The View January 13th Recap: Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford

by Winnie McCarthy

Today on The View, all five hosts were present again. The first topic was that Whoopi Goldberg is excited about Paul McCartney being on the show tomorrow. Joy Behar said that she saw him at the Russian Tea Room and was scared and ran away from him. Barbara Walters said that there a handful of people who are known around the world and he is one of them. Whoopi said that she gets recognized everywhere, usually based on her voice. Elisabeth Hasselbeck grew up listening to McCartney and is happy that her parents raised her with that music. Richard Belzer will be on tomorrow, as well.

Sherri Shepherd did a reading for Celebrity Autobiography last night and got to meet R&B singer Melba Moore, who is her father’s lifelong fantasy woman.

As a segue into the next topic about an invitation that Barbara received, Whoopi said to Barbara, “You are Barbara Walters. . . ” Barbara said, “You couldn’t tell by yesterday’s show.” Whoopi said that yesterday’s show is gone. Joy said, “like President Bush.” Barbara got a very large, fancy invitation that is for Steve Wynn’s birthday in Las Vegas. She is working that weekend and cannot go, so Elisabeth offered to go instead. It says “excessive attire” for the second day’s event and Joy said that means that you have to dress extravagantly. Joy said that she will re-use it for her Steve’s birthday, since it says Steve on it.

Joy told a story about how Barbara told Joy’s Steve that Joy was talking about him on the show the other day. Steve joked it must have been when Tom Cruise was on because he reminds Joy of Steve. Barbara said, “I don’t think so.”

Barbara’s hairstylist got an inauguration invitation, which Barbara showed off. (I got the same thing. It says it is a “commemorative invitation” in the accompanying letter and says that they know that most of us cannot make it to DC and encourages people to find celebrations in their area if they cannot attend. It is pretty fancy looking and my husband wants to frame it).

President Bush defended the handling of Hurricane Katrina yesterday, saying they took 30,000 people off of rooftops. He thought it would be disruptive if his helicopter landed there at the time. He also said that the Mission Accomplished banner was a mistake. (although Barbara mistakenly referred to it as “Mission Impossible.”) Elisabeth said that he is a good man and people owe him a debt of gratitude for keeping us safe. Joy said that attack was just a warning and it happened on his watch. Joy said that he called it a “disappointment” that there were no WMD. Elisabeth brought up Hillary Clinton who is going to be Secretary of State and Joy shouted at her not to change the subject and that we were talking about Bush. Joy said that he cherry-picked information to get Congress to vote for war and she has seen reports about Katrina and believes her own eyes, not Bush.

Sherri said that the people who waited for four days during Katrina for aid and food would feel differently about Bush. Whoopi said, “Here’s the best thing–he’s going to be gone next week.” Elisabeth said, “Let’s hope we’re just as safe. You throw your party.” Joy said that Elisabeth is one of the three people who still supports Bush. Elisabeth hopes that it won’t take decades for people to look back and appreciate Bush the way it did for Lincoln. Barbara said that he is not Lincoln. Whoopi said that after some time passes, the good things he did will rise to the top, like it did with Nixon. She added that no matter the new president, he was going to inherit a big pile of dog doo. Barbara said that, leaving aside politics, Bush is a good, warm man. Elisabeth said that we have the unique opportunity to critique our president and people will soon be critiquing Obama. Joy said that Rush Limbaugh is already blaming him for things that Bush has done.

Sarah Palin is speaking out about her portrayal during the campaign in a new documentary. They showed a clip where she talked about Caroline Kennedy and how she will be treated by the media. Palin thinks there may be a class issue between her portrayal versus Kennedy. Barbara said that Palin’s middle class status was part of her campaign and she used it as a positive thing to distance herself from the “elite.” Barbara said that Kennedy would not be a heartbeat away from the presidency and Kennedy has already been criticized. Barbara doesn’t know why Palin is still doing interviews and bringing up the class issue. She said it is disturbing. Elisabeth said that people did critique her for way she spoke. Joy said that she (Joy) gets criticism for the way she talks. Sherri said that putting the term “elite” on Obama is not fair because he did what he was supposed to do by getting a Ivy League education. Whoopi said that there was a huge amount of scrutiny of Palin because no one knew who she was and also Palin’s “brand of ebonics” came under scrutiny because people want others to speak properly. Joy said that Palin also complained about Tina Fey, but she willingly went to SNL.

Gossip Girl stars Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick appeared on the show. They are roommates in real life. Joy asked them if they are a couple or just roommates and Chace said, “Joy, I knew you were going to do this to me.” They keep the place tidy because they have a cleaning lady. Ed is British in real life and has the American accent down for the show. Whoopi said that she could not tell by watching the show that Ed was British.

Chace said that you have to control what comes into your headspace in order to deal with tabloids. Ed said that you can’t be imprisoned by your own choices and he is proud they have all been able to handle it with grace. Chace said that the kind of show creates that kind of gossip and buzz.

Barbara asked if they think they have influence on teenagers who watch. Ed said that he hopes they realize the show is a heightened sense of reality. He added that they are not responsible for the storylines. He said that it does show consequences. Joy said that the clothes they wear on the show are weird, calling it “Prince Charles on acid.”

Chace and Ed did not want to give away any upcoming details about the plot of the show. Whoopi jokingly asked, “Do you think we will discover that one of the guys is a girl?” Chace said maybe in season five.

Deidre Imus appeared on the show to talk about green foods and share recipes. She and husband Don eat all organic foods and are vegetarian, but do eat some dairy. Their child has never had fast food or meat. Whoopi had a funny look of disdain on her face while Deidre talked about not eating meat. She refused to try to eat anything that Deidre offered, except for some raspberries.

Sherri tried a veggie burger and said it was good. Deidre also showed off homemade granola, burritos, and organic three bean salad. Sherri said that she is worried about the gas with all the beans and no meat. Deidre said that you are eating lots of whole grains. Barbara asked if this will make you skinny, saying something about Don. Deidre said the goal is to be fit and healthy, not skinny. Whoopi agreed with that. Deidre said that it can be less expensive to eat this way than for people who eat meat and you should prioritize if organic things are more expensive.

One of the cattle on the Imus’s ranch is named Barbara Walters and Don named the cow’s granddaughter Rosie, which got a laugh from the crowd. Barbara said the next baby should be named Whoopi. Whoopi said she would rather be a chicken.

