March 27th Recap: Beth Ostrosky and John Lithgow
Howard Stern’s fiancee, Beth Ostrosky, sat in as guest host. She met Howard seven years ago at dinner party. Prior to meeting him, he used to scare her. When she met him in person, however, she saw his beautiful eyes and realized that he is not scary. She said that away from his show he is very sweet. Howard Stern used to criticize Rosie O’Donnell on his show, but they have since become cordial with one another. Rosie said that he ruined six years of her life because his fans would yell things at her at the mall and scare her. She said that she admires him now because he tells the truth.
Beth said that after she met Howard, she called her mom to tell her. Her mom hung up on her and then went to church everyday for two weeks to pray. Beth said that she went to a dinner party recently and was very excited because Barbara Walters was going to be there and she is a big fan. She told Howard that they should position themselves near Barbara so that she could talk to her. Howard spent the whole night talking and laughing with Barbara and could not stop talking about her on the way home. Beth joked that even though Howard is around models and strippers for his radio show, the one woman she was jealous of was Barbara Walters!
Beth said that Howard Stern is having his fans vote for Sanjaya on American Idol and she believes that is why he hasn’t been voted off yet. She is mad at Howard for this because it is mean to vote for someone you think is bad. She said the only other fight they have had is when Beth went to a male masseuse after promising that she would not. Beth is a spokesperson for the Northshore Animal League, which is the world’s largest no-kill animal shelter and saves 10,000 animals a year.
Rosie brought out a six week old baby, who is starring on All My Children. She ran into the mom and the babies coming off the elevator this morning. Rosie joked that she wanted to take the baby home with her. She has hinted on her blog that if Kelli was willing, she would want another baby. I am sure that holding the little one today just reinforced that feeling.
The next topic was that Katie Couric is coming under scrutiny because of the somewhat hardball attitude she took in her interview with Elizabeth and John Edwards. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that Katie asked the questions that everyone is asking, but that people expected her to have some emotion about the situation because she has been through a similar situation when her husband died. Elisabeth suggested that she did not want to get emotional, so she didn’t compare their situation to her own.
Joy Behar said that the criticism is because Katie is a woman. She said Katie was a bit harsh and that she looked a bit uncomfortable in that role. People are often criticizing her for being a softie and now that she is acting tougher, she is being criticized for that, too.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck brought up a bill that has been proposed in Texas where the government will give pregnant woman who are consider abortion, $500 to not get the abortion. Elisabeth, who is pro-life, said that since abortions are often “based on convenience,” maybe the money would be an incentive for people to consider adoption instead. Rosie pointed out that there are thousands of unwanted children in foster care and to add more unwanted children through this legislation would be bad.
Beth brought up a Newsweek article that she said had really touched her. The article presents the words of soldiers killed in Iraq, through their letters and e-mails to their family. You can read the series of articles online here.
John Lithgow appeared on the show to talk about his latest children’s book Mahalia Mouse Goes to College. Like the mouse in the book, Lithgow also went to Harvard and he wrote the book in honor of the graduating class when he was asked to give the commencement speech. Lithgow said that he was impressed by John and Elizabeth Edwards coming out with her illness and that it is very courageous. He added that having that passion is the best curative there is.
Here are the spring cleaning tips from today’s show:

On today’s show they kept calling Howard Stern a monster but he’s not such a monster to women. He’s given many women chances to direct. The studios are not being as cool to female directors. Howard was the first person to distribute my film.

I didn’t enjoy Beth O. on the View today. She didn’t weigh in on the heavy issues. She was kind of boring.

[...] Rosie has said that she admires Stern because “he tells the truth.” Rosie also showed support for Stern in January when she congratulated him on The View and on her blog for his success at SIRIUS radio, which resulted in a sizable bonus for him. Howard’s fiancee Beth Ostrosky even appeared as a guest host on The View in March. [...]

Beth O., enjoy it while Howard can tolerate you. As soon as he sees a blemish on you that doesn’t make him look good, he will dump your skinny ass. He used to refer to girls like you as corn-fed but, in you, he seems to have gone out of his way to pick a super fugly gal with your long head and The Joker mouth. Grinning is not your best look. Try to contain it. I hope you wont’ be too mad when he starts really hearing your vapid remarks of high school days and saving pets. You’re lucky, Howard, she’s too stupid to ask for much pallimoney but, we’ll see when the time comes. I’m sure your attorneys have told you that if you break it off, she gets to keep the ring but you can afford not to fight her on that. Keep telling yourself that a childish girl-like woman is in love with an old man. Ugh! Do you not imagine what goes through her mind when she sees your wrinkly body?

Apart from Beth’s face looking like a cartoon, she has as much charisma as a potted plant but from a distance, she appears to be good-looking.
I’m certain there is no wedding in the offing but Howard’s been painted himself into a corner. He purchased this piece of furniture to round out his domestic inventory and now it wants to be treated like a human being.
He’s thinking what can she bring to the table that another million or so other thin blondes can’t plus some of them would be educated and have something to say as well as be a hell of a lot younger. There’s a race on among rich old men who have the means to purchase the youngest legal female so Howard would be stupid to invest more money in this pig in a poke when she could be so easily replaced.
Everything this “model” puts on looks like some pieces she picked up at the local thrift shop for $2.00 each. Just look at the picture in the thick gray knitted dress, black bag and shoes. It’s pathetic. She can’t help those ugly-ass legs and size 12 feet so I wouldn’t criticize her for those. ninja calls her the nuptial beast and I ‘m afraid I must agree just by going by this picture.
What if she gains 80 pounds or her personality changes as soon as he’s signed the marriage contract? He’s thinking of that and I predict this schoolgirl act she’s been sporting for eight years will be dropped in a N.Y. minute as soon as she knows she’s home safe and any wrong move on his part and it’s going to be the money battle of the century.
Phillip McCracken calls her an “ugly ass golddigging whore” A little harsh, n’est pas?
