On The View today, Barbara Walters revealed that she spoke with Paris Hilton on Sunday via telephone from the jail where Paris is housed. According to Walters, this is what Paris had to say:
She is in the correctional treatment center.
She will be released June 25th.
She sounded tired, but was aware of what she was saying.
She said that she is “hanging in there” and that she feels she is a different person.
She was not released from jail last week because she was wailing or screaming, but because she was not eating or sleeping. She was severely depressed and felt as though she was in a cage. She was not herself. She was not on antidepressants.
She knows now she can make a difference and wants to do so when she gets of out jail.
She said, “I used to act dumb. It was an act. It is no longer cute. It was not who I am, nor do I want to be that person.”
She wants to help in the field of breast cancer or multiple sclerosis, two diseases that have touched her family.
She also considered asking toy companies to help her create a “Paris playhouse” for children who are ill.
She wants to use her power for different things.
Her “spiritual adviser” told her that her spirit did not like the way that she was being perceived and that is why she was sent to jail.
The other women have been friendly and the guards have been fair.
She hasn’t looked in a mirror since she got there.
She is no longer that “superficial girl.”
She spends her time reading books, newspapers, and fan mail. She also has played ping-pong.
Barbara also said that, according to Kathy Hilton, the reason why Paris said “that’s not fair” at the last court hearing was because Paris was not permitted to hug her mother good-bye, not in reaction to the order to return her to jail.

I am so SICK of Paris Hilton! BW used to be a serious newswoman…not so much any more.
And from what I read in the newspaper, Washington’s release from Greys’s wasn’t just about the gay bashing. He had a fight with Patrick Dempsey and he was causing other stresses on the set. Apparently, he is more trouble than he was worth to the program. Too bad, he is a good actor, but I am beginning to think he has serious ego issues.

Extra, Extra! as Rosie would say. Barbara Walters is the Hiltons’ PR now? Maybe she gets to stay at their hotels for free.

Gosh, I know. BW seemed proud that Paris called her directly–collect, of course! Come on, she knows that BW has a show and will report all to the masses–like anyone really cares what happens to that spoiled brat. She felt caged….um, isn’t that what it’s supposed to feel like????

I assumed that Babs got first dibs on Paris’s inevitable post-pokey “tell-all” interview in exchange for clearing the air today on The View–explaining why Paris *really* said, “It’s not fair!” I’m glad that Joy didn’t supress her eye-rolling sarcasm at Babs’s “reporting” of Paris finding God in prison, etc. Someone has to have some healthy skepticism! Elisabeth, right on schedule, repeatd what the right-wing media machine was saying about how the sheriff was in the back pocket of various wealthy celebrities. Babs took issue with her. I wish someone would ask her what her sources are for these comments.

Pressed Seacrest, “I would assume that you would be in discussions with her about having that first interview [after she's out of jail].”
“I have not discussed that,” replied Walters. “We have not discussed an interview.”
Good Call, Peaches
