“Ready, Set, View” Ad on ABC Website and Sherri Shepherd Rumors

by Winnie McCarthy

You can now watch the season 12 advertisement for The View on the ABC website. As I wrote about earlier, it is entitled “Ready, Set, View” and has a James Bond theme to it. Click on the image and it will take you to the ABC View main page. The video will load automatically and you are forced to watch a short commercial for a product before The View ad will come on. The video box will be on the left-hand side of the page.

Go watch the commercial and then come back and let me know what you think. Or if you have seen the commercial on television, you can leave your comments as well. I have not yet seen the commercials on television yet, although, admittedly, I have not really been watching anything other than the Olympics this week, which of course is on NBC and its affiliates.

In other news, there continues to be rumors of Sherri Shepherd being fired from the show, the latest coming from this article, which suggests there is an “out clause” in her contract where she can be let go in September. (Thanks to Vegas for the link!) I really don’t know if there is any truth to the rumors, but they certainly don’t seem to be going away.

If there is a plan to opt out of her contract, it seems strange to me that they would include her in the season 12 photo, the big television advertising campaign, as well as continuing to solicit videos from viewers for an upcoming “Sherri Can’t Cook” segment. Of course that could all just be playing nice so that when Sherri leaves the show “to spend time with her son,” or something similar, it won’t seem like she was fired.

  1. Vegas Says:

I just watched the promo and I think it’s cute. However, notice how they are not actually shown throughout the promo, just heard? Then at the end they show the official promo pic. I just hope what they promise is for real. Ironic it was Sherris figure shown with her heard off camera saying ‘no aplogies’.

  2. ShannonP Says:

I’ve never heard of that site before, but it looks like a gossip rag?
I think they kind of like the mix of people on the show now because they are still getting attention. Relevant to BW means making it on all the news sites, it doesn’t matter if people like who is on there or not. Or so it seems to me.
I really hope that Joy steps it up when she comes back. Lots of sheep tune into shows like the View and each one of those sheep have the right to vote. Just letting Elisabeth spout off lies and innuendos and talking points, and sitting there looking like she (Joy) is a cat toying with a mouse…that won’t do any justice for Obama and the Democrats. It’s also not a discussion. Which is supposed to be the concept of the show.

  3. Dana Says:

Issues, not apologies, no holding back… for what? talk about bras, undies, sex, celebrities, reality shows… big deal. I’m not buying it.

  4. Sandy Says:

    Thanks Winnie,
I thought it was a pretty good promotion video. I thought it made the show sound interesting with promises of more intriguing Hot Topics.
However, it is a promotion video, so that’s what I’d expect to see and hear.
I have doubts that things will be much different, but one can certainly hope.

As to Sherri, I don’t think she’s leaving, …but you never know.

  5. Teresa Says:

    It’s cute.

  6. BettySue Says:

It is really cute! I saw the commercial for it today actually! I can’t wait to see the ladies back in action. I have really missed seeing them and the hot topics the past few weeks.

  7. Tina Says:

MEDIATAKEOUT??? That’s not a reliable source, it’s a gossip site! Anyone who’s familiar with that site knows that MEDIATAKEOUT lies about 95% of their info. The majority of the comments on their “news” are questions about the validity of their “sources” & stories. I visit the site because it’s entertaining but I’ve found over the last 2 years that the majority of that stuff is really not very reliable.

  8. Winnie McCarthy Says:

Tina: I hadn’t heard about mediatakeout being unreliable. I don’t think I had even been there before.

  9. Tina Says:

Yep Winnie, they do. Hey, just google, mediatakeout lies. Very unreliable but I guess gossip is the new thing. It’s entertaining. I’m ashamed to admit, I visit that site way too much.
