Star Jones Admits Wedding Talk Was Too Much

Star Jones Reynolds, who is on a publicity campaign for her new television show on Court TV, recently acknowledged that she alienated The View audience with her frequent discussion of her lavish wedding. Her unending discussion of the details of her wedding, along with her unwillingness to disclose that she had lost her weight as a result of gastric bypass surgery, caused viewers to turn away from her, and the show. That is reportedly why the show did not renew her contract. She did not admit to the surgery until last month.

This is what she said recently on the topic:

I had lost the immediate connection that I had with my audience.

Yes, I enjoyed planning the wedding of my dreams, marrying the man of my dreams. But I take responsibility 100 percent for enjoying celebrity a bit too much. I screwed up. … It’s intoxicating. I sucked it into my lungs and let it get into my bloodstream.

Her new show, Star Jones, will premiere Monday on Court TV.

I can’t believe I am saying this but I think I will give her new show a look-see. Maybe she has changed and will not be so ‘diva-ish’ which is what turned me off about her.

I’m going to give her another chance. I find her openess - while possibly just a stunt to retreive viewers- to be refreshing. At least she is acknowledging what led some of us away. That’s a start, I think.

Stacee: I think I might give it chance too. I am curious if her new attitude is genuine or just for show.

  4. Elsie Says:

Yes, talk she did. And we tuned in. Come now, girlfriend wanted to hear about it. “If she could do it, can I?” It was the higher-ups who wanted her out. Remember Joy playing Exec Producer when Star called in to talk about her “boob job”. Joy was mad! Why?! No one else seemed to mind. Guess what Star will keep talking. Sure she’s changed. Now she’ll do it in a more demure way. But, it is still about STAR in Star’s world.
