The View December 1st Recap: Randy Jackson and Kristin Chenoweth

by Winnie McCarthy

The first half hour of The View today was preempted by President Elect Barack Obama’s press conference to announce his national security team. As a result, I have no idea what they talked about during the hot topics segment. Those of you who live in Canada or other areas not affected by the press conference, please let the rest of us know in the comments what the hosts talked about. (Thanks!)

I was not able to watch the guest portion, so that means I really have nothing to report there, either. Today’s scheduled guests are Randy Jackson and Kristin Chenoweth.

  1. June Says:

    Hi Winnie,

    I saw the interviews.

Randy was on to promote his book, I think was called You Plan is about health. He talked about his type 2 diabetis and having gastric bipass to reduce his wieght quickly. BW asked why he couldn’t just do it the old fashioned way, diet and exercise, because not everyone can have gastric bipass. He told her he tried and lost about 50 but needed quicker results because of his diabetis.
They asked him if the new jusdge of AI was there so they could phase out Paula. He said no, don’t believe everything you hear and read. They also asked how Paula was doing after that fan commited suicide outside her house. He said she was ok. He added that Paula was scheduled to come on the View in a couple weeks and they could ask her. They also asked about Simon Cowell giving his ex a house and millions (or something), he could not confirm or deny and said Simon hadn’t talked about it.

They also played the “Jumping Jack Flash” clip again because Randy played guitar in it.

Kristen Chenoweth talked about the movie she is in “Four Christmases.” Not much noteworthy except she said Vince Vaughn really did almost throw up during the filming of the sceene in the promo. They briefly discussed Pushing Up Daisies getting cancelled. Kristen thought it had alot to do with the writer’s stike and her show being new did not bounce back as quickly as others.

During the wrap-up Whoopie announced that Oprah’s show today would be all about BW and her book! *I refuse to name that book!*

But BW gushed thank you, thank you, after Whoopi mentioned it!

  2. Carolyn Says:

The first part of today’s show was kinda light and fun as they all talked ( except BW) about what they had done over the holiday.

Whoopie expressed condolences about the Wal*Mart employee who was trampled on Friday and the people involved in the Mumbai massacre.

Whoopi and EH “competed” ( light-heartedly) about which one had cooked the best turkey and good old Joy piped in “my turkey voted Obama”.

Whoopi mentioned about BW interview with the Obamas last Wed night and there was a clip about Barrack cleaning lipstick off Michelle’s tooth.

There was no real HOT topics and no hot comments.. nice start back into the week.
    ——————————-

From my own perspective, I think Obama made a HUGE choice in picking Hillary to work WITH him.
I believe she will be superb and I also believe Obama when he say they both have the same agenda as far as elevating the world’s opinion of and dealings with the US.

  3. rainlillie Says:

    Thanks June,
The way BW keeps pushing her book, you’d think she’s hard up for cash.

  4. Elsie Says:

Is this the same book she promoted, on ‘Oprah’and amongst other shows, a few months ago? Is it now coming out on paperback, and includes new juicy tidbits? I missed that on the show. Oh, well.

  5. Julianne Says:

I was really looking forward to what everyone was going to say about “Hot Topics” today. Bitsy was her usual ignorant self. She stated that her kids didn’t get baths “for 3 days” but her turkey looked great. I think it was a feeble attempt at a joke, but she doesn’t have to continue to tell me how disinterested in her kids she is, and then claim that she loves being a mom.

EH also said that she went shopping down 5th Avenue on Black Friday and took Grace to FAO Schwarz at 7 pm. She clearly didn’t get that Grace is a child who will want something from a toy store. Babs pointed out that Bitsy “tempted” Grace by taking her in the store.

They also talked about Sherri and her ex being able to sleep in the same room and not get physical with each other.

It was kinda boring today but I was interested in what everyone’s take would be.

  6. mom2ck Says:

oprah’s show today is not new. I think it is a rerun from when the book first came out.

  7. Elsie Says:

Yeah, I forgot about EH saying how the turkey got brined, but the kid did not get a bath. Obviously, that was an attempt at a joke. They do have nannies, don’t they? And Grace throwing a tantrum?! FAOS is tempting to tots.

  8. MiamiVision Says:

How does one bring a 3 y/o into ANY toy store and not let them buy something, anything? Geesh…great parenting EH, N_O_T.

    ————————–

Meanwhile, I realized that the View is now being videotaped, being shown videotaped. For the past 5 shows, the words don’t line up with the hosts mouths at least for about 5-10 minutes each day during HT. I saw the camera panning the audience videotaping today and in a very jerky fashion.

ABC did this a couple of years ago to AMC (All My Children) and the quality of the videotaping was so poor that I quit watching my long-time ABC soap(s). (maybe by now that has gotten better?)

Now that they appear to be doing the same thing to The View (and for what purpose might I ask? just a curious question…may be easier for editing) they are going to lose me too.

Oh well, I have already written in my comment to the contact us link at their website to express my opinion. Nothing will change, that’s a given.

But there is always this great WatchingTheView blog here and thanks Winnie for that!!

    Y’all have a good week!!

  9. Beverly Says:

I just had to turn off BW on Oprah (too much yelling at the TV) … she is such a freaking hypocrite! After making the strong and pointed statement (Lady!) about how the former View panelists should just get on with their lives blah blah blah, how does she go on Oprah and sit there reliving all of the dirty laundry without her subjects being there to defend themselves? So unfair. All in the name of book pedaling??? Ratings? Barbara Walters is simply pathetic! I’m done w/this show.

Thank you Winnie for your great work w/this blog. I’ve really appreciated You Watching So I Don’t Have To :) Bye All.

  10. Fran Says:

Beverly, you do realize that this was a repeat from about 8 months ago, right? This did not happen AFTER the ‘lady!’ speech to Rosie.

However, I agree she cannot tell anyone not to talk about their experiences when she does a whole freakin’ ‘kiss and tell’ book.

  11. Elsie Says:

That’s what I didn’t get about OW’s show. The way WG made the announcement, and the way BW’s very enthuciastic ‘thank you, thank you, thank you!!’, made me think that perhaps BW’s book was now on paperback or something.

  12. diane10 Says:

I have a serious problem with BW promoting her ridiculous book at every opportunity. It is a book about her many affairs. I’d rather read a Dr. Seus book.

I stopped watching OW a long time ago.
