  1. Vegas Says:

    Just an FYI…the title of Toris new book is Mommywood, not Mommyhood.

  2. Sunny Says:

    On bitsy’s Twitter page she says she was hit by a bicycle on Tuesday walking around NY City. She says “belly is OK”…WTF…if someone is pregnant wouldn’t you say “the baby is ok”. It is always about her…pretty sick.

    PS Winnie: have I missed something, what is the something you cannot talk about? Got me curious now ….!!!!

  3. Kelly Says:

    Happy First Birthday Little Winnie Nephew - how sweet.

    They’ll probably discuss Britain Idol surprise Susan Boyle - clink for video.

    Can’t watch today - GOPmom is coming to visit and she can’t stomach The View. Hehe – I guess The View is an equal opportunity infuriator. ♥

  4. Vegas Says:

    #2 Sunny..
    She said Belly ok? @@
    It IS always about her. On Mondays show, when asked how her vacay was she just said they went away and then right away went to talking about how SHE didn’t like how she looked in her swimsuits because of her pregnancy.
    Instead of telling a cute story about how their vacation was, she just goes right into talking about her and pregnant body. Who GAF.

  5. Vegas Says:

    I don’t know why I added that ‘ok’ after the first sentence of my post. Ignore that. LOL

  6. heatherspeaks Says:

    happy birthday to your nephew, winnie.
    hope everthing is going well for you.
    i’m sure we’ll hear about the bicycle incident on air.
    glad to know her baby is ok.
    as for her belly, well, no comment.

  7. Vegas Says:

    Maybe Joy can ask Elisabeth after she tells everyone that her BELLY is ok..
    “Nevermind how your belly is, how is the baby inside?’

  8. berndoubt Says:

    Happy Birthday, Little Winston!

    If we didn’t already know that Elisabeth was a self-centered moron, we’d know now. Really? Hope “my belly” is o.k.????? She’s probably worried that she’ll have a scar that someone will mistake for a stretch mark! What an idiot!

  9. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Happy Birthday ‘Lil Winnie Nephew !
    Your Auntie Win. is nice and she’s a great writer and has a great sense of humor - hope you inherited some of those qualities.

