The View February 2nd Recap: A Day of Hot Topics

by

day-of-hot-topicsToday on The View, all five hosts were present. The first topic was the Super Bowl. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that she was really watching because Tim was with the Cardinals last year. She loved it and thought it was a good time. Sherri Shepherd thought Larry Fitzgerald run was amazing. Barbara Walters said it was the kind of game you see in the movies, even if you don’t like sports. Joy Behar went to a Super Bowl party and gained five pounds.

Then they talked about the commercials. Whoopi liked the E-trade commercial with the babies, which they played a clip from. She also liked the cash for gold commercial with MC Hammer and Ed McMahon, which they also played. Her favorite was the Career Builder commercial.

Barbara liked the one where the guy threw the ball and hit his boss in the crotch.

Whoopi thought the GoDaddy commercials with Danica Patrick were weird. Whoopi incorrectly called GoDaddy an “employment website.” Sherri said that sex sells.

Whoopi thought Bruce Springsteen “tore it up” during the halftime show. Barbara said that he is still sexy. Joy said that rockers never retire.

Michael Phelps is in trouble because of pictures that were published show him smoking pot from a bong. Whoopi said that he is a kid, so it doesn’t surprise her. Elisabeth said that he is making millions of dollars off endorsements and he is a role model for children. She said that if he takes a drug that would impede his skill, would he then take something to help his performance? Joy said that are you saying that marijuana is now going to lead to steroids? She said you have been saying for years it would lead to heroin and that is not true either. Sherri wonders if they will be looking into the legal issue of his smoking marijuana, the way they did with Plaxico Burress and the gun.

Whoopi said that she has smoked weed and she understands. She said that he admitted he made a mistake. Elisabeth said that there needs to be consequences for his mistakes. Barbara said that is being paid millions of dollars to be a role model. Whoopi said that he is being paid to be a spokesman and that is different than being a role model. Whoopi said that if he thought someone was taking his picture, he would not have done it. Sherri said that he had a DUI in the past and needs to be looking at the fact that kids are looking up to him. Whoopi said that is “a lot of damn pressure to put on someone.” Elisabeth said that he can handle pressure. She said that there is a responsibility that comes with his endorsements. Joy said that he needs to stop or he will be swimming with the fishes.

Rod Blagojevich was removed from office on Thursday. Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at his appearance on The View. They played a clip of the Kimmel segment which focused on his hair. Joy said that it is not a wig, it was his real hair. Then they talked about whether he really has a special brush.

Rush Limbaugh and President Obama are “in a war of words.” Barbara said that Obama made his comments privately to a group of Republicans to try to explain that both sides need to be working together. She wants to know why Rush Limbaugh is now the leader of the Republican party. Joy said there is a vacuum. She said that Limbaugh did not say after 9/11 that he wanted Bush to fail in Iraq. Elisabeth said that is because he believed in his policy. Joy said that saying he wants the president to fail is unpatriotic. Sherri said that you cannot separate Obama from the country, because for the country to succeed, Obama must succeed. Elisabeth disagreed, saying that plenty of people wanted Bush to fail. She also thinks that if Republicans are not supposed to listen to Limbaugh, the Democrats should not rely on Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann. Barbara said that the Democrats are not relying on those people the way that Republicans are relying on Limbaugh. Joy said that Limbaugh makes millions for his hate speech and vitriol and there are many people who are without a job and broke. She said that Limbaugh is out of touch with how things really are for people . Elisabeth said, “Why do you say that?” Joy said that to call the stimulus package socialism shows where his head is at. Elisabeth said that the stimulus package is a joke and no one is getting jobs out of it.

Limbaugh also said that we are being told we have to bend over and take it because Obama is the first black president and we should want him to succeed for that reason. Whoopi said she wants Obama to succeed not because he is the first Black president, but because she is sick of seeing what is happening in the country, which is affecting wealthy people and those that don’t have a pot to piss in. Barbara said that she also drew the line at that comment. Elisabeth said that he has the right to say all of the comments that he said.

Barbara went to a the Alfalfa Club dinner in Washington, DC. It is just for fun and doesn’t raise any money. She said that the president was there, Sarah Palin, Michael Bloomberg, and more. Barbara thought that Michelle Obama looked beautiful and she asked about Elisabeth, which she thought was interesting, given their differences. Elisabeth said that they had a nice conversation. Joy said, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”

Barbara also spoke with Sarah Palin at the dinner, who was very gracious. Palin was sitting next to Barbara Bush and she has no idea what they talked about for two hours. Obama was sitting next to Chief Justice Roberts and Senator Lieberman, who she said was quite funny. He joked that he wanted to be Vice-President so badly and that he was as close to it as Alaska is to Russia. Barbara said that Palin laughed at the jokes about her. (Barbara’s recitation of the party was horribly boring for the most part. I guess you had to be there).

The View will be airing live from Burbank, California from March 9th-13th. It is sponsored by Big Lots, so I am sure there will be a “fun” segment where Whoopi shops at Big Lots like she did at Walgreens last year when they went to Las Vegas. I hope the California trip is better than the Vegas trip, which was pretty awful.

It is Black History Month and Whoopi wondered why it is the shortest months; only 28 days, like a period.

Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter.

John Ziegler was on to talk about his documentary which alleges that the liberal media got Barack Obama elected by making Sarah Palin look bad. Barbara said that Palin made mistakes in interviews and had Obama made those mistakes things would have been different. In his documentary, Palin talks about all the mis-perceptions about her. Whoopi said that the media was very hard on Hillary Clinton and asked him if he would make a film about her. He agrees that Clinton was “done wrong” by the media and Bill Clinton is one of the heroes of his film. He said that Palin is not whining in his interview.

Whoopi said that if you go back and look how things were during the Clinton administration, you will see that his family was treated poorly. Ziegler said that Chelsea was not treated as badly as Bristol Palin. Joy said, “Chelsea didn’t get pregnant.” Elisabeth said that they were horrible to Palin’s family and Palin herself because she had governed so well in Alaska and they needed to focus on something negative. Whoopi said that when you are putting the family out there, they are fair game. Elisabeth said that Obama’s children should not be fair game, even if he puts them out there.

Joy said that Palin’s interview in front of the turkeys being slaughtered shows her bad judgment. Ziegler said that was after the election. At one point, Joy asked if she could finish a sentence because Ziegler was talking over her. Elisabeth told her to calm down. Palin thinks that if she were Obama’s running mate that she would have been portrayed differently. Barbara and Joy said disagreed. Ziegler said, “You are absolutely wrong.” Barbara said that “we aren’t absolutely wrong, we just disagree with you.”

Elisabeth said that if we are talking about judgment, we should talk about appointing cabinet members that haven’t paid their taxes. Joy said we aren’t talking about them now. Elisabeth said that she is talking about that now. Joy said then why don’t we talk about the judgment of going into war in Iraq. Barbara was worried how Palin was going to treat her at the Alfalfa dinner because she saw the interview where she blamed the media. At the end of the segment, Joy said, “We won, okay!? We won!”

  1. susieq Says:

    Michael Phelps got caught being human. No one is perfect, not even Olympic athletes. His smoking weed is not going to cause kids that idolize him to suddenly take up the bong. And who didn’t know that Elisabeth would get all Preachy Prudence on us. Wonder how she sleeps at night with that halo over her head.

  2. rainlillie Says:

    I really can’t stand Sherri’s and TLB’s self righteous attitudes. Of course Michael Phelps shouldn’t smoke pot, but he’s young and he made a mistake. He can turn this positive into a negative by speaking out about it.

  3. rainlillie Says:

    susieq,
    We posted at the same time… Great minds!

  4. susieq Says:

    Hi, Rain.

    Is Elisabeth for real?????? She gets ear-fed her opinions directly from Sean Hannity and she’s on a high horse about people getting views from political commentators?

  5. berndoubt Says:

    Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!

    A person must be completely one-dimensional when I’ve never met them and I can predict EXACTLY what they will say.

    Democrats didn’t want Bush and the Republicans to fail. We wanted them to lead the country well. It’s hard to believe people who pretend that Bush was freely elected by a majority of the country. We were united behind him after 9/11, as was most of the rest of the world, but he managed to squander all of the good will he was given.

    It is absolutely not the same thing to want Bush to change his policies as it is to wish the president to fail, thereby causing the country to fail. In fact, anyone who criticized Bush’s policies was labelled as anti-patriotic. They can’t have it both ways. They just can’t.

  6. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Imagine that…. Whoopi is wrong

    Michael Phelps is paid to be a roll model…. that is why there is a “morals clause” in his contracts.

    Before his trouble started, if a child told his parent that he wanted to be like Michael Phelps, the parents would have thought that would have been a good thing. Now, not so much.

    It might not be right…. but that is how it is.

  7. susieq Says:

    Rush Limbaugh wanting Barack Obama to fail is unpatriotic. People who criticized Bush for the illegal and unjustfied things he did while in office was our Constitutional right to question our government. Apparently Elisabeth doesn’t like being on the other side looking in.

    Hi Bern.

  8. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #5 berndoubt–

    Democrats didn’t want Bush and the Republicans to fail.

    I wanted so bad for Joy to correct EH when she made that comment….. I supported Bush before he attacked other countries for no good reason.

    Bush has earned his criticism….. the right is criticizing President Obama because he won.

  9. berndoubt Says:

    I don’t understand how smoking pot turns into taking steroids in Elisabeth’s mind. I heard her words and I’m honestly trying to get the parallel, but it’s not there.

    Smoking pot is a recreational thing, just like drinking, as Joy said. So, would any athlete who drinks be willing to take steroids? Elisabeth just because you’ve slept with a failed athlete and played softball, doesn’t mean you understand all athletes. Smoking weed is something that shouldn’t be illegal, anymore than drinking is. Both are mind-altering substances. There are limits to who can drink alcohol and to operating a vehicle under the influence. Pot should be similarly regulated and not be illegal.

    Now, I’ll hang up and wait to be ripped to shreds for that VIEW.

  10. Roger from Ohio Says:

    *yawn*

    Another right wing nut case is on The View complaining about the press being in the tank for Barack Obama

  11. berndoubt Says:

    They all should have watched the documentary before the interview. This is the worst show ever.

  12. berndoubt Says:

    Clearly I’m not angry enough to be a Republican. They are mad when they’re in power, and they’re mad when they’re out of power.