Deidre also showed biscuits made with spelt with organic butter on top. She encourages no processed food, no bleached food, no corn syrup, no phony stuff. Whoopi said something about needing a little phony, which I thought was strange because she is often so against high fructose corn syrup.

What was the point of Barbara showing us the invitation to Steve Wynn’s birthday party other than to say “I have fancy schmanzy friends and you don’t”?

How does Elisabeth know Bush has kept us safe the past 7 years. Maybe our enemies are sitting back and watching us destroy ourselves.

I wonder if Sarah Palin eats brie or gouda with her whine.

Elisabeth talks about elitism while living in a multi-million dollar apartment. And I’ve seen pics of her daughter. Her outfits aren’t from GapKids.

    I LOVE Gossip Girl.

And at the beginning of the show why did they introduce Deidre Imus as Don Imus’s wife? The woman has her own identity.

Regarding Paul McCartney tomorrow, the betting is now open on how quickly Barbara brings up Heather Mills.

  2. Kelly Says:

GREAT JOB JOY – Hold her flag-waving trunk to the fire.

OUT right lies about Bush keeping us safe. Seaport containers went unchecked for 5 years until Democratic Congress pushed for reform. Homeland security extortionists bankrupted Americans while turning millionaires into billionaires and killing mid-size airports. Bush tried to sell America’s seaports to the United Arab Emirates and was caught red-handed by his own administration. The FBI’s 2002-2005 terrorism report shows that there were three times more domestic incidents (24) in the four years following the 9/11 attacks under Bush than there were (8) in the four years following the first world trade center attacks under Clinton. And that’s will BILLIONS thrown into Homeland Security on Bush’s watch.

    AND

RAND Corporation show that the global rate of terrorism, as measured by the number of people killed per year, increased by almost fivefold during the Bush presidency. And according to the government’s own terrorism statistics, 2007 was the worst year ever, with over 22,000 people killed worldwide.

Bush is not a decent man. He waged America’s first unlawful war based on manipulated ‘intelligence’ and is now trying to blame his intel people. Ah-sucks country boy charm is not decency. 9/11 happened on his watch. He had intelligence warning him of impending airplane attacks; he ignored them. He called off the FBI from investigating bin Laden.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlWSv0NZBRw&feature=related

He had zero federal response to Katrina victims for 4 days while he ate cake with McCain. The helicopter “drivers’ (or what normal people call ‘pilots’), were part of a local response, not to be credited to Bush. He hired a horse wrangler from Texas to head FEMA instead of a competent experienced adult. He authorized $1 billion for Katrina ($124.9 million was pocketed by Halliburton leaving squat for rebuild), but throws $10 billion a month to Iraq War profiteers…including Halliburton. The Pentagon reported that Halliburton failed to account for 43% of its expenses in the Middle East. Military audits determined the company had $1 billion in “questioned” expenses in Iraq and $442 million in “unsupported” expenses in 2005 alone.

Halliburton continued to pay Cheney $200,000 per year despite Cheney’s claim that he had severed all ties with Halliburton upon becoming VP AND after accepting a multi-million dollar severance package from Halliburton. Halliburtonwatch.org

Yeah, good one Babs. I’ll also “try not to throw-up.”

Joy – you were fabulous today.

    Liars, Bigger Liars, and Revisionists.

  3. rainlillie Says:

“Mission Impossible.” Yes BW , it was. Didn’t TLB slight Bush when she said “McCain isn’t Bush?” BW and TLB have lowered the standards when it comes to “good men.”

  4. rainlillie Says:

    Hey Kelly,

    You’ve nailed it!

  5. May Says:

First off, Kelly wish you would be the one talking in Joy’s ear like Bill is advising EH in her ear.
EH is out of her mind, liking bush to Abe. She has visions of grandeur for bush as well as Palin. What a putz! Glad Bawa told her she was in the 30% of folks that approve of dunderhead.
Joy did get her 2cents worth in..gladly.
When the guys from “Gossip Girl” came on EH went gaga over them and took over the interview. It must give her an ego boost to think she’s a “chick” to them. Bwaa-ha-ha.
I did enjoy the food segment, entertaining and good info. Laughed when Sherri said she was putting the vegetarian meat into the vegetarian vegetables.

  6. MiamiVision Says:

susieq: great, great post! Sarah Palin, I do not think, neither eats brie or gouda - probably eats heavily processed amer. cheese slices - (really not cheese LOL).

Hey Kelly, LTNS! Also great, great post!! Only ONE WEEK FROM TODAY-I cannot wait for the new administration!

    CYA on a rerun *grins*

  7. Diana Says:

“Joy shouted at [Elizabeth] not to change the subject…” And just when I had successfully not watched the View yet! Now I *must* tivo today’s show just for this nugget, lol. I watched the clip of Ann Coulter’s appearance. I have no words but kudos to all here for yesterday’s rational discussion re: Ann Coulter “the tranny mess” (so very not PC but funny, to me anyway!)

Like others, I do see tension on the panel, especially watching Joy whenever EH speaks. EH also looks especially unhappy whenever the topic doesn’t suit her views.

  8. Roger from Ohio Says:

Lets not talk about yesterday’s show because it is in the past…. gone
Remember when Tom Cruse was on …. oooooh how exciting!!

surprise surprise, there was another “disrespected” food segment. Whoopi didnt “steal” food…. she just made faces because it was different. Sherri just ate it for the same reason that people climb mountains…. because it is there.

I dont understand why they continue to do this.

  9. Kelly Says:

    Aw-shucks: Thanks rain.

(not “Ah-sucks” as I previously posted, although I like berndoubts Golden Globe/Tina Fey response: Suck it)

Just don’t get me started on Palin and her victimization…this coming from a woman who called Obama a terrorist and socialist.

  10. kaytee Says:

Well they did not talk about yesterday, I was a little disappointed. I really would love for someone to point out that the single mother attack was just horrible and tell me why it does not apply to the right…wink, wink - Sarah Palin’s daughter. But anyway, EH really makes me want to puke by trying to get everyone to see GB as she does, out of rose colored lenses! (really rose colored) The most I can feel for the man is sorry, I kind of feel sorry for him because he was just that awful and he knows it, but he’s trying to change everyone’s mind so that history will be kind to him.
She needs to let it go and move on. We have.

