I personally enjoyed the show today. It was charming.
I thought Alicia Keys was a wonderful guest today! She is so self-aware, earth conscious, benevolent, and talented. Such an amazingly refreshing and “real” human being! Not to mention she is a gorgeous woman.
Joy was right she has the entire package and can’t wait until she does the Lena Horne story. I can relate to her on so many levels. She is my favorite music artist. Her song, “Like I’ll Never See You Again” is so soulful and soothing. Words can’t describe how much I love Alicia!
Danny Glover was another great guest, I can hear him talk all day long. He is so wise and humble and a great actor.
December 19th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
Boy, this show has really become pro-black.
December 19th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Shannon, spill. I don’t watch the show and I’d like to know your thoughts.
December 19th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
Never mind, Shannon. I think I understand what you meant.
December 19th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Good show today. Chit chat was friendly, fun and I agree with Ken that Alicia Keys was great. Love Danny Glover. I met him at Cincy airport years ago and he was so friendly to the several of us that were gathered around him. One of the women drew out three slips of paper and handed them to him. I said “What are you doing”? and she asked him to sign all 3 slips to give to the 3 of us, which he did graciously. I could have died of embarrasment but he was so nice about it. Whoopie probably would have told Phyliss to go jump..
December 19th, 2007 at 12:47 pm
Shannon,
Are you saying that the View use to be anti-black?
December 19th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
Come on Watching the View Crew, go vote for Winnie!

December 19th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
“can’t wait until she does the Lena Horne story.”
When is she going to do that, did she announce it on the View? I like Alicia’s old songs better than the new ones.
December 19th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
May,
Johnny Depp is one of the most gorgeous..Oops I meant generous celebrities when it comes to signing autographs.
December 19th, 2007 at 1:03 pm
No that’s not what I was saying, Rainlillie. New Linda understood what I was implying. But to answer your question, no I don’t think the View was or ever has been anti-black. lol
December 19th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
“Boy, this show has really become pro-black.”
The tone of your post sounds as if you think it’s a bad thing… Am I wrong?
December 19th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
The tone of my post was neutral, Rainlillie. That was MY point of view. Maybe it wasn’t a PC (politically correct)statement but it just seems to me that there are more blacks on the show now than before.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
I personally haven’t kept count of which race of people have appeared on the View the most. I mean really…Who the heck cares!
December 19th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
I missed the hot topics today. Did Alicia contribute much? During Danny’s interview she only asked one question; Whoopi and Sherri dominated the interview. I would have liked to have heard her more.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:34 pm
Rainlillie, Ha..I got your freudian slip when you were discussing Johnny Depp. This is a totally off the subject post but after I resigned my lab tech job, I went to work at the airport in Cincy and saw many celebs. Most were very nice and Phylis Diller was great fun talking to us and surprisingly even grouchy old Dick Cheney talked to me (I worked behind the counter at the candy, popcorn store). He was not veep at the time but was on staff of Bush Sr I think.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Great show today!
Alicia Keyes (who I personally never really cared for before because she always struck me as a little stand-offish) was fantastic. She seems very grounded with incredible talent. I thought she contributed to the show greatly and added quite a bit to the conversation. She has changed my view of her after this appearance. My only regret is she did not sing “No One”. I love that song and would have loved to hear her sing it live today. She’s a wonderful singer and soooo beautiful.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
rainlillie Says:
“I personally haven’t kept count of which race of people have appeared on the View the most. I mean really…Who the heck cares!”
LOL I haven’t kept count either. Maybe we should start keeping a tally?

December 19th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
Shannon,
LOL at “The View” gone pro-black comment.
I know you meant to be neutral.
If you notice it is also a FACT too that Alicia Keys and Carrie Ann Inaba are the only two co-hosts of a mixed race to fill in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck seat.
If you want to notice ethnicity, okay. Which I think the two was chosen from an “image” standpoint to be honest. You probably understand what I mean by that don’t you? LOL!
I’m actually glad that Alicia Keys didn’t get into the political debate and I have personal reasons for believing so and I don’t think I will get into that here.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
“I’m actually glad that Alicia Keys didn’t get into the political debate and I have personal reasons for believing so and I don’t think I will get into that here.”