    Elisabeth is telling Joy to calm herself down. Wow.

  13. susieq Says:

    If Sarah Palin had been a man, with the everything being the same, would we even still be discussing him?

    The reason Bristol Palin’s pregnancy was a story was HYPOCRISY. Sarah Palin only wanted abstinence taught in school and apparently her own daughter couldn’t abide by that.

    And let’s be clear, Barack Obama would never have chosen someone so underqualified to be his running mate.

    The only thing the media did was show Sarah Palin as who she really is.

  14. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Elisabeth had to protect and defend this guy…. any question he was asked, his answer was “watch the documentary”
    Barbara Walters ripped him up…… I loved how she kept pointing out that “you brought this clip to show” She said the problem was her handlers, you say it was the press.”
    His only answer was….. “watch the documentary”….. BW took it personally that he wanted to blame the press….. and then he told her she was wrong…. she took him to task for that too!!

    LMAO

  15. Kelly Says:

    This show is garbage.

    You can gift wrap that rotten fish in a low-cut, high-rise maternity dress - but its still rotting fish.

  16. berndoubt Says:

    CALM DOWN! said over and over in a screeching, frantic rhythm. The prosecution rests, Your Honor.

  17. SH Says:

    Why would I bother watching a documentary about Sarah Palin? Her nomination for the vice-presidency was nothing more than a gimmick.

  18. rainlillie Says:

    Palin is irrelevant! So was the media supposed to ignore the fact that the teenage daughter of a VP candidate was pregnant? Palin and her ilk needs to stop whining the election is over. IMO neither Clinton or Palin were mistreated by the media.

  19. Shirley*.* Says:

    Was that ugly or what?

    So YOU won. What did you win? Loudmouth of the year?

    They (you know who they are), are always so defensive and frightened about anyone telling the truth on that sorry show.

    Pathetic shrill harpeys Joy is the worst.

  20. kaytee Says:

    WOW! great topics today. First of all, in my humble opinion, yes, MP is getting paid to present a certain image. He is getting paid millions and millions to be the face of these companies and I am pretty sure he has a morals clause in those contracts. He was caught using an illegal substance. Its not the same as drinking, drinking isn’t illegal. I think he should be treated the same way they treat any athlete (mostly african american athletes when they get caught with their “young” toe crossing the legal line). Of course he is young and into partying, but that can be said about any of the young athletes that get into trouble. They are all young! But if you take money to present a clean cut image, then you should be made to maintain that image! The debate about whether pot should be legal or not had nothing to do with it. He was clearly and admitted to breaking the law! Winning 5o million gold medals and being the poster boy for the Olympics does not put you above the law. It wasn’t okay for that running back and its not okay for Micheal P.

  21. berndoubt Says:

    Explain Palin saying, before she entered the election, that Hillary Clinton just needed to get a thicker skin and not let what was said bother her, but then Palin complains about the media. Perhaps she had no idea what she was talking about when she “advised” Hillary Clinton…in which case she shows poor judgment and a lack of insight. Or, perhaps she was right and so shouldn’t have been surprised when the media asked questions of an unknown candidate that would be in line to be president of the United States. Either way, Sarah Palin, your fifteen minutes are officially up. Now sit down and be quiet!

  22. rainlillie Says:

    The media has been in the tank for the corrupt Bush administration for 8 years. How else were they able to take us to war, torture people, have a record number of signing statements, spy and wiretap… The list goes on and on.

  23. kaytee Says:

    I love the way Barbara told him no I’m not wrong, I just have different opinion or we disagree or something like that.

  24. KV Says:

    This show is horrible now. I dont want to watch a show where I see women yelling at each other daily, Joy makes my stomach turn when she talks, well yells, she can not talk to Elizabeth in a normal voice. And Elizabeth just has to fight against everyone to speak. Ok Obama won, I did not put him there but lets yell about it in a year or two when we see what change is made. This man could not speak much less tell about his Documentary.

  25. kaytee Says:

    But also, I don’t agree with Elizabeth about there being a connection to using steriods. I understand what she is saying, I just do not agree, and don’t think it should have been brought up in connection with Micheal’s name.

  26. rg13 Says:

    I think The View just proved this guys point hands down about the media being in a blind love-fest with Obama. They couldn’t even be quiet long enough to let him present his points. Obama may have won, but there is still 49% of us who want to see him actually do something productive instead spout the rhetoric. The only reason Palin was attacked so brutally was the fact that she was a threat.

  27. kaytee Says:

    Berndoubt #20 very good point. I liked when whoopi brought that out.

  28. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #18 rainlillie–

    So was the media supposed to ignore the fact that the teenage daughter of a VP candidate was pregnant?

    great point rainlillie, and lets not forget….. the BREAKING NEWS about her daughter’s pregnancy came directly from Sarah herself.

  29. Stacee Says:

    berndoubt Says: “Either way, Sarah Palin, your fifteen minutes are officially up”

    MY RESPONSE: Nope, it will never be up. Not when she has media and gives interviews about how unfairly she was being treated. Not when you have someone like Ziegler making documentaries of said subject. And especially not when you book the person who made the documentary on the show, to promoting the ‘poor Palin pity party’.

  30. wendee Says:

    There is so much hypocrisy…… Michael Phelps should not smoke pot but its ok for Bristol Palin to be pregnant. Rush Limbaugh can say anything he wants, but democrats can’t. Rush Limbaugh was hooked on oxycotin, , maybe that then means he is a liar and would resort to other lies, so how can we believe anything that comes out of his mouth? And the Bush stimulus package was ok, but Obama’s is not? I don’t get it.

  31. Stacee Says:

    FROM THE RECAP: “Elisabeth disagreed, saying that plenty of people wanted Bush to fail. She also thinks that if Republicans are not supposed to listen to Limbaugh, the Democrats should not rely on Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann. ”

    MY RESPONSE: Newsflash to the Bits: Democrats do not RELY on Keith Olbermann or Chris Matthews. DUHHHH! But I really think her comment shows where her head is at. Especially when you have someone like Hannity and Gedde spoon feeding you daily talking points :roll:

  32. Shirley*.* Says:

    all of your posters are of the same opinion.

    whats THAT about.

  33. lilkunta Says:

    What was the big announcement of 2day’s show?

    I wonder if Eh ’s Tim has ever smoked marij or pot or used a bong or anything else?

  34. Sarah Says:

    Documentary guy (can’t remember his name) is exhibit A in why the Republicans are currently out of power - and most likely will be for quite a while - they are not taking the time to reflect on what they did wrong and what can be improved upon next time. Instead, they are throwing a series of two-year-old temper tantrums in which they blame everyone but themselves. They are also trying to have it both ways - they want to use their own “folksiness” to get elected but then don’t want anyone to hold that against them, they want to parade their children around to try to get the mothers on their side but then don’t want to be judged for their parenting, they want to insult everyone on the left but then don’t expect anyone to be turned off by their insults.

    I realize as I’m saying this that it’s not all Republicans that are doing this - I hate lumping all people together - but the ones who are currently yelling the loudest are not doing their party any favors. They’re making their party look like a bunch of immature whiners who have no powers of self-reflection. Every time I hear a Republican whining about the liberal media (which is laughable because the media is corporate owned primarily by Republicans), and sexism, and classism being to blame for McCain and Palin losing I just think to myself, “Keep it up - 2010 is coming fast - and with an attitude like that you’re going to lose even more seats.”

    The McCain/Palin ticket lost because the American people were looking for hope and answers - and we got neither from them - all we got from them was an endless string of insults for the other side, pathetic attempts at being folksy, complete disregard for working class people, and more lies than I’ve ever heard out of any political camp.

  35. kaytee Says:

    I cannot believe that ANYONE still takes Sarah Palin serious. She has got to be the biggest republican hypocrite out there.

  36. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #23 kaytee–

    I just do not agree, and don’t think it should have been brought up in connection with Micheal’s name.

    That is the tactic of Elisabeth….. she will try and destroy someone’s life to prove a point….. Olympic athletic = steroids…. Presidential candidate = terrorist/socialist….. didnt she even equate a peanutbutter sandwich to serial killer?

    you dont need facts to be part of her club….. u just need to SHOUT speculation…. and if anyone disagrees then shout louder and interrupt them.

  37. kaytee Says:

    Biggest hipocrite besides Elizabeth, as Wendee points out in #27!

  38. Debra Says:

    I agree with Joy that Rush Limbaugh is vicious and that Elisabeth needs to be reminded of that. Does anybody remember when he called a very young Chelsea Clinton “ugly”? What political good did that serve? He only wants to divide the country.

  39. Stacee Says:

    FROM THE RECAP: “Elisabeth said that he has the right to say all of the comments that he said.”

    Did she sound as whiny and immature as this reads?
    Of course he has the right to say it. Who said he couldn’t?
    Why the Repubs is bowing down to someone like Limbaugh is the question. Talk about being a Messiah and bending over, they do so to him!

    I think the words above and her seeming to agree with him show the type of person she is. And I’m not surprised.

  40. rainlillie Says:

    “Democrats do not RELY on Keith Olbermann or Chris Matthews.”

    Great Point, Stacee.

    ” I really think her comment shows where her head is at.”

    Yes Stacee, it’s been up there for awhile now… LOL!

  41. Laura Says:

    Barbara is so much smarter than Elisabeth - IMO. I’m sure this has a lot to do with age and experience, but I don’t ever remember her going off like Elisabeth does. EH was tightly wound at the beginning of the show. She is having a hard time with “losing”. It is that softball-Survivor mentality.

  42. kaytee Says:

    Yeah I thought that was very irresponsible if not boarder line slander to put the word steroids and Michael P’s name in the same sentence. What was she thinking? With all of the abuse of steroids by athletes, why do that when he has had nothing to do with steroids. That was just stupid. You can’t just make public assumptions like that, that is how you ruin a person’s image, althought he is well on his way to doing that himself.

  43. rainlillie Says:

    TLB is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel when she has to defend a pill popper like Rush and a guy who makes lame movies. As Bern says, and the Faux Joy says ” COME ON! WHO CARES!”

  44. rainlillie Says:

    I loved it when Joy yelled “WE WON!”

  45. Sandy Says:

    Thanks Winnie,
    always appreciate your recaps.