  11. susieq Says:

Roger, they continue to do this because it’s their schtick. They all are playing a part. Even Joy but I do think she’s playing closest to her actual self.

Next Halloween they should play each other. Maybe they would get a glimpse of how they are viewed.

  12. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #7 Diane–

Like others, I do see tension on the panel, especially watching Joy whenever EH speaks. EH also looks especially unhappy whenever the topic doesn’t suit her views.

I just wanna make it clear here…. the tension comes when Elisabeth defends Bush and his failed policies like they were successful.

I said yesterday, but it needs to be said again today…. When Bill Clinton kept us safe after the 1993 World Trade Center attack, he did it without torturing anyone. Bush CHOSE to use torture to “defend” the America people…. I dont wish to be defended in that manner…. I prefer the way that Bill Clinton kept us safe.

I wish that this point was spoken about more often.

  13. rainlillie Says:

The only people who would have a negative view of Bush are the people who have suffered or have compassion for those who have suffered, due to his policies. TLB isn’t one of them. I’m not surprised she thinks he’s a “good man, ” who got a bad rap.

I would be shocked if she thought otherwise. I had her number when she tried everything she could to defend torture. That’s who she is. Don’t let the cute stories about her children her looks or anything else fool you.

  14. ShannonP Says:

I’m going to watch the food segment today because that’s right up my alley. I’m vegetarian and try to eat organic/whole foods as much as possible and I also want to raise my kids never eating meat and no fast food.
Why would Whoopi act like that is so gross? Heaven forbid we should put healthy, nutritious food into our bodies.

  15. Kelly Says:

I would love to be Joy’s EAR GHOST – great idea May.

Hi MiamiVision – (I know, I still have to check my messages). I won’t be able to watch tomorrow, GOPmom is coming to visit and the show makes her break out in a rash. LOL

    Poor Paul McCartney.

  16. misslingdow Says:

Did anyone catch what led up to Whoopie saying she was paid to be the moderator?

I thought it was so odd they didn’t want to discuss yesterday’s show. Normally they are proud as peacock’s when they feel they put someone in their place.

When BW said Mission Impossible I just shook my head, wow she needs to be off more days than she is on camera, it is just painful to watch.

  17. kaytee Says:

    Exactly Kelly.
Palin is a “hot mess”! This is getting so old. And EH defending her and Bush is so boring. No one victimized Palin! SHE did the victimizing of Obama and some these news pundits really should bring that out. I’ve given up on the View panel, they would have to hear it on another news show.

  18. rainlillie Says:

#9. Kelly, you’re welcome. Palin is so irrelevant. I turn the channel whenever she’s on. Yes it may be a class issue with her and Kennedy. Kennedy has class and well Palin…

  19. ShannonP Says:

I don’t think Bush has kept us safe. I don’t think any President can. If terrorists want to attack, they will. I think they can do things to increase our safety in general, but I don’t think they can across the board prevent an attack.
EH has such a naive, simplistic view on things. She has no personal experience with a loved one in this war, or being poor or without medical insurance or a job right now, so her opinion just is based on what she knows in her own safe world. It’s just not the same for what people are going through right now.

  20. rainlillie Says:

    ShannonP ,
I live in a house full of Vegetarians. My hubby and two children. I have been converted too. It’s not as strange as some people make it out to be. It’s all about seasoning for me.

  21. ShannonP Says:

How cool Rain, I didn’t know that. It’s getting more commonplace because of all the health problems we face in America and what they are putting in meat now. My husband used to be a hard core meat eater and now he just eats fish. So he hasn’t fully converted, but I’m happy about the steps he’s taken.

  22. susieq Says:

ShannonP, I agree about Elisabeth. She sees the world as to how it relates to her. Even when her hubby loses a job there is another not far behind. Must be nice to not have to send out resumes.

I wonder what would have become of her if she hadn’t appeared on Survivor. Anybody want to hazard a guess?

  23. Hallie Says:

Apparently Rove, Bush, et al have enlisted the Hasselbecks in the Bush Rehab Campaign, complete with all the perks. How much comp you think she’s getting?

  24. rainlillie Says:

“When Bill Clinton kept us safe after the 1993 World Trade Center attack, he did it without torturing anyone. Bush CHOSE to use torture to “defend” the America people…. I dont wish to be defended in that manner…. I prefer the way that Bill Clinton kept us safe.”

    Most excellent point, Roger.

  25. Vegas Says:

    #1 Susieq…
Actually, Elisabeth does shop at GapKids for Grace. I remember seeing one photo of Elisabeth and Grace and Grace was wearing something that I had just seen in Gapkids display window. That store usually has cute outfits, but this particular item was hideous. I wouldn’t give Elisabeth so much credit for the way she dresses her kids. She has no clue how to dress her daughter cute, and just because she dresses them in Burberry most of the time doesn’t make a difference. She needs to stop putting giant bows on the side of Graces head. She is almost 4 and it looks ridiculous.

  26. rainlillie Says:

    ShannonP,
I’m working on my mother. She has health issues and meat is just not something she should eat. The schools are now offering alternatives to meat too.

  27. May Says:

Yes to vegetarians. I’d like to eat more that way. I’ve bought a juicer from the old guy we see on tv for juicing carrots, veggies, etc and I do feel better when I do that but still want a burger now and again.
That chain around the neck of EH today looked like something that I would like to see Joy and Whoopi tighten around her adams apple for about 5 good minutes. Oh what a relief it would be!

  28. Julianne Says:

EH is a hypocrite. If you work 4 hours a week then go back to your Upper West Side apartment, how can you speak to what people in New Orleans suffered during Hurricane Katrina.

Bush may be a nice guy (I wouldn’t know) but he’s been an awful President.

EH also seems to think it’s rocket science to inform us that people will criticize Obama. Ya’ think? Someome might criticize the US President? She’s an idiot.

  29. Kelly Says:

How did you all like Bitsy show-and-tell item?

I wonder how much Bush spent on those orange Homeland Security Patriotic Emergency Response Terror Alert backpacks?

Probably as much as would have been required to treat the medical conditions of our first responders at ground zero.

Notice how at the end of Bush’s term…
-gas prices have dropped dramatically and inexplicably (the “Saudis lied” )
-Homeland Security terror alerts have vanished (where did the stickers go?)
    -whistleblowers are bravely coming forward
-GOP vote flipper Mike Connell dies in a ‘single-engine’ plane crash
-and we suddenly have a withdrawal date for our troops

HOW WEIRD is that? What happen to all the evil doers and hysteria?

