Elisabeth Hasselbeck has own crying child story
You still have a few hours left to vote for me in this week’s Project Blog competition!
In her latest blog entry on Dreft, Elisabeth Hasselbeck writes that she tried to take baby Taylor to the mall and had to leave hurriedly as he started “wailing.” Of course co-host Sherri Shepherd just talked about a similar screaming-in-store story yesterday on The View, in regard to her two year old son. Maybe that is why it seems like these two get along well; they have the mom to a little one connection.
Here’s an excerpt of what Elisabeth had to say:
With hands filled with items that I desperately needed to buy - Taylor begins to WAIL. I am not sure that there is a good place to ever hear your baby cry…but the Men’s Department is DEFINTELY not the best. SO I began speed walking to the car…map out in front of me like a tourist, sweating like crazy, Taylor alarming everyone we passed. WE made it to the car, and I sat in the backseat nursing him for a bit, followed by a HUGE DIAPER. No problem: or so I thought. I am scrunched between 2 carseats, with Taylor on my lap…undo his explosive “present” only to reach for the wipes- and realize that I forgot them. Nice work mommy. In a total MacGyver move, I whisked out a bottle of water, and pour it over an extra diaper. Well, I MISS the diaper, in a moment of haste, and spilled it all over Taylor’s belly. SUPERMOM! AHHHH. He was screaming, I was hating myself. And most moms know how much babies lllllove to get a onesie pulled over their head…I thought it could not get worse. Five minutes later, he was happy as a clam, chugging away, and I was ready to call it a day.
There is also a story about her getting injured with a shopping cart at the grocery store. You can read the entire entry here.

That is so embarrassing when your child starts screaming like that. People turn around and look at you as if you should be able to stop it right then and there. I have a nice little Christmas story about something similar. I went shopping when my then two year old son, and I had my arms full. I was trying to hold onto him and a bunch of gifts. (The store was a clothing store and they didn’t have carts) Anyway,I was dropping most of the packages and that’s when he decided it was a good idea to make matter worse, by crying.
The line was full and at that point I wanted to cry too. This woman who was also waiting in line, came up to me and asked me if she could hold my packages for me. I agreed, and she took my packages and stood right next to me until we reached the counter. She placed my items on the counter wished me a Merry Christmas smiled and walked away. I thanked her and told her to also have a nice holiday. After I checked out, I looked for her but I couldn’t find her. I never got her name, but that was one of the nicest encounters I’ve ever had with a stranger.

Yea, the joys of motherhood. I can bet that we all have had something similar happen to us.
Great Story Rainlille, thanks for sharing it with us. Bless those stranger angels.

You’re welcome Sandy! “stranger angels.”
That’s exactly how I would describe her.