    I did see the View today, and enjoyed it.

    Congratulations To the Steelers. I am not really a football fan, but did watch the game with my husband, who was for Arizona.
    I liked the E-Trade commercial best.

    Michael Phelps,..Whether I think it was a wise thing to do or not, ..I probably would have expressed the same thoughts as Whoopi did.
    He’s human, young, and is expected to make some mistakes. the important thing is that he learns from them.

    Rush Limbaugh,.. I’m just now beginning to get up to date on this topic.
    I though each host made a few good points.
    My personal feelings are that this has gotten more hype, than it really calls for.
    Above anything else, I feel that, the black President comment, was way out of line.

    Media Bias, and the documentary about Gov. Palin….
    I do believe that there was media bias, favoring President Obama.
    Not necessarily Liberal Bias, so much. My thoughts are that the media, ..reporters and journalist have over the past decade or so become more relaxed in expressing their personal bias, especially in written articles, and by commentators.
    As for Gov. Palin, whom I have nothing against, I think she certainly wasn’t the best at interviews. The fact is she did very poorly at them. You can’t blame the media for that.
    I do believe that some things published about her family were not necessary and negatively biased.

    Now I shall go back and read the comments, which I haven’t yet.

  46. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #34 rainlillie–

    ” I really think her comment shows where her head is at.”

    Yes Stacee, it’s been up there for awhile now… LOL!

    ROTFLMAO!!!

  47. Monica Says:

    berndoubt, susieq and roger…….you have all said it so well!!!! Thank You! Thank you!

    I am reeling from what just took place on the VIEW today. Everyone on the VIEW except Elizabeth…deserves an apology from that rude and arrogant man that was on….and Elizabeth was loving every bit of it apparently. She certainly owes Joy an apology as well!

    Thank you Barbara for correcting him when he said YOU ARE WRONG….and you said….no we simply have a different opinion. For him to say the people on the VIEW ruined Mrs. Palin is beyond absurd and….I would have to say she did quite well on her very own.

    There is no doubt Mrs. Palin is a beautiful woman….but McCain made a grave error when he over looked women who really were VP material in his own party.

    I am thankful for Whoopi and Joy….and although there are those who apparently have a problem with their views at times….I so appreciate their honesty.

    With freedom of speech comes responsibility and as far as I can see what happened today this man apparently wants to be another Rush Limbaugh. Don’t we have enough nay sayers already? If Mr. Limbaugh, who has been made mega wealthy by those who in great part live in fear and ignorance and find it comforting to have closed minds, really cared about those people he would be positive, he would rally the troops so to speak to come together for the common good…..but instead he has chosen hate speak and the question for many of us is WHY? And thank you Joy for your words about this man…they were on target!

    Most of us realize our country is in serious trouble….it was not of Obama’s making….yet so many seem so willing to place the blame ON him…..and if the masses expect him to wave a magic wand and make it all go away…..they need to look back over the past eight years and see what got us where we are today……and the yet to be born will bear unfairly the burdens of the decisions made long before Obama took office….

    Again, I would like to remind the viewers of a DVD that is well worth seeing….It is called Hacking Democracy….

    We all need to come together for the good of us all….we need to get along….we need jobs, a home for our families, medical care….surely the 10 billion dollars that is being spent on the war each month would go a long way in making these things a reality………and more than anything else I want PEACE for us all…..

  48. misslingdow Says:

    #29 Sarah spot on!! The reupbs have become a caricature of themselves. They need to make some serious cuts with the “right wing nutball” that bring them down– I broke with the repub’s after Bush stole office and I ain’t never going back!

    Michael Phelps– I heard the news this morning and thought yikes what is this kid doing/thinking and I thought an apology would be appropriate but then I read kaytee’s # 19 post and I agree totally with her post.

    I don’t think pot leads to steroids like the goofy blond chick (why is everything always so EXTREME– and DRAMATIC with her?

  49. susieq Says:

    ” I really think her comment shows where her head is at.”

    “Yes Stacee, it’s been up there for awhile now… LOL!”

    Rain, you beat me to it. Great minds.

    The fact that we are still discussing Sarah Palin proves she’s accomplishing her goal: keeping her name in the news. If that is who the Republicans want to lead their party, good for them. Obama should easily outdo is performance in this past election in 2012.

  50. kaytee Says:

    OMG, they are talking about Sarah Palin all over MSNBC. I am so done with her.
    But I loved the President saying that he was surprised to see her there (at the washington dinner party) palling around with this crew!
    Ha! I called it here last week when I first heard she was going there. I could not believe that she was going to washington to pal around with Obama!

  51. Stacee Says:

    #40 Monica : WELL SAID! Good post!

  52. kaytee Says:

    well said Monica

  53. Roger from Ohio Says:

    GO MONICA GO!!!

  54. rainlillie Says:

    “The fact that we are still discussing Sarah Palin proves she’s accomplishing her goal: keeping her name in the news. If that is who the Republicans want to lead their party, good for them. Obama should easily outdo is performance in this past election in 2012.”

    ITA!

  55. mibi Says:

    I did not see The show however it sounds like fustrating one. I never wanted bush to fail and during the olypic i was proud to see him representing for america, there is diff between critizing a issue and just noise for noise sake. someone said the repubs are just mad obama is more concern with rush than the repubs on the hill. palin and this documentry person are irrelevent.

    phleps if he has moral cluases will lose endorsment adn that will be his pubishment. done. why do people idolize people wholife they dont know. all you can say about a talented person is they are good at x and if your work hard at x like they did thats great. but that does not make them a role model outside of there talent. yoou dont know there life so you can be disapointed

  56. rainlillie Says:

    Sandy,

    According to all the date I’ve read McCain got more favorable coverage than Obama.

    You can check this out at a website called fairness and accuracy in reporting. I also don’t recall the media saying anything bad about Palin’s children other than the fact that her teen daughter was pregnant.

  57. Kelly Says:

    Salon:

    The very notion of the “Liberal Media” is one of the most inane myths in American politics — something spat out and repeated in the lowest right-wing sewers for so long that it has become conventional wisdom — but Halperin’s frequent vouching for that myth, in his role of “journalist,” illustrates all one needs to know about him. The media’s contempt for both John Kerry and Al Gore was matched only by their reverence for George Bush’s swagger. The first several months of media coverage this year was dominated by Jerimiah Wright, lapel pins, bowling scores, Bittergate and elitism. And it is highly unlikely that there has even been a time in American history when the media was as subservient to Government as they were during the Bush era. It’s literally hard to imagine a claim that ought to be more discredited in general than the notion of the “liberal media” and its “anti-Republican bias.”

    AND BY THE WAY - Rush is paid $400MILLION by Clear Channel - a member of the Mainstream Media, AKA Drive-by media that he so despises.

    THE TRUTH HAS A LIBERAL BIAS - Deal with it Elisabeth.

    Kelly,

    Palin and McCain got negative coverage, because they ran a negative campaign.

  60. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #55 mibi–

    all you can say about a talented person is they are good at x and if your work hard at x like they did thats great. but that does not make them a role model outside of there talent.

    I totally disagree here….. Sports athletes are our roll models…. These people are in the news…. talked about, praised, turned into national heroes….. get paid the big bucks just for being a winner.
    When kids play games, they pretend to be their “heroes” they try and emulate these stars.

    When they are doing good, we call them roll models. Think about Michael Jordan…. Tiger Woods…. Larry Bird…. Reggie Jackson….. these were all “roll models” that didnt fall and show their “human side”
    Phelps was a roll model….. but he has been showing his human side, so now people want to say he never was one.

  61. susieq Says:

    In this day and age what is the definition of “morals clause”. Does it just mean illegal activity or immoral activity? And who decides? Smoking weed is mild compared to what other so-called “role models” have done. I have a lot less respect for athletes who use drugs to help them cheat than an athlete who used a drug recreationally.

  62. Sam the Man Says:

    Can’t believe thay guy saying that the media was behind Obama getting elected, seem to me that the media was behind whoever had a topic worth being talked about. I don’t think they were behind one specific person, they are like fisherman, they catch what they can. If Obama’s daughter was of age and pregnant it would have been much worse publicity, and you know it. Seem to me that John was out for something else, I got a bad feeling about him; smile in your face, but seem to be somewhat of a Hitler.

  63. Kelly Says:

    McCain/Palin got more negative press because they ran a negative campaign.

    Why doesn’t TLB want to talk about the real reason BUSH was elected twice? The media is not liberal; the media hid the truth about the Bush Administration for 8 years…just ask Dan Rather.

    Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a low-information failed shoe designer who now is an expert in the merits of the stimulus package?

    WOW – Barbara – you must be so proud of what your show has become.

    (thanks rain - I’ve got more - but I can’t keep up with the posts) :grin:

  64. Roger from Ohio Says:

    When Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg, he lost his endorsements. There are many great players on the field that are not put out there as “roll models” because of their actions off the field.

    Take Roger Clemens for example…. one of the most “loved” baseball players of all time… he was paid $21 million just for one year of service. Was a “shoe in” for the Hall of Fame.

    Then the steroid allegations came to light is he still a roll model?

    I do agree that smoking pot isnt that big of a thing….. but Michael Phelps isnt a normal person….. he is being paid to be bigger than life……. thats a long way to crash.

    If he didnt want to be a roll model…. he shouldnt have taken the money.

  65. kaytee Says:

    Okay, I know everyone has their own opinion on this, so this one is just mine. My hubby was an athlete, one that did it the right way. He’s a family man - no drugs or alcohol use, one of the many reasons I married him. But I do know that Elizabeth did have a point when she said that drugs used by athletes affect their bodies in one way or another. The drugs either enhance their performance or hinder it. Just ask Ricky Williams or Rashaan Salaam or many other athletes caught using pot. All I am saying is if its not right for some athletes, it shouldn’t be right for others.
    (I can’t believe I said that I agree with Elizabeth on anything!)

  66. Bill Says:

    “We” won. I’m a lifelong broadcaster and feel that commentary is stimulating but the use of “we” is foolish indeed. Is Joy including Disney Company in her “we”? Maybe ABC needs a disclaimer to air on this show.

    Irresponsible remarks like this may give more impetus to revival of the fairness doctrine.

