Rosie O’Donnell and her Broadway Kids sing to Rachael Ray

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

For those of you who are Rosie O’Donnell fans, you may want to check out this video. Rosie appeared on The Rachael Ray Show yesterday with some of the children from her “Rosie’s Broadway Kids” program. They sang to Rachael who was celebrating her 40th birthday.

I would have posted a note to let you know of her apperance ahead of time, but I mistakenly thought it was on Friday of this week.

On her latest “Ask-Ro” on her blog, Rosie mentioned a few View related things. When someone asked why Elisabeth Hasselbeck made the comments about Michelle Obama and suggested that she did it for money, Rosie wrote, “the view doesnt pay well/it is not syndicated.”

She also responded to two separate questions about why Barbara Walters allows Elisabeth to make such comments. Rosie wrote “the view master runs the place/she is his favorite” and as to who is in charge, she wrote, “the tall bald republican.”

Rosie O’Donnell Posts Link To Old View Clip of Sean Hannity

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Despite being a month-long blog vacation, Rosie O’Donnell posted a link to this YouTube clip with the title “2 years ago.” It is a segment when she was a guest host on The View which features guest Sean Hannity. Although the person who posted the clip did not know the exact date, it had to have been more than two years ago because Meredith Vieira was still on the show when this episode aired and she left at the beginning of June in 2006. Also, given that Rosie says in the clip that she does not have a job, this had to have been before she was hired on as the show’s moderator, which was announced in April 2006. I suppose the “2 years ago” could be in reference to the fact that two years ago from today she was gearing up to start on The View as moderator?

Watching the clip made me think a few things. The first, and most predominate, feeling is that I miss The View with Rosie; for her passion and excitement about issues and for her humor, both of which are evident in the clip. The second is that her statement near the end of the clip was huge foreshadowing when she said something to the effect of that the reason that she she does not have her own show is because she gets so animated about issues like the war and it angers people.

I am wondering what provoked her to link to that particular clip on today of all days? Could it be because of vice-presidential talk in the clip? Could it be because it is almost the two year anniversary of her start as moderator on The View? Maybe there is no significance in the timing and she just came across it on YouTube? What do you think is her reason for posting the link? To show that she has had the same feelings about the president/war for a long time? Is she going to be a guest on Hannity and Colmes? Is she just being nice by giving me something to write about? (Yes, that must be it!)

My Day with Rosie O’Donnell

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

cimg1519.JPG

This morning I headed to the Michael’s Craft Store in Skokie, Illinois for Rosie O’Donnell’s Crafty U book signing. I really had no idea what to expect and I considered not even going because I was not sure it would be worth taking a vacation day from work. Not that I don’t think that Rosie is worth missing work for, but I have been to book signings before that were cold and impersonal and after waiting for hours I was shuffled along without so much as a “Hello.” A Rosie O’Donnell book signing, however, is so much better.

For those of you who want the short version or who are wondering whether you should go to a local signing yourself, my advice is “Go. You will not regret it.” She gives everyone personal attention and the way she interacted with the crowd made me admire her even more. For those of you who want every last detail of the day, read on . . .

Rosie O’Donnell’s Crafty U: A Review

Monday, May 5th, 2008

cimg1348.JPG

Rosie O’Donnell’s new craft book Crafty U was designed as a way for children and their parents to work on something fun and creative together, as an alternative to watching television or playing video games. At first glance, the book is a visual stunner, with beautiful photographs of the crafts that are art themselves. Initially I was a little intimidated by the crafts because they looked so perfect. However, I heard Rosie say in an interview that the crafts in the photographs were done by professionals and that, in the end, it is the process of having fun and not how the crafts that is important.

With that in mind, I decided to tackle three crafts from the book. Although the idea of the book is to craft with your children, I didn’t have any available. I tried to talk my cats into crafting with me, but they wanted to sleep in the sun instead. As a result, I made my attempts on my own, with varying success. The most important thing, though, is even the crafts that did not come out as well were still a lot of fun to make.

View hosts past and present out on the town

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I haven’t been checking the celebrity photo site lately to keep track of what public events The View hosts have been attending. A quick look today and I found several new photos of past and present hosts to share with all you. Sherri Shepherd is the only current host who didn’t have any events photos available, most likely because she has been too sick to be going out lately.