  30. ShannonP Says:

    “ShannonP,
I’m working on my mother. She has health issues and meat is just not something she should eat. The schools are now offering alternatives to meat too.”

Good luck Rain! My parents are not receptive at all to it. Trying to talk to them about anything is a lost cause, but that’s another story.
I don’t think I’d feed anything a school provided to my kids, but it’s good that they are offering alternatives now.

  31. Deko and Posh Says:

OMG…Love Chace! Love that Bush is leaving! Can’t wait to never see him again.

    L8R…Deko and Posh

  32. rainlillie Says:

    Thanks Shannon,
It’s not an east task. My mother is an old “southern gal” she thinks everything has to be fried.

  33. rainlillie Says:

    oops.. should say “easy” .

  34. Stacee Says:

Julianne Says: “Bush may be a nice guy (I wouldn’t know) but he’s been an awful President. ”

    MY RESPONSE: Exactly.
    Well stated, Julianne.

  35. joey Says:

Yes EH, history will look more kindly on Bush’s presidency…that is if the historians start taking crack for breakfast.

    Sorry…I couldn’t resist…

  36. susieq Says:

While we’re on the subject of food, they had Sherri who always looks gluttonous when doing a food segment, Barbara who seems very picky, and Whoopie who claims to never eat do this segment. Why? Joy who seems like she has knowledge of food didn’t participate.
If the producers think we find Sherri’s and Whoopie’s theatrics amusing they’re wrong.

  37. rainlillie Says:

    Joey,

LOL! It should matter more to him what people think of him now, not what people who didn’t live through his presidency will think.

  38. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #22 susieq–

I wonder what would have become of her if she hadn’t appeared on Survivor. Anybody want to hazard a guess?

She would have turned out to be a “football” wife…. dragging her kids along to watch daddy sit the bench.

  39. mibi Says:

Joy said that he called it a “disappointment” that there were no WMD. Elisabeth brought up Hillary Clinton who is going to be Secretary of State and Joy shouted at her not to change the subject and that we were talking about Bush.

omg was this as exciting as it sounded. i cant wait to see how this disscusion went. (tell them why you mad joy tell them why you mad. lol)

as for Palin she can say what she likes and feel however she wants that her truth but i really think she let herself be badly mishandled and misadvised and it will be hard and take time to corret.

    peace and love

  40. Aileen Says:

    misslingdow Says:

Did anyone catch what led up to Whoopie saying she was paid to be the moderator?

Yes, BW and EH was talking over her again and it visibly frustrated Whoops where she abandoned her chance to make her point. BW told her to go ahead.. and she was like.. peepooood. They seem to be more agitated each day and not holding back for the sake of Bawbwa Wawwa..

    I’m just saying..,.

  41. Real Says:

    EH looks pregnant.

  42. susieq Says:

Roger, Daddy don’t sit on the bench anymore, he sits behind a desk a couple days a week at ESPN. Hmmm, ESPN is part of ABC. Hmmm his last nonplaying job was a short-lived gig with Fox Sports. Hmmm ABC and Fox.

With a nod to Aileen, I’m just saying….

  43. Kelly Says:

A 2006 report compiled by House Republicans slammed what it called “a failure of leadership,” saying that the federal government’s “blinding lack of situational awareness and disjointed decision making needlessly compounded and prolonged Katrina’s horror.”

The report specifically blamed Bush, noting that “earlier presidential involvement could have speeded the response” because the president alone could have cut through bureaucratic resistance.

    – National Guard troops did not arrive in the area until two full days after the levees were breached.

    – Bush did not leave his vacation home or assemble a task force until Wednesday, two days after the hurricane made landfall and the levees were breached.

    – By Thursday, three days after landfall, FEMA had yet to set up a command and control center.

    – FEMA Director Michael Brown said he had not heard about the more than 3,000 evacuees stranded in the convention center until Thursday. Many evacuees had been there since Tuesday morning.

    – On Friday morning, Bush praised Brown: “Brownie, you’re doing a heckuva job.” He also said he was “satisfied with the response.”

    – FEMA did not finalize its request for evacuation buses until Sunday, six days after Katrina hit. The buses “trickled into New Orleans, with only a dozen or so arriving the first day,” noted the Wall Street Journal.

    – The Superdome was finally evacuated on Sunday, a full seven days after 30,000 evacuees had arrived there.

“Despite a FEMA official’s eyewitness accounts of breaches starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 29,” the Bush administration “did not consider them confirmed” until 11 hours later. In fact, FEMA did not order the evacuation of New Orleans until 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 31, two full days after Katrina made landfall.

In one area, however, the Bush administration did move quickly: pinning the blame for Katrina on its political opponents.

  44. mibi Says:

oh and for every good/positive thing bushed did or tried / wanted to do in my opion he let like five things laps, get messed up or left unsustanable. sorry bush i’m look forward to the 20 th

  45. kaytee Says:

yep…sorry Bush and sorry EH, I’m definitely looking forward to the 20th!

  46. dana Says:

George Bush didn’t keep the victims in the World Trade Centers safe.

  47. Jennie Says:

I laughed when Babs said Mission Impossible. It is soo true! The war has been the mission impossible. She speaks the truth w/o even knowing it!

Oh and I noticed that EH said today that “the people didn’t want to get to know SP”. Really?! The requesting that she do more interviews and answer questions wasn’t our trying to get to know her???!!! All we wanted to do is attack this innocent beauty queen from Alaska. Oh! Boooo Hou Houuuu….

  48. Kelly Says:

At least 1,836 people lost their lives (705 missing) in the actual hurricane and in the subsequent floods, making it the deadliest U.S. hurricane since the 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane. The storm is estimated to have been responsible for $81.2 billion (2005 U.S. dollars) in damage, making it the costliest tropical cyclone in U.S. history.

It is estimated that the total economic impact in Louisiana and Mississippi may exceed $150 billion

  49. rainlillie Says:

I just watched the clip of the Hot Topics. TLB had a prop and everything. The pain and suffering he has caused is so enormous it won’t go away after January 20. It will take years, and for some it will never go away.

Ann talked about single parents yesterday, how many men and women became single parents after losing their spouse in this unnecessary war? Bush isn’t a good man, I know this based on his actions.