  67. mibi Says:

    i agree roger they are roll models but i thinkjust because they are a good athlete or singer or actress they are perfect people and that all aspect of there life are roll modle worthy. they should take care to recognize that kid are looking at them but still to me there just people. i just my thing with roll models that you dont know personally.

  68. susieq Says:

    Companies hire people to sell their product. Carl’s Jr. hired Paris Hilton to sell their product. She ain’t no role model. If MP loses his endorsement deals, in the future there will be other endorsement deals. Do I think someone is not going to want to buy something MP endores because he smoked weed, no. IMO this reaction to his getting high is knee-jerk and in a month will be forgotten.

  69. kaytee Says:

    I’m not trying to start any controversy here, but when the athlete looks like MP, its oh, pot isn’t a big deal, he’s just a kid, they all do it. When the athlete looks like Rashaan Salaam or Ricky Williams, its oh they shouldn’t be doing that, kids look up to them, they can’t stay away from drugs long enough to make millions of dollars. Well I don’t think we can have it both ways, especially when you have a picture with Michael’s head down a big pipe of smoke and you are naming him athlete of the year!

  70. susieq Says:

    “We” won. I’m a lifelong broadcaster and feel that commentary is stimulating but the use of “we” is foolish indeed. Is Joy including Disney Company in her “we”? Maybe ABC needs a disclaimer to air on this show.”

    Well then Elisabeth needs “these are my opinions and mine alone” tatooed across her forehead.

    Quite frankly I’m amused at all the hoopla surrounding this bong hit. Seriously, when my husband and I were watching the Olympics, we were like “Yeah, you can totally tell Michael Phelps hits the “wacky tobacy” now and again.

    And as Joy would say ‘Who Cares!’

    Maybe it’s because I live in a city where it’s common place to see people walking down the street smoking a joint(We even have a “pot” bar downtown!), but I just don’t get all the “up-tightness” about weed in the US.

  73. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Steamin’ here in Jersey and don’t know where to begin….

    When Al Gore and John Kerry lost did we see him in the immediate months after giving whiner interviews about why they lost. NO !

    Never brought enough during the campaign:
    why didn’t Palin do Meet The Press, Face The Nation, or George Steph’s show ?

    Like those shows or not, they are part of the testing ground for candidates.

    Because she wasn’t up to the job and the MCain camp knew it.

  74. Sandy Says:

    # 56, Rainlillie,
    I have no reason to doubt that the web site you mentioned is correct, when all coverage was compiled, and compared.
    My comment was simply based on the coverage that I myself, saw, heard, and read.

    As to Sarah Palin’s children, I used the term, “published”, because I have read so many negative things about her children, mainly the older 2, that were negative.
    Not necessarily in the MSM, or on TV, but it was out there.
    Not that I believe it had anything to do with McCain/Palin losing the election.

  75. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Ahh… Limbaugh:

    - was called “Rusty” as a kid
    - 3 times divorced
    - drug user; prostitute seeker
    - 4-F for service in Viet Nam , yes due to a butt cyst
    - AND while he despises government programs that help people get a new start - he was once a beneficiary: Yes folks, between jobs early in his career he was on unemployement insurance.

    And have ya noticed the weight gain? Jabba the Hutt ?

  76. Lajet Says:

    PRIOR POST: The reason Bristol Palin’s pregnancy was a story was HYPOCRISY

    RESPONSE: And SP’s failure to put the story to rest. It would be very easy. She has chosen not to. And SP put her child in the middle of the story that she chose not to put to rest. Bristol’s pregnancy has little to do with Bristol, for the public, and everything to do with SP using Bristol as a partial explanation of the Trig controversy.

    Although I have to admit, Trig’s lineage, and Tripp and related threads are of little interest to me - and I don’t have much respect for SP. Clinton made lousy decisions about his personal life and was a good leader.

    While I find the story a diversion, I don’t think it was liberal media milking it and causing controversy. Sarah put her daughter in the middle of it, and Sarah has thus far refused to put the controversy to rest by simple procedures.

  77. May Says:

    I’m glad that I didn’t watch today’s show because I probably would have broken a toe while kicking my tv in. I don’t like yelling and having to hear EH tell Joy to “calm down” and rationalizing for creep Rush would have been the point when the toe would have done the deed.
    EH has told others to calm down at earlier times, for instance when she tried to subdue Sherri when Sherri berated her for dissing Obama.
    Sounds like EH was a sore loser today because of the Cardinals losing yesterday?
    JMHO

  78. Lajet Says:

    PRIOR POST: I understand what she is saying, I just do not agree, and don’t think it should have been brought up in connection with Micheal’s name.

    RESPONSE: I could make a stronger case for women who wear low cut tops, particularly on national TV and the rate of imappropriate flirting, and that being a gateway to ….. than for MJ being a gateway to steroid use!

  80. kaytee Says:

    My 2 cents on Sarah P’s family in the press:
    The republicans rolled her out and said that one of her many qualifications was the fact that she was a good mother to 5 kids. Well, i feel like if they are going to use that as a qualification, then I have every right to judge her mothering skills. And I have no respect for her as a mother. First of all you have a brand new baby with special needs and a preg teenage daughter, and several other young kids that obviously need a mother at home with them a little more so that the unfortunate incident of preg or drug use or whatever won’t happen again. But no, you want to be away from them more than you already are. The right thing for her to have done when McCain came a knocking would have been to say “While I am so honored that you thought of me, now is just not the right time in my life. Not only do I have kids who need my attention right now, but I have a teeenage preg daughter who the press would no doubt paste all over the media because i am the Abstinence queen of Alaska. So no, i will not do that to my daughter and the rest of my family. The timing is just not right.”
    Now that is what a good mother does, in my opinion, not throw their daughter to the dogs just to become vp!

  81. msroncon Says:

    Is Sherri for real? She always feels that she has to take the cause of the Black man in every situation. I guess Whoopie is what Latino?

    As far as Michael Phelps. So what…. hopefully he will watch who he parties with. I know it’s illegal, but after the training this kid has had, I’m not going to judge him. I believe pot should be legalized anyway. I don’t even smoke pot.

    I like the way EH announces she’s pregnant a couple of days ago and BOOM she’s already in her low cute maternity dresses rubbing her belly. Funny

  82. kaytee Says:

    I’m just saying.
    Boy, I don’t know what’s wrong with me today. I’m really on my soapbox!

  83. Bill Says:

    There’s a significant difference betweenwn “I” and “we”.each cast member is expressing their opinion. That’s a given. It’s the same reason spokespersons don’t use “we” when selling products unless they a an owner or employee of the company. I happen to agree with a lot of Joy’s opinions, but think it’s irresponsible to allow her to use the collective”we” without qualifying it.

  84. Kelly Says:

    I hear you May. I think I’m going to start selling The View TV Bricks…

    That’s what it has come to.

    Did Elisabeth say Rush is NOT the leader of the GOP?

    Thank you Joy - for a great toe-to-toe today with Simple.

  86. Heather in LA Says:

    um… Michael Phelps IS a role model. He has said it is his personal mission to bring young people into the sport of swimming. so… the message he is sending out is accomplish your goals so you can make millions and then spend 6 months drinking, getting high and hooking up with girls. He can’t have it both ways.

    And, yes, all that is ‘normal’ behavior when you are younger, but he has 20? million dollars in endorsement deals and you can be sure they have moral clauses - which will include alcohol even though it is legal. You don’t make money as a swimmer - you make it from winning the medals and parlaying it into endorsement deals, like a lot of sports…

    Palin is a moron and even if the media had been a lovefest she would have come thru as a moron. She quite willingly - hungrily - agreed to appear on SNL courting the very media that she is now claiming ruined her.

    Yes, it is hysterical that she is in DC palling around with pals of terrorists… lol. She may get paid a lot for her book but it will go to the remainder shelf pretty quickly. This current round of attention is like an aftershock after an earthquake. It will settle down soon and she will be a footnote. She is irrelevant. Even her own legislature is now questioning her commitment to her own state.

    And… I called it long ago on this site. That kid will never marry her daughter. When they announced the marriage would happen after the election they were just buying time.

  87. Kelly Says:

    First of all, it is role model, not roll model. Hey my grandparents were teachers.

    what did eh mumble about you’re fired in different languages?

    There was clearly an agenda. eh “I agree.”

    Oh wow, a new camera angle!

    but you got to hand it to bits, she is channeling her inner ghetto gal, gettin’ in ya grill an’ all.

    This “documentary” sounds as realistic as a couple of Oprah’s featured nonfiction books. But if you keep repeating the word documentary, then people keep thinking, oh, that means the truth.

    I don’t believe in larger-than-life role models or heroes.

    I think Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame. Larry Bird is one of my favorite athletes, gutsy to walk away from bob knight, nonpretentious, work ethic, but he could also be a jerk and apparently hasn’t been involved in his daughter’s life.

    Should movie and tv stars be banned from working because of a dui? caught smoking in a parking lot? heard of the McCarthy hearings?

    Tacky of bits to go all church lady innuendo on Michael Phelps when he was recently a “get” for the show b/c he dated BWs assistant. They are so classy to all their guests.

    perhaps this little Phelps incident could be a good learning session between parents and children. See, nobody is perfect. Even an olympic record breaker makes foolish choices. We all make mistakes and all have to work at making good decisions.

  89. Jane Says:

    We can be so gullible at times!

    The Rushs, the Palins, the media, the Madoffs, the Bushs, Wall Street, The View, the politcians of both parties and even the Obamas. They scoope the scene and then they set things in motion. To me Palin didn’t do her homework before she got in. She didn’t familiarize herself with the territory (the golden rule) therefore, now she is back tracking. Believe if she doesn’t watch herself make another bad step she really will be free game. Rush will have her butt too. Because he preys on the weak and is paid to do so. Entertainment is a bitch, huh! At least we get to pick our poison.

    Entertainment is why we pay big bucks for this dang new gotcha gadget TVs and/or converter boxes.

  90. Stacee Says:

    Here’s my take on the Michael Phelps incident: Pot (whether we agree with it or not) is illegal to use. He was caught smoking it. He was in the wrong.

    When you hire someone, you have standards and expectations on what they can do. After all, they are hired to represent you - the company. If they had a moral clause in the contract, the company is well within their rights to release him. This is bad publicity for them. If the public deems him as unfit or undeserving and not buy the company product, then the company loses money. They don’t want that.

