Rumor: Elisabeth Hasselbeck May Leave The View For Fox News

by

The National Enquirer is reporting their second Elisabeth Hasselbeck related story in as many weeks. You will recall that I posted previously that they reported that an “insider” at the show leaked that Barbara Walters had to tell Elisabeth to “calm down” or find a new line of work during the commercial break of the season opener.

Now, Celebitchy is reporting that National Enquirer has a story which states that Elisabeth Hasselbeck has been offered a job at Fox News Channel and is considering leaving The View for the new position.

The Enquirer article states that they have “learned exclusively that Fox News has offered Elisabeth, who’s an ardent Republican, an anchor spot - and the 31 year-old mother of two is seriously considering taking the job.” Elisabeth is reportedly “just as tired of the ladies at ‘The View’ as they are of her! She feels she constantly has to defend herself.”

The “insider” told the Enquirer that when Elisabeth “gets passionate about her opinions, the others make her look like she’s hysterical. But when she doesn’t talk enough, she’s accused of ‘pouting.’”

I do not doubt that Fox News has probably offered her a position (Sean Hannity did call her a “ratings magnet”), but I don’t know if she would take it. While now she gets attention as the conservative voice on The View, at Fox News she would be just one of many of the same type of thinkers. Also, I am unsure what the status of her contract with ABC is right now and I doubt they would just let her out of it to go to another channel.

What do you think? Will Elisabeth Hasselbeck leave The View for Fox News?

  1. Lajet Says:

RECAP: She feels she constantly has to defend herself.”

RESPONSE: That’s what happens when you are constantly wrong. (Note: I didn’t say ALWAYS - she used the adjective “constantly” not me.)

RECAP: “gets passionate about her opinions, the others make her look like she’s hysterical. But when she doesn’t talk enough, she’s accused of ‘pouting.’”

RESPONSE: LOL. I thought EH was for personal responsibility, not blaming others. But since when do we look to EH for consistency.

QUESTION: Just what is it that OTHERS do to make her LOOK hysterical.

  2. Dana Says:

EH’s problem is 1st herself and 2nd she’s trying to be more than she is. She’s trying to be a model/fashion designer/journalist/political analyist. She’s a daytime talk show host/reality show survivor. She wants to play with the likes of Barbara Walters but she doesn’t have the credentials. She is a pretty face with nothing to back it up.

  3. Kelly Says:

OH Pah-LEEZ SWEET JESUS - OH LORD! I don’t ask for much - GRANT ME THIS ONE WISH and I will toil in your name for all eternity and beyond. Dear LORD I love you. YES YES YES

Yippee ky ay! Yepa Yepa!! Andele Andele!!!!

Thanks to the ladies of WTV – not only did you put Obama in the lead – you got rid of TLB!!!! WE ROCK!

  4. Washington Says:

I say good riddance and have a nice life on shows I don’t watch.

  5. Linda Says:

I hope its true - she needs to go yesterday! Can;t stand her whiny judgmental voice.

  6. NOTIMPRESSED Says:

OMG..THERE GOES THE FOX STATION…CAN’T YOU
JUST SEE HER SPUTTERING AWAY AND LOOSING
    CONTROL…YIPES!!!!

  7. rainlillie Says:

She would be what I call a “blender” she’ll blend in , and their won’t be anything about her that stands out from the rest. She already has the Faux news anchor look down though, bleached hair, spray on tan and the tight revealing clothes.

“RESPONSE: That’s what happens when you are constantly wrong”

My son’s teacher said something similar like that about Bush, she said:
“one thing about him he doesn’t change his mind.”
    My son said:
“what difference does it make if he’s always wrong”…LOL!

  8. Sandy Woodward Says:

This is one of those be careful what you wish for things. Because if it is true — who is Barbara Walters courting ???

    Meghan McCain she is 24?
    Bristol Palin 17 and pregnant?
    Amy Holmes 35?
Jenna or Barbars Bush both 29?

FOX would definitely be a place where she could let her true self come shine through (scary thought).

  9. Sandy Woodward Says:

    rainlillie,

    How funny.

  10. susan brown Says:

This is excellent news and I hope it is true. I look forward to Barbara announcing next week (wishful thinking) that EH will leave the show on Octobr 1.