Oh, come on Ken…play along. Tell us.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:47 pm
I’m back again with more useless info. Just remembered that Cheney was Secretary of Defense under Bush Sr. Also I noted that one of the requirements of Cheney’s hotel downtime stays requires that all of the t.v. sets must be tuned to Foxnews (Faux news as some of you say). Should we be surprised?
December 19th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
Haha you’re so funny New Linda! Thanks for the encouragement.
Well, it is a simple one, I think she has done great things in music and many folks look up to her and respect her. To slip up and make a strong opinionated comment about a candidate or issue can possibly cause a backlash.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
I didn’t get to see the show, darn.
I like Alicia and Danny and would have liked to have seen them.
I find the comments interesting.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
She definately is a low key person. What she does she does well (sing and entertain).
You never see her out at parties or in the tabloids. She concentrates on making music. She doesn’t allow for distractions. So I definately agree with your sentiment.
December 19th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
Shannon: WOW– It is all part of a major coup– first We take over The View– next The WHITE HOUSE!!!! All of the signs are there. Perhaps they will replace Bawa Walters with Ertha Kitt–

Sorry about the multi posts– I got enter happy!!
December 19th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
“LOL I haven’t kept count either. Maybe we should start keeping a tally?”
ROTFLMAO! Good idea Stacee!
May,
I can’t believe you got to meet Cheney. I didn’t know he could come out in the daylight…LOL!
“It is all part of a major coup– first We take over The View– next The WHITE HOUSE!!!! All of the signs are there. Perhaps they will replace Bawa Walters with Ertha Kitt.”
misslingdow, You just made me spit tea all over my keyboard. OMG! that’s too funny!
December 19th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
I hate to take the subject off the current coup LOL thats going on to ask. do evanglical christians think that Doctors are somehow a-religious. Sherri said matter of factly that ron paul was also a gynocologist after someone mentioned he disagreed with huckabees christmas commericals. is this a comon view or just sherris’ ?

Saint Patrick’s Day 2007
Guy Behind the Counter: You celebrating St. Patty’s Day?
Me: No, I’m not.
GBTC: You’re Irish aren’t ya?
Me: No, I’m Puerto Rican.
GBTC: Really?
Me: Yes.
GBTC: Well you don’t look it and that’s a good thing.
Me: Are you trying to compliment me?
GBTC: Yeah, man. You’re hot.
Me:
GBTC: Wanna hang out tonight?
Me: Are you sure? I may not look Puerto Rican, but I am.
GBTC: That’s okay, no one will be able to tell.
Friend: Can you believe that guy?
Me: Nope.
Friend: Who does he think he is?
Me: I know, right? What makes him think that I’m the type of gal who’ll go on a date with a guy who works fulltime at a deli counter.
My friend and I laugh as we drive away in my BMW.
GBTC = Racist
Me = Snob
We’re even
December 19th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
I see that there is another Shannon now posting. I’ll switch mine to ShannonP so people know the difference. I posted yesterday that I thought Sherri was being a little racist.
I’ll try to remember to always put P after my name. I’ve been posting on the site for a while, so it’s kind of habit to just do Shannon. Maybe I’ll have to just think of a unique name for this board.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
New Linda,
Interesting..St. Patrick’s Day post.
I like it, ..it gives one food for thought.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
I should have known that you all wouldn’t understand my statement.
December 19th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
Sandy, please don’t think I’m a delist.
December 19th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
Shannon, you didn’t make a statement. You put a few sentences together in a post and let readers come up with their own conclusion. And they did just that. If you have something to say, say it outright.
December 19th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
“Sherri said matter of factly that ron paul was also a gynocologist after someone mentioned he disagreed with huckabees christmas commericals”
This is my take. Gynocologist perform abortions. Sherri is anti choice. She probably believes Paul is pro choice.
I don’t remember his specific stance on pro choice except that he believes Roe vs. Wade should be done away with and that pro choice rights should be a state issue. But Paul is a Libertian so he thinks everything should be a state issue.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
New Linda Says:
“This is my take. Gynocologist perform abortions. Sherri is anti choice. She probably believes Paul is pro choice. ”
When RP was on the View, he stated he is anti-abortion and does not believe abortions should be performed.
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/View_hosts_grill_Paul_on_abortion_1204.html
I really don’t know what Sherri’s comment had to do with what they were discussing today.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:32 pm
PRIOR POST: I don’t remember his specific stance on pro choice except that he believes Roe vs. Wade should be done away with and that pro choice rights should be a state issue. But Paul is a Libertian so he thinks everything should be a state issue.