    ~~~~~~~~~
    Kelly - Wiping away tears from watching video of Susan Boyle, 47 years old. WOW - It is never too late, is it? Do you remember Paul Pots from that show about 2 years ago? Check out my link - clink my pink name. He was the tenor from South Wales, who blew the British audience away with Pavoratti’s signature song” Nessun Dorma” . Lump in throat when you listen. 43 million views on You Tube. And all he wanted was to win, to get a singing career started late in life, and to fix his teeth.
  10. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Changing the subject. For something completely different (Monty Python phrase)…
    DEAR VIEW: Re : HOT TOPICS - could you please discuss the Minnesota race for Senate and the fact that AL FRANKEN HAS BEEN DECLARED THE WINNER !!!!!
    I want to discuss. Much to say on this topic.
  11. berndoubt Says:
    #10, can you start with the hypocrisy of the Republican party…please…oh, please, oh please? I love hearing that one!
    And now for something else completely different (flove Monty Python)! Is it true that the neighborhood that George Bush lives in had a charter until 2000 that only allowed white people in unless they were servants? I’m going to look into this and get back to you!
  12. Pepperbird Says:
    Whoopi tax rant again.
  13. Roger from Ohio Says:
    Oh lord!!
    Whoopi still doesnt know what taxes are for. maybe she should learn instead of bitchin
  14. Pepperbird Says:
    Whoopi shut up about AI. So many more hot topics you could talk about.
  15. Pepperbird Says:
    Yay Joy for not sucking up to Barbara and saying “I have tears in my eyes too” about the Idol contestant.
  16. Hallie Says:
    Today’s tea parties are not exactly the grass roots movement EH, parroting Hannity, claims:
    During his appearance on last night’s (4/14/09) Hannity, Dick Armey disingenuously told Sean Hannity that he was going to the Atlanta Tax Day Tea Party because he “was invited” by people he didn’t know who were “not paid political operatives.” In fact, Armey heads FreedomWorks, one of three organizations that have been helping coordinate a national tea party effort and which has admitted being “one of the main driving forces” behind the protests. As Think Progress reports, FreedomWorks has a history of orchestrating “grass roots” movements that help Armey’s corporate clients. Hannity not only failed to challenge Armey’s bogus stance, he did his part to perpetuate the “grass roots” myth by playing a tea party promo supposedly prepared by an unknown viewer.
  17. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Hallie - Wow. Good investigative reporting. Good on you.
  18. berndoubt Says:
    The moron is hit by a bike while she’s pregnant and she TEXTS her husband and then tweets. She’s dumber than I thought.
    Sherri asked about the baby and Joy said to tip bike messengers because they do such a good job getting things to people quickly.
    Grassroots, Elisabeth? You might understand unbleached roots, but you sure don’t know what grassroots are. You got your talking points for the day, though. Do they deliver those by bike messenger?
    Whoopi! STFU about taxes!
  19. berndoubt Says:
    The chef who made the cake for Sherri obviously doesn’t watch the show or doesn’t care if she’s diabetic.
  20. Pepperbird Says:
    Joy is gorgeous today, and more elegant than Barbara.
  21. Pepperbird Says:
    #19 berndoubt good point. The chef got a boatload of free advertisement too.
  22. berndoubt Says:
    So, if a child has their parents trot them out to make money for them and revive their failing country singer career and someone else makes an obviously satrirical joke about the squeaky clean image of said child who posed nearly nude in one picture and suggestively with said failed country singer father then the bad person in this is the comedian who made a joke? The children are off limits, unless their parents want to pimp them out in every mouse-sponsored event from now until they are no longer cute and bankable! Give me a break! Could it be that the talk show is owned by the mouse and they’ll defend everything the corporate conglomerate mouse tells them to defend?????
  23. Roger from Ohio Says:
    our little town is having a teabag party *shudder*
    The dems are having an anti-teabag party across the street. I think I might go down to see if anyone showed up
    anyone have a cute slogan?
    I was thinking about chanting…. Open Wide
  24. Pepperbird Says:
    I’m sitting here seriously wondering if that whole bike accident story is true. Seems like EH would have had some bruises to complain about? Instead, she received a lot of attention and got to rub her belly on the show.
  25. berndoubt Says:
    Wow. Did you know that Barbara had problems with her daughter when she was young? Please, Barbara, tell us more!
  26. Roger from Ohio Says:
    #22 berndoubt–
    Could it be that the talk show is owned by the mouse and they’ll defend everything the corporate conglomerate mouse tells them to defend?????
    Thats exactly what it is….. Jamie Fox didnt do anything wrong….. this 16 yr old is acting like an adult….. then when treated like an adult they complain
  27. Hallie Says:
    I don’t deserve your kind words, Diane from NJ. I should have put quotes around the second paragraph. It came from a site whose motto is similar to this site (we watch fox so you want have to).
  28. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Bern #22 - The truth perfectly framed.
  29. Hallie Says:
    oops. change “want” to don’t
  30. berndoubt Says:
    Tori, life is too short to spend it with people who are not good for you…regardless of blood relation…trust me on this…but stop going on talk shows to hash this out…protect yourself…protect your kids…don’t take advice from these morons!
  31. berndoubt Says:
    Tori Spelling is the smart reasonable one on the couch. Sad.
  32. Roger from Ohio Says:
    #30 berndoubt–
    but stop going on talk shows to hash this out
    I agree with you Bern except for one thing….. I dont think she came on the show to talk about her mom….. but this group of “classy ladies” felt that they deserved to know.
    Personally, I dont really have much use for Tori, but I was impressed when she didnt take the bait. She said, she wanted a relationship with her mother, but she wasnt going to give a public national TV message to get it.
    Good for her.
  33. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Although we really do ot know what the ‘beef’ is between Candy Spellng and Tori - I will admit that I have a stick up my butt against Candy for that ridiculous Brentwood, California Mansion - just recently put on the market for sale at $150 million - the most expensive home in US for sale. Really.
    What does that say about her character? A gift wrapping room ? A doll collection room ? Another timely example of greed - and conspicuous consumption.
    And all Tori received from her dad’s estate was $800K. I actually like Tori - and that Dean McDermott is a cutie - pitootie. I wish them well.
  34. southernexplosion Says:
    10.s it true that the neighborhood that George Bush lives in had a charter until 2000 that only allowed white people in unless they were servants? I’m going to look into this and get back to you!
    My mother was talking about that before he move in that it only a white community.
