The View April 28th Recap: Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki
Sherri Shepherd did the March for Babies walk this weekend for the March of Dimes, along with her son Jeffrey, who was born prematurely, and her estranged husband Jeff. She said that they got along really well. Joy Behar said that no matter what if you have a kid together, you can’t get rid of the ex-husband. Sherri said that she found herself wondering why she and her husband are separated. Whoopi asked her if she finally remembered. She said yes. Joy said that sometimes you look at the kid and it is easier to forgive if you think you should be together for the sake of the kid. Elisabeth said that she gives Sherri a lot of credit for how she has handled the whole situation. Sherri said that everyday she works on forgiveness. Joy joked that it was her second job.
Wesley Snipes got three years for failing to file income taxes. Elisabeth said that IRS is setting an example. Whoopi talked briefly again about the government taking a lot money, saying the IRS knows that people are “getting boned” and getting very little in return. She said that not paying taxes is a way to get their attention. Sherri said that is how you end up in jail.
Miley Cyrus appeared in provocative photos in Vanity Fair. Elisabeth said that they probably told her that they were very artistic and she is in a bubble. She added that it comes down to the parents who should be the ones in control because she is only 15. Whoopi said that it is wrong for them to say that they were manipulated because she knows that the photographer Annie Lebowitz would have shown them all the photos and had them approve them. Joy said that Miley’s fans are aging and she is trying to keep up with them. She added that she thought the photo of Miley with father Billy Ray Cyrus was a little odd and could not imagine posing that way with her own father. She thinks maybe he is trying to resurrect his own career.
Hillary Clinton wants another debate with Barack Obama, this time without a moderator. Elisabeth said that she didn’t think she could take a debate between them with no moderator. Joy said that Hillary should realize “He’s just not that into you.”
Reverend Wright said the reason he is speaking out is because he wants to defend himself. Sherri said that when Wright was on Bill Moyers he explained that he took the “chickens coming home to roost” comment from an ambassador and that “God Damn America” comments were after he explained talked about bad things that the country did as a whole against its own people and around the world.
Elisabeth said that to suggest that people got what they deserved in 9/11 is despicable. Whoopi and Sherri both said that is not what he said. Joy said that is just saying we need to look at middle east policy, what Ron Paul has also said, but doing it in a different way. Elisabeth said a survey said that 56% of Black people thought what he said was despicable. Whoopi said that she didn’t think so and that people are being invited into a Black church for the first time. Elisabeth said that she has been in a Black church and never heard things like “GD America.”
Sherri said that righteous anger can be a good thing. She said that Martin Luther King was anger and that led to good things happening. Elisabeth said it is because Obama is preaching “one America” that it is a problem for her.
Three NYPD officers were cleared off all charges for shooting unarmed man Shawn Bell. Whoopi thought it was interesting that the judge based his decision in part on the rap sheet of the victims. She wondered how the officers knew that at the time that they had a record and equated it to saying a woman in a short skirt is asking to get attacked.
Most shoes women wear are damaging their feet. Sherri says that her feet, but she wears them anyway because they look good. Joy said that she has magnificent feet because she never wore bad shoes. Whoopi said that she has “kissable feet.” The person who wrote the article (I guess? They didn’t really explain) thinks you should go barefoot. They all agreed that is impractical in the city and Whoopi said people need to worry about getting infections if the have even the smallest cut on their foot and walk around barefoot.
Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki from The Big Bang Theory appeared on the show. Johnny joked about the Miley Cyrus photo that “no one knew she had a shoulder?” He also said that when he sees that on the news, he thinks “Great news! The war must be over.”
Kaley said that there may be an upcoming romance between her character and Johnny’s character, but they may draw it out. She loves working on a show as the only woman. Johnny said that he grew up doing theater in Chicago, so he wasn’t the most popular kid and can relate to his geeky character.
Johnny’s former Roseanne co-stars Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert have both appeared on the show and are a lot of fun. He said that he doesn’t understand a lot of the physics things that he has to talk about on the show.
Kaley still doesn’t have a boyfriend and Johnny avoided questions about his personal life, saying he is just working. He has no interest in directing. His mother was in a convent and also a police officer.
Dawn Wells, of Gilligan’s Island fame, also appeared on the show. She was arrested for reckless driving and possession of marijuana last fall. She said that is embarrassing and has lost jobs because of it. It was her birthday and she had two drinks. She said that she was in Idaho, leaned over to play with the heater in a new car, and swerved. She said that it wasn’t her marijuana in her car and she was not charged with DUI. Other people drove her car that day and the person whose marijuana it really was stepped forward and the charges were dropped. All Dawn ended up with was a reckless driving charge and had to pay a fine.
Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, The Big Bang Theory, Dawn Wells, Miley Cyrus

