Keith Olbermann talked about this morning’s appearance on The View on his show Countdown tonight. He likened the experience to “ten minutes in a blender — in a good way.” He added that all the hosts were very nice, including Elisabeth Hasselbeck. He said that he has heard in the past, and must agree with the fact, that Elisabeth is the official “nice to all the guests” host. He wished that they would have put him in a shorter chair so that he did not tower over the hosts like “Lurch” or a basketball player. He then showed several clips that amounted to approximately 70% of this morning’s interview. He did not show, or mention, the not-voting issue that the hosts criticized him for, but did show Elisabeth’s question about his Sarah Palin comment and her question of whether he will he speak up if the new administration makes mistakes.

Today on The View, all five hosts were present for the “Day of Hot Topics.” The first topic was the death of South African singer Miriam Makeba. She died following a performance last night. Whoopi Goldberg knew her and said that she was one of the first to bring attention to the issues in South Africa
Joy went to Vancouver to give a speech last week. At the airport, there was a guy with shifty eyes, who was sweating. The man came over to her and asked her if she was Bette Midler. Then she knew that he was not a terrorist. Then they played a clip of Joy’s appearance on Jay Leno, in which she said she doesn’t fight with Elisabeth off-stage. (It was the same clip I posted earlier)
Elisabeth’s son Taylor turned 1 year old this weekend. Grace helped her make a “dirt” cake. They had a construction theme and Joy asked if it was a dedication to Joe the Plumber. Elisabeth said that Taylor loves Chris Brown and danced to his music. She said it was the first day since his birth that was only about him because of older sister Grace.

This is the open thread for November 8th-9th for people who want to talk about things other than The View.
Countdown host Keith Olbermann highlights The View schedule for November 10th-14th. He will appear on Monday’s show as part of a “Day of Hot Topics.” I hope that Keith stops by Watching the View this weekend in order to prep for his appearance. (Hi Keith!)
Monday, November 10: Day of Hot Topics; Keith Olbermann.
Tuesday, November 11: Sir Elton John; the cast of Broadway’s Billy Elliott.
Wednesday, November 12: Alicia Keys; Amy Brenneman (ABC’s Private Practice).
Thursday, November 13: John Stamos (E.R.); performance from Big Apple Circus (Whoopi’s birthday)
Friday, November 14: Gloria and Emilio Estefan; actor/author Michael Easton (author, Soul Stealer, One Life to Live).
In his appearance on The View today, Mario Cantone made fun of the co-hosts for their horrible Halloween special. Here is a video of his appearance.
IToday on The View, it was a “special edition” because it featured three comedians as guests. Joy was absent again because she will be on The Tonight Show tonight.
A high turnout of minority voters may have lead to more socially conservative issues to pass like Proposition 8 in California which bans gay marriage. Barbara Walters said that church groups supported it because they did not want to get sued if they refused to perform gay marriage ceremonies and did not want gay marriage taught in schools. Whoopi Goldberg said that marriage is not taught in schools, why would they teach gay marriage? Barbara said that it could discussed or in the curriculum. Elisabeth said that a priest in Sweden was arrested for refusing to perform a gay ceremony. Elisabeth said that supporters are saying that it is good that the victory came from the people rather than the court. Whoopi said that she has always said that if you don’t support gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person. Whoopi said that most gay people would not want to go get married in a church that would not support them.
My television cut out when Sherri was explaining her position. Anyone who saw it, could you fill us in with what she said in the comment section? When the TV came back on, they were at the first commercial break.
