Rosie O’Donnell to answer Celebrity Detox questions

by Winnie McCarthy

rosie-o-donnell-celebrity-detox-book-signing.jpg
Rosie O’Donnell added a new section to her blog where readers can ask her questions about her new book Celebrity Detox. The page indicates that answers are coming soon. If you click here and then go to the second “ask” box in the left column (below her regular “ask ro” box), you can ask her a question about the book.I got the book yesterday and am about 3/4 of the way through it.

I will post my review/thoughts on it when I finish. The book has brought up a lot of interesting things about The View that I want to share with all of you/pose questions to you about.

For those of you who do not have a copy of the book, you can read chapter one online here.

  1. rainlillie Says:

Here’s a review of the book. Is this accurate?

“hate-filled, slapped-together pastiche of old blog items, truly dreadful poetry, and snippets from a discarded earlier manuscript.”

    http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20151312,00.html

  2. Sandy Says:

winnie, Thank you for providing chapter 1.

  3. Stacee Says:

rainlillie, I personally would not describe the book the way that person did. I did not find it to be hate-filled. I did not think she showed a grudge against Kelly or EH. I did not really see ‘vitriolic’ passages relating to BarbW either.

Of course people will read and take away from it different things so please don’t make me an authority. However I just did not see the book the way that reviewer did.

Who knows, maybe that type of review will spur more sales. Maybe people will buy expecting that type of content.

  4. rainlillie Says:

The Faux News folks will continue to go after Rosie , because she came out against the war.
Funny how they never mention that she’s donating all of the proceeds from the book to charity.

  5. kc Says:

Well, here’s Neil Cavuto comparing Rosie with Greenspan of all people in how they “trash” people to sell books.

“Rosie O’Donnell book signing: HELPING AN 84 YR OLDWOMAN”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvU2C-lyn78

  7. Peaches Says:

Thank for the video, rainlillie. I also enjoyed the pics you posted elswhere from Rosie’s art exhibition.

Let’s see … will Fox show this video with the headline ROSIE RANTS AT 84-YEAR-OLD FAN
    ?

Or will they try to unearth something about this elderly woman’s past so they can discredit her….?

    Stay tuned.

  8. rainlillie Says:

“Or will they try to unearth something about this elderly woman’s past so they can discredit her?”

I think they’ll do both. They’ll say that the woman was a plant and that she really isn’t 84. No one is off limits to these people. Did you hear how they attacked the 12-year-old boy from the S-CHIP commercial?

They went to the parents jobs and talked to their neighbors. The icing on the cake is, they posted the family’s address online. What they’ve done to Rosie is pretty tame compared to that.
This is the same gang that kept Whoopi from working all those years.

  9. Brandon Wolner Says:

#8 rainlillie Says: “No one is off limits to these people. Did you hear how they attacked the 12-year-old boy from the S-CHIP commercial?
They went to the parents jobs and talked to their neighbors.”

A few facts that the democrats didn’t divulge about this family…
    1. 3,000 foot house
    2. Kids in private school
    3. 2 drivers with 3 vehicles including a new Volvo SUV, Ford F250 pickup & a Suburban SUV. (with 1/20/09 bumper stickers)
    4. A commercial property that they receive rental income on.
    5. 4 kids although neither parent holds a full-time job.

How many of you can boast this? How many of you have taken a second job to make ends meet, yet these parents can’t even get a full time job.

Not a very good example of people for the democrats to drag into the public eye. Couldn’t the democrats find any “real” families needing help?

  10. rainlillie Says:

In case anyone is interested in the truth about this 12 year old child and his family just read the article below. It’s really sad and disgusting that so called “human beings” would attack a child who spent 5 or six days in a coma. In any case read the article below for the truth.
    http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1670210,00.html

  11. Stacee Says:

    Thank you, rainlillie.

  12. Brandon Wolner Says:

Tragic. A family with a 3000 foot house, rental property and a new Volvo SUV needs assistance.

And poor black children go to bed hungry.

And despite what #10 rainlillie wrote, no one attacked a 12 year old, they attacked the democrats that paraded him around and his parents for not making better decisions.

  13. May Says:

Rainlillie, I hope you won’t spend anymore of your time trying to explain how Graeme went to private school on a scholarship and that his folks house was built in 1936 and how this family truly deserves help. The twit writing in to complain will never understand or have compassion for anyone who is not a bush lover or Fox news lover. Why waste anymore time on him when “The View” is the thing we care about here.

  14. rainlillie Says:

    May,
I agree. Thank you for your advice. I look forward to reading more of your posts about the View. I’m sure we’ll have a lot to talk about on Monday, Hilliary will be on. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. You’re welcome Stacee, enjoy your weekend too.

  15. Frank Columbo Says:

I found some interesting links about Liberals attacking a child that spoke out about social security much like the Graeme kid did for health insurance

  16. Peaches Says:

Jane Devin (janedevin.com) has another thoughtful piece on Rosie, this time after having read the book in one sitting. I recommend it and her earlier on-target piece about Rosie and all the vitriol toward her.

Come on, everyone, all together now:

    SCROLL BY THE TROLL
    SCROLL BY THE TROLL
    SCROLL BY THE TROLL

  17. rainlillie Says:

    “SCROLL BY THE TROLL
    SCROLL BY THE TROLL
    SCROLL BY THE TROLL”

    Peaches,

That was truly liberating. Darn that felt good!