Actually, there are significant number of pro-choice people, and non-Libertarians, who also think abortion is a state-rights issue. If you think abortion is a medical issue, then it should be a state’s right issue. Medical care is left to the states. If you think abortion is a criminal matter - the killing of a human being - then it should be a state’s right issue (unless committed on federal land).
Many think the penumbra is a legal fiction requiring making a pretzel of the constitution. One could approve of the substance of Roe v. Wade and yet think it is jurisdictionally or procedurally wrong.
The problem with abortion being a constitutional “right,” is that, like Jim Crow Laws, and segregation, the Supreme Court can overturn Roe v. Wade and declare it illegal, and can thereby make abortion illegal nation-wide. If it’s a state issue, the Constitution doesn’t apply.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:32 pm
Thanks for the link. It reinforced my dislike for Ron Paul.
In it he states that pro choice is a state issue and the federal government shouldn’t be involved. It’s obvious in the video he’s not a fan of pro choice, but it seems that he will leave it up to the states to decide what they will do.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
“Actually, there are significant number of pro-choice people, and non-Libertarians, who also think abortion is a state-rights issue.”
My comment didn’t state that only Libertarians believe it’s a state issue.
“The problem with abortion being a constitutional “right,”
I’ll take my chances. As of now, every woman/girl in America has the pro choice law on her side.
If the time comes when we have to fight for pro choice state rights, then we’ll do that. But for right now, the law is looking pretty good to me.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
I love Alicia Keys too, I just wish she would come out of the closet….along with Queen Latifah, Ricky Martin, Ryan Seacrest, Clay Aiken etc…. The young gays deserve some role models.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
I just watched the Ron Paul link and I would love for him to win! I saw him when he appeared on the View (but missed half of the interview) and liked what I heard. Now that I’ve heard it all, I think he is the most intelligent and logical candidate. Why did Whoopi think she knew more about the law than he? I wonder if he is anti-death penalty too? I like that he is anti-war. It would be nice to have a civilized president that is anti-killing in general. The only problem with Ron Paul is that he is religious (according to Wiki), but so is EVERY other candidate. Will we ever have an atheist/agnostic president? I wish.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
Because she did…the abortion procedure he was talking about when she made the comment is banned.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
New Linda, I just googled a bunch and if I were more computer savvy I could provide links. I found that the ban does nothing but provide obstacles or just changes the type of procedure done for third trimester abortions. At least 5 states still allow them in the third trimester as of December 2007. Other articles stated “partial birth abortion” is legally a vague term and can still be performed. I think Ron Paul being a gynecologist and ten-term Congressman knows a lot more about abortion law than Whoopi. She wasn’t even absolutely positive her statement was true when she said it.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
BTW.. Ron Paul WAS a gynocolist in his prior profession. I dont think Sherry’s commnet has to do with his stance on abortion but trying to be funny. (meaning, he was a gyno running for pres..)
December 19th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
oops.. gynocologist.. sorry peeps..
December 19th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
As I understood the video, Paul was talking about partial birth abortions (that is banned) when Whoopi made her comment.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:06 pm
“Sherry’s commnet has to do with his stance on abortion but trying to be funny. (meaning, he was a gyno running for pres..)”
sherri needs to work on her jokes…her “white people” stories are much better.
i didn’t watch the show and was talking out of my _____…and now i stirred up an abortion thread…which wasn’t my intention at all.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:23 pm
First, I want to see I really appreciate Winnie for posting these recaps. I am asking this out of ignorance, but when Winnie says that she will post the recaps later that night, I never see them. Are they posted somewhere else and I do not see them, or does she not do it? Thanks for the help.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:28 pm
chit i did it again, i dont think it was regarding abortion.. sorry peeps.. i type to fast without reading.. just a funny that he was a gyno.. my bad
December 19th, 2007 at 8:28 pm
Sometimes she posts them and other times she doesn’t. To get a glimpse of today’s show go to the the view’s official website at abc. hope that helps.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:33 pm
yeah usually the official website doesn’t show the good stuff lol. But thanks for the info!