    Yes, he is a role model. People aspire to be like him.

    I’m sure he enjoys a lot of comforts and perks because of his status. However, he also takes to good with the bad, and if this is the fallout behingd it, well that is the price you pay when you do something that you later have to apologize for.

    I agree he’s human. And this may have been a mistake on his part. But it is what it is, and when part of your livelihood is dependent upon how the public views you then you have to conduct yourself accordingly.

    Not sure what was up with Bits’ leap to the steroid use. She really knows how to throw those ridiculous analogies, doesn’t she?

  91. rainlillie Says:

    FYI, McCain and Palin lost, becuase the American people rejected more of the same. People were fed up with the smears and fear. So now, they have to try to find somone or something to blame their loss on. It’s the media.. It’s this, it’s that. If you want to know why you lost take a look at the policies put forth by Bush for the last 8 years. People sit up an pay attention when you start messing with their pocketbooks.

  92. Jennie Says:

    EH - The stimulus package is a joke…

    Psst…so are you…

    Did you see how EH seemed uncomfortable moving around in her chair a whole lot during the show? She looked uber preggers today. Maybe just the top? Maybe more than one bambino in there.

    Did she actually defend Rush? Now that’s funny. I say let Rush be the leader of the republican party. That would really take them down and out of the game.

  93. rainlillie Says:

    I think Michael will make out okay. If Kobe can comeback after being accused of rape, Michael shouldn’t have anything to worry about. I think the best thing he can do is to go public and apologize. Maybe do a few anti-drug PSA’s.

  94. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Rusty Limbaugh and Clear Channel. Yes, Clear Channel, owned by the Mays family out of Texas. Good buddies with George 41 & George 43. I used to work from them; but enough about me, lets talk about de-regulation, ClearChannel and Rusty’s success:

    Due to de-regulation of radio in the 1990’s Clear Channel was able to buy up a ton of radio stations all across the country. Do you realize the power of that voice?

    Then Rusty began building his career by harnessing the 1980’s Reagan era of ‘angry white men (mostly) who thought that government was evil, and out to take their money, and take their freedoms, helping foreigners, and gays, and brown people, and Feminists. While industries with the help of Reagan’s tax cuts were quietly leaving the mid west & northeast, helping create the rust belt.

    Then Rusty gets another gift in the 1990’s, the gift that keeps on giving, and solidified his career: Bill Clinton. It was Clinton’s fault for EVERYTHING. Clinton this, and Clinton that.
    Clinton represented everything Rusty hated and lacked: smarts, charisma, and savvy political skills.

    So now the power of AM radio: vastly unused broadcasting real estate (after the 70’s gave us FM). The birth of a ton of right wing talk: Michael Savage, Hannity, Glen Beck, O’Reilley,Neil Bortz. Can you name one or two major liberal voices .personalities on radio??

    Ahhh. The power. Impacting public opinion. Harnessing hate and anger. Free speech. Yes. Propaganda? You bet(cha).

    So that is why, on any given weekday when I drive 2 hours from NJ to visit my dear Mom and Dad in eastern Pennsylvania, and I lose sound of my beloved Newark jazz station, and my precious one liberal station out of NYC and I hear 7, yes, SEVEN, radio stations broadcasting Rusty Limbaugh.

    The Power that impacts public opinion. And it al happened while we were sleeping in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Thank you Ronnie Reagan; thank you Republican controlled Congress.

    Then we wake up and its 2000. Karl Rove, takes that Power and runs with it…..

  95. Elsie Says:

    I was surprised to see John Ziegler on the show today. He was a talk show host here in L.A. on KFI. He is all for the first amendment. So much so, that he was sued in KY for giving out details of an intimate encounter with a journalist, on his show. He also got into trouble at KFI, ultimately getting himself fired. He launched an online tirade against his former employer, and especially against his nemesis, a fellow talk show host of the John & Ken show. “It was probably even more troubling for him that I knew that he was a fraud and he knew that I was not. That combined with the reality that John is married to an overweight, badgering wife to whom he is totally beholden, while I was younger, single and dating very attractive women, all probably created a toxic mix that blinded his usually expert abilities to properly analyze a situation.”

  96. Diane from N.J. Says:

  99. Kelly Says:

    :shock: #93

    Diane – Clear Channel owns the local radio program in Toledo that stood behind the most corrupt politicians in our area.

    All day long – disinformation.

    GOPmom always believed everything they had to say until my company engaged in corruption I became a whistleblower. Suddenly GOPmom had some facts.

    This Clear Channel radio program tirelessly defended the crocks that I blew the whistle on.

    Eventually, the President and Vice President of my former company were fired, but the radio station goes on unchallenged still today.

    And GOPmom is back to believing everything they say.

  100. susieq Says:

    “If Kobe can comeback after being accused of rape, Michael shouldn’t have anything to worry about.”

    Kobe was not guilty of doing something illegal (rape) but guilty of doing something immoral (cheating on his wife). IMO either way he shouldn’t be a role model.

    Would there be such an outcry if it had been a “bad boy” athlete? I think people admire MP because of his athletic prowess not his character or out of the water behavior.

    What about the athletes who father children with multiple women? Isn’t that immoral? As I asked upthread, who defines immoral?

  101. Kelly Says:

    #98 WTH can’t I spell crook?

  102. Vegas Says:

    I just finished watching my recording and I didn’t delete it because I figured we may want to go back and check on if we can make out some of the mumblings and things being said under the shouting.

    Nobody mentioned this yet but didn’t anyone notice that Whoopi said “That’s Bullshit’ when that guy was talking? It didn’t get bleeped because there was so much cross talk. Elisabeth muttered ‘typical’ after Joy asked if she could finish her sentence. Whoopi said something and then Elisabeth..being mad that she was unable to finish her thought, said ‘typical’. And made a face.

    I think Elisabeth was totally baiting Joy to go off on her and make it personal when she told her to calm herself down. Coming from her that is hilarious.. she is the most irrational person on that panel and she tells Joy to calm down? Good for Joy on being able to remain composed and not give that little witch what she was aiming for. Now that she is pregnant again, she is back to her feisty, fight mode, and this show was very similar to the pregnant Elisabeth/Rosie smackdown from 2 years ago.

  103. May Says:

    By the way, Kelly, I’d like to order a six pack of the tv bricks. That would probably do me till next Monday. :-D

  104. dana Says:

    Athletes are humans. If you want a role model for your kid - BE ONE. Phelps gets paid a lot of money to sell things not to be a role model to kids. Like it or not it’s business. Would you want your child to have a role model of a starving actress (literally) or a doped up athlete? Think about it. We have to teach our children better.

  105. rainlillie Says:

    I agree, I also think that kids will see the consequences of Michale’s actions.

  106. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Wowee, wow Kelly.

    “All day long the disinformation.” Yes, hundreds of radio stations across the country.

    Then just when we thought the right wing had a large enough voice: Enter Fox News Channel.

    And its all quite legit’; they have a right their right to free speech too. But no fact checking, no investigative journalism, creating an alternate reality, disinformation clouded by ferocious religiosity and the flag.

    Quite a formula.

    So that is how we wake up to somebody named Rusty Limbaugh who makes $38 mil a year and has a powerful direct voice to Republican Congresspeople. They listen to him.

    and P.S. “Crock” is just fine.

  107. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #66 Bill–

    “We” won. I’m a lifelong broadcaster and feel that commentary is stimulating but the use of “we” is foolish indeed.

    You repeated this twice, which tells me that you feel this is important.

    I do agree if she is speaking as a “spokesperson” she should not use WE in her opinions. She is not paid to be a spokesperson though. She is on the TV show The View…… she is paid to give her view… not ABC or Disney’s view. If Joy says something wrong, Joy will be held responsible. ABC will not be taken off the air if Joy says something wrong, but Joy might be.

    When Joy says “We Won” she is correct…. I am part of Joy’s “WE” when President Obama was elected, I was part of that win…. Im not President… but on that day I won. The Democrats won….. America won… so when Joy says WE WON…. she is right.

    Ya know Bill…. paying attention to the message instead of how it is presented would seem to be more important. JMO

  108. rainlillie Says:

    I want to make it clear I don’t condone Michael’s drug use. What bothered me about the discussion is TLB’s and Sherri’s attitude. I wonder if Sherri thinks her hubby who cheated on her is a good role model for her son? Or does TLB think a man like Bush is a good role model for her children?

  109. FireElisabeth Says:

    They just need to get rid of EH once and for all.

    How dare she tell Joy “Goodness, calm yourself down?”

  110. Lopez Says:

    “The only reason Palin was attacked so brutally was the fact that she was a threat.”

    That’s on point. She’s a threat to America.

  111. LouiseInAlabama Says:

    I agree #24. The show has turned into a Jerry-Springer-like arena. The panel talks over each other so badly that you can’t hear anything clearly, as well as the topics are always slanted. They’ve become the butt of jokes in the news media on a weekly basis & fairness and balance has been non-existent on this show for quite some time now.

    What about the athletes who father children with multiple women? Isn’t that immoral? As I asked upthread, who defines immoral?

    Are those athletes role models? Are they being paid millions to convince parents to buy their children products that they endorse? I dont think they are…….. MP was.

    Ill shut up about it now….. but not so sure about later ;)

  113. rainlillie Says:

    “That’s on point. She’s a threat to America.”

    You got that right.

  114. ShannonP Says:

    I don’t think much of Phelps using pot. I just think he was an idiot to get caught. If I worked for a company that did drug testing and I got caught, it would be on me. I was aware of the situation. He would have to mentally handicapped to put himself in a situation doing something like that and getting a picture taken. He put himself in the situation, so whatever consequences come of it, it’s on him.

    As for the rest of the show today, I wanted to clock Elisabeth. But oh yeah, I can’t, she’s pregnant. Quite the maneuver she pulled with that one. Now people can pussy foot around her because she’s pregnant. Now we have normal biatch Elisabeth with pregnancy hormones on top of it, great. She’ll be able to spit out whatever crap she wants to, she was completely out of control in that last segment. She was like a wind up doll that wouldn’t shut up. No one else could get a word in.

  115. susieq Says:

    ” wonder if Sherri thinks her hubby who cheated on her is a good role model for her son? Or does TLB think a man like Bush is a good role model for her children?”

