The View April 14th Recap: Tracy Morgan and Robin Quivers
Today on The View, Barbara Walters was not there. Joy Behar worked at the Borgata casino in Atlantic City and lost $400, which is unusual for her because she usually walks away a winner. Sherri Shepherd went to a dance club this weekend and hung out with comedian Katt Williams. He had an entourage of 20 people and they rode in a stretch limo. While Sherri was thinking about the latest issue about Barack Obama, the girls in the entourage will excited that the limo lit up. She said that she felt like her clothing and her dancing was showing her age while at the club. Whoopi said that maybe she should go to a more age-appropriate club. Joy joked that Sherri should come with her to the assisted living club.
Whoopi has become addicted to the Jem shopping network and spent her whole weekend watching and buying gems.
Barack Obama was attacked by Hillary Clinton for being elitist because of what he said about people in small-time Pennsylvania. Elisabeth said that people don’t like the generalization of everyone in that area and it isn’t true. Joy said that he couldn’t focus on one town because he was trying to make a point. Elisabeth said that there may be some truth to the situation to individuals, but the generalization is the problem, also adding that she doesn’t think people are clinging to guns. Sherri said that he didn’t mean it as a bad thing, pointing out that he himself clings to religion. Elisabeth said that he said that they are clinging to negative things like guns. Whoopi said that is not what he said. He said that people are clinging to religion, guns, or anti-immigrant sentiment because they need someone to blame. Joy said that it is no different than the way that Lou Dobbs talks about illegal immigrants as “they.” She added that Barack was raised by a single mom and just finished paying off his student loans, while Hillary Clinton is worth over $100 million.
Hillary Clinton drank this weekend and talked about duck hunting while campaigning. Whoopi said that it shouldn’t surprise people that candidates change their actions in order to pander to the group they are trying to woo. Sherri thought it was funny that the Hillary/Bosnia sniper ire situation died down and then Bill Clinton brought it up again. Elisabeth said that he is sabotaging her campaign. Sherri said that she should have him read the book of Esther. Joy said that if she was so pro-gun, she would have shot her husband a long time ago.
Joy likes Hillary, but doesn’t like how she is harming the Democratic party by accusing Barack of things like being an elitist. She said that Bush and his people are the elitists and they gave tax breaks to the rich. Whoopi said that she is sick of hearing about tax breaks to the rich. Joy said, “That is because you are rich.” Whoopi said that she has done good things with her money and should get her $600 too. Elisabeth said that if Barack or Hillary get elected, then Whoopi will be taxed just for looking at her. Joy got angry and said that the recession is because of the Bush administration. Joy said that McCain will be no different because agrees with Bush on 95% of things. Elisabeth said that is not true and anyone who thinks that is not reading.
Whoopi said it is because McCain has associated himself with Bush that people believe they have the same ideas. Elisabeth asked if then Barack is like Rev. Wright because they associate with other another? Joy said that we are talking about policy here and the only difference policy-wise between the two is that McCain is pro-environment. She said that she asked McCain off-camera how he could turn against women by being against Roe v. Wade. Elisabeth asked how that was turning against women. Joy shouted “It is against women and you know it!” Then they went to commercial. Joy was very angry throughout the segment, more so than I have seen in her recently. (Video here).
Whoopi said that the candidates seem afraid to say what they believe because they don’t want to say the wrong thing, pointing out how McCain didn’t admit on the show he was wrong in not voting for the MLK holiday. Elisabeth said that Obama has not been clear about things with Rev Wright. She was “with” Obama from the beginning and was curious about him, but doesn’t like the rhetoric that he keeps repeating about his relationship with Wright. Joy said that it is not relevant and what is important is what the person is going to do when in office, like overturning Roe. v. Wade. Whoopi said that Colin Powell has said that none of the candidates are right in their plans for withdrawal because they can’t get out right away and can’t stay forever.
Tracy Morgan appeared on the show to promote 30 Rock. Sherri has guest starred on the show as his husband. Tracy is not really into politics, but said if Obama wins, he will go to the after party. He said he would like a job as security if he is elected. He thinks that it will take a 1000 years to turn around the country and not just one term. He said “Power to the people.” He joked that his three sons what Hillary to win because they want to see a wardrobe malfunction.
He spent the strike hiatus having sex and playing cards. He likes to make babies like Bob Marley. He has three sons, the youngest being 16. He doesn’t have the pressure of being funny with them. He has 5000 pairs of sneakers. He said he loves sneakers because he is Black and might have to run from the cops.