  50. Roger from Ohio Says:

Im looking forward to the 19th….

We are having a “going away party” for George W Bush. Im thinking about giving a speech.

President Obama said something along the lines of No one is above the law, he will want to “look forward” when asked if he will set up an independent investigator in the Bush Administration.

I want to say this to him…. He can look forward and still have an investigation. An investigation will bring out the truth that has been hidden for so long in the Bush Administration. I would much rather have an investigation that has all the thoughts and ideas that I have had about this administration be proven wrong, then have no investigation at all.

Maybe if President Obama doesnt see the political advantage of investigating, maybe a private individual or company could do the investigating. The government could “cooperate” with that “private” investigation.

  51. ShannonP Says:

I just made it through half the food segment and Whoopi was ticking me off so much I stopped it. WE GET IT allfrikenready…Whoopi thinks health food and people that don’t eat meat are morons. Does she really need to butcher the whole segment just to get that across? It made a joke of it. For the first time that I remember, they had someone on that actually was speaking the way I think about food and our bodies and there’s Whoopi the whole time with the sour disrespectful face and noises and desperate to get it all about her and the audiences reaction to her. They knew what this woman was about before she came on. If Whoopi can’t handle herself in a mature way, get the hell off the stage and let people who can do the interview. I mean seriously, to have such a cynical person there the whole time was a waste of having that guest on the show.

  52. Jennie Says:

Shannon I agree! I must admitt it sounds strange to hear about not eating meat because it’s something that most people do. Just because it’s not the norm we shouldn’t knock it. Whoopi should be more open to the idea. I’m sure a lot of it tastes great! We should be teaching our children about nutrition in schools and changing our eating habits.

  55. Diane Says:

My mantra: One week from today…one week from today….like your ideas Roger.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when Hasselbeck did a “show and tell” with that orange back pack. My husband works in Manhattan, and many of friends live and since there (since 9/11), I have NEVER seen or heard of these back packs…anybody else that lives in the NYC area heard of them ? For that matter, why didn’t Hasslebeck bring out som e duck tape and Crazy Glue - they cure and fix everything.

Remember the security color code system inplemented by Tom Ridge and the Dept. of HOMELAND Security just after 9-11 ?BTW what happened to that ? I was waiting for a nice shade of teal to get alarmed .By the way, have any of you realized the subliminal implications of Bush/Cheney/Rove and Company suing the term “HOMELAND” security?? That’s no accident. More to say on that later.

  56. Diane Says:

Correction to my sev’l typos - working on that for 2009. Sorry.

“using” the term homeland , not suing

  57. ShannonP Says:

Jennie, when I hear people knocking the taste of it when they haven’t even tried it…I think they sound just as ignorant as Elisabeth does when she talks about politics always on one side.
Whoopi smokes, eats junk food, potato chips, meat etc. When she’s in the hospital with cancer or a heart attack, I don’t think she’ll be thinking it’s so funny then. I completely agree with you about teaching our kids. And it’s just so simple too. Another thing I hate to hear parents ask is how they can disguise the vegetables to make their kids eat it. When I hear that, I think there is a parent not doing their job.

  58. rainlillie Says:

I’m a New Yorker and I’ve never heard of those backpacks.

  59. Diane Says:

    Kelly, fantastic job recapping FACTS.

“WE NEVER COULD HAVE ANTICIPATED THE BREACH OF THE LEVEES.”

  60. Diane Says:

Thanks Rain. Happy you are in my neck of the woods !

  61. Jennie Says:

Lived in NYC after attacks and never saw or heard of those backpacks. Where did she get hers? The white house? ROTFL

  62. joey Says:

We aren’t by any means complete vegetarians, but I have for years incorporated a lot of vegetarian recipes into our diet. They are by far the tastiest of all our meals and while I find they take a bit more time the results are well worthwhile. We also feel better when cut way back on the meat and limit the dairy. We love the “Moosewood” cookbook series.

  63. berndoubt Says:

Five interviewers. Two guests. One subject for a minute-and-a-half. How do you sound like an American when you are from Britain? Really? Wow. And Barbara, did you really say “you’re talking American” and “Great Britainish”? Amazing interview. Submit this tape for Emmy consideration.

It’s a beautiful day for talking American.

  64. Kelly Says:

    Thanks Diane

Jennie - LOL (the White House selling orange Homeland backpacks and terror alert stickers).

Bush knew well in advance of the pending emergency in New Orleans. He didn’t act on the reports, he didn’t share intelligence, he didn’t listen to the Army Corps of Engineer’s request for money that could have prevented the flooding, and he didn’t have the horse wrangler coordinate with Mayor Ray Nagin (who is a hero to those people - they re-elected him in 2006).

THE IRAQ WAR WILL COST US $3 TRILLION, AND MUCH MORE
“The Iraq adventure has seriously weakened the U.S. economy, whose woes now go far beyond loose mortgage lending. You can’t spend $3 trillion — yes, $3 trillion — on a failed war abroad and not feel the pain at home.”
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/07/AR2008030702846.html

But when Bush sold his war, his administration officials insisted that the costs would be more like $50 billion to $60 billion.

2nd Vid showing lack of respect for Obama…

Did you notice in this 2nd video, at the 4:01 mark, Barbara Walters came in and interrupted Sherri, after she pointed out John McCain’s affair? The whole 4 min previously Elisabeth was hammering Obama and his associates. But when they start speaking the truth about the republican… it is time to be quiet and be more respectful

Are you sure that Barbara Walters isnt a Republican? because for a “democrat” or “independent” she sure is pretty right wing.

  67. marthe Says:

Well, Joy did prompt eh to tell how her parents raised her on beatles music. babs interrupts to have paul’s cd passed to her and then doesn’t remember why she wants it?

I seem to recall that eh was part of the “some people” calling the obamas elitist.

I think somebody on Dumbya’s staff finally filled him in on the likelihood that he won’t be commanding 6 figure speaker fees like Clinton did. He is so incurious he reportedly has not even seen a picture of the Dallas house Laura picked out.

Why does the Imus family raise longhorn cattle if they are all vegetarians?

I watched Martha Stewart yesterday and a vegetarian in the audience asked what cut of meat would she recommend for a dinner party. Martha responded, why in the world should she serve a meat dish? Trot out a couple of your prized veggie dishes.

