Barbara Walters has hurt feelings over Rosie’s book
In her Ask-Ro section of her blog, Rosie stated that Barbara Walters was upset by what Rosie wrote about her in her new book Celebrity Detox.
What did BW think of ur book?
it hurt her feelings
According to Perez Hilton, Rosie says the following in her book:
And Barbara. At some point, a person gets tired. It’s inevitable. Barbara Walters is almost twice my age. At some point it becomes necessary to step back. Everyone has to go. Going is part of the gig…
I would be less-than-honest if I were to say that there is no trouble between Barbara and I. I mean, our differences are obvious.
Rosie also reportedly said in her book that during commercial breaks on The View, audience members would sometimes shout, “I love you, Rosie” and Barbara told them, “It is impolite to say I love you to one person when there are four of us up here.”
Barbara said that “Rosie sent me the book with a note telling me how much she loved me. I have read the book – and I would like to concentrate on the love that she sent.”
The book comes out October 9th.

Rosie was too real for the phonies on the View. The fight she had with EH, wasn’t about politics it was about friendship.
Rosie was naive enough to believe that EH was her friend. When EH embraced the people on Fox who attacked Rosie relentlessly, Rosie realized that EH wasn’t her real friend, just her tv friend.
I was never a fan of BW’s, I always thought she was overrated, in any case she was hurt because Rosie told the truth.
Which is rare for celebrities to do. I think BW is very cunning and untrustworthy. She was behind Star getting the boot and I think she played a huge part in what happened to Rosie.

I still can’t believe that Barbara W didn’t/ fire Elizabeth H and keep the best person the view has ever had. How about Rosie starting a type of view show herself.
think of this panel, rosie, woopie, kathie lee gifford, and guest comedians. think about it rosie and come back to tv, we miss you.

Your guys called it. Why the hell is Elizabeth still on TV? With all of Rosie’s faults, at least Rosie was REAL. Its weird, I miss her, honesty. I can’t believe I dislike EH so much…its like when you know someone cheated on a test and they go on to graduate, when they really don’t deserve it.
Am I alone out here or is there a shared sense of animosity towards EH?

I cannot stand EH! To be arrogant and stupid is a bad combination. The View will never again be as good as when Rosie was part of it.

EH kept her job by kissing a$$. Rosie was called a bully by some, because she’s overweight. EH was looked at as being the victim. As women we all know that size doesn’t matter when it comes to being nasty and mean.
Rosie really was a breath of fresh air. She may have put her foot in her mouth at times, but it was real and never rehearsed. She made the viewers feel as though they were a part of the show.
I also like the fact that she showed middle America that gays and lesbians have the same wants. needs and fears as everyone else.
She and Kellie had the same problems that any other couples have. I think BW grew up in a time when women were told to look pretty and be quiet. I really hope Rosie finds her way back to TV , we really need her voice now… To try to bring our troops home and bring some sanity back to this country. Like her or not she made people think.

I’m firmly on the “can’t stand EH” bandwagon. Triple loved it today when Whoopi called her on the Monica comment and even BW went after her on the fact that she’s down on every Democrat who ever drew breath. EH is a brain dead Stepford Wife.

I am completely with you guys on the Elizabeth thing…she’s a bobblehead, nothing sincere or real about her. The way she acts most the time grates on my nerves to the level I can’t even watch the show. She seems like the kind of person that is forever stuck in high school mode and thinks the world is completely about keeping her spot at the popular table.
And BW seems like she could have birthed and raised her, she has the same personality. Smile to your face but watch out because she’ll bury that knife in your back the first chance she gets if it protects or benefits herself.

The only thing that bugs me is that I hate “hating” on a person. I think the best thing they (THe View) could do is to take her off. She needs to be with her people. You know like Hannity’s and O’Reilly’s. Yea, they would welcome her with open arms. From what I read on the blog, she is not right for the view. It might be her inability to listen to anyone else’s view but hers or the Christian Right. ( no offense for the regular Christians, just the Planned Parenthood haters)

Exactly Jess…when I’m watching her, it doesn’t feel like she is a part of the conversation or receptive to other’s opinions…it just seems like she is waiting for a break (if she even waits) so she can say her rehearsed opinions and she sits there with that holier than thou demeaner like hers is the only opinion on the panel that deserves to be heard. I would LOVE to see her replaced. And as much as I like to Kathy Griffin, probably not her because it wouldn’t be that balanced with too many comedians on the panel. But just someone interesting and not so full of herself.

Rosie didn’t say anything about BW that surprising. She sounds more like she’s worried about BW’s well-being than telling her to retire. BW does come off as over the hill on the show. She should just check in once a month and let the other co-hosts find their footing.

Elisabeth is prepped and fed neocon propoganda from Bill Geddie. She rambles on and on, interrupts, and talks over everybody. She doesn’t have a “conversation” she distracts with the Republican talking points. She is untalented, a mouthpiece (the Republicans are notorious for having “mouthpieces” e.g. GW Bush), and adds nothing original to the show….and they wanted a uniquely gifted artist like Rosie to go……..beyond belief.

