Ellen DeGeneres wins Best Talk Show Host
The losing streak continues as the hosts of The View again lost the Daytime Emmy award for Best Talk Show Host. All four of them (Rosie O’Donnell, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck) were nominated together. The award went to Ellen DeGeneres.
In her speech, Ellen said that she thought that Rosie brought a lot of people to daytime television this year with her presence on The View. She then joked that since “hot topics” was so popular on The View, she was going to have a new segment next season called “hot pockets.”
She then joked that she was going to start being more controversial, because that is what brings in he ratings. She then joked that although her view was sure to be an unpopular one, she thinks that (newly retired) Bob Barker “is a quitter.”
During Ellen’s speech, the camera panned to the audience and showed Barbara Walters and Joy Behar, but no Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I wonder why they didn’t show her? Had she run to the bathroom after the award was announced? (She had said on The View that she was worried about having to go two hours without using the bathroom)
