Sherri Shepherd Reacts to SNL Impersonation, Reveals Custody Issues

by

On her Twitter account today, Sherri Shepherd gave her less than enthusiastic review of Tracy Morgan’s impersonation of her in The View skit on last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live. She also revealed that the reason she had not been on Twitter recently was that she was in court dealing with custody issues. Her tweets, as well as the video clip of the skit on SNL are below.

Okay… just watched Tracy Morgan do me on SNL… not very flattering, but hey - I was immortalized on Saturday friggin’ Night Live!

If SNL writers would watch the View, they could go past surfacy. My boobs.. my lust for men..Dancing with Stars..Christian stuff - come on

Been gone for awhile… had child custody court stuff to take care of. It’s hard when you have to listen to attorneys say you’re a bad mom

Sherri also revealed that she is currently casting for her Lifetime pilot, writing:

Something a little happier… I’m casting for the “Sherri Shepherd” pilot, which shoots 4/9 in L.A. Always a dream - my own sitcom. Wow!

What did you all think of the impersonation of Sherri, as well as the other hosts?

    Winnie, you beat me to it. I was just about to link Sherri’s Twittering here.
    She twittered (or is it tweeted)some things last week while the show was actually on. Some of it kinda unflattering. I have a feeling her bosses might tell her to quit commenting on the show.

    How can she be offended with how SNL is portraying her. They are only using her own actions. I guess a lack of self-awareness is something Sherri and Elisabeth have in common.

    And I thought her custody issues were over. If her ex is still fighting her then maybe she should stop telling some of the Jeffrey stories she tells. She does not come off well in those.

  2. mibi Says:

    so I think they played SS a little too dumb. though tracy had her smile and mannerism down.

    I like there whoopi and BW. EH is pretty good. When has joy ever said ” so what who cares.” ? But it is funny.

    the writing could be better. susq, diane, bern, pepper your my vote for view writers

    I hope things work out wiht her show and custody issues.

  3. mibi Says:

    they should have added a few boob jokes and hey would have had SS down.

    xoxo

  4. Mary Evans Says:

    I didn’t think this SNL skit was very funny. They had EH down pretty well, but not SS. Granted, she is not too bright, but they should have brought in the boobs, lust, Christian stuff.

    Sounds like it is just the custody battle left? On Bonnie Hunt SS said “I was just divorced.” But then I never really believe what she says. It’s sad she was called out on being a bad mother. She did bring in on herself and perpetuated it. That is when I think WG turned on her. As a comic she probably exaggerates she really needs to learn that can backfire.

    I didn’t get if she had wished Tracy had protrayed the boobs, lust and Christian stuff over the ignorance (to be kind) because other than DWTS I didn’t see any of that in the skit.

    Unfortunately, these ladies do not command respect. Nor care what people say, just that they say something.

    It seemed kind of sad, to me, that Tracy didn’t insist on more to the skit then just SS’s stupidity. OTOH, he may have felt that was as far as he would go with his “wife” and neighbor.

  5. Fran Says:

    Sure gotta agree with “Whoopi” that her dwarf name should be ‘Weirdy’ since she’s gotten weirder as she’s gotten older. THAT was a spot-on observation!

  6. susieq Says:

    Thank you Mibi. I do have to say the humor all of us come up with on a daily basis here is a lot better than the humor the View tries to sells us. And three of them are professionals!!!

    And Sherri needs to change her persona on the View if she doesn’t want to be portrayed that way. And regarding the custody issue, didn’t her ex cheat on her and impregnate another woman when Jeffrey was still in the NICU? Him or his lawyer is calling Sherri a bad mother!!?? What would their definition of bad FATHER be?

    Mibi, does you xoxo mean you’re a Gossip Girl fan?

  7. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Gosh, thanks Mibi! Hey, if we do the writing, I nominate you to direct!

    ~~~~~
    Winnie, thanks for the update & the SNL link. I was dying to see it.
    Agreed - the SNL skit could have been a bit funnier - but all in all - satire is satire for a reason: it speaks TRUTH.
    SNL writers knew that The View LA Disney week was so bad it just had to be skewered.
    The SNL skit used STEM CELL RESEARCH as a HOT TOPIC in their skit - because THE VIEW never even touched on that relevant timely HOT TOPIC.
  8. misslingdow Says:
    Triple loved the SNL skit. Loved the babbling Bawa. Loved Whoppi and the weirdy should have, could have been harder on Bits but I give it 2 thumbs up!
  9. mibi Says:
    your welcome guys I mean gals.
    directing sounds fun I’m sure i’ll be better than who ever talks in there ear now. I can fact check.
    Susq
    I missed most of last season of gossip girl but do like it but no the xoxo is to be nice to balance my snark.
  10. Pepperbird Says:
    Thanks Mibi.
    And you are right on, Diane from NJ: “SNL writers knew that The View LA Disney week was so bad it just had to be skewered.”
    The opening shot of the Disney set made that point without a doubt.
  11. Pepperbird Says:
    #5 Fran: Yeah, and “Dopey” would fit WG too, for more than one reason.
  12. Roger from Ohio Says:
    Sherri tweeted — If SNL writers would watch the View, they could go past surfacy. My boobs.. my lust for men..Dancing with Stars..Christian stuff - come on
    my response: Come on?? I watch you on The View every day Sherri….. and other than “My boobs.. my lust for men..Dancing with Stars..Christian stuff” you are pretty silent on the show.
    Sometimes when Elisabeth gets a little extra over the top, you will show a little outrage, and you will say something about it… those are VERY rare. So if you want to be seen as more than “Your boobs.. your lust for men..Dancing with Stars..Christian stuff” then you will have to make some changes.
  13. Mary Evans Says:
    ITA Roger.
    That and the Jeffrey freaks out stories. She just told one on Bonnie Hunt this week. Her handlers are not doing her any favors.
    I also wish she would pick up the pace on current events, hot topics. But I do realize she has a lot going on with her divorce, movies, 30 Rock.
    Which brings me back to the panelists not preparing because this is (truly) their part-time job.
  14. Stacee Says:
    I thought the portrayal of Sherri was funny. She does seem clueless at times.
    The person that plays Bits is spot on with the voice inflection. Who is that? Is that a cast member? She’s pretty good.
    I do think the skit could have picked up it’s pace just a bit. It seemed to drag.
  15. southernexplosion Says:
    Sherri tweeted — If SNL writers would watch the View, they could go past surfacy. My boobs.. my lust for men..Dancing with Stars..Christian stuff - come on
    What kind of Christian real christian would take her serious they would just laugh her right out of a church, Do Sherry realize lusting for men is a sin in the christian eye and in the bible also god eyes so why would you want someone to portray you like that if you a christian women, Like Sherry be for real.
  16. Kelly Says:
    The SNL skit was missing the key VIEW ingredient: Mindless Crosstalk.
  17. Elsie Says:
    “My boobs.. my lust for men..Dancing with Stars..Christian stuff” left out making almost everything about race, even when not relevant. **glad she’s back on the blogosphere,since her last blog was shut down. Why are the letters on Twitter so darn small? I have to go Edit, Print Preview to read. It seem that the above quote was directed at this site and not at SNL. IMO, anyways.