December 19th, 2007 at 8:44 pm
Erika, Whoopie didnt act as if she new more than Ron Paul on abortion, but Ron Paul is misleading us with his vague comments. “Would you like to see a healthy 8 pound fetus aborted?” Well we are not allowed to do that. Roe vs Wade was very clear on when you can abort a baby in the last trimester. Now partial abortion is now banned. Whoopie was right when she said that was illegal and Ron said.. yes ur correct. So he is misleading. Roe vs Wade gave woman the rights to have an abortion unconditionally within the first trimester, the remaining pregnancy had certain conditions. So he was DEAD wrong in what he said. Whoopi called him out on it. He also made comment that the law should be out of your home but you cant kill your child in your home.. wtf does that mean?? he is very misleading.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:44 pm
My take on the gyno. comment…
Joy was mentioning how Ron Paul had quoted Sinclair Lewis saying “When facism comes to this country it will be wrapped in the flag carrying a cross” (perhaps not the usual Republican stance) and Sherri responded (as a joke I think) “he’s also a gynocologist, too, so…”
My impression was that maybe she was joking that he’s not THAT conservative or republican or whatever if he’s comfortable being a gyno.?
What do you think?
December 19th, 2007 at 8:49 pm
I thought Alicia was great! She’s so well spoken - it’s nice to see a 20-something like that.
Lisa, I thought she had a boyfriend?
December 19th, 2007 at 9:09 pm
Aileen, thanks for your comments. I refrained from delving into the numerous times he was misleading because the post was going to turn into a dissertation.
Megan, I just watched the video. Your theory totally rocks. Much better than mine!
December 19th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
Allyson: the recap for today is up. When I post that the recap will be up later that night, I do have every intention of doing so, but I admit I have slacked a bit. I still owe you all last Wednesday and then Th-Fr from a couple of weeks ago.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
“I thought Alicia was great! She’s so well spoken - it’s nice to see a 20-something like that.
Lisa, I thought she had a boyfriend?”
Yes Megan, I believe Alicia Keys does have a boyfriend. He is a music producer Kerry “Krucial” Brothers.

Personally, I don’t think it is fair for someone to define another person’s sexual orientation.
On another note, how did I miss talking about the major issue in Hollywood today involving Britney Spears’ little sister Jamie Lynn Spears and her pregnancy.
My heart sunk when I heard about this because she such a nice little girl with a cute show on Nickelodeon and bright future. Now she’s having a baby at sixteen. I am so concerned that she may follow her sister’s path.
I do feel sorry for Britney Spears because of her father being somewhat out of touch which may have led her to be astray. Now her little sister Jamie is making babies young.
I thought it was humorous when Joy made an analogous comment on today’s show about Britney and Jamie’s mom Ms. Lynne Spears’ writing a book about parenting is like Jeffrey Dahmer writing a book about food. It looks like she is delaying the release of the book. Possibly due to this incident.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071220/ap_en_ce/people_lynne_spears_4
But seriously, I really hope Jamie Lynn can stay grounded despite this serious choice.
December 19th, 2007 at 10:39 pm
thanks so much winnie!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 3:23 am
New Linda.. I bow down with humbleness.. np whench..
December 20th, 2007 at 5:37 am
“but Ron Paul is misleading us with his vague comments. “Would you like to see a healthy 8 pound fetus aborted?”
I didn’t know much about Ron Paul before this show and I was stunned when he ignorantly said this! I felt at that moment he is probably more dangerous than many in his party, at least we know where most of them stand!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:27 am
“I do feel sorry for Britney Spears because of her father being somewhat out of touch which may have led her to be astray. Now her little sister Jamie is making babies young.”
Ken, when we become adults we are responsible for our own actions. Britney was an adult when she became pregnant. She has had more opportunities than most people her age. As far as her sister goes, she was living with her much older boyfriend, that she met at church. It’s not surprising that she would end up pregnant. That one I can blame on her parents, because she is just a child. Who in their right mind would let their 16 year old child move in with a guy?
December 20th, 2007 at 7:52 am
Ken….I’m not defining anything…it’s common knowledge in the gay community who’s gay and who has pretend “girlfriends” or “boyfriends”……..
December 20th, 2007 at 8:59 am
Methinks Ken is working for “The View” or one of it’s hosts. His posts are the only ones in cyberspace that are consistently positive. There was a post by a Sherri Shepherd on the reality blog that said we don’t have it right about backstage antics, so who knows?? It would be good investigative work to see what is being said each day and to try and spin it positive! So rock on Ken!:)
So I will add…I am not watching again after January 7 when “you know who” blusters in!
