Video of Rosie O’Donnell on Comedy Central

Monday, April 14th, 2008

UPDATE: I found the whole routine (in two parts). It appears below.

I found this video clip which is only part of Rosie O’Donnell’s stand-up routine from last night’s Comedy Central autism benefit “Night of Too Many Stars.” If I find the full routine elsewhere, I will post it.

Rosie O’Donnell to appear on Comedy Central Sunday

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

autism-speaks1.jpgRosie O’Donnell will appear on Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars,” a live broadcast on Sunday April 13th at 8:00pm central on Comedy Central. The special, hosted by The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, is a benefit for autism awareness. The special jokingly bills itself as “an overbooked concert for autism awareness.” Viewers are encouraged to donate and money raised goes to the New York Center for Autism, as well as Autism Speaks which is an organization “dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism.” The organization raises awareness for autism and urges private and government action to address the issue.

Rosie has revealed several times in the past that autism awareness is an issue very close to her, even lobbying to get an entire episode of The View designated to the topic of autism. On her blog she has mentioned that she has friends whose children have autism, which in addition to her overall desire to help the causes of children, fuels her fight for this cause. At one point she also expressed an interest in doing a week-long set of specials on autism with Jenny McCarthy, but so far this has not come into fruition.

In addition to Rosie O’Donnell, other performers scheduled to appear are Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Susie Essman, Will Ferrell, Conan O’Brien, and Tina Fey. For the full list of scheduled performers or to donate to this worthy cause visit the Night of Too Many Stars website.

Thanks to Stacee for the heads up about this event!

Rosie O’Donnell on Martha Stewart Show

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

rosie-shoes.jpgRosie O’Donnell continued her publicity campaign for her book Crafty U on The Martha Stewart Show today. They talked about a wide variety of topics from the wonderful grilled cheese Rosie was given to eat backstage, their experiences on Celebrity Jeopardy! (they both won in the past), and, of course, crafts.

They did two crafts from Rosie’s new book. First they decorated sneakers and then they made artwork out of beans. On display were some bean art pictures of donkeys and they talked about how Martha now has three donkeys.

It got a little uncomfortable at one point when Martha obviously wanted Rosie to stop talking about her time “in the clink.” Martha did bring it up referring to “when I was in Alderson,” making it sound like a place she had visited, but I don’t think she wanted an extended chat on her time in prison. Rosie said on her video blog this morning that Martha responds better when people treat her like a regular person, which was clearly what Rosie was trying to do.

Martha mentioned a few things that Rosie should try, like going to Maine to see Beluga whales. Rosie said that she should call her because she isn’t busy and “hasn’t worked since 2002 except for The View, tick a lock, let’s not talk about that.” She echoed her sentiments from this morning on Good Morning America that she does better when she is the boss. She also added that at The View “there was a little Republican who scared me.”

I will post a video if one become available.

Video of Rosie O’Donnell on Good Morning America

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

I am impressed with how fast the video of Rosie O’Donnell on Good Morning America has made it online. It is below for those of you who missed it. You can also read my recap of Rosie O’Donnell’s appearance on GMA here. The video is only the interview segment. You can see the craft segment on the ABC website here. Rosie O’Donnell on Good Morning America

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

rosie-odonnell-kelli-odonnell-little-mermaid.jpgRosie O’Donnell appeared on Good Morning America this morning in support of her new book Crafty U, which is a book of crafts for families to do together.

Diane Sawyer asked her about The View and whether she has any regrets. Rosie said that it was a trial period, to see if she could back in the big wave of fame and she almost made it to the end. Diane asked if her if she is more in control now, which I thought was a strange question, as though she is so volatile all the time. Rosie said that things might get heated if they talk about the current political situation. She said that things were different when she had her own show because she had no one to give a countering viewpoint and she was the boss of everyone. She joked, “which, frankly, for me works well.”

Rosie said that she occasionally watches The View, and will watch the clips on YouTube when something big happens. She e-mailed Elisabeth Hasselbeck after she had her baby, but Elisabeth doesn’t email back often, but does so occasionally. Rosie said that Elisabeth is young and her world is much more black and white. Rosie said that things will be different when she, like Rosie, has gray hair all over.

View hosts past and present out on the town

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I haven’t been checking the celebrity photo site lately to keep track of what public events The View hosts have been attending. A quick look today and I found several new photos of past and present hosts to share with all you. Sherri Shepherd is the only current host who didn’t have any events photos available, most likely because she has been too sick to be going out lately.

Rosie O’Donnell and wife Kelli attended Spamalot, which features Clay Aiken. On her blog, Rosie said that she loved the show and thought that Clay did a great job.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck and husband Tim attended the JCPennys American Living Launch Party last month.