I was just thinking yesterday that a friend who tried to steer me veggie was probably just not a very good cook. For instance, he made bean burritos once, but didn’t presoak the beans. And I didn’t like his kale dish.

  68. marthe Says:

Rog, I think all the boyfriends mentioned in BWs book were Republican.

  69. Kelly Says:

THE VACATION PRESIDENT - RECORD HOLDER
    (we did misunderestimate him)

Before 9-11 Bush had spent about a third of his presidency on vacation. Post 9-11, a third of his presidency was still spent on vacation.

So in 7 years, Bush takes 879 days of vacation – that breaks down to:

-125 days a YEAR on vacation
-estimated 1004 vacation days through 2008

3 YEARS out of 8 YEARS spent on vacation

The previous presidential vacation-time record holder was the late Ronald Reagan, who tallied 436 days in his two terms.

CBS News: (March 2008) President Bush recently spent his 879th day at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, since the Supreme Court, in all its great wisdom, elevated him to the presidency. This according to NPR’s “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me,” which noted that Bush broke former President Reagan’s record for taking vacations from the White House. It’s interesting to recall, all these wild years later, that George W. Bush did not decide to buy the ranch near Crawford until after he decided to run for president. Apparently, after Ronald Reagan’s example, it seemed presidential to cut brush on a ranch…”

Wish I had seen the cooking segment. Not for Whoopie’s inane antics, but for a different point of view(Wow! what a concept!)and to find new recipes. My husband and I are not vegetarians, but love to eat healthy and delicious food. And more times than not, vegetables are the focus of our meals.
Joey, I use the Moosewood cookbook a lot. Our daughter went to college in Ithaca and we loved to eat at Moosewood. We were in the area a few months ago and stopped in for lunch–yum!

  71. Aileen Says:

I’m a Jersey Girl who worked on the trade center at that time who also did not hear of those backpacks.

It amazes me that for the second day in a row, EH is trying to sell to the viewers that GWB is a “Good Man” because she met with him for 15 minutes. Does a “Good Man” leave thousands of people stranded for days without food, water or shelter? We all knew about it watching CNN and other news channels how come he supposedly didnt know about it? Is that the action of a good man? Does a “good man” condone torture on possibly innocent men and woman? Does a “good man” violate our civil liberties where we can not even protest or use our free speech without being beaten and jailed? Do we remember the Taguba report on the torture in Abu Grab? Even woman were sodomized. Under the administration of a “good man”? A family man? Sheesh if those few demonstrated actions of an US president describes a “Good Man” I would hate to see what a despicable man looks like in EH (the turd) eyes.

    I’m just saying…..

  72. southernexplosion Says:

I love Whoopi” i really do but sometime i find her to be a Hypocrite about health remember the time Whoopi was talking about the fructose corn syrup being in the food and how bad it is and wanted the government to take it out and banned it. But when someone come on the show and talk about healthy food she just joke about it and make faces and do stupid stuff that not call for maybe the audience wanted to know about it you don’t know. How could any one took this heath segment seriously i didnt. So Whoopi you can joke but sometime there a time a place to be funny and time to get serious. and Sherry just sitting there eating like a cow. taste the food once and give your opinion but please stop eating wow the camera still rolling wait after the show has ended to keep eating.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/lester94111?ob=4

As for Paul McCartney, BW scored that appearance tomrrow on The View, as her cousin, Nancy Shevell, is Paul’s big love today.

Re: Tomorrow, like you said, Kel…. “poor Paul”

    LOL

  75. MiamiVision Says:

I’ve been a news junkie since 9/11/01 and a New Yorker originally and was in NYC on 9/11/01 - and since then have never ever heard or seen anything about those orange backpacks.

I agree with the poster who said EH probably picked that up in the White House, and I think maybe they had a surplus of them that THEY NEVER HANDED OUT.

  76. susieq Says:

Miami, that’s right I forgot about that connection. BW is so pathetic she probably asked her cousin to ask Paul to appear.

I am so glad to read that I am not the only one who thought EH was comparing GWB to Lincoln. OMG

I miss The View I loved when the program first came on… until after the Star fiasco and Meredith left. I miss it a lot. NOw they just yell over each other, not listening to anyone but the sound of their own voice. It is not a conversation by any definition.

  86. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #85 berndoubt–

I don’t think anyone else has addressed the “Rosie” comment from Deirdre Imus today and Whoopi’s reaction.

When I saw Whoopi’s reaction, my first thought was….. did she have some kind of agreement that Rosie cant be spoken about? Where Whoopi didnt want to be compared to Rosie?

It seems to me that there has to be something behind the “Rosie’s name is not to be spoken” Id love to hear the reasons.

  87. Jennie Says:

Ok, so this Deirdre lady is married to Don Imus. He is the guy on the radio who called the girls on a basketball team nappy headed hoes and jiggaboos.

    Am I surprised he named a cow Rosie?…No. Impressed..No

  88. susieq Says:

I wonder if they purposely had Whoopie and Sherri do that segment with Deidre Imus because of what her husband said a couple years ago. If I remember correctly during that time Barbara felt bad about what was happening to Don Imus. And you know Bill Geddie, anything to help out a Republican.

I have nothing against Deidre but what her husband said was ignorant.

  89. ShannonP Says:

“I have nothing against Deidre but what her husband said was ignorant.”

I never followed Imus enough to really know much about him. But I read he’s had a long history of saying offensive things, this is the one that just got him in trouble over it. And if a woman is married to a man, she takes some accountability in how he is, that is just my opinion. It always bugs me when I hear how a man is an arsehole, but the wife is “such a good woman” If she’s such a good woman, why is she married to and tolerating such an arsehole? Usually what you have is a weak woman afraid to confront her husband.

  90. Jennie Says:

I’m gonna pull an EH here and say that Deidre is guilty by association!

  91. joey Says:

I think Whoppi was surprised and amused by the irony of a cow named BW having a granddaughter named Rosie…I believe the anti Rosie sentiment comes mainly from BW, BG, and EH. I think Joy and Whoopi get what happened to Rosie and just go with the flow cuz that’s what they’re paid to do.

    AND

“WTF? I never got one of those bags.”

LOL - and this from Daily Kos:
“President Bush is incapable of self-reflection, let alone guilt or regret — a common trait of psychopaths, as is glib and superficial charm, a grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, lack of remorse, shallow affect, callousness and lack of empathy, early behavioral problems, lack of realistic long-term goals, and failure to accept responsibility for one’s actions. Bush identifies the failure to find WMD in Iraq as “a significant disappointment,” but not his decision to invade Iraq in the first place? Seriously?”

