The official Whoopi Goldberg welcome party has begun at The View, as the first promotional photo has been released. The photo, above, shows Whoopi with regular cast members Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and a pregnant Elisabeth Hasselbeck. According to People magazine, the search for the fifth host “could take a while” and “right now, it’s all about Whoopi.”

Whoopi begins her new gig as moderator on September 4th.

The search for the 5th host “could take awhile”? Wonder wha’s going on with Sherri?

And does this mean we will continue to see Barb on a daily basis?
    Oh boy.

  2. Winnie McCarthy Says:

That’s the first thing that I thought of: Barbara will have to be on all the time still!! Unless they keep up with the guest host thing. (please!)

  3. Shannon Says:

Barbara needs to just do guest appearances…she’s just really out of place on that show. They want to bring in viewers, yet they keep her on there and it tames the show each time. By tame I mean makes it boring. No one can be themselves, everyone is worried about ticking off Barbara and the whole mood of the show changes when she is on there.
And gee, do you think Elisabeth is pregnant? That pose in that picture made me laugh.
I hope they don’t get Sherri for the 5th host, she just doesn’t have the personality for it. They need someone who is naturally fun.

  4. Shut-Eyed Says:

Wow, Whoopi looks soooo thrilled to be standing with those dysfunctional, dumb, multi-generational legion of bobble heads. Proof positive her career is officially d-o-n-e.

As for the comment above about naturally fun- I don’t think any of these chicks possesses that element at all. Whoopi and her vacant stare looks like she needs meds. Joy is just a straight up sour chick. BW is dated. EH is a nervous, ridiculous mess. You’d have to clear the whole panel and re-cast before ANY sense of fun could come to that table. Ridiculous.

  5. cynthia Says:

you know something? no one is forcing any one to watch this show. i watch it because i enjoy it. so….don’t like the heat? please stay out of the kitchen.

i am amazed at what i see online. a hate site against r. ray. wow. if you don’t like her… don’t watch her. why must people take the time to diss and denegrate. they go so far as to talk about her weight and size of her anatomy. geesh. get a life.

my point? just don’t watch a show if you don’t like the people in the cast. move on. i would be quite unhappy if they would “clear the whole panel”.

and, i do defend your right to critique. i am, basically, saying that i am amazed that some seem to watch shows just to be able to vent about them and diss the cast. odd way to pass the time. LOL

  6. Stacee Says:

I happen to like this site and Winnie’s style. I read one day and was hooked. I like keeping up with what is going on, reading opinions and different viewpoints.

I have been hoping he View can regain the spark that interested me before. I will usually check here to get an idea if something will be of interest so I can decide whether to tune in or not. I thought with the addition of Whoopi (which I first heard about HERE) plus another host, Barb would not be there. It appears that will not happen, thus I commented on that.

Also, I did like the View format and some of the hosts. I liked Rosie when she was there and used to really enjoy Joy (now, not so much but she’s better than the others). I loved the Hot Topics and political talk.

So yes, I will comment when I do like something and will also comment when I don’t If I choose to vent and “diss the cast” so be it, though it is interesting to see someone who chides others about their ‘odd way of passing the time’ taking THEIR time to critique others. LOL

  7. Shannon Says:

This isn’t the dark ages Cynthia, women are free to talk about their opinions on things. And isn’t that what the women on the View do? The show you are supporting? I’ve seen them diss all kinds of people, but you don’t think viewers have that equal right?
That’s what public forums are usually about. It’s not a fan club, it’s a place to discuss your opinion on the show.
If you disagree with something, you have the equal right of just skipping over it and posting about things that interest you. It’s your choice what you post.

  8. Sandi Says:

I agree that this is a forum for views, both positive and negative! How unAmerican to proffer that, “if you don’t like it don’t watch it!” thus stifling free speech! Anyway, I vowed I wouldn’t watch The View after Rosie left. But, I will try to watch occasionally once Whoopi begins her (probably brief) stint! I always liked Whoopi, and mostly find Joy amusing and can barely tolerate Babs, but Elisabeth Hasselbeck is an ignorant, imbecilic, miserable, waste of oxygen who espouses “Christian” values without a shred of decent Christianity in her! I always think of Christians as gracious, loving, gentle souls filled with the beauty of Christ. Instead this squeaky-voiced idiot has been given this forum and that makes me livid with anger. Of course Bill Gedde (however he spells his name) has the hots for this jerk so she stays. If I hear her spout off again without Whoopi putting her in her place, I’m outta here once more!

  9. jess Says:

thank you sandi…rosie got me addicted, and i hope whoopi can return the show…however, i am losing hope.

  10. cynthia Says:

sure didn’t mean to upset anyone.

i won’t be posting here much. i am sick to see such vitrolic words directed towards elizabeth. how sad. can’t you just say you don’t like her? that description of her is certainly not in the Christian manner. wow.

i do like this site as it keeps us up with anything we may have missed. i just don’t care for the harsh adjectives. that’s all.

    to each his own.
