Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Although the rumors were true that Rosie O’Donnell was in talks to do a nighttime show for MSNBC, going up against Larry King, the talks have broken down.

This from Rosie’s blog:

Rosie O’Donnell Headed to MSNBC?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

The New York Times is reporting that Rosie O’Donnell is in talks to join MSNBC with her own night-time talk show. Rumor has it that the show would go up against Larry King Live and Hannity and Colmes.

Rosie did give me the impression on her “ask-ro” a few days ago that some kind of television deal was in the works, so maybe this is what she alluded to. Someone asked her on her blog when she would be back on television and she responded “soon.”

For the full article, head here.

Thanks to Watching the View reader Stephanie for the heads up!!

Rosie O’Donnell to answer Celebrity Detox questions

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

rosie-o-donnell-celebrity-detox-book-signing.jpg
Rosie O’Donnell added a new section to her blog where readers can ask her questions about her new book Celebrity Detox. The page indicates that answers are coming soon. If you click here and then go to the second “ask” box in the left column (below her regular “ask ro” box), you can ask her a question about the book.I got the book yesterday and am about 3/4 of the way through it.

I will post my review/thoughts on it when I finish. The book has brought up a lot of interesting things about The View that I want to share with all of you/pose questions to you about.

For those of you who do not have a copy of the book, you can read chapter one online here.

Rosie O’Donnell at Joni Mitchell Celebration

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Here are a couple of photos from when Rosie O’Donnell attended an album release celebration for Joni Mitchell on Tuesday. If you have been reading Rosie’s blog lately, she has talked frequently about the album.

The second photo was captioned (by wire image) as Rosie “and her brother.” Not sure which brother it is, though.

Rosie O’Donnell Previews her Nip/Tuck Injury

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell is presently in Los Angeles filming another guest appearance on the F/X television show Nip/Tuck. This time around, her character, Dawn Budge, was attacked by an eagle and is seeking plastic surgery to fix the problem. Rosie gave a preview of the make-up job on her blog (shown below). She also expressed on the video blog that she would love to do a spin-off of Nip/Tuck featuring Dawn Budge.

Rosie O’Donnell posts full picture of costume

U.S. army costume

Originally uploaded by Rosie O’Donnell

This photo was uploaded by Rosie O’Donnell today and labeled “U.S. Army Costume.” I don’t think this is Vivi in the picture, so maybe one of her brothers has a similar costume? UPDATE: A clever reader, “pnbzmom” deduced that the initials CBOD on the uniform probably refer to Chelsea Belle O’Donnell, Rosie’s older daughter.

If you go back and look at the picture of Vivi, there are empty velcro patches where the stars and Army patches are on this costume.

I wonder if Rosie posted this photo to counteract all the of the media who have claimed that Vivi was dressed like a terrorist in that other photo. I did find it odd that many people thought she was dressed as a terrorist, rather than a soldier. Perhaps she is trying to make a point about how people are quick to judgment in branding people terrorists? Or does this go back to her previous point about how American soldiers are seen as terrorists by many people in Iraq?

What is interesting to me is how most of the media outlets have failed to pick up on Rosie’s point, which is that her daughter in a costume should not be news and Paris Hilton should not be news, when there is a war going on and thousands of our soldiers have been killed and severely injured.

Girls just wanna have fun

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell posted a new video called “dress up” which shows that last year, her daughter Vivi was often dressed like a princess. This year she is dressing up like a soldier. The background music for the video is “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

In her “Ask-ro” section she wrote this:

my daughter in a soldier costume
national news
3500 dead soldiers for real
they dont comment

shame

She also had this interchange:

Tiffany writes:
Ro,
Is Vivi’s picture a political statement? Help us understand…

all that matters
is what it means 2 u

Rosie O’Donnell posts photo of Vivi “playing soldiers”

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

In what many responding her blog have called “disturbing” and others “brilliant,” Rosie O’Donnell posted the picture below on her blog. It is her youngest child, Vivi, wearing camouflage and bullets.

