Barbara Walters Attends Opening Night of the Met

by Winnie McCarthy

Barbara Walters attended the Metropolitan Opera 125th Season Opening Night Gala last night. Barbara told a local television station present at the event that “To have someone as beautiful and with a magnificent voice as Renee Flemming, it makes it very special.”

Barbara attended the same event last year. Here are some photos of Barbara at the event this year. The man with her in one of the photos is captioned as Sir Howard Stringer, the Chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation.

She appears to have worn the same dress that she wore to the Daytime Emmy Awards, although the color looks just slightly different. That is probably because these newer photographs were taken outdoors. It also looks like she removed the embellishment from the top of the dress and wore a choker instead. I added a photo of her at the Emmys at the end for comparison.

  1. Stacee Says:

I thought this dress looked familiar!
Still, she looks fabulous in it.
IMO, she always dresses so nice, and without looking like she is trying too hard.

  2. Roger from Ohio Says:

OMG… her date looks like John Gibson. The idiot that got fired from Fox News.

  3. rainlillie Says:

I agree, Stacee she looks very nice.

  4. Sandy Woodward Says:

    Yep same dress.

I agree she looks fabulous in it.

I wonder how many penguin suits Sir Howard Stringer has hanging in his closet. And I am sure it costs Barbara twice as much to have her dress cleaned than it does for any tux.

I can’t stand the inequity of the sexes at the dry cleaners.

  5. Teresa Says:

Yes looks like the same dress to me as well, I like the choker, but think a simple pair of diamond stud earrings instead of the hoops would have been nicer

  6. Sandy Woodward Says:

    Teresa,

    I agree with you.

  7. sharon Says:

I am glad to see she will wear a dress more than once.

  8. Meredith Says:

I find this expectation in our culture that celebrity women who buy very expensive clothes and then wear them only once ridiculous. An outfit that costs thousands for one appearance? What incredible wastefulness. What happens to all those clothes after the one viewing?

  9. JEANNE OHR Says:

Barbara what has happened to your show,
the class and wonderful discussions it started out with is gone. Joy has seen to that, she called Sara Palin DUMB two days ago and that is appalling, sick actually.
Joy is too oppinionated, she is abrasive,
bold, offensive, loud and rude. It’s one thing to support a candidate of your choice
but that should not give you the right to
birate and try to humiliate the opposition.
Sad to say your show has lost a great deal
of it’s class. This is no way to show that
you are in a position of power. It’s sick
the way they all talk at once and scream
and as for Sherri she makes faces at Elizabeth when she does not agree and she
is hell bent on bring up the racial subject
all the time. This is never going to go
away until everyone see themselves as equal. We did not live thru the slave days and they are never coming back thank God.
So let’s stop acting like we lived it we did not as well as we never lived thru the horror of coming to Ellis Island without
a dime and being separated from your family and children. Let’s be happy for where we are and what we have here in American which by the way is the greatest place ever.
Thanks for listening. I think Joy is
    irrate.
    j
