Sherri Shepherd Cleans Star for Barbara Walters

by

Ahead of her appearance as co-host of the Daytime Emmy Awards, Sherri Shepherd posed for some publicity photos, including the ones below that show her “cleaning” Barbara Walters’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and wearing an Audition handbag.

  1. Dee Says:

This is a tasteless promo for poor SS. Cleaning the diva’s star on her hands and knees is not the image a lot of us want to see. If this was supposed to be humorous they should have had Bits doing it too.

Is this BG’s idea I wonder?

  2. rainlillie Says:

This wrong on so many levels.

  3. rainlillie Says:

“Cleaning the diva’s star on her hands and knees is not the image a lot of us want to see.”

I agree, what were they going for here?

  4. Stacee Says:

I’m sure this was all in fun with no malicious intent, but I too found little humor in the Barbara star cleaning.
It reeks of desperation, butt kissing and subservence.

    And whadyaknow…that darn book again.

  5. Vegas Says:

See how dumb Sherri is? She thinks she is being cute carrying around that annoying book as a purse, and then getting on her hands and knees and scrubbing Barbaras star on the walk of fame. She thinks shes being funny but she is making a fool of herself,I can only imagine what Whoopi will think when she sees these pics. Dum Dum Sherri. Doesn’t even have the sense to use this big opportunity of hosting an awards ceremony and making it all her own, so she uses her time to shine to give Barbaras book yet, another plug, and on top of that, demean herself by acting as if she has to scrub floors and kiss ass to be where she is. @@

  6. Sandy Woodward Says:

    Why…..

    Geez

  7. Sandy Says:

I didn’t exactly like seeing Sherri on her hands and knees scrubbing a star (doesn’t matter who’s).
But I do not for 1 second feel it makes her look like a fool, or dumb, or like she has to kiss ass to get where she is.
I don’t think Sherri is the type of person to make anything all about herself.

  8. Stephanie Says:

Did Barbara’s book not do as well as everyone claimed? Why does it STILL need to be promoted. I agree with Sandy, I wouldnt want to see Sherri scrubbing anyone’s star, I can understand some people thinking it was all just in fun but knowing BW the way I do now, I dont like it at all. I think Sherri looks very nice though and I like that she’s always smiling.

  9. rainlillie Says:

It is pretty shameless the way BW’s book is being promoted.

“It reeks of desperation, butt kissing and subservence.”

    I agree.

“so she uses her time to shine to give Barbaras book yet, another plug, and on top of that, demean herself by acting as if she has to scrub floors and kiss ass to be where she is. ”

I don’t think Sherri thought to do this on her own. Sometimes I find her endearing, irritating, naive and silly. I think she’s authentic and enthusiastic about being on a popular show. All of the hosts have received a lot more exposure and opportunities, because of the View. I agree with Stacee, there was no “malicious intent.”

  10. Kelly Says:

Watching the Emmy’s - so far so good. Erica Kane was reading Audition in her jail cell - Bill Geddie was caught picking his nose - Sherri told a confused Barabra Walters that she was the “black girl” on her show…and Tyra beat out Dr. Phil. I suspect Ellen will win for HOST and The View may actually win for SHOW…ohhh Ellen just won for HOST!!! You would not believe the clip they showed of EH - to nearly no applause.

  11. Kelly Says:

The 11-year losing streak is ON! Rachel Ray takes home the Emmy for Best Talk Show (Entertainment) beating out The View.

  12. Stephanie Says:

Lmao @ that little recap kelly. Im SO happy for rachel ray, yay!!! Congrats to Ellen and Rachel Ray, too bad about the view… oh well ellen and rachel deserved it :)

  13. Stephanie Says:

Oh btw, they shouldnt have used that clip for the view, the audience seemed taken aback or something, it was completely silent after that clip. Its just funny that EH got the last word before that, lol.

  14. Kelly Says:

She always has to get the last word LOL….

  15. Tina Says:

    #7-You Go Girl!

  16. lisa Says:

The View sucks……..get it OFF !!

  17. Louise Says:

I was really hoping they would win this time.

  18. Viva Says:

What clip did they use for the view? If there’s a link on youtube or another site can someone post it please?
Immature I know but I am happy to hear the show didn’t win again. I didn’t want them to have one more thing to make jabs at Rosie.

  19. Kelly Says:

I though there were signs they might win – with Sherri hosting inexplicably, the Rosie/Hasselbeck slap down, and the opening scene filled with View co-hosts. And then they added a new category for talk shows (entertainment versus informational). Guess which category The View was in?

THE CLIP: Whoopi (on The View) opening with a new study showing that the ideal amount of time for sex is 3-13 minutes. EH cuts in (OF COURSE) and says, “That’s just about right for my schedule!” –cause you know, how over-scheduled, in-demand, short supplied the world is with self-loving, unremarkable, hate-pushing ignoramuses. But the thing that happened next was really telling: No one laughed, or clapped. They just looked around at each other with those rolling eyes. CRINGE.

I’ve come to appreciate EH’s role as foil and realize that a little drama makes for good TV. I say keep The View and Slap the Fool.

I think they would win if the academy would add one more category breakdown for daytime talk shows…Best Rage-Provoking Inconsistent Hannity- Lovin Bras to Baghdad Talk Show.

  20. Sandy Says:

I watched the Emmy’s. I thought Sherri did just fine.

I was hoping The View would win one as well. I do like Ellen and Rachel too, though.

Rosie was also included as a Host of the View, so it would have been nice for her too had they won.

  21. rainlillie Says:

Does anyone here really think the View deserved to win? I sure don’t.

  22. Kelly Says:

Sorry – this is my last post (for real) but I do have to give Sherri props. She was a natural. No Nervous Nellie there. She was warm and affable, full of energy. Congratulations – job well done.