Rosie O’Donnell and wife Kelli attended Spamalot, which features Clay Aiken. On her blog, Rosie said that she loved the show and thought that Clay did a great job.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck and husband Tim attended the JCPennys American Living Launch Party last month.

Bill Geddie the “Karl Rove of Barbara” Walters

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

On her blog, Rosie O’Donnell posted the above video blog featuring her and Kathy Griffin talking about The View. Kathy’s film crew from My Life on the D-List was also present, so it will probably also make an appearance on an upcoming episode of her show.

In it, Kathy talks about how Bill Geddie was the one who called her agency to “re-ban” her from the show. The reason was apparently that he thought that the part of her comedy act in which she recounted a conversation that she had with Barbara about K-Y and Astroglide was “very offensive for Barbara.”

Kathy thinks that Bill Geddie was the one who deemed it offensive and Rosie surmised that Barbara has probably never even seen Kathy’s comedy act. Rosie and Kathy both agreed that Bill Geddie is the one that really runs things at The View and Kathy called him the “Karl Rove of Barbara.”

Rosie also recounted the time that Helen Mirren appeared on The View. When she came out onto the stage, she bowed to Rosie and called her “the real Queen.” Rosie said that when that happened, she knew her days were numbered. At the end of the video (which is apparently just part one of a longer video), Rosie admitted that her publicist told her that she could do the Kathy Griffin show, but asked her to please not talk about The View. Oops.

Rosie O’Donnell doing sitcom

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

rosie-odonnell-fran-drescher.jpgOn her blog on Friday, Rosie O’Donnell had a video blog entry with friend Fran Drescher.

In the video, they said that they were going to be doing a sitcom together. I thought that they were just joking around or speaking hypothetically like Rosie often does (ex. her Jahero travel plans that didn’t materialize). However, today I was reading the “ask-Ro” section and she responded to questions about it:

Jeanette writes:

Fran D. is a doll! Are you and she really doing a sitcom together?

we is

anneC. writes:

Ro–will this new sitcom be done in NY? in front of a live audience?

yes

It remains unclear if Rosie will be starring the sitcom, writing it, or producing it (or all of the above). They also didn’t discuss the premise of the show. More details to come when available.

Things we probably won’t see on The View this year

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

As a new year is set to begin for The View on Monday, I was thinking about what this year will hold for the show. Will it be more of the same? Will they try to spice things up? Although I don’t know what they have in store for us, I am pretty sure that we won’t be seeing any of the following this year on The View:

1. Whoopi Goldberg this happy during an interview segment:

whoopi-goldberg-happy.jpg
Runners up: Whoopi looking completely awake for an entire episode. Whoopi going an entire week without looking at Sherri Shepherd in shock and disbelief.

2. Barbara Walters encouraging discussion about the war in Iraq or serious other world issues.

Runners up: Barbara going a whole week without self-promotion. Barbara going a whole day without talking about her famous friends.

Rosie O’Donnell wins Blogger’s Choice Award

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell announced on her blog that she has won the Blogger’s Choice Award for “Best Celebrity Blogger.” I remember Rosie saying months and months ago about how she wanted to win the award and it was the first award that she really cared about getting.

On her blog she wrote that when the trophy arrives in the mail, she is going to post a video blog acceptance speech. I look forward to hearing it!

Rosie O’Donnell returns to Nip/Tuck this week

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

rosie-donnell-nip-tuck.jpg

Rosie O’Donnell’s reprisal of her role as Dawn Budge on the F/X television show Nip/Tuck will begin this Tuesday. Her storyline is expected to last a few episodes. Dawn has the unfortunate experience of being attacked by an eagle, which requires the services of the plastic surgeons.

You may recall that Rosie posted pictures on her blog, including the one above, when she was filming the show and some of her readers mistakenly thought she was actually injured. I guess that says good things about the special effects make-up people that work at the show.

Rosie posted a behind-the-scenes video of the filming of the eagle-attack scene on her blog.

Don’t forget that you can vote for me at Project Blog once every 24 hours between now and Tuesday! Thanks to all of you who have voted already and left such nice comments over at Reality on Bravo. I really appreciated all of the support!

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Although the rumors were true that Rosie O’Donnell was in talks to do a nighttime show for MSNBC, going up against Larry King, the talks have broken down.
