July 30th Recap: New hosts to be announced this week
Nancy Grace was today’s guest host. {Disclaimer: I cannot stand Nancy Grace. My main contention with her is that she convicts people immediately and never leaves open the possibility that a person did not commit a particular offense for which he is a suspect. She is also rude to her guests that she disagrees with.}
Nancy recently got married and is pregnant with twins. She said that she won’t reveal whether she had fertility treatments because “what happens in a woman’s vagina should stay in a woman’s vagina.” (She does know that the babies will have to come out of at some point, though, right?). She also recently broke bones in her foot. Toward the end of the show, she said that she will not become softer or laid back following having the children and will probably even become more vigilant against child predators. She will also not be taking a lengthy maternity leave because “justice never sleeps.”
Nancy is being sued by the family of Melinda Duckett, who committed suicide after an interview on Nancy’s show. Melinda’s son was missing and Nancy asked accusatory questions of her. Melinda has been since named the primary suspect in her son’s disappearance.
As I posted earlier, Barbara denied that Victoria Beckham would be coming on as a guest host. She did say, however, that they will be announcing the new host or hosts later this week. (FINALLY!).
Usher canceled his wedding over the weekend, at the last minute. Elisabeth Hasselbeck speculated that he listened to his mother who did not approve of the marriage.
Nicole Richie received four days in jail for her DUI conviction. Nancy said that she saw Nicole Richie eat once: a single lettuce leaf.
Richard Branson said that he smokes pot with his adult son. Joy thinks it is obnoxious. Elisabeth said it expresses a need to hold on to his youth and called it “a disaster.” Nancy said, “You left out one thing. It is against the law.” Joy said even if it was alcohol, it would still be a bad idea.
The show then gave away a GMC Arcadia to an audience member.

His wife recently had a baby girl, Eva. She is four weeks old and all three of them appeared on the cover of US Weekly. Jason said that they don’t have a nanny and he is very involved in the care of his daughter. Jason brought up the fact that in the same issue of the magazine, they recount Elisabeth’s story about having to use her daughter’s diapers to pee. Elisabeth said that this was not how she dreamed her conversation with Jason Priestley, who she loved on Beverly Hills, 90210, would go.
Five years ago, Jason was in a very serious accident in a race car. He does not race at that level anymore and only does go-carts with his friends. He said that having a child changes how he looks at everything. He met his wife on a street corner and then returned to that corner to propose to her.
He was asked whether he would ever appear on Dancing with the Stars like his friend and former co-star Ian Ziering. Barbara cut off the question to ask him a stupid question about why he and his 90210 cast members did not end up like Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan. He pointed out that most of the cast members were in their twenties when that show first started. (Why must everything come back to out of control celebrities??)
SugarLand appeared on the show to promote their album Enjoy the Ride. Both members of the country group, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, are from Atlanta. They are not a couple, despite the popular misconception. They are currently touring with Kenny Chesney.
The View, Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Beher, Nancy Grace, Usher, Nicole Richie, Jason Priestley, Sugarland, Jennifer Nettles, Kristian Bush

I, like Winnie, cannot stand Nancy Grace. But I must admit she wasn’t too bad today. (I didn’t watch the whole show today, but saw the first two hot topics segments….did she keep it calm throughout the show?)

Lottie: Yes, she kept that softer demeanor throughout the rest of the show. It had me wondering whether she toned it down for The View or if she is playing a character somewhat on her own show.

I felt like the segment where they gave the car away was really awkward. It was like they were trying to prove they still give away free stuff with Rosie gone.

I agree that the car segment was poorly produced.
The show is soooooooo boring now.
And Sherry and Whoopi coming on the show is not exciting at all.
How much longer can you keep up this blog, Winnie? You’re clearly bored with the show too.

Eddie: I am hoping that it will be less-boring with the addition of the new hosts!

Whoopie is past her time and Sherrie doesn’t have enough of the It factor to last long. Kinda like Elisabeth….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I can’t believe Nancy reproduced!