Tracy also recently appeared in Superhero Movie. He played Professor Xavier.
Tracy said that he is against McCain because he wants to bring back the draft. The hosts told him that he said he won’t bring back the draft. Tracy said that was good because if they came knocking at his door, he would tell his 16 year old son to tell them that he sees green people. Joy said that he could get out of it by just saying he was gay. He said he shouldn’t say that because that will stay with him.
Sherri asked about his dating life. He said that he is pregnant, rubbed his belly, and said he would be on Oprah soon. Joy asked who he was having sex with during hiatus. Tracy said, “I don’t kiss and tell.”
Robin Quivers from the Howard Stern Show appeared on the show. She lost 60 pounds by becoming a vegan. She eats vegetables and hemp for protein. Whoopi asked whether a younger man helps with the weight loss and she said, “The last 10 pounds.” Joy said that she doesn’t need to ask her if she gets a lot of exercise after seeing a photo of Robin’s younger boyfriend, Jim Florentine. They started dating when Howard told Jim on the air during the show that Robin hadn’t dated anyone since she broke up with her boyfriend and Jim then asked her out.
Elisabeth said that she ran into Howard Stern the other day and they had a nice talk about parenting. She asked how Robin responds to people who say that Howard Stern objectifies women and Robin supports it by being there beside him. Robin said that she is there, but not doing anything crazy. The women come on the show of their own free will and our sexual beings. She joked that it wound inhibit the women’s growth if they did not allow them to come on the show.
She said that arguments on the show have gotten heated in the past between her and Howard and both have walked off the show before. She first met Howard because they were hired by the same radio station and were put together. Robin has an upcoming benefit for an organization called Healing Bridges, which benefits African women and children. There is also a charity auction in conjunction with the benefit at Charity Folks.

Elisabeth is so closed minded that watching the show is exausting. I wish I has a dollar for her insessent need to object when anyone says anything positive about Barack Obama, or rudely interrupt when God forbid someone says anything negative about Republicans. It’s so sad that its actually kind of funny - have they done a skit yet about this on SNL? If they haven’t they should.
April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Lots of irritation on this show..mostly on Joy’s part. EH just doesn’t get that McCain is a clone of bush. She wanted to rant on and on till Whoopi sorta sat on her so she (Whoopi)could finish saying her piece. EH likes to interrupt whenever possible. At least Bawa wasn’t there to put her index finger in the air to quell everyone’s talk. We’ll probably see more of this as the election draws near. Wish Rosie was there to add her two cents.

I have a question. This is going to sound flip, but it is not. I just cannot seem to find anyone who can explain it.
How can ANYONE, regardless of which candidate you support, regardless of what you think of our current President, think that things are “going well” or “aren’t that bad.”
I don’t get it. I’m not a Bush supporter, so I think it might be my problem, BUT I can’t find ANYONE who can answer this. If he has a 20% approval rating there must be SOMEONE who can explain this to me. I really just want to understand and the only thing I can come up with is that 20% of Americans have their head up their a**.
Please explain - I really want to be able to follow this line of thinking.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:44 am
maybe what they support is him overall maybe they are looking at his other things he has done that they like. maybe they are only reading certian things and not others you never know. one of my friends is a very strong christian and that keep her supporting him because he christian
April 14th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Wow things got quite heated there all of a sudden! I liked the fact that there was more emotion to the hot topics, BW was probably mad if she was watching at home.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
“I really just want to understand and the only thing I can come up with is that 20% of Americans have their head up their a**.
Hon, you just answered your own question.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
I didn’t see the show, but wish I had, as Stephanie said, I like the show when there is more emotion.
I was going to reply to # 4 Emily, the same as Lisa did.
From the recap I found things that I could agree with stated by each of the hosts.
My personal feeling is that senator Obama honestly did not mean his comment to come across as it did.
However politics being as they are, the opponents are going to use it.

Sandy,
I’m starting to like you more and more.
“My personal feeling is that senator Obama honestly did not mean his comment to come across as it did.
However politics being as they are, the opponents are going to use it.”
Yep, every word is going to looked at and picked apart. Meantime real issues aren’t being discussed.
April 14th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
I was really hoping there was another answer, but, alas………..
April 14th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I think the reason things get so heated is because EH won’t let anyone finish a sentance without interrupting. I know she’s trying to make her points, too, but the rest of the panel is quiet while she is talking. If fact, they are almost too quiet. It’s like they have been required to let EH speak whenever she wants. EH doesn’t just interrupt during politcal discussions, she interrupts movie stars and musicians while she is interviewing them. I want to hear what they have to say, not what she has to say.
