June 11th Recap: Kim Coles and Seth Green
Kim Coles, formerly of Living Single sat in as guest host. She said she uses her residual checks to buy her hair.
The first hot topic was, of course, Barbara Walters’ conversation with Paris Hilton from jail, which you can read about in my previous entry here.
They next discussed the finale of The Sopranos and they were all disappointed with the ending, because there was no dramatic finale.
Isaiah Washington is out at Grey’s Anatomy. Elisabeth said that when she watched the show, she couldn’t get past the comment that Isaiah made and did not like his character after that. Kim wants to know about the power of forgiveness and said that he has apologized and tried to make amends.
Hillary Clinton is having problems because she is “not a jock.” She is a speed walker, but that is not enough, apparently. Kim joked that she should go out to the park and play some touch football with Chelsea.
Elisabeth said that the girlfriend of LeBron James is set to deliver their second child on Father’s Day and there is a chance he will miss it because of the NBA playoffs. Elisabeth said that she couldn’t imagine if Tim was not there for the birth of their child (aside: I don’t think that Tim would be quite as missed from his team as LeBron would be from his). Barbara said that since this will be their second child, it is about time that LeBron married the girlfriend.
Seth Green appeared on the show to promote his animated show Robot Chicken, which is part of the Adult Swim line-up on the Cartoon Network. They showed a clip from the Star Wars episode, in which President Bush believes he has Jedi powers. George Lucas provides his own voice in the episode. Seth loved the opportunity to direct George Lucas. Seth provides about 30-60 voices a week for the show.
Seth has been in the business since age seven and has never had any aspirations to do anything else. He considers himself a geek based on his vast knowledge of comics, Star Wars, and other pop culture elements.
Rihanna appeared on the show and sang “Umbrella” from her new album Good Girl Gone Bad. She said that she has not made a conscious decision to change her image, but is just dressing how she is feeling, which translates into a sexier look. Her legs were recently insured by Lloyd’s of London for $1 million. She was recently named this year’s celebrity “legs of a goddess” by Venus, the makers of shaving products.
Rihanna grew up in Barbados and her neighbors used to complain when she would sing in the shower. When she was eight years old, she knew she wanted to be a singer and admired Mariah Caray. Her new album features Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake, among others.
Review of Kim Coles: Overall, I think she did very well. I thought she seemed very comfortable and was very upbeat. They did not really discuss any serious topics, so it is unclear how she would handle topics on politics, the war, etc. She did not really hesitate to give her opinions, even when they were contrary to another host (like on the Isaiah Washington issue), though, which is good. What did you all think of her? For those of you that missed it, she will be back on Thursday to co-host again.
