It’s a boy for Elisabeth Hasselbeck!

by Winnie McCarthy

its_a_boy_stripes.jpg
ABC announced today that The View host Elisabeth Hasselbeck gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Friday at a hospital in Arizona. The baby weighed in at 7 pounds and 15 ounces. No word yet on the name for the little one. (I am guessing Tim, Jr., though). Elisabeth will reveal the name when she calls into The View on Monday.

Husband Tim Hasselbeck released a statement stating “Elisabeth and I are happy to announce the arrival of our son and we’re thrill he arrived safely. Both mom and son are happy and healthy.” (I am not sure if the typo of “thrill,” as opposed to “thrilled” was in his statement or if it was an error by ABC news where I read the quote)

  1. Julie Says:

Congrats, EH, now please retire. Even with the voices in Whoopi’s head (from the IED), Sherri’s worn out boob jokes, and BW’s anti-controversy agenda, The View’s still a thousand times better than when you were there.

  2. A Says:

Great, little Miss Perfect Elisabeth has her perfect little family with 1 boy and 1 girl…

  3. Julie Says:

I know, but look on the bright side though. Maybe now she’ll stop. The fewer people in this world indoctrinated with her nastiness and ignorance the better. Who knows, maybe the kids will even rebel like she did and embrace the opposite views of their parents! Cheers to that!

  4. rainlillie Says:

“Congrats, EH, now please retire. ”

LOL! EH loves the spotlight, I don’t see her walking away from that anytime soon…We can still wish…right.

  5. Joe Says:

oy…can’t any of you just be nice and happy? Congrats Elisabeth!! Love you and your views!

  6. marilyn Says:

    Winnie -

Thank you for the nice announcement about EH and her new baby boy. Congratulations to the Hasselbecks.

I agree with “JOE” #5….”CAN’T ANY OF YOU BE NICE AND HAPPY?

This does not seem like the time or place to be writing nasty comments. It amazes me that people can not use proper manners, once in a while. I do my share of giving an opinion, but not at the expense of an innocent baby.

I really feel you meant well, Winnie, and some of these comments are an insult to you and your web site. IMO

    Marilyn

  7. rainlillie Says:

    marilyn & Joe,

If you want an EH fansite go somewhere else. People have a right to express themselves anyway they see fit.

  8. rainlillie Says:

I would like to expand on my comments, I think it would be extremely pretentious for me to come on here posting congratulations to someone I’ve come to dislike like. I respect the fact that others have the courage to also be honest about their feelings.
I don’t see anyone here wishing EH ill will, so it’s a little dishonest to say “at the expense of an innocent baby.”

  9. Doug Robertson Says:

Well you gave me the breaking news … I hadn’t heard she had the kid yet! Altho I completely disagree with her politically, I have to admit I miss her on the View, and was hoping that everything came out all right, so I wish them the best. Now, if she only comes back to the V so I can get pissed at her again!

  10. Viva Says:

Geez, just because she had a baby the people who dislike her don’t have to start suddenly liking her. No one is wishing her or the baby ill will. Do I like her? NO! Do I want her back on the VIEW? No! Does it mean I have bad manners? Who the heck cares!!

  11. Julie Says:

    LOL, Viva!

“I don’t see anyone here wishing EH ill will, so it’s a little dishonest to say ‘at the expense of an innocent baby.’”

Yep, no one wishes any harm to the kiddo or his mom, so it’s not at his expense. I’m hoping he grows up to be a happy, healthy liberal.

  12. Ken Says:

Congrats to Lizzie on her new bundle of joy. That’s sweet that she got a boy.

  13. Elsie Says:

Congratulations to the Hasselbecks! Regardless of the diff. of opinions, you wish people the best. So, there.

  14. Elsie Says:

Elisabeth will announce her son’s name live on the on the program tomorrow.

  15. Elsie Says:

Oops, I got carried away with the “on the”!

  16. rainlillie Says:

“Regardless of the diff. of opinions, you wish people the best. So, there.”