December 20th, 2007 at 9:10 am
All the attention on Spears being pregnant disgusts me. I went to CNN.com today and it was the LEADING story on the page…absolutely disgusting. How is this the main focus of our society? When did we get so celebrity driven? I mean who cares if Spears is pregnant? Why is it worth all this attention. And the fact that $1 million dollars is being paid for a photo shoot with baby when it comes out is disgraceful. We have soldiers coming back from war that are not getting medical attention, we have people dying because they don’t have medical coverage…but we can spend a million dollars on baby pictures for some pathetic celebrity. And it’s not the celebrity that disgusts me, its the people buying the magazines and tuning in to the TV shows about it that are to blame. They create the demand. But we’ve reached an all time low if this is what makes CNN’s leading story. They just entered Joke News in my book, no longer credible for me. This country is going to sh*t.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:38 am
ShannonP ,
‘
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I agree 100 percent. I’ve often said that, the press is supposed to be the eyes, ears and the voice of the American people. Instead they’ve become dictation experts for this corrupt administration. What happened to asking tough questions, using commonsense, looking at things from their own point of view without being intimated by these crooks in the White House. They’re too busy distracting us with stories on: Dancing With the Stars and other frivolous nonsense.
“So I will add…I am not watching again after January 7 when “you know who” blusters in!”
Dee, I’m with you. EH has made me kick my View habit and I will no longer watch when she returns.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:40 am
“Methinks Ken is working for “The View” or one of it’s hosts. ”
Very interesting theory.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:02 am
ShannonP,
all I can say to your post is
AMEN!!!!!!!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 11:25 am
Dee,
Thanks for the encouragement!
I am totally honest that I don’t have any affiliation for “The View” or ABC whatsoever. I’m really truthful.
I tend to take the positive side for “The View” because I believe that voice needs to be heard. I think it is always fun to debate and share another side of the story. Most of the comments out there can be really critical (not that’s anything wrong with that because I certainly believe the co-hosts who read message boards like this one benefit from constructive criticism) But I realize that these co-hosts are human too. I think it is always great to strike a balance.
I’m not always super nice.
I remember a few weeks ago I wrote about Sherri making too much jokes about her boobs stretching out her T-Shirts and saying that she needs to contribute more to hot topics by sharing viewpoints relevant to viewers’ lives.
My words might have gotten to her and she is now stating more of her view.
I just think Sherri needed to be steered in the right direction because it was a new show for her. Sometimes I think constructive criticism can be more effective than ripping someone apart IMO.
That’s why I like Sherri a lot she seems like a receptive “sponge”, willing to improve and so lovable. I wish the best for her. Unlike a pompous arrogant self-centered, self-serving snob TV personality who doesn’t care about a fan. That’s why I believe Sherri was speaking from the heart when she debated with Whoopi with her point about giving fans autographs.
I don’t think “The View” is really a bad of a television show, I like the format and the segments are so polished, fast-paced, interesting and exciting. I think there are worst television shows out there. Thanks to the beautiful iconic Barbara Walters who has paved the way for women of all kinds on television. Eventhough BW can be annoying sometimes…LOL
I’m eternally reverent to Babs and her show.
So I tend to accentuate the positive a lot of “The View” because it is such an interesting show IMO.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
#61, I agree with you about 100%
#64, I also happen to agree with this. I don’t watch CNN, or any other news station.
There are absolutely far more important things that need the attention of our media and NEED to be reported and talked about. thank God for computers where i can find out and read about the far more important and serious issues in our country and elsewhere.
#68, I always enjoy reading your positive post. I feel as well it is nice to hear and read both sides, positive along with the negative.

sorry for the duplicate, I had trouble posting the first one.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
Thank you Sandy!
You are so sweet.
December 21st, 2007 at 9:41 am
If Sandy and I can agree on something…There’s hope for the rest of the world. LOL! I’m kidding Sandy
I enjoy reading your post even if we don’t always see eye to to eye. You make me think.
December 21st, 2007 at 9:54 am
ken, i’m on a sugar high…six smilies in post #68 and two smilies in post #72 (and that post only had six words)
December 22nd, 2007 at 3:22 pm
Rainlille,
Likewise, you have made me think many times.
