Kassie DePaiva to guest host October 24th
The View has announced the first of the guest hosts to be taking the place of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, whose maternity leave starts next week. One Life to Live star Kassie DePaiva will guest host next Wednesday October 24th.
Kassie guest hosted in May of this year. I do not really remember her that well, and my recap does not really indicate whether I liked her or not.
Here is a blurb about Kassie from the press release:
Mrs. DePaiva recently released her third CD “I Want to Love.” In addition to her music and playing one of daytime’s most entertaining troublemakers Blair Manning on “One Life to Live,” Mrs. DePaiva is also the host of the PBS series “Knit & Crochet Today.” Her 10-year-old son JQ was born profoundly deaf and the singer/actress remains committed to hearing health awareness.
Mrs. DePaiva and “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd are both to attend the 12th annual “ABC Super Soap Weekend” at Disney-MGM Studios at The Walt Disney World Resort, Presented by Colgate® Total® November 10-11. The weekend will feature over 30 ABC Daytime stars, autograph sessions, celebrity motorcades, talk shows, interviews and the chance to purchase one-of-a-kind memorabilia from each of the shows. The Colgate Total Street Jam will close the event each day with live musical performances by some popular Daytime stars.

I remember when she was on before. I liked her when she was on. She seemed very intelligent, and respectful of other people’s opinions, which is a serious improvement over EH.

Has anyone seen this list from Rosie’s blog about who she’d want for a gameshow panel?
nathan lane
roseanne
cyndi lauper
ross matthews
kathy griffin
mario cantone
I’d love to see any and all of them guest host, but I guess chances of that are slim.
On another note, does anyone else think Sherri is generally unfunny? IMO, she tries hard, but she just doesn’t have that gift. She also talks about being a Christian, but seems to do lots of mean-spirited things–riding her bike on the sidewalk and telling the old people to move, for example.

anon: I thought Sherri was really funny when she was a guest host. But she’s too toned down now. But then everyone’s personalities seem to be too tones down lately.

Yeah, I guess Barbara probably has a hand in that. Rosie’s right, she needs to retire already. She’s really pulling the show down.

Toned down, yes, and (for me, anyway) doesn’t work on any level. I mainly want it to be good discussions of important topics, including messy ones like the war & other serioius issues, and not with the usual retreaded commentary and knee-jerk sound bytes you hear on cable “news” shows. I don’t mean being controversial just for the sake of being controversial. (Which is why the idea of Coulter or Inghram doesn’t appeal to me–they just would be beliigerent for the sake of it, and wouldn’t add a substantive right-wing voice; just more predictable sound-bytes & fodder for the mainstream press.) And if it doesn’t have the courage to do that, then it could at least be quick and bright and funny…. I said it elsewhere, but will repeat it here: I keep thinking if they could reduce the number of hot topics & would have the panelists do their homework more, they could have more indepth & interesting discussions. Also, EH MIGHT, just might not be quite so motormouthed and anxious about getting in her Fox talking points.
I’ve lost so much interest , I can barely remember to set the VCR anymore. I wish Rosie were back. The others did NOT go in lockstep with her, by any means, even Joy, which made it interesting. Oh, well. ABC has made its choice to tame it and erase all traces of the Rosie year.

Very well put, Peaches. BW seems to think women should only care about Cozmo topics like how to please your man or those god-awful studies. It’s ironic the person who used to be a pioneer for women is now totally holding us back.
And a non-motormouth EH? Isn’t that an oxymoron?

I certainly enjoyed the shows when Rosie was on as well.
I also think it would be more interesting, as Peaches said, if they reduced the Hot topics and had more in depth discussions. I think the show really needs a change. Pre -Rosie the show was okay, after, it does seem dull. I think they are going to have to change their format, if they want the viewers. I just think the way it is, is getting old.
so I agree with Peaches.

“BW seems to think women should only care about Cozmo topics like how to please your man or those god-awful studies.”
I think it has a lot to do with her age. That’s why she had such a problem with Rosie speaking out. I realize that BW has a lot of famous friends, but that shouldn’t stop the other hosts on the View from criticizing them, if they deserve it.
When EH brings up Monica, I wish someone would mention the fact that Rudy cheated on his wife too. He married the mistress, who happens to be friends with Bw.