  11. Kelly Says:

If I were Winnie – and ran the show - this would be my line-up:

    Joy Behar – Democrat
    Maria Shriver – Democrat
    Lisa Bonet – Libertarian
    Joan Rivers – Republican
    Barbara Walters – Republican

And I’d really want to squeeze in Salma Hayek somehow – Viva Latinas!

  12. Mimi Says:

EH is the only voice of reason on this show anymore. Whoopi is a terrible moderator and the show is getting beyond boring. I used to TIVO it and watch most of it, but now it’s a one-sided snooze fest. Three comediennes, none of them intelligent enough to logically argue any point. They should have hired a journalist for the moderator spot. (Meredeth, we miss you) I hope Elisabeth does go to Fox, at least I’ll be able to hear her speak. These ladies all talk at the same time. And Whoopi is completely intolerant of any opinion that doesn’t match her own.

  13. Missy Says:

If this is indeed true, I am not surprised at all that she would then join Faux News. Not a surprise at all. I laughed out loud too when I read that the others made her look hysterical. She made HERSELF look hysterical! She spazzed out on more than one occasion. I said before she would end up at Faux News. She and her homie, Shamity, would make a…uh..good(?) team.

I hope all realize that if she is leaving The View, it is simply not because she is the only conservative on the show, or that she has not been respected for her views. I think it is her overrall performance. She is vile, rude, judgemental and very hypocritcal and since she made that comment about MO, she then showed her lack of professionalism and maturity. Her rudeness may be the bottom line for her departure from the show.

    Good riddance!

  14. Deborah Says:

Let her go already - she is far too one sided to have a View - she only has tunnel vision and refuses to listen to reason back up by facts.

Let her go. I am tired of her unprofessional and immature manner. It’s all about her and as a viewer I am so tired of that.

  15. GraceKelly Says:

Oh, per chance to dream. Have you noticed her clothing is even more subdued than the Babe clothes?

  16. ShannonP Says:

I hope it’s true. She belongs on Fox, that is where her type goes (talking point bobbleheads). It used to be you’d watch just to see where she’d be irrational and cause a skirmish, but even that has gotten old and predictable. Now nothing she says even matters, it’s just more of the same. I used to really dislike her, now I don’t even muster the energy to care. I just don’t care what she says at all, even if it is so far against what I believe in. For years she did nothing but promote Bush, no matter what he did she’d defend him and have a reason why what he did was right and he was the nations hero. Now it’s the same with McCain and Palin. That isn’t a discussion, or a resource for learning a different perspective and intelligent discussion, that is just a robot spitting out talking points.
I think with her gone, and if Barbara regains her common sense and self-respect for herself…they can turn the show into something worthy again maybe and not the joke it became. I think maybe the McCain interview and the response it got when they were serious and did their jobs, maybe gave her a taste of something that she wants and with Elisabeth it’s hard to come by because people just don’t like her and don’t take her seriously. I’d like to see Sherri and Elisabeth gone and replaced by grown, mature and intelligent women.

  17. May Says:

As I said on today’s show replies, TaTa EH and don’t let the doorknob hit you in the bu** on the way out! I wouldn’t be surprised if Barbara had given EH her walking papers and is giving her a way out by saying she’s going to another network, etc. She told Star that she could say anything as her excuse for leaving the show after her contract wasn’t renewed, remember? EH could still go to Faux but at the urging of Barbara, just so she leaves the View.

  18. NOTIMPRESSED Says:

    GOODBYE!!! LIZZY, LIZZY, LIZZY, LIZZY…
SHE’S WAY TOO IMMATURE TO WIND UP ON ANY
    NETWORK.

  19. Sandy Says:

    Thanks Winnie,
?, I have trouble believing the story,..but nothing surprises me anymore.

An anchor spot. That just doesn’t seem right to me either.

I don’t really care one way or the other, if she leaves or not.

  20. Vegas Says:

I don’t think Elisabeth would leave The View willingly. I think she adores the attention she gets from being the lone conservative, and if she went over to FOX, she would not be in the limelight anymore, she wouldn’t be truly happy not having anyone to argue with! She admits that she loves conflict, so being on Fox she would be among similar thinking people so what kind of fun would that be for her?
I think Elisabeth would love to be fired in a dramatic fashion ala Star Jones, go on all the talk shows and talk about how hard it was for her to be picked on all the time, only then would she take a job at FOX.

