Rosie O’Donnell Turns Down Oprah Interview: UPDATED
Rosie O’Donnell will not be promoting her new book Celebrity Detox on The Oprah Winfrey Show, even though Oprah extended an invitation. Rosie instead has granted an interview with Diane Sawyer who has interviewed Rosie in the past. (See update below. It appears Rosie will not be doing any interviews).
The book, which is due out in October, is currently 12th on the Amazon best-seller list based on pre-orders. The book talks about dealing with fame and celebrity, including Rosie’s time on The View.
UPDATE: On her blog, Rosie made a statement which reads, in part:

i decided no interviews
about celebrity detox
it is too rawmy no
has nothing 2 do with anything
but me
my need 2 find my place

The plot thickens….
On the home page of Rosie’s blog, she’s got an homage to Oprah. Rosie indicates she won’t be doing any interviews at all for the book; she is appreciative of Oprah’s request, but doesn’t mention Diane Sawyer.

Meanwhile, did anyone catch Babs calling in to Howard Stern’s radio show yesterday? All I could find was a recap of it written by a fan, on a site called Mark’s Friggin Howard Stern. No clue how accurate Mark’s “transcription” is. He says that Howard kept pressing Babs for tidbits about Rosie & that Babs said (in ref to Rosie’s book) that Rosie needs help. I don’t know where to find anything more concrete about this interview. My mind is reeling at the thought of it.

Are you certain she’ll be speaking with Diane Sawyer? By the sounds of Rosie’s blog entry, it sounds like she’s not doing any interviews. Just wondering if I missed Rosie confirming it?

I read somewhere else, yesterday, that she is doing an interniew with Diane Sawyer,..can’t remember where.

Diane Sawyer is Ro’s mother-in-law’s favorite celeb/journalist. Bet BW was pissed at that! ;-D

I just read Rosie’s blog and I don’t think she’s doing any interviews. I think right now the book may be too painful for her to discuss in public.
She will be appearing on the Martha Stewart Halloween show. She also said she’s been in talks with HBO.
