Photos of Whoopi Goldberg Hosting Tony Awards
For those of you who missed the Tony Awards, here are some photos of host Whoopi Goldberg throughout the show. She dressed up like Mary Poppins at one point, just like Sherri Shepherd did in a segment for The View several months ago. What do you all think of her black dress, the one designed by the Project Runway winner?

As an added bonus, here are a couple photos of Whoopi at the “gifting lounge” for the show, picking up some free things. I thought the first photo was especially funny because she is posing by a coffee maker and she has made it clear that she never drinks coffee.

Since Whoopi has nice legs, I think the black dress would have looked a lot better if it were all one length.

1st hoto: Nice dress, it just does not look right on her IMO. I think the ruffles make it look busy and puffy which is not flattering. A simple, straight cut would have been better.
I agree with Rain; she does have nice legs!

[...] tired than usual, which is not surprising. They showed off a photo of her dress which you can see here. Joy said that she had not seen her legs before. Whoopi said that she hasn’t shown her legs [...]

She looks good. That’s one thing I like about Whoopi, she’s happy in her own style.

thanks Winnie,
Whoopi looks very nice. I agree with Tina, Whoopi has, and is happy, in her own style.

I didn’t know she had legs like that…which, to me, makes it more impressive that she keeps them covered up on the show.
I think she looks great in that dress.

She looked good, liked the silver blouse better than the black outfit, much better fit. I liked the Tony’s this year, would love to see the August:Osage County play.

“I think the ruffles make it look busy and puffy which is not flattering. A simple, straight cut would have been better.”
That’s the word I was thinking of “busy”. I also agree that the “straight cut” would have been better.

ITA with Stacee.
I kept changing the channel last night to catch the dress (Rain, I guess I am a freaky channel surfer-lol
), but missed it. Now that I’ve seen it, I think it was just not the right style for her. I think the designer kept his trademark (kind of Victorian)style, but didn’t blend it with Whoopi’s more matter-of-fact, simple style, which I definitely would have preferred. IMO, it made her look frumpy and older.

Whoopie is a jack(ie) of all trades and can pull off anything. Her multiple costume changes on the Tony’s last night added great fun to the show. I particularly love her respect and love for live theatre. I think she is all around a remarkable and wonderful person.

I was so surprised to see LEGS under the black dress, instead of jeans ( ha ha ). She looked smashing ! I will give the dress a “10″, even though I would have preferred a little less fluff. I thought she might be having a “wardrobe malfunction”, when she first walked on stage holding the front of her black dress, tightly around her boobs. (What was that all about?) I thought the Tonys were a pleasant evening, with the addition of her. You can tell she loves the Theatre.

Why was she holding the dress closed?
She would not let her right arm down.

# 12- “Why was she holding the dress closed?
She would not let her right arm down.”
The only reason that I can think of regarding what looked like a wardrobe malfunction ( #11 comment )….perhaps she did not have enough time between the crab costume and the black dress entrance. I was surprised she did not mention it , on Monday, on The View.

PRIOR POST: 1st hoto: Nice dress, it just does not look right on her IMO.
RESPOSNE: That was exactly my response. It (the black dress) jsut doesn’t look like Whoopi. It looks like Whoopi playing dress-ups. And I love Christian and Project Runway (although I thought Chris March should win.)
PRIOR POST: I think the ruffles make it look busy and puffy which is not flattering. A simple, straight cut would have been better
RESPONSE: Well, Stacy, we are on the same page again. : )
I thought the ruffles gave it a hint of a clown. I kept thinking circus. And again, it wasn’t “Whoopi.”
Thnking about it, I’m not sure waht does look “Whoopi.”

First of all, Christian didn’t really design anything special for her. The black dress was a copy of one she wore a few years ago at another award show. She looked great in it Sunday nite, altho it would’ve been even more gorgeous on her if it were all the short length rather than the uneven length. He didn’t design any other “smashing” outfit for her as he had bragged that he was going to do. Her blouse with jeans was “ok” but a disappointment for the show. i DO love Whoopi and anything she does or wears is fine in my book, but as a host for the Tony’s she should have had a fabulous wardrobe all nite long. She is always superb
and delightful no matter what she hosts,
always showing a lot of compassion, class, and character to everything she does.
LOVE YOU WHOOPI!