  18. tallfreak Says:

Are you going to tell us what you think about the book Winnie? Would you recommend it?

  19. Peaches Says:

If you Google “the Troy Record” and “Marion Billingham” you’ll find a nice article about that sweet 84-year-old fan of Rosie’s from the book signing in NYC (see “Marion’s Movie” on Rosie’s blog).

Then, for the dark side of humanity, you can read on her blog in today’s Q&A section about the boors who tried to get in her face & ruin the good time she & her fans were having while at her Huntington, Long Island, book signing last night.

  20. rainlillie Says:

I have relatives In Troy. It’s a nice city. I didn’t know that was Marion’s hometown.

  21. Peaches Says:

I don’t know anything about Troy, NY, but if Marion is an example of who lives there, I love it sight unseen!

I didn’t realize it till now, but there is a video that Rosie shows on her blog that documents the boors who showed up at her book signing, who are apparently little minions sent from The Big Boor Himself, Bill O’Reilly. Pathetic how people like those guys actually think they are doing something worthwhile, and how they think they are really showing Rosie a thing or two. Imagine how far right wing and hateful these young men are going to be when they reach middle age. Rosie of course lets everyone see for themself what exactly went on during the exchange. Meanwhile, BOR’s Spin Zone will make it out like Rosie Ranted at his crew; another “Rosie is a monster” story.

  22. Stephanie Says:

Thanks Peaches, what a sweet story. And I’m gonna check out that video on Rosie’s site, I hope its not too nasty.

  23. rainlillie Says:

Rosie handled herself well. That guy was a total jerk!

  24. Peaches Says:

The Spin Begins…. From Rosie’s blog (Sun. night)— re: those two O’Reilly Trolls:

    Sue writes:
BO has his soundbite now, “on the next XXXX XXXXXX Rosie” then it shows you swatting at the camera, OMG no spin zone my butt

you were gracefull ro more than i would have been
    YOU ROCK
    peace!

    i never swatted it
but i looked that kid holding it
    in the eye

Too bad Fox watchers wlll never see Rosie talking so kindly to that young man with CP in the wheelchair after the Trolls left.

  25. rainlillie Says:

It figures that Bill would try to use Rosie to get his ratings up. I wish at one of his book- signings someone would ask him about his phone sex scandal. He’s just a big hypocrite! I can’t believe that Whoopi likes him…Makes you wonder about her value system.

  26. Peaches Says:

Oh, gosh, I hope Whoopi likes him IN SPITE OF his hatefulness. One minute I’ve heard her refer to him as a friend, and another, as someone she just “knows.” He is really off the deep end, like a demented child with his various vendettas. There was a time he was semi-credible, when he went after charities who were suspected of playing footloose with donations. But he is just so vindictive now, and divisive, I think he (to use his own words) “hurts America.” He probably has a hole in his Vendetta Calendar, until his “War on Christmas” by “Secular Progressives” warms up, so I guess following Rosie around is all he’s got for the moment. When will his fans wake up?

  27. rainlillie Says:

“He probably has a hole in his Vendetta Calendar, until his “War on Christmas” by “Secular Progressives” warms up.”

ROTFLMAO!I think he’s going to have a complete meltdown on the air any day now. I hope Joy will challenge him on his rhetoric when he appears o the View.

I’m not counting on Whoopi to do t. Rosie said on her blog that she and Joy were told that they couldn’t mention his sex scandal on the show.

  28. rainlillie Says:

Here’s more on Rosie and Bill’s sex scandal.

    http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/april2007/020407oreillymafia.htm

  29. rainlillie Says:

    Rosie said :
“When Joy and I alluded to O’Reilly’s sex scandal on The View,” writes O’Donnell on her blog, “we were told the following day that we couldn’t bring it up anymore or else Bill O’Reilly would “go after” all the hosts of The View.”

I would love to know who told them they couldn’t bring it up.

  30. Brandon Wolner Says:

Going to be an interesting show tonight.
Bill will play video of Rosie talking about 9/11 being an inside job and then the recent video of her denying she said it.

Maybe for a joke oreily will play her quote that fire doesn’t melt steel and then show a video of fire melting steel.

And when you talk about mean hateful people, did anyone see that picture of EH on the gay cruise. Talk about someone being bitter and carrying a grudge.

  31. Stacee Says:

Marion is adorable. I enjoyed watching that. I bet she had a blast, maybe even felt like a star.

rainlillie, thanks for the BO sex scandal link. lol

  32. Peaches Says:

FINALLY there’s an accurate article about what happened when BOR’s juvenile Trolls crashed Rosie’s book signing on Long Island —- and it’s in Murdoch’s NY Post of all places. Go figure.

I have bad luck posting links here, so I won’t try again. It’s in today’s (10/30) Page Six. A must-read!

Thanks for your link on BOR, Rainlillie. I’m glad Rosie doesn’t let him deter her from enjoying life and from all the good works she does. He is a pathetic, deluded fool, as are those people who watch him and actually believe his lies.

  33. Stacee Says:

Wow! I’m shocked they printed that!
    I’m impressed :)
Here is a link to the article:
    http://www.nypost.com/seven/10302007/gossip/pagesix/pagesix.htm

Rosie was wise to show the video of what happened at the signing. Good for her.

Peaches, thanks for the heads up! :)

  34. Peaches Says:

Wow, Stacee, you are quick! Thanks for posting the link. I have no clue why I can’t do it….

Let’s hope this is a sign that more and more people are seeing how bizarre BOR is.