Kelly, you’re killing me with the Bush vacation day recap. I mean that in a good way about your investigative journalism. I’m saving that data.

And just when I read the last posts for the evening, have a glass of Merlot, and try to relax - I read the Coulter quote about “lower level animals…liberals.”UGHHHH!!

Friends, I know we’ve all said it inside out, over and upsidedown about Coulter, but I stay tuned for justice towards her - and that it becomes public…a pie throwing…poor book sales….no more boyfiends….a torn, worn out little black cocktail dress….banishment from the Republican Kingdom…some scandal…? I can only hope.

Watch it again Elsie…. she was “fighting off mosquitoes” because they were talking in her ear, not because of what EH was saying.

I swear to you not to many guest that comes onto the View nowadays feels comfortable with Elisabeth. I’m no body language expert, but if you watch the greetings of host from the guest 9 out of 10 of them only shake EH’s hand and gives the other host a hug & kiss. They also seem hesitant to acknowledge her questions much less answer them. Please ViewMaster in charge….Remove this bimbo from the show!! I swear the only reason I watch the View(sometimes) is because I’m waiting to see someone smack the sh*t out of her. She is not a fit for this type of format.

  101. Roger from Ohio Says:

Re: The Infamous Orange ” Will Keep Us All Safe” Hasselbeck/Bush Back Packs

Speculation is the key to this post… I watched the segment only once, and I have never heard of these back packs either.

When she showed the back pack…. she said something along the lines…. we should be grateful that these were never needed.

Where these backpacks meant to be distributed after the next attack in America? Were they going to be used to “protect” our cities?

What things were meant to be kept in them? I think I remember her saying something about having to fill the backpacks before she said that we should be grateful that they werent needed.

What kinds of things was our government expecting that they didnt want to share with us?

  102. Jennie Says:

Hey Lisa! We should watch together then, because I am watching for the same reason. I’d love a view smack down!

Why don’t they do a show where the audience gets to ask the girls questions? That might be good….

  103. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #102 Jennie–

Why don’t they do a show where the audience gets to ask the girls questions? That might be good….

now that is an interesting idea Jennie….. if you were in the audience, what one and only one question would you ask to our esteemed hosts?

  104. Lopez Says:

“Thanks all for agreeing that you never heard of them…and Lopez - see ya next time I come thru Penn Station !!”

Look for me. I’ll be the one wearing the backpack. LOL

  105. Lopez Says:

I’d like to ask Sherri how she reconciles her anti-abortion stance when she has two fertalized eggs that she most likely will never carry to full term. I’d like to tell her she is practicing prochoice while at the same time condemning it.

  106. kaytee Says:

Wow, Lopez. I love it. you are so right.

  107. Stacee Says:

Jennie Says: “I’m gonna pull an EH here and say that Deidre is guilty by association!”

    MY RESPONSE: LOL!!! :-D

  108. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #105 Lopez–

Nice question…. that strikes both ways…. I doubt she could answer and she would just look stunned.

  109. berndoubt Says:

I would ask something along the same lines as Lopez, which would be, how does your political stance jibe with your personal, spiritual and/or religious beliefs? In other words (as nearly not President Bush says to emphasize his point), who would Jesus bomb? Who would Jesus deny rights? Who would Jesus deport? Who would Jesus invade? Who would Jesus wiretap? Who would Jesus torture? Who would Jesus judge by association? On that last point, if we remember our Sunday school at all, Jesus hung out with prostitutes and common criminals. He preached caring for the least of his brothers and I’m sure he didn’t just mean the unborn.

i think its because shes the first co-host that is on the couch, so they dont really know what to do, and sherri always goes in for a kiss so i think they just kiss all the others aswell.
    just my option.

  111. GraceKelly Says:

A class distinction between Sarah Palin and Caroline Kennedy????? YOU BETCHA!!!!

  112. berndoubt Says:

#110, Jenny from Australia, I agree that it may be less of a snub and more confusion that causes guests to not greet Elisabeth warmly, but I think it also may be her less than warm vibe and social awkwardness that keeps people from automatically going in for the hug or kiss. Sherri goes for the hug or kiss and people just follow suit. Elisabeth is stiff and formal and guests seem to be, too. She extends her hand for a shake stiffly and doesn’t seem to move towards the guest. I’m not sure why I noticed this, but maybe it’s because so many times she doesn’t get the warm greeting, so I watched to see why.

  113. Diane Says:

Berndoubt - #109 - “…who would Jesus bomb? Who would Jesus deny rights? Who would Jesus deport? Who would Jesus invade? Who would Jesus wiretap? Who would Jesus torture? He preached caring for the least of his brothers and I’m sure he didn’t just mean the unborn….”

    Very well said.

If I could ask a question, it would be this:
“Elizabeth, …if you support the war in Iraq so much, why hasn’t your husband , Tim, enlisted for service? They could undoubtedly use a young, healthy ex-footballer like him.”

  114. ShannonP Says:

The whole way they have the panel set up for greeting is silly. A celebrity shouldn’t have to come out and hug 4 or 5 women before starting an interview and then sit on a couch that they are at risk of falling off the stage on.
If you guys could redo the set for a more inviting atmosphere, what would you do?

  115. berndoubt Says:

Here’s a clip of Elisabeth on Hannity the other night and it’s worth watching just to hear Sean mispronunciate (tm—Joe the Reporter) her last name as “HasselbAck”.

I think you are 100% right…. I was gonna make that exact same comment, but you beat me to it!!

All of the hugging and kissing that goes on, in my opinion, is so fake…. It isnt like thats the first time they see each other…. Im sure they talk back stage. We are supposed to believe that these guests love the hosts so much that after hanging out back stage for an hour, they cant help but hug and kiss when they see them on stage?

  118. Roger from Ohio Says:

    #116 berndoubt–

Oops, forgot the clip:…… I need more coffee!

maybe you should skip the coffee and go straight to the alcohol!!

You found the wrong clip…. you missed the beginning when she was defending her buddy Ann Coulter.

Maybe it is just me, but did anyone else notice that they adjusted the sound where she sounded more “breathy” than usual? It was something that the soundman did, Hannity didnt sound breathy.

