Girls just wanna have fun
Rosie O’Donnell posted a new video called “dress up” which shows that last year, her daughter Vivi was often dressed like a princess. This year she is dressing up like a soldier. The background music for the video is “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
In her “Ask-ro” section she wrote this:
my daughter in a soldier costume
national news
3500 dead soldiers for real
they dont commentshame
She also had this interchange:
Tiffany writes:
Ro,
Is Vivi’s picture a political statement? Help us understand…all that matters

If The View were not in reruns right now, does anyone think they would have discussed this latest flap about Rosie–or do you think she is now off-limits as a hot topic? (I hope not. After all, who better to discuss it than the people who worked with her most recently?)

That’s a great question, Peaches. I don’t know if they would have talked about it. My first instinct would be no, but I would have liked to see it. Would Elisabeth haven’t stood up for Rosie on this one?

I doubt they would have. I think for awhile they will deal with Rosie with kid gloves regarding any discussion of her. They wouldn’t want to alienate the few remaining viewers that Rosie brought over. I’m not talking about their original base but rather those she brought to the show.
Did anyone read her latest “ask ro” where she said that she’d post pictures of the military wounded if they sent it to her. Oh my… the storm that would bring. Even if they sent it to her and in sense giving her permision, just wow. What do you think?

Alice: I am sure that the media outlets would say that she is exploiting the soldiers or something. I don’t know if most of America would be prepared to see that, but maybe they should see it?

I think the news outlets and those who don’t support Rosie would tear her from limb to limb if she posts those pictures. Remember how outraged they were when some news outlets wanted to show the flag-draped coffins? And when Ted Koppel wanted to show the names on Nightline of the first 2,000 soldiers who had died in Iraq?
I recall that EH mentioned on air a time or two that she thought Rosie’s kids seemed like great kids, so I’d like to think that she’d say so again if The View were on air right now, discussing this latest controversy. But I don’t think she would go incredibly far in defending Rosie. On the other hand, I don’t think she would be as nasty as the news folks who hate Rosie have been—because I think she doesn’t want to present that type of persona. But who knows?
I have a feeling that when they are back on air, they will treat any Rosie-in-the-news item with a couple of perfunctory comments and then will briskly move on to another hot topic. Much like they did the day after the Rosie_EH dust-up, when Kathy Griffin kept bringing up the subject.

If the View were not in reruns, I think that they might touch on the subject of rosie, and the picture of Vivi. My thoughts are the sme as peaches reguarding how EH would react.
I also agree that the News outlets would condemn Rosie for having pictures of wounded soldiers on her web-site.
I would not if she had their permission.

I think EH liked Rosie’s kids too. I remember them mentioning that they had a few play dates and I also remember EH running the breast cancer marathon with Rosie’s eldest. I think she knows Rosie’s kids and wouldn’t say anything ill about them. I just don’t know if she would say anything at all at this time.
I also would not have a problem if Rosie posted the photos as long as the military person gave consent.

If Rosie showed military people’s pictures, I think either noone would say anything & it would not be mentioned on the various news outlets or they would say she is only doing it for attention.

I do not like Rosie. I think she is hypocritical, egocentric, and staggeringly uninformed. Yet, I wanted to chime in as one who does not “support” (What’s meant by that, anyway?) Rosie, that I would welcome any outlet that depicts the horrors of (any) war (especially this one, which the administration has so badly botched).
But by all means, don’t allow reason and fairness to interrupt your party. Feel free to generalize and speculate about people who don’t agree with Rosie.

The video of Rosie playing drums: she looks like she is having a great time.