    These 2 need to start worrying about what kind of role models THEY are for their kids. One of these days their kids are going to be old enough to go online and even if the View is no longer on the air the things they have said will live forever on youtube.

    I never complain about celeb role models being a bad influence on my kid because I hope I’ve taught my son enough to not to want to emulate anyone. If he grows up wanting to just be himself then I have done my job as a parent.

  116. rainlillie Says:

    #73. I understand Sandy. I’ll e-mail you some info.

  117. Kelly Says:

    Vegas

    Shoot - Elisabeth also told Joy, “…don’t just rely on the Liberal commentators you listen to all the time.” Like Joy needs to (or has the time to) listen to anybody to form an opinion.

    And then Barbara said to the imp, “Can we go beyond your carrying on and get to something that is REALLY offensive?”

    And EH ignored her boss and kept on talking about $500Million for Smartcars.

    Too bad EH wasn’t concerned about $600Billion for Iraq and the drain that placed on the economy or the $700Billion bailout for Wall Street that didn’t save the economy.

    May, I have you down for a six pack of View TV Bricks. Because you’re a loyal WTViewer – I’ve enclosed a complimentary Hasselbrick emblazoned with an image of TLB’s two-faces, two big giant wiggly water balloon breast AND an embedded microchip that repeats some of the most grating Hasselbeckisms, “Jeffrey Dahmer ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…LOOK….I’m just saying….A, spew….and B, spew….First of ALL…One – blah blah blah….And TWO….”

  118. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #24 KV–

    Elizabeth just has to fight against everyone to speak.
    This man could not speak much less tell about his Documentary.

    Both of these comments are beyond incorrect.

    First Elisabeth does fight against everyone to speak….. because she is interrupting people that disagree with her point…. she doesnt listen to their point…. she just attempts to shout them down until the shut up…… an obvious Sean Hannity tactic.

    The fantasy that this guy couldnt speak much less tell about his documentary isnt correct either. He was asked many tough questions, all he said about it was…. you are wrong, or watch the documentary. I think he said that like 7 or 8 times.

    You are on the show to promote the documentary with information…. if u dont have the information dont go on the show.

    Thanks for the heads up Louise…. I missed that post earlier

    MY RESPONSE: LOL :-D

  120. Mary Evans Says:

    I think they should all consider that they are/were role models to their children. Especially EH and SS at this time since their kids are so young. And it is so true that youtube etc will be there when the kids grow up and look back at their moms on this show.

    EH outing Gracie in the closet,or hiring a 10 year old so she can beat Gracie at Wii….

    And SS going nude in front of Jeffrey, shaking her boobs in his face, her lustfulness and gluttony and her “too many abortions to count” don’t bode well for her in the role model department.

    As a role model MP might not last long, but they will be role models to their own kids forever.

  121. Danielle Says:

    Yeah, SP is a threat alright. She’s desperately trying to convey that you don’t have to be educated to become the president of the US, like Bush. Uhh…been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I don’t think America will go down that road again.

  122. Vegas Says:

    Just sayin…
    I really hate how Elisabeth imitates the speaking style of her FNC buddies. Notice how she always starts off her rants with ‘Look…’

    I hate how she puffs out her chin and lip when she wants to make a point.

  123. Stacee Says:

    Kelly Says: “Elisabeth also told Joy, “…don’t just rely on the Liberal commentators you listen to all the time.”

    Ahhhhhhh, 6 more months of hormone-fueled lip-flapping cleavage-filled upskirt-angling fact-defying conservative rage.

  131. GraceKelly Says:

    1) Rush Limbaugh has made himself the oracle for the republican conservatives and feels personally that he took on the President of the United States and the republicans are empowering and allowing him to do so. They all rally behind a spokesperson who was disqualified from a military duty because of a:

    BUTT CYST

    ROTFLMAO!!!! IMHO he still is a BUTT CYST and always will be. Rush (the butt cyst) Limbaugh. Oh, thank you so much for that tidbit.

    2) The McCains and Palin were very mean and manipulative of the press and are then so confused and act like the victims instead of facing into their own inadequacy and ineptitude.

    3) ITA that wrapping a rotten fish in a low cut maternity dress is still a rotten old fish with a dumb mouth.

    4) Palin’s own big mouth to the media announcing her dtr’s pregnancy and wedding (WHEN IS THE WEDDING BTW) trying to be coy and defy her own conservative values. Also how the ‘kids’ are working their butts off which got future son-in-law in trouble with his electrician program because it spotlighted his lack of prerequisite high school diploma. Nobody really gives a good damn except she keeps stepping in it and blaming EVERYBODY but herself.

  132. rainlillie Says:

    TLB is a leap frog… If you smoke pot you may use steroids , if you know someone like Ayers you may also be a terrorist. What are we to think of her? She admires Hannity and defends Rush and Bush.

  138. MiamiVision Says:

    At foxnews dot com hannity has a link on his page just for *Hannity and Hasselbeck* - a most permanent link, with her standard picture that he always uses at the website

    By the way, foxnews is a totally refurbished website-sort of looks a little dumbed down and conservative, not just stark navy blue and white. I’m thinking they are trying to improve their *image* but with the same ol, same ol rhetoric spewing out of there, they cannot fool some/most people.

  139. susieq Says:

    “At foxnews dot com hannity has a link on his page just for *Hannity and Hasselbeck* - a most permanent link, with her standard picture that he always uses at the website ”

    Do you think she has a picture of him on her nightstand?

  140. Erika Says:

    susieq- I totally thought the same thing when I first found out how old Palin’s son was and how long she’d been married; and of course, she eloped to have her premature baby(ha). The media actually gave her a break on that one.

    Kelly- “You can gift wrap that rotten fish in a low-cut, high-rise maternity dress - but its still rotting fish.” Lol! :lol:

    And, like Joy, I also enjoyed hearing BW say “smoking weed.” ha

  141. Erika Says:

    It was also funny when BW got all finger pointy in that guy’s space. I thought she was going to poke him in his chest and push him off his high chair! :lol:

  142. MiamiVision Says:

    Thanks, Kelly!! LOL @ a day late and a flagpin short!

    I so agree, it’s so true - and I find many right winged folks this way and some republicans - and also the hypocrisy that emanates *peeeeee ewwwwwwww*

  143. MiamiVision Says:

  144. ShannonP Says:

    “It was also funny when BW got all finger pointy in that guy’s space. I thought she was going to poke him in his chest and push him off his high chair!”

    I agree lol. I also liked that earlier in the show she told Whoopi to hold on when Whoopi was trying to monopolize the conversation with how her point was THE point and not letting anyone else talk. I think it was during the Phelps bit. Whoopi tried twice and BW twice said Whoopi hold on. She needs to do that more often. I get tired of the faces Whoopi is always making when someone else is saying what they think. I think it would be funny if someone did that back to her all the time, made the “omg you are so stupid to think that face”. Whoopi does it just to get attention and they all let her have it.

  145. Kelly Says:

    LOL - Erika says, “It was also funny when BW got all finger pointy in that guy’s space. I thought she was going to poke him in his chest and push him off his high chair!”

    I KNOW Erika – with her bony wooden finger like that witch with the apple in Snow White… “Magic Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?”

  146. rainlillie Says:

    “with her bony wooden finger like that witch with the apple in Snow White… “Magic Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?”

    LOL! I thought the guy was such a jacksass!

  147. Kelly Says:

    Winnie says, “The first topic was the Super Bowl. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that she was really watching because Tim was with the Cardinals last year.”

    -why didn’t she mention he only played one game?

    “Tim Hasselbeck was not selected in the 2001 NFL Draft. He was signed to the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens practice squads before making his NFL debut with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2002. Throughout his career, Hasselbeck also played for the Panthers, Redskins, Giants and Cardinals. HIS ONLY PLAYING TIME came in 2003 as a member of the Redskins where he appeared in seven games. He also appeared in one game in 2007 for the Cardinals.”

    The Truth and EH are strangers…

  148. Erika Says:

    Talking about Phelps…his theme song should be Blink 182’s “What’s my Age Again??”
    Here’s some lyrics:
    “Nobody likes you when your 23
    And you still act like you’re in Freshman year
    What the hell is wrong with me?
    My friends say I should act my age
    What’s my age again?” ;)

  149. rainlillie Says:

    I keep my bangs cut so they won’t go in my eyes, I find it so annoying when women shake their heads constantly to get the hair out of their eyes. TLB doesn’t even have bangs and she does it. Let’s all get together and send her some clips.

  150. mibi Says:

    I’m over the repub crying ala the documentary guy. He needs to get a life and move on as does EH. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. thats all we won move on.

  151. rainlillie Says:

    Erika,

    I love Blink! My son played their CD until I gave in and started liking them too. Now he’s moved on, but I still like them and the Foo fighters too. That’s a good way to get your kids to stop listening to music, tell them you like it too.

  152. Erika Says:

    Kelly, your statement of “The Truth and EH are strangers…” reminds me of your link title:
    “The Way Things Aren’t
    Rush Limbaugh Debates Reality” I love it!

  153. Kelly Says:

    Flagpin Clips or Elephant Clips?

    How about a shaving kit and a tutu?

    She still owes us her blonde highlights and a dance in the oval office.

  154. Erika Says:

  158. calondra scruggs Says:

    Their is something horrible wrong with EH views.It is my opinion EH in her own way has underline issues.She hates to be on the losing end of anything.For her to somehow agree with Rush in any area or to say he has the right to say whatever he wants.Well that explain everthing!!EH is out of touch with the everyday working people their is know way she could uderstand the real word,she live in a glass house where the real word can’t reach her.

  159. Erika Says:

    Rain, the whole hair flipping thing is very animal. I watched the 20/20 special and they showed how people act very primitively in courtship and kept showing this one woman doing the hair shake in slow motion. If TLB is pregnant, just who is she trying to attract???

  160. Aileen Says:

    #15 Kelly - LMAOOOO I think this instructional video could curb that issue:

    I’m just saying….

  161. Erika Says:

    Rain, you just posted on Phelps time- 4:20! lol

  162. rainlillie Says:

    Erika, I was going to watch the half time show but decided not to. I know you didn’t watch it.. LOL! My hubby isn’t a Bruce fan either.

  163. Erika Says:

    I didn’t want to offend others who like him, but I’m sick of seeing his fugly face everywhere lately(my Rolling Stone mag!). I think Joy wants him to retire too.