  119. berndoubt Says:

#118, If I have to watch another clip of Bitsy, I will head for the alcohol cabinet, but it’s gotta be noon somewhere (someone else on here once said, “It’s gotta be five somewhere.” How genteel and civilized. I say you start pounding the beers around noonish and follow them with a bloody Mary)

It’s a dayiful beaut in America!

  120. ShannonP Says:

I thought they had an interesting take on Elisabeth. They are talking about her trip to the White House and saying Bush is a Good man crap.

  121. berndoubt Says:

O.K. I watched the other clip on youTube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAjnkxxq57A

Funny to note that they put up three descriptions under Bitsy’s picture

    1. On The View since November 2003
    2. Survivor contestant
    3. Married to Tim Hasselbeck, former NFL quarterback

The first two stay up for about three seconds and the last one comes up, you barely have time to read it and it’s gone. Interesting. And again, Hannity calls her “HasselbAck”. Love it.

  122. berndoubt Says:

#120, they are so right. It’s sort of like defending a murderer by testifying that he couldn’t have done it because I’ve been around him and he never murdered me.

Do you suppose THAT’S sort of what Elisabeth meant with the Jeffrey Dahmer peanut butter sandwich analogy? So, she doesn’t believe in that sort of indefensible argument, unless it’s used to defend her guy. Hmmmmm…

  124. Stacee Says:

    Double hmmmm on that.

If she wants to pat Bush on the back and laud that he has “kept us safe”, I hope she wil also acknowledge that it was under his watch that we were attacked. And she can put that into her beckpack and stuff it.

  125. Stacee Says:

Forgot to mention: Winnie, I also received the commemorative innagaration invite! I know it is not real, but it still bought a smile to my face. I plan on framing it (along with a few other items I have collected, lol).

#125, I’m always impressed when I get an e-mail from Barack or Michelle Obama.

  127. MiamiVision Says:

Hannity might have called her Hasselback but I watched Hannity that night, it was his first night without Alan (his partner) - and behind Sean and EH was a huge black sign with yellow lettering that stayed up the entire interview and instead of saying Hannity & Colmes it said:

    HANNITY & HASSELBECK

    and it was italicized.

To me, it was like a test - like putting candy in front of a baby - perhaps Sean wants her on the show and perhaps she lacks the 24/7/365 confidence to even leave the View. ?? Just a hunch.

  128. MiamiVision Says:

I meant perhaps Sean wants her on the show permanently….who knows? I don’t think she could cut it 5 nights a week due to her real/true lack of confidence.

  129. Stacee Says:

Miami, she would do just fine with Hannity. All she’d have to do is regurgitate his talking points, make statements while masking them as “questions” night after night. She does that anyway, so no biggie.

  130. susieq Says:

Stacee, if EH did a show with Hannity then she wouldn’t get to play the victim anymore.

  131. Lopez Says:

if EH did a show with Hannity, he’d surely tap it. Do you ever notice how she moves in her chair when Hannity is mentioned. Me thinks she has a sexual reaction to the sound of his name.

  132. susieq Says:

You know Lopez a lot of us joke on this board about Hannity being EH’s tv boyfriend but IMO I think she would love to be with someone like that. In her mind it would make her part of a “power couple”.

I kinda feel sorry for her hubby. She always talks like they have a traditional marriage. I wonder if it bothers him she is the bigger breadwinner.

  133. Meredith Says:

A few quick things: it’s totally bizarre to me in this day and age that people can look at vegetarian dishes like someone is trying to get them to eat live insects or pieces of brick. Maybe because I live in CA where a large percentage of people are vegetarian, but it really isn’t that novel nor difficult to be one, nor is ir difficult to have delicious filling meals as a vegetarian! Whoopie looked at the food as if she just got off a spaceship from another planet (as if this sort of diet weren’t what so many of her evolved and health conscious friends follow anyway). And for her to just eat raspberries is so rude to a guest who goes to all that trouble to have the food prepared. And from the sublime to the ridiculous is Sherri. She is disgusting on these food segments. It’s one thing to talk about not making any New Year’s resolutions about food because she loves here M & M’s and Ruffles potato chips, but to pig out time and time again in front of everyone on live television as if she hasn’t eaten in days is just bizarre. More importantly, I am so sick of people saying Bush has kept us safe when he is the one person who could have prevented 9/11. Hasn’t anyone read the 9/11 Commission Report? There were so many memos and so much intelligence submitted to Bush that 9/11 was going to happen and he did nothing. So we lost more than 3,000 people and the psyche of a nation on his watch, and people like EH want to say he has kept us safe–how twisted is that?

  134. Meredith Says:

Oh and I forgot to thank Kelly for not one but three really important contributions today!, Thank you so much for your wonderful research and excellent writing. GREAT stuff! Very important dissemination of vital information.

  135. rainlillie Says:

    133. I agree with all your points. Sherri should learn some table manners.

#127. TLB would never leave the View for Faux. She would just blend in on Faux with all the other right-wing Barbies. Therefore she wouldn’t get as much attention as she get’s on the View.

Next time she says “Bush kept us safe” someone should remind her that we would have never been attacked in the first place, if the Bush administration had of done their jobs. Yes, memos were ignored meetings were denied and 911 happened. Instead of hugging Bush why doesn’t she hug some of the victims of his failed policies.

  136. rainlillie Says:

I watched Hardball last night and the guest on the show said pretty much the same thing TLB said, about Bush keeping us safe. I guess that’s the talking point for the week.

  137. Stacee Says:

susieq Says: “Stacee, if EH did a show with Hannity then she wouldn’t get to play the victim anymore.”

    MY RESPONSE: So true.
But I think she would totally go work there, if she could. From the few appearances I’ve seen, she seems to be very comfortable in that enviroment.
I can forsee her not renewing her View contract, and going over to Fox.

  138. Stacee Says:

    MY RESPONSE: Good point, Meredith.
I guess I don’t see why people always have to make such a huge deal about someone wanting to be a vegetarian. For me, as long as noone’s not forcing being a vegetarian on me, what’s the harm in explaining the benefits as well as showing different recipes on a show? Why was Whoopi making such a big production?

Ya know, if I were being paid to represent the View, was on TV with guests and being paid to at least try a fricken bite of food I’d do so. And after, I’d cash my checks with a huge smile on my face.

I also agree with the rest of your post. Excellent points made.
