Stacee, yes I flip flopped

Wow! TLB (EH) was totally arrogant in trying to assume she knew more about the surge than the Speaker of the House. Nancy is 100 percent right on the purpose of the surge and why it hasn’t completely worked. It was as if Nancy was scolding a child that continues to ask the same question over and over. Next Nancy should just say “because I said so” .

Nancy should get in touch with Dennis. I’m sure he can provide her with much needed info.

  2. mibi Says:

so eh wants obama to admit that the surge was a success but does not care that the president cannot admit this war was a mistake (or that he has even made a mistake as president if i remmber correctly)

  3. marjie anderson Says:

WE thought it not very fair that Obama is always glorified whether it be picturea, comments pretty much everything. WE also didn’t think Joy’s comment was appropriate about Bush being impeached for his crimes. Which crimes are those exactly. The bias on thos show and pretty much all networks is ridiculous!

  4. erica Says:

    Dear “the View”,
I’m so glad Joy asked the speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosy, about impeaching the president. Mrs. Pelosi’s answer was extremely vague. She never really answered the question. She listed some so called bi-partisan efforts regarding the minimam wage and other stuff but never explained why the nation should not look at the criminal acts of Bush and Cheney.
They are bold-faced liars who have used the american trust to enrich their business-friends. They also authorized torture at off-shore locations. They have so changed America that I’m afraid to even write this e-mail. Barbara, since you are a journalist I ask you to address this situation. Please. If you’re too scared, ask Whoopie and Joy for help.
    Thank you,
    Erica.

  5. erica Says:

Corrrection: line four, the word should be spelled mimimum.

  6. erica Says:

    Minimum. Now I’m done.

  7. Kelly Says:

Here are a few impeachable crimes Marjie Anderson:

The Iraq War – The First Unlawful and Unethical War of the Third Millennium

This misleading of Americans into War based on WMDs

The selling of the war by manipulating 9/11 emotions and instilling fear in Americans

The lack of follow-up care for 9/11 responders

The siphoning of billions of dollars into Homeland Security profiteers

The killing of thousands of US Soldiers

Killing of US Soldiers through Friendly Fire and subsequent cover-ups: Pat Tillman and other unnamed soldiers

Killing of US Soldiers in electrical gaffs by corrupt US contractors

Killing of US Soldiers due to inadequate equipment

Abysmal care and facilities for wounded soldiers despite billions spent on war

The killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians (women and children)

The orphaning and disfigurement of 5 MILLION Iraqi children

Halliburton and $500 million tax dollars stolen leaving US Soldiers vulnerable and dead

Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay unlawful crimes against the US ratified Geneva
Convention and War Crimes Act of 1996 which lead to American beheadings

Oil, oil companies, oil CEOs, tax breaks to oil companies swimming in record profits

The placement of incompetent political appointees: FEMA Director Michael Brown and Hurricane Katrina; Energy Secretary Sam Bodman, one of country’s worst polluters

Bush Response to Hurricane Katrina vs Hurricane Frances (in Jeb Bush’s state)

    Treatment of Katrina evacuees

    Poisoning of Katrina evacuees

Tax dollars siphoned to hurricane profiteers

US Health care and the millions who have died for lack thereof

The dismemberment of the Middle Class

    and the US Economy

    …just to name a few.

#4 Erica - “They have so changed America that I’m afraid to even write this e-mail.”

I laughed at your comment until I stopped and realized that these days, one should be afraid to exercise Freedom of Speech. I just know that there’s something about that in the fine print of The Patriot Act.

#3 Marjie Anderson - Time to wake up from your nap, dear. Where in line were you to impeach Clinton for his lie about something legally he shouldn’t have been asked in the first place?

#7 Kelly - Your list of reminders brings me to tears! “Crimes Against (worldwide) Humanity” sums it up for me.

  9. Michael Says:

Mibi- Obama is running on “change,” not “more of the same.” That’s why he should answer while bush doesn’t. Your argument sounds like the reps defending bush by pointing out all the clinton lies.

Erica- Didn’t the speaker of the house say bush hadn’t committed any crimes? She asked Joy what crimes and Joy sat there like a deer in headlights. All of the bush bashing Joy has done on the show when the time came to make her case she didn’t even try. I wonder why.
I’m sorry you don’t feel safe expressing your opinion, millions of others have no problem bashing bush and as far as I know, Rosie still hasn’t been transferred to gitmo.

Kelly- Your list of impeachable crimes isn’t based in facts. For one thing, just imagine if all those “crimes” were impeachable, what does it say about the democrats for not impeaching bush. Wouldn’t they be considered “accomplices?”
I googled the crime you listed about “The orphaning and disfigurement of 5 MILLION Iraqi children.” I couldn’t find one legitimate news source that had that figure, strangely enough I found multiple sources from left-leaning websites with that exact quote. The only what I call legitimate webpage that had “5 million iraqi children” was a UNICF page talking about how many children that have been received vaccinations.