    22.And yes if miss Cyrus want to act like and adult don’t be surprise if someone call you out on it. This girl have a 20 year old boyfriend and people walking around like oh that cute or that OK yeah right then you have your dad pimp you out. Naked photos already leaked about her so people better not start to say he was wrong and say she going out with a 20 year old is ok that backward is it.
  35. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Wow, Bobby Flay lost some weight. No more ‘chubby’ face like he appears on Iron Chef.
  36. berndoubt Says:
    As if to prove my point, Sherri is dressed like Fantasia.
  37. heatherspeaks Says:
    i’m going to take a wild stab in the dark and play armchair psychologist.
    i believe candy was jealous of her late husband’s love for his daughter.
    she was daddy’s little girl and some women/mothers are unable to accept that their husband’s relationships with their children due to some sort of self-esteem issues they may have.
    it is very similar to what my grandmother has told me regarding her mother and their relationship.
    apparently, my great-grandmother was very upset that her husband absolutely adored his little girl and would’ve given her the moon and stars if it was possible.
    she treated her horribly whenever possible and throughout her adult life.
    unfortunately, you can’t choose what family you’re born into but, you sure as heck can choose who you choose to call family.
    well, i’m done with my 2 cents for the day.
  38. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Roger, if you do go down to your ‘village green’ for the anti- Tea Bag rally, Id be curious to hear feedback. Did you see that HuufPo was looking for citizen reporters on the events, especially if you have video footage.
    Curious as to size and type of crowds that are showing up at these things.
    As for what to chant - hmmm - well don’t get naughty on them - be polite. Make us Crazy A$$ Libs proud.
  39. Pepperbird Says:
    #33 Diane Yes from what I’ve read in the media, money started the whole problem–Tori feeling hurt that she did not get a fair share.
    Good point about Candy’s mindless conspicuous consumption. After she’s dead and gone, Candy’s home will stand as a monument to her empty materialism, like some of those palaces in Europe. But at least the palaces sometimes have beautiful priceless art preserved in their architecture or murals.
  40. Sarah Says:
    I realize that Tori was kind of asking for it by being so public about her estrangement from her Mother, but was it really necessary for the hosts of The View to harp on that subject throughout the whole segment. I personally found it monotonous to watch, not to mention, can they really afford to be making the guests that actually will come on their show so uncomfortable. As it is they can’t even get A-list people on the show, and they only rarely even get B-list people (which is what I consider Tori). If they keep this up they’re going to quickly get to the point where they can’t even get C-list people.
    And now, notes from the shallow end of the pool: Why does Sherri wear a variation on the same dress every single day? And she always seems to wear the style of dress that is the least flattering to her figure. And why does Elisabeth wear something almost every day that looks like it would have made a lovely tablecloth/doily back in 1993. I swear in the early 90’s I had a giant doily on my bedside table that looked remarkably similar to what Elisabeth was wearing today. In my defense, I was a child and everyone had bad taste in the early 90’s. What’s Bitsy’s excuse?
  41. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Re: Candy and Tori Spelling. I’ll take your 2 cents worth Heatherspeaks. Lets all revisit the discussion next week after Candy Spelling’s appearance on The View. You just know they are going to replay today’s Tori appearance footage for Candy and drill her on the spot for her opinion.If I were a fly on the wall, I’d be curious if Candy has those two grandchildren in her will to receive a fare share of her estate?
    Who gets all the gift wrap? The dolls?
  42. Sarah Says:
    “On Mondays show, when asked how her vacay was she just said they went away and then right away went to talking about how SHE didn’t like how she looked in her swimsuits because of her pregnancy.
    Instead of telling a cute story about how their vacation was, she just goes right into talking about her and pregnant body.”
    What I found the most startling about that was that her daughter had a birthday while they were on break (on April 6th - and by the way, I loathe myself for actually knowing the exact date). Didn’t they have a birthday party for her? Couldn’t she have shown a picture of the party or told some story about what happened at the party or something?
  43. Mary Evans Says:
    #42 - really, or even if the kids had fun with the easter bunny.
    Love to hear how the Tea Party went Roger.
  44. Sarah Says:
    “I was thinking about chanting…. Open Wide”
    Thank you for the morning laugh Roger. Unfortunately, I think the humor of that comment would be completely lost on the Republicans there.
    I realize the Republican party is made up mostly of old people, but they must have someone in their party who has access to the internet or has been to a college dorm. Couldn’t one of those people pull them aside and explain to them what that expression means?
  45. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Thanks Pep. And good points Sarah.
    Pretty soon they will exhaust even G-List people - and when they get to H- List, well I AM NOT GOING ON THE SHOW, DAMMIT.
  46. heatherspeaks Says:
    #41 diane from N.J.
    ok. i’m actually interested in her side of the story.
    if babs is there, she won’t pass up the opportunity to bring up private matters.
    i could think up a use for the gift wrap but, it may not be bio-degradable.
  47. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Hey Roger - here’s what you can chant - go the other way - Lead their chants:
    “Lets Burn The Books”
    “Take Your Kids Out of College. Education Sucks.”
    “Michelle Bachmann is a Genius”
    “…And Shes Reasonable too”
    “I Don’t Care If My Aging GrandMa Who Worked Hard All Her Life Gets Social Security - let her live on the streets if she didn’t invest Money Smartly in Stocks and Bonds Under Ronald Reagan and Didn’t Benefit From Trickle Down Economics.
    Oh sorry, too long on that last One?
    ” I Love Rock and Roll”
    Sorry. Couldn’t resist.
  48. Hallie Says:
    #42 & #43 - Don’t you think EH is intentionally leaving her children out of the conversations in an attempt to protect them? Kathie Lee paid a price for talking about her kids so much. Plus on other sites when pics of Timberley or whatshisname are shown, the comments are often brutal. I’m thinking someone may have advised her it’s better in the long run not to mention your children because the feedback can be hurtful.
  49. Pepperbird Says:
    #45 Diane LOL!
    #40 Yes those weird 60’s patterns on Sherri’s clothes give me a dizzy headache.
    #42 Sarah, good point about EH oddly ignoring the kid’s b’day. Maybe she is still getting her pics developed, and we are going to be treated ad nauseum to a “hot topic” about the party. Dubya isn’t too busy these days…maybe she invited him. :)
  50. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Where’s Susie Q ?????
  51. MiamiVision Says:
    heatherspeaks #37 - you sure hit that one home for me (a Grand Slam Homerun actually), and I will take your 2 cents anytime!! My mother was exactly as you described in your very good *take* on that situation between Candy and Tori. And I have chosen my *family* throughout the life the way you said it. *S* (I actually became my OWN hero at 18 and never looked back!) Wasted the first 40 years and made sure I wasn’t going to waste the next 40 (though I’m not there yet, I’m far from 80 LOL)
  52. marilyn Says:
    # 48 - Hallie
    I hope so.
  53. lynn c Says:
    Why did Joy have to belabor the point about the UK singer’s looks? The woman’s VOICE is amazing……but Joy goes right in for the cynical biatch comments about the appearance of the contestant! Shallow, shallow,shallow that she cannot be-moved enough by the beautiful sounds coming from Miss Boyle but has to zero in on her looks. Oh, is that because she’s a comic? That’s another load of crap I am sick of hearing- that, as a “comic” they can say anything and it is OK. No, Joy, offensiveness can come out of anyone’s mouth, comic or not……so give up that defense. It won’t get you off the hook.
    Like Bobby Flay, he’s a cutie.
  54. marilyn Says:
    # 50 - Diane
    Susieq mentioned the other day that she was going to consider leaving the View. ( I think it was her.) ????????????
  55. heatherspeaks Says:
    miamivision,
    good for you.
    some people are toxic. family included.
    real families aren’t toxic to each other.
    real families are full of love.
    i’ve been on my own since an early age also.
    i got to know my family after years of living in foster care and grouphomes.
    some were loving, some were absolute nightmares.
    i finally made peace with my mother before she passed away in ‘05 and i enjoy my newfound relationship with my grandma.
    i’ve managed to break the cycle with my children and grandchildren.
    and it feels great.
  56. AC Says:
    Just a point about what a great guy Tori’s husband is - this is the same man who left his wife and mother of his first two children after “starring” in a dreadful movie. Oh yeah, and the little girl was only a month old. Glad he’s so devoted and hands on with Tori. And how can Candy have a relationship with Tori’s kids and not Tori? Would she leave them out on the step for Candy to pick up or perhaps put Candy at the kids table if she should come for dinner? The whole thing is pretty bizarro to me but then again, I guess Tori has to make a buck some how to support her deadbeat (I’m talking first marriage here although what exactly does he do?) husband and kids (who really are adorable). Oh and I think Barbara is really getting old. Have a great day.
  57. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Ac, I take in your points about Dean Mc. Did not know there was also a 2nd child from 1st marriage. That is troubling. I hope he does what he can to be a father to all the children.
  58. Sarah Says:
    “Don’t you think EH is intentionally leaving her children out of the conversations in an attempt to protect them? Kathie Lee paid a price for talking about her kids so much. Plus on other sites when pics of Timberley or whatshisname are shown, the comments are often brutal. I’m thinking someone may have advised her it’s better in the long run not to mention your children because the feedback can be hurtful.”
    No, I don’t. She never holds back on telling stories that make her kids sound badly behaved. She told Rachel Ray’s magazine that Taylor throws berries at her in the morning, she said on air that Taylor plays in the trash, she talked a year or so ago about how she took Grace on a bus and Grace was throwing ice at people. She talks about them enough to make me think she’s not trying to “protect them,” the problem is that she never shares any stories that are actually warm and loving, nothing that makes it sound like she actually enjoys her kids.
  59. Pepperbird Says:
    Lately I haven’t seen susieq on TVwoP either.
  60. Mary Evans Says:
    I agree #58 Sarah, and could add other examples such as Grace in the closet with easter candy, the eating chart for whatshisname (not to be confused with whatshisface).
    Kelly has lots of warm stories about her kids. Rosie did, and Mere.
    IMO, short and warm stories without the pics are not endangering them as far as I’m concerned. Just talking about cute, normal stories we hear all the time from relatives, friends, co-workers……Let alone a first step or word.
    JMO
  61. Hallie Says:
    #50, #54, #59 - Shouldn’t someone file a missing person’s report?
  62. berndoubt Says:
    #55, Bravo, heatherspeaks! Congratulations on making your life good! It’s hard to do, but you did it! I’m still working on it with my family, but I’m almost there!
  63. Diane from N.J. Says:
    SusieQ - is on Rain’s site making her usual intelligent great posts. She’s ok - understandably, she prob does need a break. Good on you Sus. Good for all being concerned for her.
    Hey where is Heather from LA - and GonnaVent - and Aileen ? All great posters.
  64. Diane from N.J. Says:
    That said, I’ve been bloggy-hoggy today.
    Nothing much getting done today in this New Jersey household. Yikes.
    Plus I need to go get my Tea Bag rally outfit ready.I’m going as Wild Eyed Michelle Bachmann.
    Later.
  65. Diane from N.J. Says:
    TEA PARTIES: from HuffPoster Eva Belle - Worth Repeating:
    “What it looks like to me is some kind of amorphous, generalized rage on the part of those who were used to running the country and now don’t feel part of the culture at all. But the only word for that is: tantrum.
    These are not tea-parties. They are tea-tantrums. And the adolescent, unserious hysteria is a function not of a movement regrouping and refinding itself. It’s a function of a movement’s intellectual collapse and a party’s fast-accelerating nervous breakdown.”
  66. Stacee Says:
    Mary Evans Says: “Rosie did, and Mere.”
    MY RESPONSE: Never heard Mere, but I loved Rosie’s stories about her kids and home life. Just so it’s known, I am not easily entertained when people start talking about their children, especially if it’s non stop(like Kathy Lee did). Nice anecdotes here and there are nice and rather enjoyable to listen to. Rosie always told good stories that taught a lesson, gave me insight, were funny and/or relatable. Loved them. Whenever I hear Bits’ stories, I feel that she comes across like she’s in over her head.
    Now sharing does have consequences. I remember Rosie put up a pic of the youngest in camo gear. The outrage was HUGE. OMG. People were suggesting child services take her kids away. IMO, that was over the top but I guess that’s the chance these people take when opening their personal lives up to the public. I can understand Bits’ position, if that is her reason for the sparse stories. However, as I mentioned earlier, the meat of her tales are lacking to begin with. Her stories always strike me as odd. And she always seems to throw in Grace stories when she wants to prove a point (like with the war and Iraq). Many times, they don’t even sound real or sincere.
  67. ds Says:
    #56 and #57, Most of us in this neck of the woods were on Team Mary Jo. Dean remains a father to Jack, his son with Mary Jo, but unfortunately refused to acknowledge in any way the baby daughter he and Mary Jo adopted about three weeks before he went to Ottawa to tape the tv movie “Mind Over Murder” co-starring Tori Spelling.
