How I Almost Made it on The View. (Well, No, Not Really.)
You may recall that my New Year’s resolution this year was to make it on The View. I wrote at the time that it was a “dream goal” to be a guest-host on The View and I posted the picture above. I knew that it would never happen, but it pays to dream big, right?
Earlier this summer, my husband and I decided to take a trip to New York City for our anniversary. Although I knew I could not actually get on the show, I thought I could at least get tickets to sit in the audience. I have since tried several routes to get tickets and I thought we had gotten in, but then I was told that all the VIP tickets for that day (this coming Monday, September 29th) were taken. At least I should be glad I was considered VIP, I suppose, although it is not much consolation.
I had day-dreamed of getting to meet all of the hosts and thought about what I would say to each of them, especially Elisabeth. I had imagined what I would say if, by some stroke of luck, I got to speak on camera (maybe as the audience participant at the halfway point in the show or something). I thought about making my husband wear a “Watching the View” t-shirt or making up cards to hand out to other audience members to get more readers. But, alas, now my Monday morning will be spent at a museum rather than hanging out with Sherri Shepherd, Joy Behar, and the rest.
However, the most disappointing part of not getting to see the taping is that I was so looking forward to coming back and telling you all what happened behind-the-scenes. I thought that I could even make a series out of it, doing postings over the span of a few days, showing pictures and writing about my experiences. Instead, maybe we will get up at the crack of dawn to go see the Today Show or something.
The View, New Year’s Resolution, Sherri Shepherd, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, NYC

If anyone deserves a guest host seat it’s you, Winnine
Don’t give up though. There is still a possibility it could happen!

Can you go stand in line in case not everyone shows up that day? It would be a shame for you to be so close but yet so far.

Wow Winnie I’m sorry.
I’m with Stacee, don’t give up though, you never know. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.
It would have been great to read your post and see pictures.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

not sure if u know this or not (you probably do) but I had a few moments so here is my “helpful hint”
Same-day tickets are available. From 8:30-10 a.m., pick up a number at the audience entrance(320 W. 66th Street). Return to the standby line at 10:20 a.m. Standby audience will be used in numerical order as distributed earlier, and can’t be determined before 10:20 a.m.
Good luck

Winnie, I assume that getting on the VIP list means they had your name. You are probably on some sort of “black list” given you speak truthfully about EH. I think you should take the advice of other posters and try to get stand-by tickets. Once in, it would be WONDERFUL if you could also proceed with your plan to wear a WTV t-shirt and hand-out flyers, cards, etc. Then during the commerical breaks, try and ask some questions, let them know who you are and maybe they will do a “call out” to you after they know you are there? I bet Joy would love to give you some promotion? And talk about a perfect day to go with Lisa Ling as a guest! I’d try and ask questions about whether EH envisions a post-career like Lisa’s and see what she says!! Good luck and happy anniversary!

Good luck Winnie, it sounds like Roger may have some insider tips.
I would love it if you could interview Lisa, what a loss she was to the show.
Rosie should be announcing her show soon and hopefully it will be in NYC, since you have met her maybe you will be a VIP with that show!

Winnie, we’re rooting for ya! Youbetcha!
Take Roger’s advice but don’t tell them you’re with WTV So You Don’t Have To!!!! I’m sure they know who you are. Once inside and the cameras are rolling, have your hubby take his shirt off with WTV.com painted on his chest/back!!! Talk about a Monday to look forward to!! You need to take us to commercial break.
Send our love to TLB.

Thanks to Roger for the info. We might give it a try, although I detest waiting (I am so impatient!) and I know I will be even more disappointed if we wait and wait and still don’t get in.
I will most likely be doing twitter updates this weekend, so if you want to know if I made into the show or want to know what I am up to around NYC, you can follow me at twitter.com/winnie