April 14th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Thank goodness there are many others that are truly very tired of E.H. Everyone has some good traits - but as far as E.H. is concerned, if they ain’t republican, they are evil! She has so much anger and hate, yes, that’s how it comes over, that she is ruining the hot topics for everyone viewing it. It would be a pleasure to have someone on the show that is republican, that has viewpoints other than the other hosts, but a person that is in control of themselves and has a mature, non-pouting attitude. I’ve watched the view since it started many years ago, but E.H. is truly spoiling it for me and some of my friends. With so many other programs (talk shows) on the air, it may be a pleasure to switch just because of E.H. Sorry, Whoopi (what a smart, lovely lady you are), Joy (a true comedian, sharp, smart), Sheri (you have some to learn, but you are a breath of fresh air). Of course, Barbara, when it comes time to renew contracts, you may rethink renewing E.H. Hire an intelligent republican that can win over viewers - not alienate them.
April 14th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
# 10 Lisa,
Thank you.
Although I’m sure there will be times when we disagree. I usually do not base what I think and feel along party lines. Just simply what I feel.
April 14th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
I wrote in the other post that Robin looked fantastic. The before and after is very impressive.
And I thought Joy was fantastic.
April 14th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
I agree that RQ looks great! I looked up her boyfriend and found out he’s 13 years younger than her. He’s also the voice of Special Ed on Crank Yankers: “I GOT MAIL, I GOT MAIL…….YAAAAAY!” He cracks me up.
kl Says:
“Elisabeth is so closed minded that watching the show……………… it’s actually kind of funny - have they done a skit yet about this on SNL? If they haven’t they should.” ITA! I know SNL has spoofed BW many times, but I would love to see them do EH; I think Amy Pohler should play her.
April 14th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
I like you too Stacee
April 14th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Oh! I forgot to add:
While I appreciate Whoopi’s attempt to read Obama’s statement in full context, I really wish she has at least practiced it beforehand. I thought she really butchered it.
If she was unable to clearly see the words on the teleprompter, they should have typed it on one of the blue cards as backup.
Since she had such trouble reading it, I thought they should have had someone else do so. It was awful, hard to follow with her constant stumbling and in some ways ineffective, IMO.
And Sherri switching places with Whoopi during the guest interviews was odd. I can’t figure why they did that. I wonder if the plan is to now have Sherri moderate the interview portions??
It will be interesting to see where they sit tomorrow.
April 14th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Lisa:
Right back at ya!
April 14th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
How do you like the way Whoopie pointed out that EH was flrting with Tracy Morgan. Whoopie even commented saying “You too, have Jungle Fever?! Whoopie wasn’t too pleased with EH.
April 15th, 2008 at 7:25 am
My heart goes out to Elisabeth because I truly feel she’s misunderstood. She’s just so passionate about these issues & if that comes across to some in a negative way so be it! I think they should have one day a week that they discuss politics, unless something dramatic happens. It is all too repetitive because the majority of the time, we know what they’re going to say. I also think they they should consider hiring another Conservative and another moderate Liberal. Joy is very far left and Barbara doesn’t say much but it’s so very obvious she’s a feminist liberal. It’s just so unfair to have 3 older Liberals against Elisabeth who’s younger and the only Conservative. The show is very unbalanced. There are so many other interesting “HOT TOPICS” to talk about besides the same old thing day in and day out.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
“My heart goes out to Elisabeth ”
My heart goes out to the Viewers who have to sit through her rude and childish rants. The truth is always conveyed by the majority. Exhibit A. Bush’s latest poll numbers.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
I know that I’ve said this before, but..I think Elisabeth is very brave, and I give her a lot of credit. (all of the View host) I could not be on a national television program and express my views for the whole word to scrutinise, and find fault with.
I don’t always agree with her, and she does have her faults, but I do like Elisabeth. As I like all of the View hosts.
I feel as Sherri stated, one should be able to endorse the candidate of their choice, without someone else condemning them. The same for expressing their views.
Of course many here say that it is her personality they don’t like, rather than her political views. I accept what they say, everyone doesn’t always like the same people.
