Nine Year Old Maria Lark To Co-Host View

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I just read on the official View website that nine-year-old Maria Lark, from Medium, will be the youngest person ever to co-host The View. The episode has likely already been recorded because it will air on Monday September 3rd, Labor Day, which is before the show returns from hiatus and Whoopi Goldberg joins the panel.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Maria Lark, she is an adorable, funny, and precocious kid. Below is a video of when Maria was on The View as a guest in May of 2006.

Star Jones Admits Wedding Talk Was Too Much

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Star Jones Reynolds, who is on a publicity campaign for her new television show on Court TV, recently acknowledged that she alienated The View audience with her frequent discussion of her lavish wedding. Her unending discussion of the details of her wedding, along with her unwillingness to disclose that she had lost her weight as a result of gastric bypass surgery, caused viewers to turn away from her, and the show. That is reportedly why the show did not renew her contract. She did not admit to the surgery until last month.

This is what she said recently on the topic:

I had lost the immediate connection that I had with my audience.

Yes, I enjoyed planning the wedding of my dreams, marrying the man of my dreams. But I take responsibility 100 percent for enjoying celebrity a bit too much. I screwed up. … It’s intoxicating. I sucked it into my lungs and let it get into my bloodstream.

Her new show, Star Jones, will premiere Monday on Court TV.

Star Jones finally admits to gastric bypass

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

In the latest issue of Glamour magazine, Star Jones finally admitted what everyone already knew: her drastic weight loss came as a result of a gastric bypass surgery. As for the reason why she did reveal her surgery sooner, she had this to say:

First, I didn’t know if the surgery would work. I had never stuck to a diet or committed to exercise for more than a month, and I had spent my entire adult life telling everyone that I was fine with the way I looked. I also never thought I’d have to explain it. I actually thought that I could say, “None of your business,” and people would say, “OK, she wants to remain private.” If that isn’t evidence of someone not living in truth, I don’t know what is. Everything about me was already so public (mostly my own doing—talk about dumb!), so of course everyone wanted to know what I had done. I was also terrified someone would have a tragic result after emulating me without making an informed decision with her doctor. But the complete truth is, I was scared of what people might think of me. I was afraid to be vulnerable, and ashamed at not being able to get myself under control without this procedure.