  10. Kelly Says:

Michael – as much as I would like to fine-tooth-comb this with you, the significant point is this: People are dead and dying based on lies. I worked in government for 15 years and am very aware of the inner workings. I have family that served in Iraq, who are waiting to return. All press is suspect. All fact, numbers, stats can be questioned, that doesn’t lessen the devastating effect of death on a family…for generations. Have you become so desensitized, so fixated on being statistically accurate that you trashed your common sense? I am weary of this administration. I have been effected in every possible way and answering to you, and people like you, nick-pick extremist unwilling to allow another view, opinion or fact crack through your closely held political beliefs is a great waste of my time. The heart of America is broken…and so is mine.

  11. Michael Says:

Wasn’t it talked about on the show yesterday the incident of Obama’s private prayer in the western wall made public?

a Ma’ariv [the newspaper that published the prayer] spokesman said that “Barack Obama’s note was approved for publication in the international media even before he put in the Kotel, a short time after he wrote it at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.
    http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1215331112489&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

  12. Kelly Says:

    That’s a good point…

  13. Michael Says:

    Kelly-
People are dead and dying based on lies.

I guess the question is whether it’s based on lies or based on incompetent government employees working in the intelligence field.

It is a big leap of logic to believe that bush lied about everything, lied convincingly enough to get almost all the democrats on board to go to war and now, the democrats aren’t impeaching him. If someone lied to me and people died with their blood on my hands, I would hang them from the rafters by their male parts.

There’s no discussion that democrats that were on senate intelligence committees prior to the war agreed with bush about wmds.

Yes, all those deaths in iraq are a tragedy.

so fixated on being statistically accurate that you trashed your common sense?

I personally feel that accurate facts & figures are the basis for common sense. If I said I was against abortion because America aborts 500 million children a year my inaccurate facts would call into question my common sense.

  14. rainlillie Says:

Kelly and the rest of the ladies here on WTV.

That’s an out right lie about Obama approving publication of the prayer.
    ——–
“His face hidden, his identity only revealed with the first Hebrew initial of his name — Aleph — a yeshiva student went on Israel’s Channel 2 on Sunday to confess that he had taken the prayer note of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, from Obama’s visit to the Western Wall and given it to the press.

“I am asking for Obama’s forgiveness,” said Aleph. “If he was offended by it… of course he was, this is not a nice thing to do. It was sort of a prank. I hope he will forgive us, and we hope that he will win the presidency.”

The Rabbi in charge of the Western Wall, Shmuel Rabinovitz, harshly condemned Aleph’s pilfering of the prayer, as well as the publication of the prayer by the Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv.

“Heaven forbid that one should read them or use them in any way,” Rabinovitz said. “This sacrilegious action deserves sharp condemnation and represents a desecration of the holy site.”
    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/07/yeshiva-student.html

It’s truly disgusting that the right wing parrots would even go after some as sacred as a prayer note..DISGUSTING!

Aleph gave the note to Channel 2’s religious affairs reporter who gave it to the Western Wall Heritage Foundation which returned it to the Western Wall.”

  15. rainlillie Says:

    Excellent, truthful points Kelly.

  16. rainlillie Says:

Anyone who takes the time to read through this thread, please research the facts presented here. “People are entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.”

I just want the truth to be put out there regardless of where the chips may fall. The American people have been lied to enough. Don’t rely on others to tell you what’s going on, find out for yourself.

  17. Kelly Says:

    Thanks rainlillie.

Michael - I was a statistician; all numbers are pliable…ALL. I was a publisher; all media is biased…ALL. You cannot rely on numbers. You cannot rely on news.
I am speaking from my own personal experiences. You don’t see me defending Pelosi…I’m very angry with the Democrats right now. Something has gone horribly wrong. Why is Pelosi peddling a book instead of fighting for our troops? However, I am behind Obama 100%. This war cannot be ‘won.’

And you know if we keep this up, Winnie will ‘delete us’ again. I happen to like this site.

  18. berndoubt Says:

It’s not a big leap of logic to say that Bush lied. He listened to the opinions that suited his goals and only those opinions. And, he wasn’t the only one in on the deceit. He had an entire staff working to make the case for war against someone that the United States put into power to begin with. Unfortunately, Democrats are constantly bullied into hawkish behavior because they fear looking like they are soft and weak. If the Dems hadn’t authorized the war, you’d be complaining about that now. Thinking is not weak. Using logic is not weak. How long was it between the attacks on 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq? Wasn’t there time to find the truth? There was, but instead Bush and Cheney and all the other liars found what they wanted, which was a way to occupy an oil-rich country indefinitely.

And the other problem for the Dems is that instead of wasting time and money on an impeachment and further dividing the country, they will move on and again it will be seen as weakness. As the Republicans are basking in the glory of not dealing with an impeachment they are simultaneously laughing at the weak-ass Dems who didn’t impeach.

Remind me again about how it was Clinton’s fault that we were attacked in the first place. Because he was too busy with impeachment procedures for an adult act that was performed consensually. And tell me about the people held and tortured without consent. Which is the bigger crime?

    Phew. I feel better now.

  19. Stacee Says:

Good points raised, berndoubt & kelly.
Thanks Rain, for your input about the prayer leak. More grasping at straws again from them, I see.
mibi, I agree; I too was glad Joy asked the question of impeachment.

Sorry, did not like the green dress Sherri wore.
I loved the manner in which NP responded to Bitsy. Joy looked like she did too.

  20. Michael Says:

The left leaning The New Republic has a little more info than the israeli paper I linked to.

    http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/07/28/is-anything-sacred.aspx

In the meantime, I’ve found additional quotes from Ma’ariv spokesmen to three other Israeli publications reaffirming their narrative—and going even further than their quotes to the Jerusalem Post by explicitly saying that the Obama campaign approved the printing of the letter, and even gave copies of the note to members of the international media before he went to the Western Wall.
[there were links in the paragraph that didn't make the copy/paste]

  21. rainlillie Says:

You’re welcome Stacee and Kelly.

  22. mibi Says:

In my early message i was trying to point out EH hypocrisy not what obama should or should not do

“In any case, since Obama is not a Jew, publishing the note does not constitute an infringement on his right to privacy’
is the rest of the quote which says to me they are not sure of there stance and at this point anyone for that publicationis going to say they had permission. ( this is not to say that i would put it past a politican to publish there own prayer )

  24. Michael Says:

Fun times on the earthquake express.

But I wanted to comment on what was said on the show when they were talking about the Los Angeles City council decision to ban any new fast foods in the predominately African-American part of town.

I believe the democrats [of the elite ruling class] are racist, from the days of founding the KKK to today. Why today?

The ban proves that democrats/liberals that’s called the city council understand that white people are able to make informed decisions for themselves, but those blacks aren’t capable and need the government to make the decision for them. Ouch!!

  25. Kit Kat Says:

Kelly, I agree. I think Nancy has been a weak sister and should have grabbed the ball and done a lot more. Screw trying to placate and make nice to W and Cheney.

  26. Kit Kat Says:

when, oh, when will they ever pull EH???????

  27. W Williams Says:

    TO: THE VIEW
RE: Speaker Pelosi and the Impeachment Question of July 28th, 2008

“If somebody had a crime the president had committed, that would be a different story.” That was the specific comment the Speaker made on the program.

Now, she is wrong on both counts… one, that committing a crime and proof of such crime being the first criteria for starting Impeachment is in error outright. 1) Impeachment is to be the conduction of a hearing to see if an abuse of the office has been committed, and 2) a crime is not required grounds for Impeachment and removal from office but dereliction of duty if the Congress and Senate so deem it.

The sole reason to Impeachment, ie, the investigation of a President… is to question if the President violated the Constitution and his oath of office. Clearly there are grounds for such a full hearing.

If the Speaker believes that it is valid to allow the destruction of the Constitution by this President to go without an investigation (Impeachment) in order to pass bipartisan legislation, then she is sorely mistaken as this President has acted to Veto almost all of the legislation she suggested this Congress passed.

You missed a golden opportunity to defend our Constitution and our Nation by questioning these flawed points raised by the Speaker. I hope you will have the good sense to ask the Speaker back as soon as possible to not only provide her with all the Articles of Impeachment presented by Congressman Kucinich:

    http://kucinich.us/impeachment/articles.pdf

The above article in the document by the way, are specific crimes he wants to investigate by the process of Impeachment, but also to ask her clearly why she finds it so easy to tread on her own obligation and oath of office to defend the Constitution that she has failed to do for the past 2 years.

Impeachment must never be off the table where such massive abuses have been conducted by this or any White House. If she also thinks that if no Impeachment is conducted now, the Republicans will not do it again to a future Democratic President, she is sorely misinformed about the culture of the Republican Right. They will do whatever is necessary to disrupt and destroy the Constitution and the wealth of this nation, and the track records are miles long of proof.

As for the long standing excuse that there is not sufficient time to conduct Impeachment, the question to ask is, is there never a good time to save the Constitution and our nation from criminal acts? Is a President above the law? Failure to conduct Impeachment hearings does set a precedent that says, a President is above the law, and what message does that send to future Presidents, and our nation?

Care to ask her about Vice President Dick Cheney about why she hasn’t proceeded with Impeachment of him as well?

    Thank you,

    Wayne Williams

  28. Tobi Dragert Says:

Nancy Pelosi’s excuses for not impeaching Bush Cheney are absolutely fraudulent. By saying impeachment is off the table, she essentially gave complete permission to that most corrupt administration to give congress the finger at subpoenas, to defy laws passed by congress by entering “signing statements,” by illegally spying on Americans … on and on … they have and had no fear at all!! And here we are, and yet and still, she will not own up to her blunder or try to correct it. What a pathetic example of female leadership. If this is what women bring to the political scene, WHO NEEDS IT??

  29. Kelly Says:

Pelosi’s book titled “Know Your Power: A Message to America’s Daughters” should be retitled to “Sell-out Your Power: A Message to the Speaker of the House.”

She betrayed every single person who voted for her – Congress’s approval ratings are at an all-time low of 14% - and she’s out milking the public’s pocket while Iraq and Bush rage on.

  30. rainlillie Says:

    Kelly & Tobi,
I agree with you both. Tobi great site! :)
