Kathy Griffin’s “Audition”
Kathy Griffin appeared as guest host today on The View. Like all of the guest hosts these days, it is hard not to look at her appearance as an audition for a permanent spot on the show. On Rosie’s video blog this morning, Kathy stopped by and chatted for a few minutes. She expressed a desire to have a permanent spot on the show and Rosie said that she would give her some tips once the camera was off.
I think she did a good job on the show today, although she has to learn to speak more loudly in certain instances. There were a few times during the hot topics that she spoke too softly that no one heard her joke or comment. One time Rosie repeated something she said because she hadn’t said it loud enough. Also, did anyone else notice the way that Barbara Walters cut her off a few times? It seemed like Barbara was much chattier than usual today and maybe she was testing Kathy to see how she would react? The only other negative thing was that Kathy tried to make some jokes during the interview portions that kind of fell flat. I think maybe the audience is used to the hosts letting the guests try to be funny during those segments, so her comedy didn’t quite work there.
What did you all think about her hosting job today?

I love Kathy Griffin. She’d be just edgy enough but not too far.

I love Kathy Griffin but I don’t think she’d be the right one for the job.