In response to a question about it on her blog, Rosie said that she doesn’t set up photos, she takes photos of what is before her. She has written previously that her children love playing soldiers and she said that in the photo, Vivi was playing soldiers with her brothers. She has previously posted a picture of her son Blake in camouflage, also below, but that did not get a negative reaction as far as I know. Do you think that it is the fact that Vivi is a little girl, that she is wearing the bullets, or is it her expression, which seems so sad, that is creating controversy?

UPDATE: According to The Showbuzz, Rosie wrote this to them regarding the controversy:

It’s fascinating to me
that an image of a child dressed up as a soldier
evokes so much attention
yet the real soldiers - their deaths - their wounded bodies
doesn’t seem to faze most
or make news.

Thanks to Watching the View reader Alice for The Showbuzz link.

Rosie and TPIR cannot reach a deal

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell said on her blog that it does not appear that there is going to be a deal for her to host The Price is Right. She had expressed on her blog previously that she thought it could work out, even taping in Los Angeles, because she could record episodes in bulk and not be away from her family too long. Last night, she wrote that she told The Price is Right people about her idea of taping four episodes a day, but they told her that was not possible. As a result, she would have to be away from her family for 26 weeks to do the tapings.

She said that she was not going to uproot her family from New York to Los Angeles because they have school, friends, and a life in New York. She also refuses to be away from them for that long. So it appears that the whole thing is a no-go.

Rosie reflects on Emmy night and the other View ladies present

Friday, June 15th, 2007

While waiting patiently for The View-related moments to happen on The Daytime Emmy Awards, I checked Rosie O’Donnell’s blog and saw she had posted a new video. The video titled “Emmy night” it is an assortment of photographs from Rosie’s time on The View. I imagine these were her favorite moments and guests during her brief tenure on the show. There are some touching photos, as well as some that made me laugh as I remembered the particular segment (like when Elisabeth and Rosie made Easter eggs).

The video made me a little sad, because I remembered how many great times there were with Rosie and how many laughs all of the women had together before it all turned so ugly. Check out the video here. It is definitely worth your time.

Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck presented a clip on the Daytime Emmys which showed the awards given the night before in several categories. When they first came onto the stage, Barbara pretended that they had won and started giving a fake acceptance speech. Elisabeth said “We didn’t win!” Joy said, “Everyone said we were going to win, but we didn’t.” Elisabeth said, “Maybe next year” and Joy said that to win they would have to kill Ellen DeGeneres.

Rosie O’Donnell still “begging” for Price is Right job

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

On her video blog with Ross “The Intern” Mathews, Rosie O’Donnell said that she is still “begging” and “e-mailing on a daily basis” to try to get the chance to replace Bob Barker on The Price is Right. She told Ross in the video that if she gets the job, she wants him to come on and be the announcer that calls people out of the audience.

She said, however, that there was only a small chance that she would get the role and she wants them to want her as the host.

EDITED(I had the wrong date. Thanks to the alert reader who pointed this out to me! July 17th is correct)

Ross Mathews also revealed that the date is set for his guest co-host gig on The View: July 17.

The “Ro and Ro” show is actually in two parts and appears on both Rosie’s blog and Ross’s blog. They were both simultaneously recording on their own computers, so there are two different camera angles. Below is both parts of the video from Ross’s computer, courtesy YouTube.

Jahero Returns

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

For those of you who are fans of Rosie O’Donnell’s video blogs with her friends Helene and Janette, you will be happy to know that a new episode has been posted to her blog. It is the first new episode with all three of them since Rosie left The View and Janette defaced a picture of Elisabeth Hasselbeck at the studio. In the video, Rosie jokes that she checked Janette for markers before letting her in.

Rembering the good times

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell, perhaps trying to reassure herself and others that there were some happy moments during her time on The View, posted an entry on her blog entitled “My Favorite View Segment.” The segment, shown below courtesy of YouTube, was where she surprised a 12-year-old girl with Cystic Fibrosis with a visit from the cast of Rent. It is a very touching moment and I would encourage you to watch if you didn’t see it the first time that it aired in December.