  68. AC Says:
    Sorry, I neglected to say he was in the movie with Tori and it was, apparently,love at first sight (or I guess second since he was married when he hooked up with Tori). Hey listen, I know marriages breakup for many reasons, especially in the entertainment biz, but the fact that he doesn’t even acknowledge his first daughter really makes me seeth. Tori can have him and I’m glad that Mary Jo, Dean’s ex, wrote a book about it and really came out much stronger for it. And I think the reason Tori’s body looks so teeny is that she has a really large head (I mean that literally, not implying that her ego is large!). Was the necklace Joy had on the one she was looking at on yesterday’s show about selling stuff on Ebay?
  69. Sandy Says:
    I didn’t see today’s show,
    I just want to wish Winnie the BEST OF LUCK.
  70. ShannonP Says:
    Maybe many are leaving because of the drastic change in tone and purpose that the site has taken?
    Yes, best of luck Winnie with that which must remain unspoken.
  71. Sarah Says:
    “Maybe many are leaving because of the drastic change in tone and purpose that the site has taken?”
    I’m not really sure what you’re referring to. Would you care to enlighten me?
  72. berndoubt Says:
    There has been a drastic change in tone and purpose in the United States.
  73. mibi Says:
    ok here are my conspiracy theorys about absent recaps
    1.the view and abc found out about the site and want to shut it down because winnie is so much better than the show.
    2.press 451 is mad that winnie site is so hot and they ae trying to charge/ over charge her for use
    3. finally her boss is over working her and she too nice to say so on the internet
    happy birthday to winnies newphew.
    xoxo
    missed the show not sure i care to see it.
  74. marthe Says:
    I wonder if the viewership is dropping off quite a bit. We all tuned in pre-election and it was interesting, but now back to sex surveys.
    I had the show on whilst drifting out of sleep. Gosh, all the cackle, cackle, cackle, did anybody say anything? Then I thought it was bits talking about being estranged from her mother.
    Children should be off-topic? Fine, but not when the child is herself a celebrity. There should have been more comment about Drew Barrymore being a 12 year old alcoholic [back in the day].
    Why I’m about to make a snarky comment about Taylor right now. Somebody at TWOP posted a link to more photos of bits and her son. I laughed at a photo of Taylor because he looked so much like his dad, including his male pattern baldness. I know, I know, towheads can take up to 2 years to develop a full head of hair, but it just struck me as so funny.
    What do you do when somebody throws a tea party? Ignore them. Same thing you do when somebody burns a flag.
  75. MiamiVision Says:
    Heatherspeak #55 - that’s right! and Congratulations too!!! I too broke the cycle with mine. Here’s where “out of every bad thing that happens to you in life, something good comes from that” comes into play. I’m also glad we are strong women!
    You made peace before she died - I didn’t - well I did for about 4 years when my child was born and until she started manipulating the child at 4 years old behind my back and then booking all her $$ on what a 4 y/o said three weeks later (capise?). I said “you ruined 4 children, you’re not going to get a chance to ruin mine.” She chose never to call her ONLY grandchild ever again and she died when my child was 13. OH WELL, IT ALL WAS HER LOSS in the life…because the life is all about the journey and I believe she missed the entire journey.
    Glad we touched base on this *S* - I have to get back to work for another probable 3 hours (barf LOL).
  76. Diane from N.J. Says:
    I have a question:
    There is always speculation about The View’s ratings.
    Does anybody on this blog have data on what the ratings really are? Now or in the past? anything?
  77. ShannonP Says:
    “I’m not really sure what you’re referring to. Would you care to enlighten me??
    Usually when someone phrases it as “would you care to enlighten me” they are already on the defense and not really approaching the question with a kind, open-spirited intent.
    But to clarify, I didn’t mean Winnie’s site, I enjoy her recaps. I meant the tone of the comments. It is all about who can one-up each other on their comments about Elisabeth and every little thing she does or doesn’t do or just the show in general. There used to be the odd snark about Elisabeth, but now it’s taken over the whole tone…it’s negativity galore instead of the intelligent conversation back and forth that used to be a major draw. Yes, Elisabeth is not a cool person and she’s obnoxious and a lousy host, that is beyond a given. But when did spending one’s every day devoted to pointing it out become the apparent mission? Oh she didn’t mention her kids! Oh she did mention her kids! Oh she was wearing too much! Oh she was wearing too little! I think the common bond of the core group is to snark and be cynical. That is why I stopped going to TWOP, because it was just too much and a waste of time and I couldn’t relate to people that would devote so much of their day to being negative and catty.
  78. MiamiVision Says:
    FYI folks…susieQ is as some of you mentioned taking a break. Business picked up for her husband and so she has been helping there and freeing up some time for that and for herself. She still considers “her peeps here, her peeps.” *S* She emailed me on this very subject a day or two ago.
    Berndoubt is right, the tone of the country has changed and correctly so.
  79. MiamiVision Says:
    oh well, if one is unhappy with the posts, tone, and snark of the comments here - there is always another choice.
    jes sayin……
  80. Sarah Says:
    “Usually when someone phrases it as “would you care to enlighten me” they are already on the defense and not really approaching the question with a kind, open-spirited intent.”
    Well you’re mistaken. I was attempting to be polite. I’m not really why you’re trying to guage my entire mood just on one sentence, but there was no defensiveness in my question.
    And there would probably be more intelligent debate going on in this thread if the show ever dealt with substantive topics. But since they stick to stuff like American Idol and pointless junk like that there generally isn’t anything about the show to discuss other than shallow stuff like whether we like their clothes or are annoyed by the host.
  81. heatherspeaks Says:
    miamivision #75
    at least you tried.
    if the other person doesn’t want to change the way they are…oh, well.
    their loss exactly.
    thanks for the encouraging words.
    you are a strong woman too.
  82. MiamiVision Says:
    thanks heatherspeak for that recognition (and 20 years of therapy too from 8-28 LOL)
  83. heatherspeaks Says:
    #62 berndoubt
    thank you.
    anything that requires hard work is worth it in the end.
    #74 marthe
    all that cackling reminded me of that scene in the music man where the town wives were singing “pick a little talk a little”
    i think that was song title.
    the panel sounded like clucking chickens.
    my daughter put her hands over her ears and i had to laugh.
  84. Vegas Says:
    I love Bobby Flay but I am not a huge fan of burgers, so the burger he prepared on the show today looked gross to me. And way too big. I thought Joys burger looked interesting, I liked what she did with roasting garlic and mixing the roasted garlic with butter and using it as a spread for her burger. As usual, Whoopi and especially Sherri looked like two gavones that were never taught how to eat like a lady. If that were me coming out to taste that gigantic thing Bobby created, I would have demanded a knife and fork. Then of course we were treated to watching Sherri grunting and groaning with sauce dripping out the side of her mouth. All that was missing was Whoopi picking up one of the plates and running away backstage with it. Some things never change. LOL
  85. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Good points Vegas.
    Re: Joy’s burger where she “…mix(ed) the roasted garlic with butter and using it as a spread for her burger.”
    I didn’t think it was literally ‘butter’ (butter on a pizza burger - a bit ugh). ‘Garlic butter’ is not literal - its when you take an entire bulb of garlic, cut off the end - and bake it at about 350deg. w/ a little olive oil fo rabout an hour.
    Then can squeeze out the garlic - and the result is a sort of paste ala butter. Loses a bit of its pungency. Great also for making garlic mashed potatoes. Hmmm.
    I love garlic. Its ‘nature’’s non-dairy butter!
    There ShannonP - I didn’t snark about Elizabeth Hasselbooble once this post. Oops sorry. Couldn’t resist.
  86. mibi Says:
    ok i agree with EH , I nknow right exciting, about the jamie fox thing.
    he /comedianes, public figures, whoever can say what they like joke or not but if someonea( group of someones )are offended they have the right to say what they feel about your statement. From there you either say sorry and and recognized your mistake or stand by your statement.
    that is all
  87. berndoubt Says:
    I’m a major Bitsy snarker and I won’t apologize.
  88. ShannonP Says:
    I was interested in the way Whoopi handled two things today…Joy’s petty comments/jokes about that singer from Britain’s Got Talent that completely missed the point. And in sticking up for Tori Spelling when Barbara was relentlessly trying to make her do something she obviously didn’t intend to do.
    I wish she’d do that more instead of just keeping quiet to fit in. I don’t know what is up with Joy lately with how petty and look-obsessed she’s become. Maybe she’s always been that way and I didn’t pay as much attention because I was caught up in the political undertones and discussions.
  89. Stacee Says:
    MiamiVision Says: “well I did for about 4 years when my child was born and until she started manipulating the child at 4 years old behind my back and then booking all her $$ on what a 4 y/o said three weeks later (capise?). I said “you ruined 4 children, you’re not going to get a chance to ruin mine.”
    MY RESPONSE: I’m sorry that happened. That’s one thing that I, too, would draw the line at. It’s unfortunate that you had to make that choice but it seems like you are the better off for it. Good for you, Miami.
  90. Mary Evans Says:
    I was really disappointed in Joy today too.
    I’m getting really tired of her thinking commediens are special and can say things other (regular) people can’t get away with. Personally I would not pay to go see her standup, but that is just me.
    I was very moved by Susan Boyle - I thought it was stunningly beautiful. And amazed that her voice has never been “discovered”. Joy sure knew how to put a damper on that segment, BW as well during the setup. Appreciated that WG said “talent cannot be jusdged by the visual.” Evidently Joy thinks all artists that aren’t naturally great looking should have make-overs. LOL
    How odd of BW to throw Mel Gibson into the conversation out of the blue. Man, she despises him.
  91. Stacee Says:
    heatherspeaks Says: “i’m going to take a wild stab in the dark and play armchair psychologist.
    i believe candy was jealous of her late husband’s love for his daughter.”
    MY RESPONSE: Yeah, that may be the plausible explanation. It just seemed bizarre how Candy treated Tori. It must have really hurt to be treated that way - by her own mother. It probably manifested itself in the money war, but I bet there were simmering issues long before Mr. Spelling’s death.
  92. Elsie Says:
    Joy & Babs, as I mentioned a while back, have these old-school views of women’s appearance. Giving in to the old boys’ club. They’re a decade apart, so no offense, like ss & eh. **I also think that eh knows way 2 much how dislkd sh is & plays it safe not to mention kds, the stories are past. She talks whn reqrd & sounds chaotic. @ wrk, I nvr mentiond mine, unless I was asked. some single ppl dn’t like kd’s stories & parents wr 2 concrnd abt gettiN THEIR kidz stories out.** EH did mention GH’s BDay, rmbr walk in late w/cupcakes, bid 2 do. **Like B.Flay, h’s married to Stepahie March of L&O SVU. I think she’s back. **But, eh does twitter, a req. 2? I wn’t say anything about her fam. not even the hub. Thet have enough already!
  93. Elsie Says:
    Sorry for the typos. Yeah, I forgot Tori. She’s trying to make a living. Hey, I can use 800k!, but I guess for her, she is living way blw her stndrs. She doesn’t wnt to make a fool of slf. & does wht she has to. Seen her Reality shw. fun -ish. She’s got issues w/beauty weight. has been open about it. Not impressd w/her hub or how they became a fam. Another fam. suffered. Not judging but opining, but I think she’s handling things very carefully. Another Mommy book!! Nancy O’dell, Jenny Mc,Who else?? oh well. **got lots of East. candy have of. they’ll last until May/june. no closet sneaking in my house! I’m 2 frugal (chp)
  94. Elsie Says:
    Wow, my typing is pathetic! Usually, I don’t like to take space & go back to correct errors, BUT, Easter candy have of!? wth? I meant Easter candy half off! I got a hollow yellow duckie to top Baby showr cak. Choc. crosses for bapt. 1st. comm. etc. I like to reuse the not-so-eastery stuff for other springy/summery occassion. Oh, frugality!
  95. marilyn Says:
    I rarely go negative about the hosts. But THE CROSS TALKING IS GETTING AWFUL…AGAIN.I thought they had conquered it, after many years of doing this terrible habit. Lately they are right back at the “worse of worse” , with everyone talking at once.IMO, it is the number one problem on the show. I am amazed that peeps are making comments…. am I the only one that can not hear diddly squat from the hot topics? Soooooooooooooooo frustrating !!!
  96. marilyn Says:
    # 94 Elsie:
    I love your ideas for spring time decorations with the Easter candy half off . Thanks for sharing.
  97. mibi Says:
    just watch the clip of BW and Tori. Bw needs to learn just causse you want a guest to answer a question(and answer it a certain way) does not mean it is going to happen and repeatly asking will not help.
    It as clear to me that Tori wants her mom to be in a her kids life and that that situation is private and seperate from her feelings about her mom and there relationship which is more public. BW is a smart woman should get that and leave it be.
  98. Elsie Says:
    Missed show today. Can’t really comment fully, but can imagine the Tori drilling (BW pushing bony hands against interoguee’s flesh, pushing for answers. Can pic. it!), and the cross talk! (Ahhumm!, Ummhumm! I just want.., but.., ok, (sex joke), rolling eyes, Tweet, tweet. my friend..JB:’WHY??) Oh, I can just picture it.