“She seems like the kind of person that is forever stuck in high school mode and thinks the world is completely about keeping her spot at the popular table.”
Excellent point!

EH’s biggest contributions:
1. Discussing her bathroom habits; 2. Flashing her pregnant belly; 3. Arguing with Rosie; 4. Spewing rehearsed neocon rhetoric about the war; 5. Reminding people that she is a “designer” and that she was on “Survivor” to establish professional credibility; and 6. Kissing BW’s rear end whenever she appears on the show.
#6 is the only reason why she stays.

EH Leave: I noticed that you caught that too! “I’m a fashion designer…I’m a fashion designer…” She comes off as a stay- at- homer that watches Hannity and Colmes all day..As a design student, I abhore the fact that she basically brags about being a designer…It kills me to laughter. Does this woman have no humility? That white dress was deplorable and I doubt anyone would really buy her shit.

Okay I read the quotes. It’s really not THAT bad. It seems Rosie is saying Barb is tired and maybe it’s time to go???
Personally, I don’t think they were as lovey dovey as they tried to imply on the show. I do feel Rosie respected Barb, but they were just too different.
I can’t wait to read the book in it’s entirety. It might put the quotes in context.

I don’t think BW welcomed Rosie at the View wholeheartedly. It was good for the show and good for the ratings. A little too good, she later learned.

Like Jess said, I really don’t like hating EH. I liked her well enough at one point because I believed her enthusiasm for many of the guests was real, and I thought she at times seemed to at least consider another view when Rosie & she disagreed. Now, that seems like I must have been dreaming or else it was wishful thinking. I’m now thinking she (to be fair, like many celebs–and many regular people) knows which side her bread is buttered on (or whatever that cliche is) and knows it is in her best interest to suck up to people. I recall she really has gone out of her way to praise some people–most recently, Glenn Close. It is also in her best interests to be the antithesis of Rosie as she presses her points.
My big beef is that her high-speed monologues (she really is a motor mouth) that repeat the right wing’s talking points is dangerous if left unchallenged. It would be best as Jess said if she’d just go on over to Fox and join the others like her. And let The View get a well-informed, intelligent right winger. There are surely some who have not modeled their discussion style after the Fox model.
Interesting what Elsie said about BW not really welcoming Rosie. I confess I don’t know what to believe about Babs. I admit I am reluctant to criticize her because of her role in opening doors for women in broadcasting. But I do understand how she can impede the show…. I still don’t know what I think really happened with Star Jones and witih Rosie and Trump and Rosie and EH.
Rosie’s comments about Babs are the same ones she has used on her blog to defend Babs when people write in and say nasty things about her. I never thought she was being negative, but just trying to say people should cut Babs some slack because she is much older & of a different mind-set, etc. I can see how Babs wouldn’t want to read that about herself in print, though. From what I have read about her, and Diane Sawyer, too, both are extremely reluctant to retire, ever. I read where they would do anything to remain on camera no matter what. This was when there was a lot of media attention on ABC when everyone was jockeying for position when the nightly news anchor spot opened up.
Rosie is getting crucified in the press for all the quotes coming out from her book. The one thing I have learned about her is that I will never take any bad press about her at face value again. I will read her book myself and read and watch her comments on her blog. … Like Rainlilie said, she really did a lot of good when she was on the show.

I thought this particular piece was about Barbara’s feelings about Rosie’s book, not EH?
So what if her feeling were hurt, no one likes reading negative things about themselves. I think she is respectful of Rosie,..and I’m not sure if it is up to rosie to tell her how tired she is.
As for EH. I like her, and I agree with a lot of her views. I also like Rosie, and I admire her passion in expressing her views.
I’d also like to say that you don’t have to watch FOX to agree with or understnad EH’s view’s…I don’t, and never have.
I also feel it’s wrong to dislike someone because of their political views.
September 17th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
Most of her views are not about policy but are social views.
The political views projected are not even her own, but basically a “lip-synch” of FOX. If she quoted some notable text as fact, I could consider her views as credible. But because she doesn’t, I regard her as a fool. It has nothing to do with her political view. Not a left wing loon or a religious crazed right…just a moderate constituent who believes in the Constitution.
Sandy—It’s always okay to not like someone. This is still America. However, when EH only includes people/ views that agree with her as her source of information, she makes known her arrogance, ignorance and does her viewers a tremendous disservice.

to jess,
I agree it is always okay to not like someone. …I’ve read a little bit more than dislike in some of the comments.
I watch the same show as you,.i guess we each see & preceive some things differently.

That’s cool. We agree to disagree. Thanks for the response!

So glad I am not alone in despising EH on the View. She was screeching over Bruce Springsteen’s wife and when Patti corrected her on that they had their children before they got married, EH’s response was this juvenile “oooh saucy!”. I hope ABC sends her off into Star and Rosie land soon.