  21. Joyce W. Davis Says:

Actually, I can see her as an anchor on Faux. She’ll do the Sarah Palen thing with the talking points always ignoring facts. I wonder if she’s ever tivo’d herself. She’s real scary when she gets going. If I were she, I wouldn’t want my husband or children to see that side of me. I think that if she is gone, you’ll see more intelligent discussion of the issues. As it is, every time a remark that sounds as if it might diss any repub., sets her off into her mad dog look and speel. Hopefully, bye,bye EH. Dare to Dream!

  22. Vegas Says:

Joyce #21, Did you notice the face she made when Joy made that joke about how Sarah Palin is still learning too when Sherri said she needs to still learn more about politics? It looked like her eyeball would fall out of her head.

  23. susieq Says:

i will only believe this story to be true when and if comfirmed by abc…but if it is true only fox news would hire her…seriously what are her qualifications to work for a news organization? i feel sorry for real journalists trying to get a job nowadays

  24. Danielle Says:

If if is true, it’s because of what she did at that luncheon, Barbara probably was not very pleased. Who cares anyway. I hope they get rid of Sherri too, she is way too uneducated, and I’m being nice. I don’t think Whoppi cares if people disagree with her or not, so I don’t know why other posters are commenting on that…? Joy just tells it like it is, and people may not like that, but the truth hurts to those that are brainwashed and follow blindly.

  25. Joyce W. Davis Says:

Yes, I did, Vegas and don’t you just love Joy? She’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind or the truth for that matter. Everybody else seems to censor themselves for fear of setting EH off.

  26. susieq Says:

#24 i tend to agree with you about the luncheon…say what you will about barbara but she is a journalist and elisabeth “talking out of school” about what happened behind the scenes at the view is kinda like reporting something that is off the record

  27. Anne Says:

Barbara has lost her edge and credibility; she touts adultery & narcissism. Elizabeth’s integrity will be missed, for the show will become worthless smut.

  28. Kathi Says:

    I have one word, BYE!!!!!!!!

  29. Nia Says:

Oh, joy! I can’t wait! I haven’t been able to watch the View for a while now because that woman got on my very last nerve. She constantly interrupted others, which would have been merely rude and annoying if she did it to actually say something. But that woman doesn’t have an original thought in her empty little head and all she did was parrot the GOP talking points over and over.

I’ve been a fan of Joy Behar’s for many years and will be thrilled to go back to The View once Elisabimbo is gone, gone gone!

  30. Julianne Says:

Mimi - really? Go back and, just in the last week, she doesn’t/can’t back up what she says. Voice of reason????? Yikes!

I don’t know if this was mentioned - back at the beginning of the week (sorry, can’t remember exactly which day), just before the first break, as the camera was pulling away, you could see Babs giving Barbie the “slow down/back off” hand motion. The few moments during which I watched the rest of the week, EH actually let someone else get a word in edgewise (and I think that’s really all we’re asking here…..I digress…..). Did anyone else notice that?

  31. Julianne Says:

She should go to FOX. Someone has to support Tim and those……kids.

  32. joan Says:

Mimi #12 You are right on the money. Finally someone I can agree with.

  33. chris Says:

That would be great if elizabeth left the view. She’s sp hard to listen to. I hope if she does leave, they replace her with somebody smart! Not someone who thinks the world is flat. The need a young, well educated, liberal, fairminded firecracker. There aren’t ANY on TV. Also, the article says elizabeth is 31, if thats’ true, I’m shocked. She has that heavy makeup and haircoloring of a 40 something. It must be the show’s makeup department’s fault

  34. Monica Says:

Sorry….but I have never understood why Elizabeth and Sherrie are on the View. Whoopi and Joy are both thoughtful and delightful….a very nice mix along with Barbara.

Elizabeth is an attractive young woman…however I am amazed by her attitude and by some of things she says..most everything becomes immediately combative and made into a political or religious issue with her…There are times when issues are about honesty, ethics, personal integrity and compassion….not religion and politics.

