Barack Obama on The View: A Preview

Although ABC won’t air the episode of The View featuring Barack Obama until Friday, clips of the interview are now available at ABC. There are three clips posted, adding up to about two minutes total.
Although she was too sick to attend the morning taping of the show on Thursday, Joy Behar made it for the Barack interview later in the day.
I am sure that one part of the interview that many people will focus on is when Barbara Walters admitted to Barack Obama that they all find him sexy. You knew she would go there, didn’t you?
Here is the transcript of the three clips, provided by ABC:
REVEREND WRIGHT
BARBARA WALTERS: When I just talked about you saying no member…anybody doing that wouldn’t be working for me and you said its because the reverend has retired. Had the reverend not retired, were he still there, would you then have left the church or have said I just can’t have anything to do with him?
BARACK OBAMA: Had the reverend not retired. Had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws, then I wouldn’t have felt comfortable staying at the church.
I UNDERSTAND YOU’RE RELATED TO BRAD PITT IN SOME WAY?
JOY BEHAR: I understand you’re related to Brad Pitt in some way (laughter).
BARACK OBAMA: Yeah
JB: How are you related to Brad Pitt?
BO: I guess we are ninth cousins something removed or something
JB: Isn’t that fascinating stuff!
BO: I think he got the better looking side of the gene pool.
JB: Not necessarily.
BARBARA WALTERS: Joy and I were saying just before you came out….maybe we shouldn’t say this.
JB: Go ahead!
BW: We thought you were very sexy looking (applause). Don’t you think so? (to audience)
BO: I like that that. Thank you.
I’M SKINNY BUT TOUGH
JOY BEHAR: I have a question for you. When John Kerry was running for office I said to him in a similar situation are you going to be able to withstand the attach machine on the Republican side and he said absolutely I’ll be able to handle it You know, because it going to come at you and then he was swift voted and as you can see he is not our president
BARACK OBAMA: I noticed (laughter).
JB: I ask you the same question. I want to know how tough are you?
BO: I’m skinny, but I’m tough (laughter). I think the way to handle a text, wherever their coming from, and there have been some tough punches thrown in this Democratic primary. It’s not like I’m been taking a cake walk through this primary. The way I like to handle a text is to answer honestly, swiftly, forcefully and truthfully. I think the truth is a powerful weapon.

I’ll watch, but peeking between my fingers. I’m cringing at them squandering the time with stupid sexy questions.
In the preview clip WQG looked mortified at the Brad Pitt question.

The ones who said nothing had nothing to say. Leave it up to Elizabeth again!!
When he mentioned America and all it’s flaws, why did you not jump on him. Do you not realize that he and his wife do not like this country and mention it at every opportunity they have???
Also, please can one of you bring up Black Racism?? Blacks are very biased against whites. I learned this when I was 20. I always thought we were so horrible to them. I worked with a black man when I was 21yrs old. He was mean for no reason to me. I was a blonde cutie who would say “how are you tonight?” He would never speak to me. Finally, I said to him you are upset with me because I am white!!. Surprise for me.
I know you won’t read this, but you should.
Thank You,

When will Senator Hillary Clinton receive the equal time, the equal hoop-la, and equal billing on the View?

Okay let me get this straight. A guy who is biracial is a racist? Does he hate the African American side or the white side? For the last seven years we’ve seen how much Bush and the Republicans “LOVE” America…Lets see:
There’s the war that has cost us lives, money and our good standing in the world.
There’s the bad economy.
There’s the torturing of other human beings.
Stepping on the constitution.
Nothing says I love you like soiling the reputation of your country.
True love means being able to see flaws and not willing to live with those flaws, but pushing the one you love to their full potential.
Which is what Obama wants for his country. He knows that this country can’t live up to her full potential as long as there is racism among other things.

Patricia,
Sen. Clinton appeared on The View October 2007.
She received equal time, equal hoop-la and equal billing

So following your reasoning, a racist is a person who does not speak to white people.
If that’s the case, and Sen. Obama is a racist, wouldn’t he not talk to whites?
Is it possible that your personality was off putting to your black co-worker, and that is why he chose not to engage in a conversation with you?

Leslie: It’s pretty sad that your one experience with one black man generalized for you that all blacks hate whites. Is this the only black person you have ever had contact with? And as far as Obama and his wife mentioning this country has flaws–of course it does! All countries have flaws. All people have flaws. If you were a member of an oppressed minority you would understand, but as a member of the dominant majority, you don’t get it. What’s great is when people like Obama go to work to preserve the great things about this country and improve the things that need improving. I get the feeling you aren’t very aware of the ills in this country. Maybe you should read more. There’s nothing unpatriotic about wanting the country to be the best it can be! We have so much work to do re: the misguided war having now killed 4,000 of our hard-working men and women, health care, international relations, the environment, etc. etc. Don’t be afraid to be constructively critical about our great land. I think if you didn’t hear the passion Obama has for America you weren’t listening carefully. Maybe read one of his books and you’ll get to know the man better rather than siezing some sound bite from conservatives and repeating it.

I wish I’d been a fly on the wall during this exchange.