  23. Stephanie Says:

Yeah, I thought Sherri did well. I didnt enjoy the show as much as last year but thats not b/c of her. I couldnt really decide if I wanted the View to win or not. On the one hand it would have been nice for Rosie to have gotten another emmy because I really think she deserved it for her role on the show. But then I dont think this current group deserved to beat Ellen as best host so I was conflicted. It was nice to see her name mentioned and see a pic of her at the awards show though.

  24. Dee Says:

I watched a little of the show and I liked the job Sherri did as hosting. I remember Billy Bush years ago at another awards show and thought he was too much, Sherri otoh was just right. I missed the pics of BW and BG but did catch the categories and was amazed at The View segment that was chosen, the audience reaction was stunning.

Great job Sherri, I still want you on a sitcom!

  25. Vegas Says:

Sherri was so predicatable. I knew she was going to refer to every woman as ‘GURLLL’ and I knew she was going to be shrill and scream talk. The first dress she came out in I couldn’t believe how thin she looked. Good look for her, because her breasts weren’t sticking out like a shelf in it like she usually likes to wear.

Cameron didn’t seem to ‘host’ as much as Sherri did, and that bit they did where he bent her over and kissed her was cute, but then Sherri overdid it, (and you can tell she did it spur of the moment, as she grabbed Camerons face and tried to suck his tonsils into her mouth. OMG). Way over the top I thought. Cameron was caught off guard.

I also didn’t like how Sherri was sitting in Ellens lap in the audience and practically licking her face like a puppy dog.

Was anyone surprised The View lost again? I wasn’t. I actually thought Regis and Kelly would win the first category but Ellen won yet again. She wins because she doesn’t offend anyone, she’s funny and her show is lighthearted. The View is way too controversial and as Joy says ‘There is always someone you’re gonna hate’.

I loved Regis’ acceptance speech for his Lifetime Achievement award. He is such a lovable guy, interesting story he told about how he practically made himself famous in the old days by hanging around studios and trying to get noticed. I thought Kelly should have been there, why wasn’t she there? And Joy Philbin: normally I always think she is so stunning and especially for her age, but last night she looked downright haggard. She always looks so pretty when she guest cohosts with Regis, I was surprised.

    Tyra Banks; acceptance speech:

Is she nuts? Here I was admiring her as she first got on stage, she is so stunning and I loved how she thanked her mama. She was so cute bawling in the audience. Then Tyra went on that strange tirade which I thought made her look even more unstable then when she first told people to kiss her big ass on her show. I couldn’t believe she submitted that clip to show. LOL

Anyway, when she screamed kiss my big fat juicy, etc ass, I was shocked. I can’t believe she didn’t get bleeped because for a second there I thought she was going to curse. The looks on the peoples faces in the audience was priceless. What a way to accept an award!

Anyway, I thought the show was good, fast paced, which is good because I don’t watch soap operas and don’t care who wins those catagories, but let me just say that those actors are some gorgeous people!

Anyone watch the Soap Net preshow?

    It was horrible!!!

Rebecca Budig, Finola Hughes Ricky Paula Goldin and some weird guy who said he does fashion segments on Regis and Kelly were the hosts. I thought Rebecca was fine but the rest of them were horrible! The ridiculous comments and questions they asked! The stupid ’shoe cam’ they kept forcing everyone to put their foot on. There was one actress who just had bunion surgery and was wearing flats and she didnt want to put her foot on the cam and they kept forcing her. They were like ‘OOOHHHH! Nine West flats.’ @@

Anyone else agree these preshow hosts were terrible? There was just no humor, no decent questions, and they kept messing up!

  26. MiamiVision Says:

win for what, Louise? The categories were OUTSTANDING talk show host and/or Entertainment show. What is outstanding about The View? Tell us….after 11 years, what is “outstanding” about the view? Very curious.

  27. Vegas Says:

    #18 Viva:
They couldn’t have made jabs at Rosie if they won an Emmy this year because Rosie was included in the ballot along with Whoopi.

  28. msroncon Says:

Tyra made herself look like a fool.

[...] awards. Barbara said that she was funny and looked divine. She also commented on Sherri’s Audition handbag. Whoopi said that she got a voicemail on her hotel phone that Barbara will be signing her [...]

  30. Tina Says:

When Sherri first started on The View, I really enjoyed her but the past couple of months I slowly have lost interest in The View, I think a big part of it had to do with Barbara’s constant plugging of her boring book, the whole week they spent on The View kissing Barbara’s butt promoting this book.

Someone mentioned above that Sherri doing those photos doesn’t mean she is kissing ass. I on the other hand find it extremely painful to watch a likeable celebrity doing this for someone who is her boss.

Why in the world would Sherri be carrying a Audition book as a purse and then take photos of herself cleaning Barbara’s star on her hands and knees??

Sherri earned a co host spot because of herself but she came on the emmy’s constantly plugging Barbara’s book, plugging The View and it was quite annoying to see such public outburts of butt kissing when you have a opportunity to just be yourself as an individual.

I just hope when she gets another opportunity to host something that she keeps her “I Love Whoopi” shirt at home and be more of the Sherri Shepherd I enjoy watching.

  31. Dwana Says:

A COMPLETE sell out. As a sister I’m embarrassed for her. I can see her now, “Yes em, Mizz Barbara.” Sell out…damn.

  32. Renee Gerideau Says:

why isn’t Sheri cleaning her own star. despite she’s on a towell and has a glove on. but clean it w/a toothbrush. I guess she’s making so much money, more than she ever that she’s not clearly thinking about her image and what message it sends. She’ll look back at this and say that was a dumb picture and it didn’t get me any where.