Whoopi asked EH if she had a difficult situation this weekend and EH said she’d rather talk about it tomorrow…I hope that she got canned but probably no such luck. She and the rest of the girls got into a little bickering over the Rev Wright thing again today. I saw O’Reilly (as I was scanning tv shows) this weekend say that Sherri was a “pinhead” and showed her arguing with EH about Wright in a clip he had. Of course he was taking up for EH..two peas in a pod.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Sherri did an excellent job presenting the facts today.
April 28th, 2008 at 11:33 am
EH continues to get worse. She is surrounded by wise, educated women and constantly needs to “explain” issues like she is an expert. Her self-righteous manner is more than most of us viewers can take. Whoopi, Joy, and Sherry are wonderful and always willing to listen to each other, but they need to silence EH. She takes up valuable time with ignorant jibber. Get rid of her!!
April 28th, 2008 at 11:47 am
You need to can EH. She talks over all of the other gals and interrupts them. Half the things she talks about are way off base. Today was just another example of her ineptness when they were all talking about Rev. Wright.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Joy was great in asking EH what does she thinks John McCain can do for our country. EH is a smart young lady however she is very closed minded and just don’t want to here or obsorb others opinion. EH just doesn’t get it.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Really need to get rid of her. ABC can find another young, blond Republican who has a brain in her head. There must be one somewhere!
Question: What was her “issue” over the weekend?
April 28th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
I really can’t bear to listen to her act as if she doesn’t understand what Whoopi and company have tried to explain to her about Rev. Wright. EH’s argument is beyond ignorant. This is just a long auditon for her to get her ignorant behind on Faux news. We just have to suffer thru it until she shores up a job offer. I wish they would just ignore her interjections and talk around her they have to be exasperated with her dragging down and dumbing down the conversation.
April 28th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
“Elisabeth said it is because Obama is preaching “one America” that it is a problem for her.”
Was it a problem for her that GWB ran as “a uniter, not a divider” and yet had been aligned for many many years and gubernatorial campaigns with the most divisive, hateful adviser of all time, Karl “Mr. Wedge Issue” Rove, disciple of Lee “Hate-mongering” Atwater?
Ugh.Today’s discussion of Wright was more of the same, silly crap-ola. Dump EH! She’s just a mouthpiece for the GOP. Pull the string at her neck and let the talking points come forth. The viewers deserve better. She’s an insult to women.
Did EH say she watched the Bill Moyers interivew of Wright? Or listen to Wright’s speech in Detroit? Because she is so, you know. “concerned” about him?
I hope tomorrow she announces her resignation from the show! I’m off to light some candles ……

