Recap of Joy Behar on Martha Stewart
Joy Behar appeared on The Martha Stewart Show today to promote her book When you Need a Lift. Martha asked Joy three things that she could do to feel better because she is not having a good day. Joy recommended, “Sex, constant sex.” Also, because Martha watches what she eats, she would go out and “have a great meal and just become an alcoholic today.” Martha said, “I just can’t lose myself in drink. It’s just not me.” Joy responded, “Oh, I can!”
Martha said that she does not have any bad habits. She hates shopping because she does not want wait in line. Joy didn’t believe that Martha had to wait in line at a store.
Martha asked Joy about her new co-hosts and Joy said that they are having a “very, very, fun time.” Martha said that Sherri is so funny and thought she was great when she came on her show a few weeks ago. Joy said that Sherri is sweet, quick, and lovely.
Martha and Joy then made a mask to wear to a masked ball. If you want to make one for yourself, Martha’s website has all of the directions.
While they were crafting, Martha said that Joy’s former co-host Rosie O’Donnell would love this project. Joy said that Rosie is a “craft freak.” Martha said that Rosie loves decoupage, probably because she can just put glue everywhere. Joy said that she went to Rosie’s art show the other night. Joy said, “Wow, those paintings are nutsy!” She added that the paintings are very interesting and that Rosie is a “very talented girl.”
During the “questions from the audience” segment, Joy said that people would be most surprised to learn that she is very domestic. Joy said that she goes to flea markets a lot, but now she has too much stuff.
I saw an advertisement during the show that Rosie O’Donnell will be on The Martha Stewart Show next Wednesday for her Halloween special.

Thanks for the recap Winnie. I have it in my tivo bin to watch. Martha’s show is not on in the daytime here so I catch the reruns on the Fine Living channel. Anyhow, I bought Joy’s book a couple of week’s back and just finished it. I thought it was great and enjoyed it. She actually wrote very little of it and it is really a compilation book. I highly recommend it nevertheless.

I thought Joy was great on Martha’s show. It was good that she got Martha to loosen up and smile a bit in place of her usual evil robot act.
They made face masks with foods like pumpkins and squash as the base, and at first Martha chose a slice of white bread for hers. Joy said, “Martha choses white bread, duh!” ROFL! Martha switched to a squash after that. I love Joy’s wit and humor and I wish she had more time to talk on The View.

I’ve rarely seen Martha’s show, but had to tape it so I could see Joy on it. It cracks me up how awkward Martha is as an interviewer, though of course her crafting and cooking patter is informative and interesting if you’re into that. I am glad Martha mentioned Rosie’s name in the presence of someone from The View & am glad Joy publicly admitted she went to Rosie’s recent art show in NYC. I think Rosie is supposed to be on Martha’s show on Wed., 10/31? Can’t wait.
I was surprised when Joy said she is a pretty domestic person; though I do recall she once said that while she was a young stay-at-home mom, she crafted like crazy to overcome some of the boredom. Her comments about Martha’s white bread mask were so funny. I love Joy!

Peaches,
Thanks for the reminder, I forgot Rosie was doing Martha’s show.

Yeah, Barbara treats Rosie like they treated Voldemort in Harry Potter. They might as well start referring to her as she-who-must-not-be-named. It was refreshing to see Martha throw that all out the window and actually acknowledge that Rosie exists and that she was a part of The View.

Speaking of Harry Potter … have they mentioned on The View the recent flap surrounding Rowling’s statement (a response to a question, actually) about Dumbledor (sp?) being gay?

Not as of yet, Peaches. I thought they would have. Rosie referred to it on her blog though–she said she thought it was fantastic in response to a reader question.
