Rosie: “I’ll always love the kid. That’s why it hurts.”
In an interview with LOGO at the True Colors Tour, Rosie O’Donnell said that she thinks that both she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck learned a lot this year. She also said that she will always love Elisabeth and “that’s why it hurts” that they have had a falling out.
The video also has Rosie doing a bit of stand-up, showing off her drumming skills, and dancing with Ross Mathews.
A big thank you to reader kc for sending me the link to the video!

I was touched by this interview, especially when she told the joke about Vivie’s indignance at the press calling Rosie fat and ugly. That’s got to be extra painful when your kids are aware of the nasty things people are saying about your appearance. I felt for her, and I think she seemed to be in pain in this interview. (For the record, I don’t think she’s ugly at all & when all dolled up, looks quite nice.) I wish dissent could be restricted to what people say & how they act rather than how they look.

I think the ‘friendship’ has run it’s course. I know for me, I’ve had friends where you have a falling out due to differences. You hold or harbor no ill-will, but you’d rather not go down that road again in an attempt to work it out. Sometimes it’s best to let things be, remember the good times and go on.
I really don’t think they were true friends. My opinion is Rosie tried but Elizabeth has deep personal religious feelings that may coincide with Rosie’s lifestyle. The political differences did not help.

I’ve always said that they eren’t “friends”, but rather “coworkers”. There is a big difference. You pick your friends based on a variety of reasons, but you do your best to get along with your coworkers. Friendship isn’t required.

Rosie tried to be friends with Elisabeth, no doubt about that. Rosie took her out to the theater and invited the Hasselbecks to her daughter’s birthday party. They emailed each other about American Idols. They made gifts for each other. They had disagreements and then made up. I thought Rosie almost treated her like her little sister. I think they would have stayed friends or at least friendly but for the very public fight.

Well, then, even worse that Rosie is being a big baby. EH has tried to move on. It shouldn’t have been a public fight–Rosie started that. She was PO’d that whole, fateful day, just waiting to pounce. Her disgust was unmistakeable. So then the whole thing blows up on-air, and she blames EH and the EP for it. EH said from day one that friends can have their differences, but the relationship is stronger. RO was the one that took her toys home cuz she got her ass beat! I like RO, but she is two-faced in this case. She loves to beat up on people, but gets her feelings hurt when it happens back. Who among us hasn’t had a blow up with our friends? (Granted, not on air, but that WAS ro’s doing….) You kiss and make up and move on, if it’s a friend. EH has made it very clear she is interested in being friends, but also isn’t dumb enough to think it will really happen…