    Whoopi and I must have totally opposite musical taste. :)

  164. berndoubt Says:

    Well, you go to lunch with your girlfriends and you miss so much around here.

  165. southernexplosion Says:

    I hope we don’t get a Rosie and Elisabeth i’ am pregnant act, So we have to be nice to Lizzie. Please tear that girl a new one Joy.
    And please Sherry and Elizabeth stop acting all high and mighty. Now I don’t support what Michael did because why when people get rich they decide to do stupid things i will never know.
    But to say OH he a roll model to our kids true because he is in the spotlight. But why can’t we go back to the old days when your parents or some elderly person was your hero, don’t get me wrong you can have tv role models but people please. These people are human just like the rest of us and to say they want never make mistake and putting them on that high place is just crazy. Because back then you have celebrity role model but you didn’t have cameras and people all in your face but now you do so calm down.

  166. Roger from Ohio Says:

    Do you think she has a picture of him on her nightstand?

    I wasnt gonna say anything, but since EH brought up the whole smoking pot = steroid use and the hanging out with Ayers = possible terrorist and peanutbutter and jelly sandwichs = serial killer then Ill pass along this little thought of mine.

    When I first heard about her pregnancy, and the whole time frame…. wasnt that when she was “on the road” with Palin and Hannity? All of the on air “flirting” …. was any of it taken off the air? Could Hannity be the father of this new “blessed event”?

    Im just sayin…. *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*

  167. Diane from N.J. Says:

    Did any one remember who else played for the Cardinals ?

    Pat Tillman.

    ENLISTED for duty after 9-11. Gave up lucrative football contract with the Cardinals.

    Bush Administration thinks they have struck gold with his celebrity enlistment. They use him as another poster-person, tool of propaganda - just like Jessica Lynch.

    Then he is killed in Afghanistan in April 2004.

    Dept of Defense says he was killed by the ‘enemy’.

    Pat Tillman’s mother and brother have evidence that there was a cover-up. They say he was killed by friendly fire & they want someone held accountable.

    Coincidentally, April 2004 is when the Abu Garab story was about to break wide open. No way that Bush & Co. wanted to admit that there was a cover-up on Tillman’s death.

