May 28th Recap: The last day of Rosie
Today’s episode was new, but previously recorded two weeks ago. As a result, Rosie O’Donnell appeared in this episode, which will be her last new episode of The View. There was a “previously recorded” icon in the corner for most of the day, so all the viewers would understand that there had not been some miraculous reunion.
They celebrated Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s 30th birthday. They showed photos of each of the hosts at age 30. For her gift, Rosie told Elisabeth that she and her family could have Rosie’s house in Miami to themselves for a week. I doubt that the offer is still valid after the fight and I doubt that Elisabeth would take her up that offer anyway.
They talked about how there is a new test for pregnant women to determine the sex of their baby as early as six weeks gestation. Elisabeth said that she doesn’t want to know the gender ahead of time. Rosie said that she wants to know and she will have to call Elisabeth’s doctor and bribe him into giving her the information.
Avril Lavigne appeared on the show. She has been singing and performing since age 7 and writing songs since she was 14. She quit school in grade 11. She admires Alanis Morissette, a fellow Canadian. Avril doesn’t like the paparazzi and spits on them. Her husband, who is in the band Sum 41, has the same manager, so they try to coordinate their schedules so that they have time off together and tour in the same countries. She performed two songs from her new album The Best Damn Thing: “Girlfriend” and “When You’re Gone.”
The show held a segment on “Bathing suit Do’s and Don’ts”:
At the end of the show, Barbara Walters wheeled out a birthday cake for Elisabeth and everyone sang to her. The genuine happiness of that moment is a sharp contrast to the anger that would be on the stage only a few days later.

I think it is sad that this had to be the last show with Rosie–Elisabeth’s birthday.
I’m not sure if the offer to use her house would still be valid, or not. I’m not sure how well I really know rosie. For me, it would still be valid. I would not take back my gift.

Elisabeth wants to stay in the White House not Rosie’s house. Rosie has been too kind to someone who’s not worth the effort.

I thought it was funny the “previously recorded” icon was displayed in the corner. Normally they only show that for a few seconds at the beginning of the show. Yea, I guess it was so viewers would not be confused.

Did anyone else find it wrong that they brought out the cake then dropped the confetti which made the cake inedible?

Wow, what a boring show. Broadway numbers would be better than Avril Lavigne and swimsuits. Well, that’s all, folks. The End.

That’s right, the end of Rosie on the View, the theme song for tomorrow’s show should be Independence Day by Martina Mcbride. Considering they’re finally free of the ego maniac control freak.

Can’t resist another dig, can you? lol Take a little time to enjoy The View… in its slide into irrelevance.

Thanks for ruining a great show, Elisabeth. Wow! An immature, ego-maniac, my way or the highway control freak like Elisabeth, needs to hit the road OFF the View.

Wow, Janet, are you high?? Do you really think the EH has been the ego-maniac on that set? I am not a big EH fan, though I don’t hate her as much as some here, but puh-leeze…
Rosie came onto an existing show and STEAMROLLED it. She even slipped one time and said “Welcome to the View, I am your host, Rosie O’Donnell.” I couldn’t believe it–she was part of an ensemble show. Her EGO is almost as big as her fat A$$!

I don’t know Donna, Rosie hosted her own show for many years… it’s an easy thing to slip up. Besides, she brought a lot of money and attention to an otherwise boring show- if anyone on the show deserves an ego, it’s Rosie. I think some of the other hosts are jealous.
I’m not a conservative myself, but I think they need to find a smarter person to represent right wing views than EH. She just spouts off a watered down version of bad right wing talk shows.
I didn’t always agree with Rosie, but at least she puts her money where her mouth is… she actually visits wounded soldiers and is working to bring them home.

Does anyone know where Elisabeth’s birthday dress was from? (It was a babydoll dress with multicolor watercolor splotches). It was gorgeous and I’d like to track it down… Thanks!

Too bad the show is now without Rosie. Now we can all enjoy the same mostly regurgitated pap with barely any contrast or dissent.
I pray for her.