  35. Pam from Jax Says:

How did I miss this news? Oh please let it be true. I’ll be good, I’ll wash my windows, I’ll go volunteer to register voters. Please, Lizzie, go. Away. Now. Is that clear enough? (leads all in a chant) Go. Now. Go. Now. Go. Now. Go. Now.

  36. FireElisabeth Says:

IF (and that is a big all capital “IF”) this is true (and I hope it is, but can’t get that excited right now), it seems like the time is right.

BW has really been ticked by EH lately and maybe she is feeling the heat. I just want EH off this show.

  37. Sara Says:

I hardly believe that elizabeth will the view because if she does there will not be any balance on the show.

Shes rude and she never lets people finish their statements, but it makes good tv.

The reason why people hate her so is because she is a republican and republicans in our country are not liked.

  38. Mimi Says:

Julianne, I honestly can’t even watch the show anymore, so I don’t know what she said last week, but I’m betting she’s not the only one that couldn’t back anything up. These people are talk show hosts and entertainers, and aren’t all that prepared to back anything up. It’s all about feelings and off-the-cuff remarks.
I just think that the mix is all wrong - well, it’s not even a mix. One conservative and 3 liberals and Barbara, who pretends to not take sides but is looking more liberal all the time. I know Bill is Republican, but the show is still quite unbalanced and difficult to watch.
I keep checking it out, though, hoping it will get better, but then I end up just fast-forwarding through the thing.
Rosie was interesting and the show was exciting when she was on, even though it was still unbalanced politically.

  39. May Says:

Another reason to dislike Faux news. Just caught a bit on Gregg Jarrett show where Liz Trotta was a guest and between the 2 of them they raised holy crud about the way McCain was treated by The View ladies. He called them people that can’t kill enough babies and other horrible stuff. Liz called them horrible names and excluded EH in her tirade. They tried to show the difference between how Obama was treated and how McCain was “pounced on”. Liz made fun of Whoopi,Joy and Barbara. I’ve watched Faux for the last time! Gregg even said that when Joy called McCain’s ad about Obama and the tots a lie that it was indeed true cause he read all about it. I do hope EH joins that group…then Faux would indeed be all right leaning (though indeed not the RIGHT group)GRR-rrr

  40. Maria Says:

We could only hope. I tune in once in a while only to see what Whoopie will say about something that has happened in the news.

  41. Amy Says:

Damn it! I saw on E News or whatever it is called, that it is inded just a rumor. The Hammity parrot is still with The View. Oh well….there are other programs I can tune into on my days off of other than that show.

  42. Jenny Says:

i dont understand why people cant respect EH’s view i just dont understand how you can hate someone so much just because she hasnt differnet views than you. Im not a rebublican and sometimes i dont agree with EH but that doesnt mean i need to come on a site and pay her out.

  43. Ella Says:

Jenny, No. 35, respect EH’s views? Since when has she given anyone with opposing views to hers the time of day….it’s all about her and always will be…..I was taught to respect others and treat people the way you would wish to be treated……EH is one-sided, cannot see past her own nose and behaves like a spoilt little brat when things don’t go her way……personally I don’t care if she stays or goes, I’m over her…….I now tune out when she speaks, she is insignificant…..a nobody.

  44. Heather in LA Says:

I wouldn’t mind hearing from a republican or a conservative once in awhile. What’s creepy about EH is that she’s an automaton and not an individual thinker. It is possible for her to support someone AND disagree with them occasionally. What REALLY drives me crazy is all the time she spent defending Bush and now her MAIN defense of McCain is that he is not Bush! She comes off as an idiot. And to call the critique of Palin sexist… It would be sexist NOT to be critical and question her credentials just because she is a woman. Of course she loves her - they are 2 peas in a pretty, empty pod…

  45. NOTIMPRESSED Says:

#44..you are s-o-o right about “Nanouk of
the North” and “Lose-a-bet” H. being two
peas in a pod…Both brashy, loud mouths
who really turn off the average listener.

And Sherri needs to dump that Failin Palin
    hairdo…OMG, I couldn’t belive her comment
that those glasses and hairdo she was wearing
were suppose to make her smarter and more
    able to understand politics. Dumb-de-dum-dum!