Bill Geddie the “Karl Rove of Barbara” Walters

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

On her blog, Rosie O’Donnell posted the above video blog featuring her and Kathy Griffin talking about The View. Kathy’s film crew from My Life on the D-List was also present, so it will probably also make an appearance on an upcoming episode of her show.

In it, Kathy talks about how Bill Geddie was the one who called her agency to “re-ban” her from the show. The reason was apparently that he thought that the part of her comedy act in which she recounted a conversation that she had with Barbara about K-Y and Astroglide was “very offensive for Barbara.”

Kathy thinks that Bill Geddie was the one who deemed it offensive and Rosie surmised that Barbara has probably never even seen Kathy’s comedy act. Rosie and Kathy both agreed that Bill Geddie is the one that really runs things at The View and Kathy called him the “Karl Rove of Barbara.”

Rosie also recounted the time that Helen Mirren appeared on The View. When she came out onto the stage, she bowed to Rosie and called her “the real Queen.” Rosie said that when that happened, she knew her days were numbered. At the end of the video (which is apparently just part one of a longer video), Rosie admitted that her publicist told her that she could do the Kathy Griffin show, but asked her to please not talk about The View. Oops.

Rosie O’Donnell doing sitcom

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

rosie-odonnell-fran-drescher.jpgOn her blog on Friday, Rosie O’Donnell had a video blog entry with friend Fran Drescher.

In the video, they said that they were going to be doing a sitcom together. I thought that they were just joking around or speaking hypothetically like Rosie often does (ex. her Jahero travel plans that didn’t materialize). However, today I was reading the “ask-Ro” section and she responded to questions about it:

Jeanette writes:

Fran D. is a doll! Are you and she really doing a sitcom together?

we is

anneC. writes:

Ro–will this new sitcom be done in NY? in front of a live audience?

yes

It remains unclear if Rosie will be starring the sitcom, writing it, or producing it (or all of the above). They also didn’t discuss the premise of the show. More details to come when available.

Rosie O’Donnell on the election at Huffington Post

Monday, February 4th, 2008

clinton-obama.jpg

For those you are interested, but haven’t seen the article yet, Rosie O’Donnell wrote a piece on Huffington Post today about the election. Check it out here.

She did not come out and endorse either Democratic candidate, instead choosing to articulate why she feels that the both of them together on one ticket would help our country.

It’s still early yet, but so far I find both candidates believable. They are different, with a different mix of talents to bring to the political table, but they both seem to have the passion, plans, drive, and intelligence I want in my next president.

Could a Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton ticket be our future? I hope so. I think America would benefit from the strengths of either individual, but if those strengths were combined, we might just have the Democratic powerhouse the country needs to turn itself around, and back into peace, prosperity and opportunity.

Taylor Hasselbeck brings Rosie and Elisabeth together

Friday, January 11th, 2008

rosie-odonnell-kelli-odonnell-little-mermaid.jpgRosie O’Donnell told People magazine that “peace prevails” between her and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and it sounds like new addition Taylor Thomas Hasselbeck is the one to thank.

Rosie sent gifts to the new baby and also some to big sister Grace. Rosie stated that “I sent something for him and something for his big sister because, as the mother of four, I know that when the newborn arrives, the most important thing is a sibling gift.” Specifically she sent clothes (”as you can buy at the (Baby) Gap without being arrested”) and a soft shape sorter for Taylor and a tea set for Grace.

Rosie confirmed that she and Elisabeth have been e-mailing one another and joked that given how fit Elisabeth looks already, she looks like she adopted.

The interview with Rosie came as she arrived for the Broadway premiere of The Little Mermaid. The photo above is from her and Kelli’s arrival there last night. Note that Rosie is holding her flip video camera. I don’t think she goes anywhere without it. I am sure that there will be a video posted from her evening at the premiere.

What do you all think about the reconciliation? I figured at some point that they would start speaking again, but I do not know if they will become close friends again (if they were before). Certainly by not being on a show with one another where they discuss politics each day, they can focus their relationship more on the things that they have in common, like being moms with more than one child and art projects.

Things we probably won’t see on The View this year

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

As a new year is set to begin for The View on Monday, I was thinking about what this year will hold for the show. Will it be more of the same? Will they try to spice things up? Although I don’t know what they have in store for us, I am pretty sure that we won’t be seeing any of the following this year on The View:

1. Whoopi Goldberg this happy during an interview segment:

whoopi-goldberg-happy.jpg
Runners up: Whoopi looking completely awake for an entire episode. Whoopi going an entire week without looking at Sherri Shepherd in shock and disbelief.

2. Barbara Walters encouraging discussion about the war in Iraq or serious other world issues.

barbara-walters-serious.jpg

Runners up: Barbara going a whole week without self-promotion. Barbara going a whole day without talking about her famous friends.