April 15th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
It is such a shame that postings made by Abadage under her Jen and Latina Mama names have been deleted. I wish everyone could see the mean, crazy things she has posted here for several months. I wish everyone could have seen the especially bad ones as Latina Mama of a few weeks ago, where she would taunt Winnie every time Winnie would delete a post; there were postings cropping up constantly one day/night, making fun of Winnie and calling her names because she had decided to ban Jen/Abidage/Latina Mama from the blog. When she wrote under Jen, I’ve seen many lengthy, RUDE, taunts toward other posters, calling one of them fat, making fun of another one of them for geting a divorce. And it was all because she didn’t like their left-of-center views. She has brought on herself any negative responses. Playing the pity partying victim game isn’t going to wash with me and anyone else who has seen all of her postings.
April 15th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Yeah, the majority isnt always right. The majority of the US supported the Iraq invasion- and of course they were wrong. And the ones who chose to speak out, well we all know what they were labeled as.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
I must admit I’m truly fascinated by statements that say TLB is “brave”. No, she isn’t brave, the brave people are the people who spoke out about the wrong doing by their government. They didn’t care if they were called:
Anti-American
Anti-Troop.
Terrorists lovers etc.
To me Rosie was brave. The beating she took in the media was totally disgusting. TLB is a conformists and will always be. She lacks originality and credibility. People with her point of view have had a monopoly on the media. It’s only been within the past few years that other points of view are being heard.
I don’t feel that she isn’t getting a chance to state her case as to why McCain is what America needs right now. All she has to do is look over her talking points from years of defending the criminal in the White House.
TLB isn’t a victim. I wish her fans would stop acting as if she is. I’d love to see her walk in Rosie’s shoes for a week and have the media and a whole network of jackasses rip her apart.
Funny, how her fans have some much compassion for her, but haven’t said one damn word about the vile things that Faux news and all the other right wing parrots said about Rosie.
Brave, would have been if TLB stood up and said enough! Rosie and I may not agree, but she certainly doesn’t think our troops are terrorists. It was more beneficial for her to keep that myth out there. No, she’s isn’t brave at all.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
GiveMeaBreak!
I’m feeling you.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
PRIOR POST: Brave, would have been if TLB stood up and said enough! Rosie and I may not agree, but she certainly doesn’t think our troops are terrorists. It was more beneficial for her to keep that myth out there. No, she’s isn’t brave at all.
Amen.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
“I think we can all agree that it takes guts to do what they do. Both of their views are unpopular in our society, so more credit to them!”
Actually, I don’t agree. I think it took guts for Rosie to speak out. When most everyone else was silent. I fail to see how TLB has displayed courage, in any way, shape or form.
She just went along with the program…Just like she’s doing now in trying to get McCain elected. I have absolutely no respect for her and I don’t find anything about her admirable.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
I don’t consider Elisabeth a victim. She chooses her path.
I very much like Rosie as well. Maybe more so than Elisabeth in some aspects. I also consider her to be VERY brave.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
I find it hard to believe that “Abidage” would have any positive thoughts about Rosie since I read her anti-gay comments (that promptly got deleted) on another blog. She posted under Abidage and has shown her true colors.
April 15th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
PRIOR POST: Maybe more so than Elisabeth in some aspects. I also consider her to be VERY brave.
Being brave would be expressing an original thought that might be disapproved of by her family. Being brave would be expressing a thought that would be frowned upon by those that invite her to speak at Republican party functions. The fact that some (as in “a lot”) people will react negatively to something you do or say doesn’t make you brave for doing it anyway. What matters is how much she caters to those who she cares about. I don’t think she much cares about what you or I or the general public thinks, so saying things we don’t like isn’t particularly brave.
I doubt Elizabeth is risking anything but the disgust of those she doesn’t care about when expressing opinions on The View.
April 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
I too saw Abidgag/Jen/Latina Mama’s homophobic ranting on the other blog that Erika mentioned.
April 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
The show is called “The View” supposedly allowing its audience a well-balanced opinion from every member of the panel, a personal view from each and ever one of them! I’ve always been very fond of Elisabeth because she has so many thoughts and opinions and she’s not afraid to say exactly what she’s thinking. Even during the hot button issues, she manages to remain level-headed and not give in or compromise her beliefs. We’ve all had moments where we’ve said some things we wish we could rephrase but were caught up in the heat of the moment and Elisabeth is no different. I respect and appreciate her point of view on numerous issues. I think she’s doing beautifully on the show and I hope she continues to grow as a person, staying true to herself.
April 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Yes, well, your past and present behavior, Abigag/Jen/LatinaMama, and your past and present posts speak for themselves, loud and clear. Disturbingly, insultingly loud and clear.