Thanks Winnie,
I didn’t see the show today, always enjoy your recaps.
Forgiveness isn’t easy when someone has deeply hurt you. However I firmly believe that it gives the forgiver great peace of mind, and heart. I too give Sherri a lot of credit for how she has and is, handling her life and working towards forgiveness of her ex.
Miley Cyrus; The parents should be the ones in control, I agree. Like Whoopi, I also feel sure that the parents were shown the photo’s to approve. so…I guess they approved. I would not have.
I did watch Rev. Wright on Bill Moyers show, which I often watch. I believe that Rev. Wright certainly has the right to defend himself, and his church, and I don’t blame him for wanting to set the record straight. I found the interview interesting.
I don’t necessarily agree with or understand Rev. Wright’s type of theology, but then I’m not a Black person.
I do agree that Elisabeth, and many others, should try to understand Rev. Wright from a Black person’s point of view.
It has always been my opinion that senator Obama doesn’t have to agree with Rev. Wright because he attends the church where Rev. Wright was a Pastor.
I liked Johnny’s remark or joke, concerning Miley Cyrus.
He also said that when he sees that on the news, he thinks “Great news! The war must be over.” Very fitting.

Watching EH on The View is like watching a five year old being invited to sit at the grown up table at Thanksgiving. At first the adults indulge and/or overlook her temper tantrums, the rudeness, the complete lack of understanding of any issue that is complex. And then after awhile it starts to grate on the adults’ nerves, until they get so annoyed they want to send the little child back to the kiddie table. Well I am hanging on to The View by a thread, hoping, praying for the day when EH gets sent back to the kids table where she belongs.
The one problem with my analogy is that 5 year olds still have their cute moments, and they at least have an excuse for being poorly informed. I certainly can’t say the same about EH.
I don’t know how much longer I can bear to watch this show with her interrupting what could be interesting conversations with her mindless, self-righteous, repetitive, talking points. It’s truly embarrassing that EH is supposed to be representing my age group on the show.
April 28th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I thought it was weird when whoopi said EH has some bad news about her family or something but EH was smiling so I didnt really get that. And the fact that she was told in her ear not to talk about it today was annoying too, I wish they would try to not make it so obvious that they have people talking to them throughout the show.
April 28th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Sarah: Perfect analogy! And I agree with you that at least the real 5 year old has cute moments. The real five year old might also soak up and learn a little bit despite being five, another this is another thing little Bitsy doesn’t do. I would fall off my chair if she would have just one contemplative moment and truly listen to what the patient adults are politely trying to explain to her. When she kept interrupting with inane comments such as: “I’ve been to a Black church!” as if she understands the Black experience in America I wanted to scream.

Please tell me she’s not pregnant AGAIN.

i do agree with rev wright as a many poeple do not agree with him and i believe black american (56 percent) are just as unhappy with his statments as anyone else, however i think black americans(undertanably?) are more able or willing to understand where he is coming from( i do not understand the black church idea but as a young black person i do understand that older blacks in particular can be very angry). also i think black americans are less likely to hook rev wright and his ideas to obama.
EH argument is like saying if you are raise by your parents for 18 years you will believe just like they do ( which is not true in amny cases.) I aslo am never complelety happy with WG or SS defence and or expalaination of black america view on this and other similar issues
finally voiceing the problems you have with your country is a right everyone in this country has and what sets it apart form places in the world. however you must be counsious of how you come off and what you are saying , but i can not agree with ths idea that some parents i read about had that they should only teach thier kids good things about the america to get them to be ” more patriotic”. love your country despite if flaws do not try and hide them.
finally for real i fell bad for miley cyrus she probaly really though these pic would be well received and is trying to be a little more grown up. she just need some better advice.

# 16 Mibi,
Don’t feel as though you have to worry about typo’s. It’s okay, we all make mistakes some times.
I also “always” enjoy reading your comments.

Might be a blessing that the Pres is on at the time the View is airing. I’m sure after the comments Rev. Wright made yesterday, EH will open mouth and insert foot once again and I’ll be screaming at her to SHUT UP already!!!!!
April 29th, 2008 at 11:00 am
“Please tell me she’s not pregnant AGAIN.”
I feel just the opposite. Please tell me she is, because then we will get another break from her.

I stopped watching The View because of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She’s an idiot. Words fall out of her mouth and she does not know what she is talking about. She bristles and challenges anyone who disagrees with her as if they hadn’t the right to an opinion. She needs to be gone from that show to bring back women like me who are just plain sick of her big mouth.