    Back to Tori. She’s going thru a hard very public personal time. Has beauty issues, has been mocked on lack of talent, being AS’s daughter, knows she ‘wrecked a home’ and is almost contrite, and has candidly expressed that is could easily happen to her, But she’s trying to take advantage of every opportunity she gets. And, yes, working hard at it w/out making the fool of herself like other celebs. Not a fan of hers or of what she did, but like the way she’s handling her situation. She Is putting herself out there, but she’s taking the hits and dodging bullets, and doing what she has to. Also, she seems to take her family everywhere. So, Dean doesn’t spend time w/his other children. Life is sure not perfect.
  99. Elsie Says:
    You’re welcome!
  100. MiamiVision Says:
    Thanks stacee - everyone in our life is better of for it LOLOL.
    Diane in NJ - yummmm on garlic!! Garlic is nature’s antibiotic! If I’m gonna roast an entire one, I’m gonna eat it, and not use it for garlic butter. I will press cloves and put THAT into butter and then have garlic butter although uncooked (great for french or Italian bread in the oven thereafter).
    now ya got me hungry *lol*
  101. Hallie Says:
    EH’s close encounter with the cyclist made the MSM. It’s on msnbc’s main page.
  102. Stacee Says:
    LOL, I just saw that, Hallie.
    Also, Heidi Klum may be pregnant (I love her)
    and I just barely found out exactly what Jamie Foxx said. Gotta agree, that remark was in bad taste. I don’t care if he’s a comedian or a Target cashier, that was IMO terrible to say. Jamie should have Blame(d) it (On the Alcohol) :-)
  103. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Miami - Glad you like the garlic too. Hey I owe you an email….*s*.
  104. marthe Says:
    Ugh, bits made my local paper also. Huffpo had a brief report that sherri twittered she is thinking of getting braces. I’m not a twitterer; do peeps follow them?
    According to a New Yorker article that I’m now reading [mag checked out for free from the library and has to go back in another week; less magazine clutter] Oscar de la Renta makes his haute couture clothing in the good usa with unionized workers.
    I don’t like garlic; my sister used to torture me at night with her garlic chicken breath. I substitute shallots. Lol, that’s why valerie bertinelli did not continue dating spielberg; he doesn’t like garlic also, and that was just too much of an incompatibility reach.
    Did our bay area phone outage last week make the national news? Strongly believed to be an inside job, but how scarily easy it was to break the infrastructure like that.
    Rog, I’d love to discuss the religion thing sometime, but atrocities aren’t limited to religion.
  105. ShannonP Says:
    I bet you tomorrow they talk about the airline requiring obese people to buy two seats. Joy is probably already writing her jokes for it.
  106. mibi Says:
  107. Mary Evans Says:
    marthe - I don’t twitter either but you are able to see Winnie’s twitter in the right hand column, just clink. Then you can clink on the photos of SS or EH.
    All I can say is EH has a very good PR person.
    Hope Roger is safe and back from his Tea Party, can’t wait to hear all about it. :-D
  108. Stacee Says:
    LOL mibi!
    Glad you got it.
    By the way, I love that song :-)
  109. Stacee Says:
    Oh! Forgot to say hope your nephew had a nice 1st b-day today, Winnie :-)
  110. gonnavent Says:
    Hey Roger - thanks for asking where I have been! Between Passover and Easter, we’ve been pretty busy at my house! And, I decided to repaint our bathroom and living room - why, I have no idea - totally spontaneous.
    I’m really curious, however, to find out what is going on with Winnie!
  111. gonnavent Says:
    Oh, and Roger, with regards to your question about religion the other day…my husband and I are both Secular Humanists - but we still celebrate the holidays for the “food and festivities” LOL!
  112. gonnavent Says:
    The holidays of our childhoods that is…
  113. Stacee Says:
    Hey gonnavent. It’s good to see you. You’ve been missed. Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you’re doing.
  114. gonnavent Says:
    Thanks Stacee!
  115. Julianne Says:
    I miss SusieQ.
    Why didn’t that bike messenger run her selfish, ska**y a** over?
  116. msroncon Says:
    Joy was totally wrong about how the child should yell and get it out.
    I’m a teacher too, and for her to say it’s ok for these kids to disrespect them, it makes it harder for teachers to deal with them and anyone else that comes into their life.
    Also, sorry but I do not look at Joy as a comedian. I never thought she was funny. It’s like she self appointed herself.
  117. msroncon Says:
    There is a picture on TMZ of EH walking down the street trying to handle Taylor throwing a fit.
  118. Kelly Says:
    President Obama kept his campaign promise and delivered the most expansive tax cut in history to middleclass Americans. The majority – 95% of the teabaggers will receive larger tax returns, increased medical coverage and will pay fewer taxes. Maybe they should turn off Rush.
    If there were 670,000 teabaggers across the nation – which is the highest estimate I’ve seen – then at best that would only account for .2% of the US population. That’s POINT 2 percent. Not exactly a revolt. For breakdown by state - Google: FiveThirtyEight How Many Attended The Tea Parties?
    To borrow the words of an esteemed fellow blogger – berndoubt: “Grassroots movements are begun at the grassroots, which is with the people. Astroturf movements are begun by people who want to motivate others to do their bidding for them. Tea bag protests are for the benefit of people who get paid way too much money to do very little, including riling people up with empty rhetoric on America’s public airwaves. The Boston Tea Party was a protest of taxation without representation. By virtue of our congress people, we are all represented, so we are taxed with representation. If you don’t like what your taxes are spent on, elect someone else the next time.”
    btw - Bush doubled our National Debt with hidden budgets. Where were our teabaggers then? Google it. The biggest increase under any president in U.S history occurred with Bush. FACT. And most of our money was given to no-bid contractors or lost overseas in Iraq – home to US Big Oil.
    Bush doubled our National Debt WHILE bankrupting the world economy. That’s really quite impressive.
    Breaking News: Bush’s NSA illegally wiretapped members of Congress.
  119. Diane from N.J. Says:
    From ThinkProgress.org” - Yesterday - Re: Tea Parties Really A Grass Roots Movement ??
    “Spontaneous Uprising? Corporate Lobbyists Helping To Orchestrate Radical Anti-Obama Tea Party Protests
    Today on Fox News — which has actively been promoting the protests — Glenn Beck pushed the tea party talking points, similarly claiming that the protests aren’t “coordinated” and are fully organized by “regular” people.
    Despite these attempts to make the “movement” appear organic, the principle organizers of the local events are actually the lobbyist-run think tanks Americans for Prosperity and FREEDOM WORKS. The two groups are heavily staffed and well funded, and are providing all the logistical and public relations work necessary for planning coast-to-coast protests:
