Rosie tells Elisabeth, “You are very young and you are very wrong.”
Rosie O’Donnell brought up the topic that the Bush administration and the Department of Defense are grossly understating the number of wounded American soldiers from the campaigns in both Iraq and Afghanistan. According to a special that aired on ABC, the Department of Defense put a gag order out and no one is allowed to talk to the media about the number of wounded. Rosie said that the administration is a “disgrace” and that President Bush should be attending the funerals of those soldiers that have been killed.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck admitted that she is not in the same place that she was three years ago, in terms of her support of the Bush administration and she now has a more discerning eye about what happens in the war. However, she disagreed with Rosie’s call for the next president to repeal the Patriot Act. Elisabeth said that if the government wants to listen in on her phone calls, that is fine with her, if it will make her more safe.
Rosie told Elisabeth that her lack of understanding of the issues surrounding the war and the Patriot Act was because she was young. Rosie told Elisabeth that when she was 45, she should call Rosie on the phone and tell her if she has changed her views. Elisabeth said that it is unfair to say that she cannot understand because she is young and that Rosie was being ageist.
Although the conversation had angry overtones, even Elisabeth was laughing when Rosie gave the following reason for why she tells herself that Elisabeth’s beliefs are what they are because she is young:
It is the way that I’m able to be on this live broadcast and love and support you in spite of the fact that I disagree so abhorrently with most of the things you believe, so it is what I tell myself in order to not get into a rage over some of the ignorant comments.
What appeared be lost in this whole conversation, were Joy Behar’s much harsher words about the Bush administration, calling them “liars and murderers.”

When will you get that disgraceful woman off the TV screen. She, Rosie, is such a no-it-all. Why do you allow her to constantly put down Elizabeth? Isn’t Elizabeth’s opinion just as valuable as Rosie’s? I think this group ought to limit their comments on politics…. We, as an audience, may be interested in their opinions on some things but to constantly be bombarded with their (Rosie & Joy’s) hate for the Bush administration is very tiresome. If George Bush walked on water Rosie and Joy would criticize the way he did it. PLEASE put a stop to it and PLEASE give Elizabeth her rightful spot in that group.

Elisabeth is like alot of die-hard Republicans-she admits that she is unhappy and disagrees with what Bush has done (and is doing) but refuses to stand up and say he is wrong and do something about it–what’s wrong Elisabeth? Afraid you won’t be asked back to speak at the Convention?

I just turned off the View this morning in the middle of the show. I cannot watch Rosie any more. I have had enough of Rosie. I am a 34 years old and I am offended by her comment to Elisabeth this morning about her age. Basically she told everyone in their thirtys and younger that their opinions are wrong and not valued because of our age. I often disagree with the views of Rosie’s and just because she is “older” doesn’t mean she is right. We all have different views and opinions but she does not know how to respect others while disagreeing. I am tired of watching her attack other people. She talks about peace but she is a hypocrite. When I watch her on the show all I see from her is rage and anger toward others who she disagrees with. I believe if you want a peaceful world then you must act peaceful yourself and attacking, degrading and belittling others is far from being a peaceful person. Elisabeth - I hope that you stand up to her for all of the younger people like me that you represent. Because our opinions do matter and are just as important!

I think Elisabeth is awesome for standing up for what she believes in. I don’t think I could do it because those other ladies can be so intimidating. I’m glad Rosie feels bad now. I love them both for their differences and think the show would be boring if they all agreed on the same thing.

Elisabeth is an idiot.
Bravo to Rosie for continuously calling Liz on her unfailing support of the worst thing to ever happen to this country.
Anyone defending tapping our phone calls, opening our mail, and constant surveillance needs to wake the hell up for what is in store for “the land of the free.” Every time she opens her mouth, she looks more and more like the naive idiot that she is. I used to be stupid like her. No more. I am so sick of the “If you haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t need to worry. It’s keeping us safe” defense.
29% people. 29% of Americans still support the asshole in the Oval Office. Anyone still defending him either needs to get a clue about what they’re defending or get a stronger backbone. In fact, get both. Liberals are finally being heard.