    ~~~~~
    I have written on this blog many times: When Elizabeth Hasselbeck supported Bush’s war(s) so much…then why didn’t footbller hubby Tim ENLIST ?
    Pat Tillman did.
  168. Erika Says:
    Roger, I wouldn’t dare say he was the father, but I bet he got her in baby-ready-mode. ;)
    I like how Rain called her a “leap frog.” Lol.
  169. Diane from N.J. Says:
    Google: “Emptywheel Pat Tillman”
    I have to learn how to turn my name ‘pink’.
  170. Erika Says:
    Also, if you click on Rain’s name, she posted about Pat yesterday on her blog.
    WOW!!!! after 150 + posts. There isn’t much
    left that hasn’t been said…
    John Ziegler needs to get a life and move on..the election is OVER and it doesn’t fricking matter what he says or thinks. And
    to make a documentary??? about it no less???
    At least Babs corrected him when he said
    “she was wrong” and she said no, “I am not
    wrong”, that is my opinion. All this bull shit could go on for an eternity..blah,blah
    blah, blah, blah.
    I read a post on NEWSER that Elizabeth said
    she was surprised by the pregnancy and “didn’t know how it happened”. The comment was “does someone need to tell her”?
    As for the athletes/celebrities and their substance abuses…there is s-o-o-o much of it that it is mind boggling. Guess they know the consequences like anyone else but chose to ignore it. and it has been the downfall of many…so unfortunate
    What a great show! I truly love hot topics with the ladies. I think its interesting that people are downing EH for yelling regarding her point. However, I don’t find anyone saying anything about Joy doing the very same thing. I understand we all arn’t going to agree but lets at least be fair. Great job Elisabeth Hasselbeck! You are tuly the only reason why I watch the show!
  181. Aileen Says:
    #15 Kelly - LMAOOOOO I have an instructional video on my site that would address this issue. :lol:
    Akay.. Akay.. Akay…I dont get the remark by the Rotting Fish lady how a dubie is a gateway drug for steriods or heroin.
    Thats like saying a makeout session is a gateway to group sex..
    Thats like saying stealing office supplies from work is a gateway to robbing banks.
    Thats like saying wearing a low cut maternity dress is a gateway to swinging on poles in a gentlemens club nekkid. :lol:
    Indiscretions are just that. You cannot speculate on ones future decisions unless a pattern has been established. This is not the case here and here goes the fear mongering over a dubie du.
    #26 rg13 - If the media is in a love fest with Obama, its due to the majority of American who were fed up with the Bush regime and were united in the idea of change. Palin a threat? Oh yeah.. her education, pagent shows and rimless glasses where very threatening. Now the image of her holding a rifle from a helicopter shooting wolves.. certainly threatens me.
    #30 Wendee - RIGHT ON SISTA!!!!
    #32 Shirley - The posters here have the same opinions because we rely on Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman for our information. :lol:
    #45 Sandy Hello Dahlink ;)
    Roga Dahlink - (taking long drag of the dubie) - Here you go dude…
    #74 Diane from NJ - :lol: LMAOOOOOOOOO :lol:
    Holy crap.. I dont know which I like better.. BW refering to the Doobies as WEED or watching her stick her finger in that dudes face when he was trying to put words in her mouth. Watching the Rotten fish lady and that dude sitting next to her was the epitome of Republican type rants that just bowl peeps over so noone else can hear opposing points of view. The Rotten fish Lady is like a rabid dog with foam coming out of her mouth.
    #159 - Rain, Please go directly to the bathroom and wash your mouth out with soap. BRUUUUUUUUUUCE RULES! (spoken by a jersey girl)
    #160 - Erika - OMFG!!!! Now go to the kitchen and under the sink, grab the comet and WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT!!!!
    Who gives a crap if MP drives down the doobie lane. If it affects his endorsements.. well it his bad. If he is finally letting loose after all the years of strict training.. well its his decision. I will not speculate on the morales or Role Modeling. I am sure when this guy was a teen and working hard to qualify for the olympics.. the first thing on his mind was.. geee.. I want to be a good role model. He trained for the sport he loves. He wins.. and now corporations want to throw money at you. Its a no brainer.. I dont think he allowed himself to pinch products in order to be a good role model.
    Dont no one call me a role model to anyone!! That would just ruin my reputation.
    I’m just saying….
She then apologises to the audience as she couldn’t get enough Valium to make it today’s give away.
    I’ll give you Bon Jovi at least at the verrrryyy beginning when he was still rocking(not country-ing). He is a cutie though and his acting isn’t half bad. The one who shall remain nameless, I cannot endorse…even if he is from Jersey.(ha) :mrgreen:
    No wonder I relate to you and your sense of humor, Aileen. My mom grew up in Jersey and a lot of her self-humor comes from her naturally endowed 44 long(s) she likes to call them.
    I’m sitting in northern BC and the weather has been crazy amazing…+16 celsius is very warm for northern BC at this time of year.
    That said it’s dark early so a bonfire is fun and my dogs get to spend time playing and woofing at sounds and other critters.
  189. joey Says:
    I have to say this…sumpin’s up today with the posting time…my first post was posted along with with a couple of other’s after me: awhile later Aileen’s post came up numbered before us and as if it were posted before us…her post was way later than when I posted time-wise.
    I love Aileen’s comments…
    That’s curious. I’d like to know on what basis you say that.
    Why was she a threat? Who was she a threat to?
    Gotta admit, I don’t see Katie Couric as attacking SP by asking what she reads.
    If the media was after her, why not go after her AIP connection. Particularly given some of her comments about patriotism.
    Do you think the Repubs ever engage in unfair attacks?
  193. Aileen Says:
    Erika - for your FYI Both BS and JBJ both hung out together early in JBJ’s career at the Stone Pony in Asbury park, Joisey. What Exit??? I actually like JBJ new countryfied new music. I am not a country music lovin gal but I do like his stuff. Even peeps who dont like Bruce say he puts on the best shows. He plays 4 -5 hours and he never loses steam. He is a god!
    “No wonder I relate to you and your sense of humor, Aileen. My mom grew up in Jersey and a lot of her self-humor comes from her naturally endowed 44 long(s) she likes to call them.”
    OMG!!! I just spit out my vino all over the puter!!!! TFF. Well I do mirror your mom’s sense of humor. Myself and my daughter are gifted as well but in regards to my daughter, I always say she can certainly feed a small village. :mrgreen:
    Sandy Dahlink - Here is a link to a Song Titled “Sandy” By Bruce himself. Press play on the right side of the lyrics. Its a beautiful song and it should make u blush ;)
    I am posting the link under my name here since posting links get me put in moderation.
    #180 Jon A–
    I think its interesting that people are downing EH for yelling regarding her point. However, I don’t find anyone saying anything about Joy doing the very same thing.
    Im not sure Jon…. do u watch the show or do you just read about how EH was being abused?
    When I saw the show, I saw Joy Whoopi and Barbara asking this guy questions….. when one of them was trying to make a point that EH disagreed with, she interrupted them and started yelling until the shut up….. If she would have let them finish their point, she wouldnt have had to “fight” to make her point.
    You see Jon…. that is one of the most unimpressive Faux News tactics that EH uses….. the loudest one is the most right….. well that isnt how things work in the real world….I wish those on the right could understand that.
    When you watch Faux News and 2 right wing nut cases are on, the host doesnt yell and try and talk over them…. why do you think that is Jon?
  195. Roger from Ohio Says:
    My darling Aileen–
    Ill smoke up with you anytime you like, when we are comfortably baked…. we will then start making brownies for those that dont want to inhale.
    If someone pays me $20 million to use my name and face to sell their products….. and they have the stipulation put in the contract that has to do with a morals clause.
    Then no matter how bad I would want to, and no matter how fun it would be…… Id have to turn you down and not smoke dope with you.
    He isnt a role model because he won gold medals in the Olympics…. but because he is getting paid….. there are lots of people that won gold medals in the Olympics…. but they arent being paid…. so therefore, they arent in the media eye.
  196. Aileen Says:
    Joey Woman!
    I am doing well with this much needed break. I drove up north on Saturday to my sisters to pick up my mother and decided to stay over and not drive than 1.5 hour late. Once we made this decision… we broke out the Dirty Martini’s!!!! Holy crap.. we got totally zonked and started the.. “I love you man” business. :mrgreen: Once we ran out of olives and juice, we made strawberryteenies. Okay.. that is the last thing I remember. I was on the phone the whole way home the next day with her crying laughing at the stupid arguments and laughing fits we had in all of one short evening. You should see us when we vacation together.. boy do I have stories..
    Ok I have to admit, I did have to convert the temperature there and I believe it was 60 degrees fahrenheit? Sounds lovely. I did have to go find some information of North BC and it looks amazing. Great for seriously nature peeps. I just gotta know if you have electricty for my hair dryer if I decide to come visit. If not, its a deal breaker :mrgreen: Seriously, the area looks amazing. How many dogs and what kind? Sounds like fun.
    Okay.. okay.. something very funny. Click on the link on my name and go check out my grandson who is dancing in the living room. I cant stop watching it and laughing. You have to watch a couple of times. Its only a minute long video. This kid thinks he is Fonzie.
    Man I gotta say watching the view today and reading about it is two different things all together. Todays show was incredible with all the cross talk and arguing. The Rotten Fish Lady really was back to her ole self as the liberal hating monger..
    If I hear the term “Elite Media” one more time.. I am going to barf, package it and send it to the view.
    I’m just saying…
  198. Aileen Says:
    HOLY CRAP!!!!! North NJ just had a small earthquake!!!! I can hear the rumbling and called my sister to find out that she is standing in the living room trying to figure out why the house was vibrating!!! I dunno folks.. we have so many military bases in NJ that I dont yet buy the earthquake. We will see in the morn.
    There is no where left to hide from natural disasters. I am going now to dig a bunker and buy a years worth of canned beans and dehydrated milk to stock up. This could be messy..
    I’m just saying…
  199. Aileen Says:
    Okay.. the earthquake was in Morristown NJ.. where my sister lives :mrgreen” 2.3 small but shocking..
    Going back to digging.. adding tums to the list…
    I’m just saying…
  200. Aileen Says:
    Darn, I have so many posts in moderation. Sheesh.. I have responded to all the peeps but you must wait until Winnie wakes up to clear my good name.
    Roga Dahlink - LMAOOOO you stoner. I do plan to move to Cali to get my card for medicinal Doobies.
    In regards to MP, do you know personally what is included in his morales clause? I can imagine the meeting…
    - No Smoking ciggys
    - No littering
    - No slapping girls on the butt cheeks
    - No drinking until you throw up
    - No mooning your old high school teacher who gave you a hard time
    - No talking back to your mother
    - No forgetting to take out the garbage
    - No dropping mickeys into girls drinks
    - No cheating on your taxes
    - No downloading music or movies
    - No overlooking old ladies who need help crossing the street
    - No rubbing the magic lamp in public places
    and my favorite…..
    - No driving down Doobie Lane with peeps who can narc on you with a cell phone with a camera
    If it is so immorale to tap the bong water, then how do peeps in Cali get cards to get it legally?
    I’m just saying…
  201. Julianne Says:
    I want to call EH a name that I’ve never used before……….
  202. SallyMM Says:
    Here in Australia, following this blog after watching the View is very interesting.Is it my imagination or does EH get very aggresive and “Cocky” when she is pregnant I seem to remember her being preg when she had her last outburst with Rosie. Joy was right Democrats won!!
  203. Roger from Ohio Says:
    Alright Aileen….. you seem like a good sport… how about this question…..
    Which would you rather your child to adopt as their role model, Michael Phelps or Snoop Dog?
    They both got where they are by hard work and dedication. They both make the news for smoking pot….. which would you be pleased to find out that your child/grandchild would like to emulate?
    just askin :twisted:
  204. Aileen Says:
    Okay Roga.. u seem to like a beating.. so here it is.. :twisted:
    Snoop Doggie Dog is a stona. He has no shame but he is harmless but probaly reeks of cannibus. If my kids choose to listen to his music I would know for a fact it would not be for his blunt abilities. They can certainly admire his music but not his blunt stained fingers. I remember one of my favorite movies was with Cheech and Chong, Up in Smoke. OMG!! that movie cracked me up and the scene in back of the van with the woman having that big “O” by herself is still burned in my memory. Also the final scene with all the cops eating pizza shamelessly had me on the floor. We all remember what good chit means. Doberman style. Ok I love Cheech and Chong but lord have mercy.. I do not see them as role models and seriously I dont smoke dat chit. Who can blog all night with slitty eyes? :mrgreen:
    My kids are smart enough to seperate the art from the indulgences. I don’t teach them that peeps are perfect and we should nix off a talent by a single indiscretion. They have had indiscretions themselves which they have corrected. To tell my children that the Brady Bunh families are real is just ludicrous. I dont condone bad or illegal behavior but paaaleaase, like it wont happen to your family. The best thing you can do it to teach you kids is to learn from the issue and grow from it. Strive for better. Mistakes/Indiscretions are actually good for the growing process. If one’s child can see the cause and effect from an indiscretion and learn from it.. you are raising much better children then Leave It To Beaver. And I am not talking about a skin flick.
    I’m just saying….
  205. Aileen Says:
    Roga Dahlink.. my response is again in moderation… lord have mercy…
    I have to say I am really peeood at you. You read the few posts that were posted but you failed to respond to the fact that we had an EARTHQUAKE!!!! No words of:
    - Are you okay? (No, I am sick to my stomache from eating all those beans)
    - Do you have any crack in your foundation? (yes its the rotten fish lady surfacing and I am askeared)
    - Do you need anything?? (yes I need a tall drink of water from Sam Shepard)
    Lord I am shocked and appalled.
    I’m just saying…
  206. Aileen Says:
    Julianne.. Go ahead and think it outloud. I seem to think I know the word..YIKES!!!! it is befitting thou..
    I’m just saying..
  207. Roger from Ohio Says:
    BIG HUGS to Aileen
    when you told us about the earthquake, I was shocked, but then realized that if you are telling us about it then everything must be alright.
    I didnt want to go on and on about it…. I know how much you just hate attention.
    Suffice it to say that I wiped away a tear out of fear for you and your sister…. Im glad all is well.
    Excellent posts #34 Sarah #47 Monica.
    In case anyone didn’t know - Palin has started a PAC - implying she plans to run for office in 2012. Her term as Governor expires in 2010 – at the same time a local Senate seat opens for reelection.
    Looks like we haven’t seen the last of her.
    “SarahPAC believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of an historic renaissance that will build a better future for all,” the site says. “Health care, education and reform of government are among our key goals.”
    Health care? Now Republicans are concerned about health care. wow
    She’ll be running on the platform of energy independence.
    Teepen: Taking on Limbaugh the bully
    There’s worry among Democrats that President Barack may have unwisely stirred a hornets’ nest when he lightly gigged Rush Limbaugh, the radio gasbag who inveighs from the far right to millions of loyalists.
    …In political circles, Limbaugh is accounted an 800-pound gorilla — more or less literally — who is better left alone to do his demagoguery unrebuked than confronted and thus provoked to spread the damage even more wildly…Limbaugh has always struck me as less a truly tough guy than a grown-up playground bully who is covering his inner crybaby with swagger and cowering behind a gang of followers who do his fighting for him.
    …The recount in Minnesota declared Al Franken the winner in that squeaker Senate race there. If the courts concur, the author of the 1996 best-seller “Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations” will be a player of note in Washington.
    Senator Franken, your agenda awaits you.
    #196, Aileen, “If I hear the term “Elite Media” one more time.. I am going to barf, package it and send it to the view.”
    The elite media that is discussed is meant to be the reporters, but in fact, the media is controlled by very rich people who own the companies that are the media. Very rich people stick very much together.
  210. rainlillie Says:
    Bern,
    I wonder if that would be the same media who helped march this country to war, with very little opposition reporting?
    The media was supposed to be the eyes, ears and voice of the American people… when it comes to questioning our government. Instead they were blind, deaf and mute.
  211. rainlillie Says:
    #201. Would that be the pet name that McCain has for his wife?
  212. Kelly Says:
    Diane #94 – thanks so much for the post. I had no idea and it boggles my mind knowing what I know about Clear Channel and their efforts here to recall our Democrat Mayor.
    Do all back roads lead to Bush?
    BTW –Karl Rove WILL testify before Congress despite his declaration on O’Reilly that he wouldn’t.
    He’s going in – and he’s going down. I think he will be the sacrificial lamb. And now, begins DominoGate.
    I’ve got front row seats for this…click on my name for story.
    (Great post kaytee #80)
    AND now the Republicans have their soccer mom candidate for 2012, an African-American RNC Chair, and Joe the Plumber as an advisor. They think they can buy votes through the ‘illusion of inclusion’…
    Who will fall for it?
  213. Kelly Says:
    #160 OMG Aileen - is that you? Pretty lady…I pictured you as a curly hair brunette Italian.
    WOWwee - how long have you had a blog?
    NICE video - I can’t believe you posted it.
    LOL
  214. ShannonP Says:
    lol Kelly’s post made me check out what she was talking about. I was way off on how I was picturing Aileen too and that Chelsea Lately video clip you showed was insane lol. Definitely made my breakfast go off track a little.
  216. Aileen Says:
    Heya Kell, TFF Most peeps do get a different picture of me the way I write. I live in a melting pot state and have mastered all the accents and unfortunately, it comes out in my blogging. My sister and I are hysterical when we are on a roll. My dad was a strict Irish Catholic and we were never allowed to use slang or mimick accents so its kinda funny.
    In regards to the video of my grandson, I cant stop watching it. Everytime I get to the part where he does the dip and wiggles.. I crack up! Now my son inlaw on the other hand did his best to hide his evil thoughts but somehow it came right through… his hand.. :roll:
    Shannon - That post with Amy Sedaris is hysterical and is so random who can flawlessly pull off such a skit. Sorry about your breakfast thou :twisted:
    Actually I like Bruce, and I liked the song, although I never heard it before.
    Had to watch the video of your grandson as well. He is DEFINATLY a sweet pea. :)
    to all of you hate mongers - how do you look at yourselves in the mirror.
    don’t you care about the negative democrat vibes you are putting out.