    – Freedom Works staffers coordinate conference calls among protesters, contacting conservative activists to give them “sign ideas, sample press releases, and a map of events around the country.”
    – Freedom Works staffers apparently moved to “take over” the planning of local events in Florida.
    – Freedom Works provides how-to guides for delivering a “clear message” to the public and media.
    – Freedom Works has several domain addresses — some of them made to look like they were set up by amateurs — to promote the protests.
    – Americans for Prosperity is writing press releases and planning the events in New Jersey, Arizona, New Hampshire, Missouri, Kansas, and several other states. ”
    * FREEDOM WORKS IS RUN BY DICK ARMEY - FORMER HOUSE LEADER (R - TX).
    Remember ‘Lil Dick Armey ? He once publically called Barney Frank, Barney ” Fag” right on the house floor.
  120. Carmella Says:
    Up here in Canada posters - enjoyed the read. My husband using the term “teabagged” to refer to getting hit in the ‘tenders’ or privates…not sure if anyone else knows or uses that term in that way…
    BTW - don’t like Bush - never did. Dislike EH just as much.
    Do love those who struggle with learning - can’t stand stupidity, selfish,….love love love poking fun at both those goons! Happy Thursday. Waiting patiently to hear from Winnie.
  121. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Kelly - Thank You and W.O.W.
    I did Google FiveThirtyEight. Saw breakdown of tea bagging buy state. Overwhelming - NOT!
    Ashamed of numbers for Morristown, NJ. FYI - Morristown is a RICH TOWN !!!!!
    Good Site.
    Highly recommend that all bookmark it - chock full of important info.
    We all should know what Senators are up for relelection in 2010, for example.
  122. Jenny From Australia Says:
    I think you could tell Tori wasnt happy with the interview.
  123. Diane from N.J. Says:
    “THE RICH BUY THE STUPID AND MANUFACTURE A MOVEMENT….”
    Re: Tea Parties - Well I think that headline just about sums the genesis of the whole Tea Party thing up. The rich & the powerful in the Republican party have all along ‘courted’ the ignorant vote with hatred, fear, and culture wars…..these are my words.
    But clink on the link, and scroll down for the above title article.
  124. Kelly Says:
    LOL (hand over mouth) - LOL
    Thanks Diane - LOL
    So true - the TRUTH always finds a way.
  125. Roger from Ohio Says:
    Sorry I didnt come back and check in….
    As you all know, I get easily distracted lol
    The “Teabaging” was kinda disappointing on our side. They ran a 1/4 page ad in the newspaper and they had 50 - 60 people show up. The “opposition” was quite the disappointment. Only 6 people showed up…. me and my buddy drove by, but didnt stop….. he said a few choice words about the lazy bastards and we went to eat instead. LMAO
    If they drug it out of me, Id say they were successful, I would have changed my mind if they had 10 more people show up for the good side….. but obviously the dems in this red town just dont get it.
  126. Roger from Ohio Says:
    #80 Sarah–
    And there would probably be more intelligent debate going on in this thread if the show ever dealt with substantive topics.
    We all understood your question Sarah…. You made a great point too…. There are a lot of “hot topics” that this show chooses not to discuss…. so we are limited to what we talk about….. it is a shame that we are stuck with inane topics from the hosts of The View…. the have missed out on so many things and probably dont even realize it.
    I think the problem is The View is directed to less than intelligent women…. this site is directed to very intelligent and strong women……. Those women that The View gear their show toward will always defend The View and come to the show’s defense when honesty is spoken.
    Please keep speaking your mind Sarah.
  127. Roger from Ohio Says:
    #104 marthe–
    Rog, I’d love to discuss the religion thing sometime, but atrocities aren’t limited to religion.
    Yes I understand that marthe….. I tried to discuss it with my mom and it was flat with her too…….
    my point is this… If religion is such a good thing….. helps people become more moral….. people use religion all the time to make themselves feel as thought they are better than those people that dont believe.
    If religion actually does all those good things…. then why doesnt religion stop people from committing atrocities?
  128. Stacee Says:
    It’s nice to see you, Roger. You had a few of us worried.
  129. Roger from Ohio Says:
    Thanks Stacee
    I just loved it when I read that people thought that I got arrested lol
    too funny!
  130. Kelly Says:
    Received an email from SusieQ. She’s alive and well. Thought I’d put your minds at ease.
    #9 Diane says: “Kelly - Wiping away tears from watching video of Susan Boyle, 47 years old. WOW - It is never too late, is it? Do you remember Paul Pots from that show about 2 years ago?”
    Sorry Diane – I just now saw this….moderation maybe?
    Do I remember Paul Potts? Boy do I. I downloaded his “Nessun Dorma” onto my iPod. I’m playing it now on my computer – I can still see the expressions on the faces of the audience and the judges. I played it for my Easter Dinner along with then 7-year-old Connie Talbot’s “I Believe” and “Over the Rainbow.” Connie was the runner up to Paul Potts.
    These Brits are Fab. I love an underdog – and I could have choked when Simon said to Paul, after he sang his opera, “So you work at Car Phone Warehouse, and you did that?” Or when Simon, after Amanda scolded the audience for their cynicism, said, “I knew the minute you walked out on that stage that we were going to hear something extraordinary and I was right.” HAHA
    Paul Potts was on with Meredith this morning congratulating Susan Boyle. Very sweet. Two new millionaires who really seem to deserve it and that kind of joy is contagious.
    Susan Boyle back story (wiki): Susan is a Scottish church volunteer who leapt to almost immediate global fame with a rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables.
    Cowell is reported to be setting up a contract with Boyle with his Syco Music company label, a subsidiary of Sony Music.
    Boyle is the youngest of nine children and lives in Blackburn with her ten-year-old cat, Pebbles. Boyle suffered oxygen deprivation during birth, resulting in learning disabilities. Her classmates teased her because of this and her appearance. Early on she received some professional voice training in Livingston, Scotland. Boyle recorded a version of “Cry Me a River” for a charity CD in 1999. She stopped her pursuit of singing to look after her sick mother, who died in 2007 at the age of 91. Her performance in the regional finals of Britain’s Got Talent was the first time Boyle had sung after her mother’s death. Boyle stated in The Washington Post that she entered the contest at the behest of her late mother, who urged her to “take the risk” of singing in front of an audience larger than her parish church. She is unmarried and presently unemployed. She aspires to become a musical theatre singer in the vein of Elaine Paige
  131. Stacee Says:
    Kelly, I just barely saw the video of Boyle today. Wow, pretty impressive back story.
    Judging by some of the audience’s reaction before she sang, they had pretty much written her off. Boy, did the faces change when she started to sing.
    Good for her.
  132. Elsie Says:
