cho.jpgMargaret Cho sat in as guest host today. She is on the True Colors tour with Cyndi Lauper and Rosie O’Donnell, among others. Tonight’s show is at Radio City Musical Hall. Margaret said that she kind of misses her dogs more than her husband while she is on tour. She would like to get a “dog prostitute” so she can have a dog to spend time with while she is away from them.

They talked about the Daytime Emmys and the fact that they lost in both categories. Joy reiterated her theory that the voters will always find one or more of the hosts to dislike. The View did win in hair and make-up.

Barbara Walters talked about getting her star on the walk of fame. She said that she is “hip” because she is in between Ryan Seacrest and Destiny’s Child. The showed a clip of the ceremony. Elisabeth interviewed several of the fans who were waiting for the ceremony to start. In her speech, Barbara said that award is “an Emmy, an Oscar, and a Tony all in one.” She said that she will “walk taller and walk prouder from this day forward.” After the ceremony Elisabeth interviewed several celebrities, including Marcia Cross and Kathy Hilton.

Margaret said that she was on the first ever Asian-American sitcom, All-American Girl. She said now that there a lot more Asian people on television these days, but they spread them out and only have one per show. She was told by the producers of her sitcom that she had to lose weight, even though she was playing herself. She lost a lot of weight for the sitcom and ended up in the hospital.

They talked about a diet pill, alli, that has bad side effects. Margaret says that it makes you shoot orange grease. She joked that might be fun for 4th of July, but not the rest of the year. Barbara said that people who take the medication are warned to carry an extra change of clothes with them.

Elisabeth brought up a new show called Age of Love. It features a 30 year old man who is looking to find a mate. The contestants are separated into two teams by age: the cougars (in their 40s) and kittens (in their 20s). Margaret said that people aren’t sexy until at least age 35.

Kyra Sedgwick appeared on the show to promote the new season of The Closer. Kyra said that people get better as they get older in every way. As an actor, she has more life experiences to draw on. She thinks she is sexier than she ever was and is happier than she has ever been with her body. She has been married to Kevin Bacon for almost 19 years. She said that when she first met him she was interested. It took her about two weeks to get interested in him. She said it is challenging to do the show in Los Angeles, while her family lives in New York. Kyra thinks that her character is so popular because she is flawed and real. Kyra will be producing this season as well.

Mario Cantone appeared on the show to talk about the Daytime Emmy Awards. He came out and greeting the hosts with “Hello losers!” He said it is the only award show where people you have never heard of win awards that no one cares about. He suggested that if they want to win, they have to be lesbians. Elisabeth then began to cuddle with Barbara and Barbara made a kissy-face at her.

He said that Ellen DeGeneres was dressed like Pinocchio. In her speech, Ellen jokedthat since The View’s hot topics segment was so popular, she was going to do a new segment called “hot pockets.” Mario said that she has been doing hot pockets for years. Joy said she didn’t get it and the audience didn’t laugh. Mario said, “It is a lesbian joke. Shut up. They can’t all be winners.”

He said that the show won best hairstyle because they were up against Dr. Phil. Mario said that he was worried that one of Rachael Ray’s breasts were going to fall out of her dress. He said that if it happened, she would have slapped a little EVOO on it.

He said that it concerned him that Elmo all of a sudden has a sex drive because he said “hubba hubba” to Tyra Banks. He said that it gives “tickle me elmo” a whole new meaning. Eric Steinberg from The Young and the Restless was wearing a Burmese sarong. Mario said, “I didn’t think anybody could be gayer than me, but apparently I was wrong.”
