Feb 1st Recap

by

Barbara Walters was back on the show today, following her trip to Los Angeles to film her Oscar special. Her interviewees on the special are Ellen DeGeneres, who is hosting the Oscars, Helen Mirren, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson.

Barbara said that while she was in L.A., she had dinner with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. She brought back a note for Rosie from Tom. Rosie said the note was sweet and that she still loves “my Tommy.” She also said, “his marriage and my gayness can’t break us up!”

Marcel, the runner-up in last night’s Top Chef finale was in the audience. Rosie had expressed her admiration of him yesterday and predicted his victory. She was very unhappy that he didn’t win and thought he may have been sabotaged by his teammates. Marcel said that any of the blame for the forgotten food and the other problems should fall on him as the head chef, and no one else. Rosie told him that if she opened a restaurant, she would have him be the chef, because she admires the artistic way he approaches food. Marcel said that the Top Chef experience was “bizarre” and “a little bit interesting,” but overall a wonderful opportunity. Rosie presented Marcel with a set of fancy knives from J.A. Henckels. For more on the Top Chef finale, check out Reality on Bravo.

Goran Visnjic of ER appeared on the show. He said that when he came to America, he did not speak much English and had to work with a dialect coach on the set of ER for hours everyday. All of the ladies gushed over his “sex symbol” qualities, and even Rosie said his sexiness “crosses all boundaries.” They showed a clip from tonight’s episode of ER, featuring guest star, and Oscar nominee, Forest Whitaker as a disgruntled former patient. Goran said that it is great working with such a talented actor.

Comedienne Sarah Silverman was on the show to promote her new show, which premieres tonight, called the Sarah Silverman Program. Joy Behar said the show is funny and has “something to offend all age groups.” The show is a series of sketches and songs, surrounding the main character. Sarah said that her character is the “ignoramus” of the situations. For example, she is not really making fun of the disabled when she calls a wheelchair marathon an “anti-leg rally.” Sarah’s sister, Laura, also stars in the show. Sarah briefly mentioned her boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel. Although no mention was made of it on The View, Kimmel often criticizes Rosie on his late night talk show. Rosie has previously said on her blog that she is a big fan of Sarah’s, but has never met Jimmy. Her explanation for his dislike of her is as follows:

he is apparently upset
that i said leno could go to abc
meaning at 11 30
since his show starts at midnight
( and i have never seen it )
he took this as a personal insult

which it never was
i am asleep before his show airs

i dont know him - at all
