Odds makers weigh in on Rosie O’Donnell’s replacement
I find it very interesting that people would actually be making bets about what happens on The View, but it is true. On bodog.com, you can place wagers regarding who will replace Rosie O’Donnell on The View. Today’s guest hosts Gayle King and Sherri Shepherd are listed at 9/1 and 13/1 respectively.
The odds makers also have the current odds of a “any male host” at 18/1. The rumors have been swirling today that a man could take over the spot, with Ross Mathews and Mario Cantone being listed as possibilities. Both men will be guest hosting on different dates in July.
I certainly think that The View would not be having them co-host if there was not a possibility that they could be selected as a permanent host. In fact, I believe that every guest host that they have had in the last month has been doing a try-out.
Here are the current odds, according to bodog.
Roseanne Barr: 5/2
Kathy Griffin: 3/1
Wanda Sykes: 9/1
Ricki Lake: 9/1
Lauren Graham: 8/1
Bette Midler: 8/1
Marie Osmond: 17/2
Sharon Osbourne: 9/1
Gayle King: 9/1
Jeanie Garafalo: 12/1
Sherri Shepherd: 13/1
Any Male Candidate: 18/1

I’ve recently changed my mind about Kathy Griffin. I think she may actually be a great host. I’ve always loved her but doubted her View-hosting abilities until recently. I hope she gets it!

I got the impression Barb does not like Kathy Griffin.
Gayle moved up a notch for me today. She handled being ‘the lead’ perfectly.
None of the others really stand out for me.

On her radio show, Roseanne said she was not even contacted by The View people despite all the rumors flying around about her being the top candidate. Funny how she’s still on the top of the betting list when she has not even done the guest co-host gig. She’s also very much on Rosie’s side, so I think The View will steer clear of her.

kc: That is interesting about Roseanne. I guess it shows that “insiders” and others that the media keep sourcing don’t really know who is really in the running.

What happened to Whoopie?
Has anyone seen her latest stand-up routine that’s airing on Bravo? It’s not new, but it’s her newest. She says in it that she’s not going to be told what to do or say — but it doesn’t sound so much like she’s going to be outspoken; it’s more like she’s saying she’s not in the mood to go to the mat on issues. It was kind of a tepid baby-boomer-who-is-going-through-menopause-and-can’t-believe-it routine. She even says she feels she’s lost her edge when she hears younger comedians. So. I wonder if that will make her a more boring host, as many on this blog have suggested?