  46. MiamiVision Says:

wanna bet that EH was behind Sheri’s Palin-hairdo? I thought immediately when Sheri came out she was trying to emulate Palin’s look…and why? But she denied it - someone said she was emulating Star Jones’ hairdo. I don’t buy it. It was a Palin do and I’ll take bets it was EH’s idea from the getgo.

one can TRY to *look smart* but this behavior doesn’t usually work, eh? at least not for long!

  47. MiamiVision Says:

forgot to add…..with the Palin-Sheri hairdo, the right side of the table at The View looks even more empty-headed.

  48. Pam from Jax Says:

Sherri did say she intended it to be like Audrey Hepburn.

  49. toobadsosad Says:

I think Elizabeth doesn’t play fair when she debates. She uses childish tactics and doesn’t argue the issues. She tries to prey on peoples emotions and tosses disparaging comments around hoping that nobody has done their research and can dispute her comments as what they really are; PROPOGANDA. I don’t think she has an intelligent voice on the panel, but that is because she is arguing talking points and she is not even trying to address the subjects thrown out there.

Sometimes I do feel badly for her, because it is not at all balanced on the panel, but then she opens her mouth and spews John Mccain rhettoric. She comes off as deffensive and babyish…

  50. Dee Says:

If EH does end up on Faux, she will end up looking and acting like a female version of Steve Doocy:)

I do think she was counseled about her RNC faux pas and I do think Babs nerves are getting frayed having to deal with her outbursts. I am not convinced her contract is in jeopardy, but a hefty raise in a new contract might be and that is why we see a new and improved Bits this past week.

  51. Sara Says:

I am not at all surprised…with the Fox news accusations of delivering racist, biased, and frivolous news there is no doubt in my mind that Elisabeth will fit in perfectly..go for it gal!!

  52. Sophia Leto (a.k.a. Moody Mommy) Says:

Good riddance! No one on The View remotely represents my opinions, especially Elizabeth “I represent formula and I think breastfeeding is gross” Hasselbeck. Fox is the absolute PERFECT place for her.

  53. Tracie Says:

EH is closed minded when its not what she wants, and will not let anyone else speak their view… when it is not the same as hers, I think the name of the show is the view… not the EH show I say.. SEE YA.. NOT I DONT WATCH FOX!! WILL BE NICE TO FINALLY GET TO HEAR JOY AND OTHERS SPEAK WITH OUT HAVING TO EXPLAIN THINGS TO THAT NIT WIT!! SHE SAYS PEOPLE ARE AGAINST PALIN BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMEN BUT WILL NOT ADMIT THERE ARE STILL RACIST VOTERS. SHE WAS AT THE RNC SHE DID NOT NOTICE THE LACK OF AFRICAN AMERICANS THERE? I GUESS NOT BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER!!

  54. entertainmenttodayandbeyond Says:

I have said for the last year that she would wind up of FOX. She drinks the same Kool aid as those on that station. She is Divisive and unlikeable.

  55. Mrs1209 Says:

If she wants to leave, then let her go. I personally enjoyed the diversity on the show; however, if she feel that intimidated by the truth, then so be it. I believe that if you feel that strongly about what you truly believe in, then no amount of controversy will make you back down. That being said, if she believes in her candidate then she should stick it out. If she can’t sit back a take the truth about McCain/Palin/Bush campaign and policies, then good day to her. She needs to stop being a bratt and grow up. Be a real woman and stick around and fight it out. She was probably just looking for a good excuse to leave the show in the first place.

  56. Marcie Pearl Says:

EH acts like a spoiled child. Hope she goes!

  57. Sandra DeMaris Says:

It seems to me that she and Sherrie are the only ones that aren’t racist. Everytime they get into politics, I put the tv on mute. My brother’s best friend was black, and he was a wonderful guy. I didn’t know racism until this show. Very disappointed in Whoppi, and Joy could learn a lot by listening. I have been the most disappointed in Whoppi…

  58. Gloria Says:

Elizabeth not racist!!??? Just about everything she spouts off about has racist overtones and some folks are only kidding themselves.
Whoopi holds her tongue more so than Elizabeth who seems to go on a rampage whenever Barack or Michelle Obamas’ name is mentioned and she’s not a racist? She might not know it but I’ve been around racist for quite a few years and they are very good at hiding it and some folks are in denial about it, brother having a black friend don’t mean you can judge who is racist and who isn’t.
Frequently used words “My best friend was black”.