That is all I will say on this, or to you.
April 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Abidage, The best thing you can do regarding the Jen references here is to ignore them or otherwise don’t let them get your goat. You know who you are….I wouldn’t fret over such things…..
April 15th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
You’re certainly welcome. I’ll just say Jen wasn’t a very unwelcomed poster here. It’s great you can laugh about it all…”lurking around” ..LOL!
April 15th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
EH is very unprofessional with her interviewing skills. she is rude and very one-sided when it comes to republicans and demo. i was so hoping that she did not come back after the birth of her child. barack hit the nail on the head when he said elizabeth if we put 5 of the dumbest things you ever said to a 30 sec soundbite and played it over and over again what would people think of you. the truth would hurt and when he said it, it did hurt. bw fire eh. the show went so smoothly without her.
April 16th, 2008 at 6:44 am
# 40 Lajet,
PRIOR POST: Maybe more so than Elisabeth in some aspects. I also consider her to be VERY brave.
Maybe you misunderstood Lajet, in this sentence I was referring to Rosie. I do believe that Rosie has done the things that you said would make one a brave person.
Maybe brave isn’t quite the word to express both Elisabeth & Rosie, to some.
However to me, my “personal opinion” is it is brave to be on a national television show and express your view, when it is not a popular one. I could not do it, thus I consider them brave.
April 16th, 2008 at 7:14 am
Abidage,
I echo Louise’s sentiments concerning the Jen issue. # 45.
Actually I think you have the right to know the story since you are being referred to as Jen by some comments. If you would read comment # 27, it will give you an idea of “Jen”. She was very unpopular here, and VERY rightly so. She was rude and very disrespectful to commenters and to Winnie.
Jen held some of your same views regarding Elisabeth and a few other things, although she expressed them in a much different manner. In my opinion anyway. Thus I think is why some may think you are Jen.(because of “some” of the same views)
Also after being banned, she did return using another name, Latina mom, and yet again became abusive.
I believe that some are a little leery that you could be Jen, and even fear that. I can understand why they might be.
My own personal opinion is that you deserve the respect I would give to any other commenter until you prove otherwise.
I just want to add that I think that Winnie manages her blog “excellently”, and I have respect for her and her decisions. Whatever they may be.
April 16th, 2008 at 7:59 am
Well said Sandy, as always. I’d like to correct my previous post when I stated, “I’ll just say Jen wasn’t a very unwelcomed poster here.”—She WAS a very UNWELCOMED poster here. But I think you all knew what I was trying to say. LOL!
April 16th, 2008 at 8:12 am
Jen is a hateful, shrilly nutcase. Like a bad penny, she always turns up.
I also recall when she/he came back under a new name, some posters did not believe it was Jen. It turned out that it was.
And yes she/he was very rude and nasty towards Winnie.
April 16th, 2008 at 9:53 am
#50, Sandy: “I just want to add that I think that Winnie manages her blog “excellently”, and I have respect for her and her decisions. Whatever they may be.”
Yes, I agree that Winnie does do a great job with her fantastic blog (thank you, Winnie!). But she’s got her hands tied to an extent because the blog is part of 451 Press. They have policies and regulations and procedures that you & I wouldn’t know about. So we don’t really know the whole picture for decisions and actions she takes or doesn’t take about abusive posters. I don’t feel I can draw conclusions as to why it a repeat-offender, under a new name, is being allowed to post again. My sympathy goes to Winnie for having to deal with the situation.
April 16th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
#50:
“she expressed them in a much different manner. ”
you are so blind
April 16th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
“Jen sounds like a nasty person, and I assure you that is far from my personality. ”
By “my personality,” which one are you referring to? You use so many when you write your comments, you’re giving us whiplash. Perhaps you should have used the name “Eve” or “Sybil” instead of “Abidage.” Oh well, there’s always next time.
April 16th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
# 50 anonymous,
I know that you can not know this, but
I am fairly visually impaired,(20/200) so your comment is kind of hurtful.
However I know that you did not mean it in that way.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
This thread tickled me. In its own way, every post was entertaining. Thanks for the laughs.
April 17th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
I think Elizabeth should have more of an open mind. She backed our president even thought he has done nothing for America she should admit when she is wrong and let others have a chance to speak and lesson to what they are saying and don’t judge people so quickly.
April 23rd, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Oh my gosh! I too am addicted to the Gem Shopping Network! In fact I have it on right now. They really do have the most amazing gemstones and jewelry…
