Rosie O’Donnell Posts Link To Old View Clip of Sean Hannity
Despite being a month-long blog vacation, Rosie O’Donnell posted a link to this YouTube clip with the title “2 years ago.” It is a segment when she was a guest host on The View which features guest Sean Hannity. Although the person who posted the clip did not know the exact date, it had to have been more than two years ago because Meredith Vieira was still on the show when this episode aired and she left at the beginning of June in 2006. Also, given that Rosie says in the clip that she does not have a job, this had to have been before she was hired on as the show’s moderator, which was announced in April 2006. I suppose the “2 years ago” could be in reference to the fact that two years ago from today she was gearing up to start on The View as moderator?
Watching the clip made me think a few things. The first, and most predominate, feeling is that I miss The View with Rosie; for her passion and excitement about issues and for her humor, both of which are evident in the clip. The second is that her statement near the end of the clip was huge foreshadowing when she said something to the effect of that the reason that she she does not have her own show is because she gets so animated about issues like the war and it angers people.
I am wondering what provoked her to link to that particular clip on today of all days? Could it be because of vice-presidential talk in the clip? Could it be because it is almost the two year anniversary of her start as moderator on The View? Maybe there is no significance in the timing and she just came across it on YouTube? What do you think is her reason for posting the link? To show that she has had the same feelings about the president/war for a long time? Is she going to be a guest on Hannity and Colmes? Is she just being nice by giving me something to write about? (Yes, that must be it!)

Very Interesting. My first reaction surprised me. I love Rosie but maybe she was a little bit too over bearing with her passion. It was nice that Elizabeth for the most part didn’t have sound bites to yell at everyone. Meredith seemed very uncomfortable. Most of all though I miss the discussions of current, important topics.

She may have posted this just to remind people of very important issues and how they have not changed as we make up our minds who to vote for. This is a good example of how The View should be - regardless of which side you are on. Good questions and conversations and people being made accountable for their beliefs instead of just repeating rhetoric.

i found myself mising meredith as much as rosie. Dana for a momment there I too went if I was consevative i would think rosie was a radical liberal and ranting/ raving but still her passion did bring out good converstation when conversatin could be had. elisabeth was calmer then

This appearance was from June 7, 2005, a little over a year before she became the official moderator. I distinctly remember this episode, and we all talked about it in depth on the AOL message board about it. I thought Rosie was excellent that day, and that was when I thought she would be great on the show on a regular basis. I have always liked Rosie, and was very happy when she became permanant on the show. She made the show fun and interesting, I don’t mind all the controversy she brought, Rosie is compassionate about her beliefs and the show was constantly talked about when she was on. I still miss her presence on the show, Whoopi just doesn’t seem into it, Rosie maybe cared too much, that’s why she butted heads with everyone. She is too big a personality to be part of a group of cohosts.
I am also thinking her posting this clip may have something to do with her comeback on TV. I would love to see her have a round table discussion format on whatever new show she comes out with.

She should get her own round table show, like Glenn Beck but with her own twist.

Thanks Winnie,
I had to watch the clip, even if it meant sitting here for 45min. (slow dial up). I really enjoyed it. I had not seen that show.
I too enjoyed the View with Rosie on. I can say that it was never boring when she was there. I agree with mibi, and I’m sure many others, her passion did bring out good conversation.
I’m not sure why Rosie posted this clip, but I can bet she has her good reasons. Maybe she has several reasons for doing so.

I never watched The View back then with Maredith, but I must admit it was nice seeing everyone work together. As mentioned above they all have different views, but issues can still be discussed in a respectful manner. I really hope this next season can be better, but I am not sure how that will go.

Dana, I second your observation.

Josh: Not sure I understand your comment. I know the clip has been on YouTube awhile. The story is that Rosie posted a link to it just yesterday.

I enjoyed seeing the clip…didn’t see it the first time. I agreed with Rosie but her passion gets in the way sometimes..she took over the show (look at my face..do a close-up)..felt my blood pressure rising due to the shouting. Hannity is a bush boob in my book. Even back then EH was in his pocket..though she was a bit shier then..had not come out of her shell. She is much louder and know it all now. I feel Rosie is getting ready for a new show and is showing this clip to show that she speaks her mind even tho it may get her in trouble sometimes. If she gets a new show I plan to watch with pleasure.

May Says:
” I feel Rosie is getting ready for a new show and is showing this clip to show that she speaks her mind even tho it may get her in trouble sometimes. ”
That’s a good theory. I hope that is the case.
Winnie, I did not get that post either.

Like you, I miss Rosie. I miss Meredith. I miss the tone of the show before all the changes occurred when EH joined. I loved Lisa Ling and thought the discussions were lively and interesting. I tried watching again this week at the lake and ended up turning off the tv.

Winnie, I’m wondering how you were able to see that Rosie had that link posted on her website. I know she’s not going on for awhile but I have her blog as my homepage and everytime I log on it automatically redirects to Rosie’s broadway kids website.

Viva,
at the redirect, look for a link located in the mid left side. It says “Looking for Rosie.com?”
Click it and it will take you to rosie.com.

Thank you Stacee

Viva: Although Stacee already helped you out (thanks!), I saw the post because I am subscribed to her blog in my feed reader. Also if you go to directly to her blog page and not to the main rosie.com page (http://rosie.com/blog/default.aspx) you won’t get redirected.
