonella Barba from the show, when another contestant was removed several years ago under similar circumstances, was racist or “weightest.”
Also on Wednesday, Rosie posted this entry on her blog. Apparently American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe made some negative comments about Rosie. Rosie alludes to how it is similar to when she was on Star Search in the 1980s. I wonder if she was told at that time that she would not succeed because she was overweight? I looked into who the “Sam R” in her blog entry might be and discovered that Sam Riddle was the announcer for Star Search and also did some producing for the show. I am not sure if that is who she is referring to or what this person said to her. Anyone else have any other interpretations of what she says below?

“Ms. O’Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge. Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that AMERICAN IDOL constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color.”