Excuse me, but who here has stated their not wishing the best for EH? I just see people here being direct and honest. It’s hard for me to warm up to someone who thinks torture of other human being is justified.

As Viva said “just because she had a baby the people who dislike her don’t have to start suddenly liking her.”

  17. Sara Says:

Allegedly on EH’s Wiki entry that her son’s name is either Ryan Timothy or Ryan Thomas. I don’t know if either is true, but we’ll find out Monday!

  18. Jolly Says:

Babies are always good news and it’s wonderful she had a healthy baby boy. Congrats to them. I’m not a fan of EH or her personality. However as a mom she seems to be doing a great job and I think she’d make an even better full time mom. hint hint ;-)

  19. Barry Manilow Says:

She better not call her son Barry!

  20. Yvonne Says:

#11 Julie “I’m hoping he grows up to be a happy, healthy liberal”.
    :-) :-) :-)
    Ditto!

  21. Yvonne Says:

HMMM … that came out weird but you get my point!

  22. Peaches Says:

“I really feel you meant well, Winnie, and some of these comments are an insult to you and your web site. ”

Jeez Louise (or Marilyn, I should say)–are you kidding???

Winnie, I sure hope you don’t feel insulted here! I reread your post about EH’s baby and it seemed pretty neutral, as you always tend to be on your site with all your postings. You post any and all news about everyone. You leave the editorializing to us.

I always thought it was a blog about The View, not a blog for The View.

It’s possible to hold two thoughts in your head at the same time: (1) Okay, the baby is born and the mother & child are well and that’s great. Nice to hear. and (2) Some of us still hope EH does not return to the show, no matter how bad it has gotten this year.

    Loved Barry Manilow’s comment!

  23. May Says:

I figured princess EH would have a perfect family…now stay home and be a Tsar over your relatives, EH. I am enjoying your absence from “The View” eversomuch!! Guess the boy will be tossing the football around with his dada next week or so EH will announce, true or not.

  24. Yvonne Says:

Considering dada is a washed up 3rd string quarterback let’s hope the little boy gets his football tips from his Uncle Matt.

  25. May Says:

“let’s hope the little boy gets his football tips from his uncle Matt”
    ROTFLMAO !!

  26. Stacee Says:

Awww babies are so special. How fun to have a little boy in the house. I bet the Hasselbecks are so happy and proud.

FWIW, I don’t think the comments expressed by individuals here are a reflection of Winnie or this site. I join Peaches in hoping Winnie does not feel insulted.

  27. Real Says:

Congratulations to EH. I hope she will make a dedication to motherhood and forfeit her “career.” Having it all is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Her kids would truly benefit by having her with them EVERY SINGLE DAY, especially at 11:00 AM EST Monday- Friday.

    (I know, she’ll be back, but I just thought I’d try…LOL).

  28. AsH Says:

CONGRATS ELISABETH!!How can you not be happy that a wonderful new baby has entered the world?! Much Love and Best of Luck!

  29. Sandy Says:

Thanks Winnie for keeping us informed and up to date. I appreciate you so much.
Congratulations to the Hasselbecks. I’m happy that they had a boy, and to hear that Mon & baby are both well.
I look forward to E.H. coming back.

  30. rainlillie Says:

“Her kids would truly benefit by having her with them EVERY SINGLE DAY, especially at 11:00 AM EST Monday- Friday.”

    LOL! I agree.

  31. ~~Melissa Says:

I’m guessing she’ll name him Matthew (or some other Biblical name) + Timothy.

  32. tallfreak Says:

I heard the baby’s name is going to be George W. Hasselbeck.

  33. Dee Says:

Thanks for the announcement Winnie! We all know that you are not responsible for our feelings about any of The View characters, be they Rosie or EH.

I have high hopes for the little H’s, may they be compassionate and protesting liberals like their Filarski grandparents!

  34. rainlillie Says:

“I heard the baby’s name is going to be George W. Hasselbeck.”

    LOL! no way!!
