The View January 9th
Unfortunately I won’t be able to get my recap up until tonight. I would suggest you comment here about today’s episode, but I am not sure if I will get a chance to approve the comments during the day today. (For those of you unaware, the spam filter has take to marking ALL comments as spam and I have to approve them one by one). However, if you do comment, I will make sure that it is approved and posted tonight.
Thank you for your understanding!
UPDATE: I was being way too optimistic with the whole “recap up tonight” thing. I am way too tired and cannot motivate myself to even turn on the TiVo to watch it. How sad is it that three days into the New Year I am already bored with the show? Fear not, tomorrow’s recap will be up promptly after the episode airs. (I am fine if I watch it live, just lack motivation to watch it later).
I have had time to dig out all your comments, so be sure to check out what your fellow readers have posted in the last few posts!

When are the comments going to be fixed and back to the way they were without every one needing to be delayed and approved?

OMG!!! Did anyone catch it today??? Of course the first topic of discussion was Hillarys and McCains win in NH.. You had to see EH seethe with anger!!! Sherry went on to say that Hillary touched something inside her and she seemed genuinely happy for her.. now EH on the other hand. uh.. ‘I am not emotional.. and I am pissed hearing everyone complain..’ sorta like that.. more like.. if you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen crap.. she said it should be the hardest thing you do in life to become our president.. Joy chides in.. well what is the excuse for all of GWB vacations then? he had more vacations than any other president.. well EH had nothing to retort.. HAH! Now Whoopie.. chides in…. “you should have atleast a minute to bitch” HAH!!!!omg!!!! then she made the face like oops.. Ima ina troubla… omg!!!!!!!!! I spit my tea out and through my nose!!!! You had to see EH face.. lips all pursed and trying to smile… YEAH WHOOPPIE!!!!!!!!! All EH talking points where nothing really to speak of.. she cant find any.. SOMEONE GET THE HOOK!!!
January 9th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
OH.. and the segment speaking of religion and how religious are you if you dont attend church.. OMG.. EH says she prays.. and god does speak to her.. but she is too busy as a mother to attend church because she has children.. uhh.. hello?????? I had 4 siblings.. and my mother had all 5 of us dressed in our sunday best every sunday decked out in our hats and gloves and matching clothes.
Sooooo.. god speaks to her (EH).. but she blows him off????
I’m just saying…….
January 9th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Today was so god awful listening to the self-righteous screech owl. EH’s first day mellow was a distant memory. The b*tch is back! She was in a pi*ssy mood today. ooh-we. and did her usual thang where she pretends to complain about all of the candidates but the only examples she uses are ones that are obviously things that Hillary or the other Dems do. And ranting about the candidates complaining where she said “they” complained about not having a voice. Well when did Hillary “complain” she didn’t have a voice? all I heard her say was that she finally found her voice. For that matter what have the others “complained” about? just askin cause I haven’t heard. EH was little miss priss survivor today, but yesterday she whined about childbirth and said she wasn’t survivor girl anymore. I’m glad sherry doesn’t agree with her lock stock n double barrell.my blood pressure rises when EH starts up her yellling. someone please hid the coffee from her. And pass me the vodka! cuz I can’t take this show with her acting like she did today. Whoopi’s slippin’ the b* word was the highlight.

The worst thing that little republican idiot said this week was “talking about the Iraq War is so 2007″. Thanks from all the poor people who have lost their lives or limbs, eyes, ears and more.
January 9th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Aileen - she actually did have a comeback to Joy commenting on all of Bush’s vacations - she said he was probably still working while on vacation! hahahahaha yeah right!!
I have to admit, I still like the hot topics section. I almost always dislike what EH ends up saying but I still like hearing them talk about stuff. Especially Joy.
Even if it is silly stuff like celebrities or whatever.
The part when I stop paying attention is the guests…I don’t know why but they just haven’t had many guests lately that really grab my interest. Maybe because most shows are on hiatus so all the stars I watch have nothing to promote? I dunno.
I also think it’s funny how people describe Clinton’s emotional moment - everything from ‘emotional’ to ‘crying like a baby’ it seems when she didn’t even shed a tear. I didn’t think she ‘lost it’ but I do think she showed that she is passionate about what she’s doing (I don’t think she was faking it for pity) - not that she’s only doing it because she’s power hungry or something. Does that make sense?
January 9th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
This is almost too funny to be true! All the comments on this website are coming from angry libs! It’s funny to see how frustrated/angry/upset you get over the things EH says! You don’t see us getting this upset over what the other libs on that show say to bash Republicans! Why don’t you guys grow up, and if you don’t want to listen to EH’s opinions, DONT WATCH THE SHOW AND BLAB ON WINNIE’S COMMENT SECTIONS, because, it is after all, (and I know this may be hard to accept), THE VIEW, where “many” different women (I put “many” because they are all libs except for EH) with “different” views express them! What part of this concept can’t you blabbing libs comprehend!? EH’s VIEW is part of the package hons! Anyway…what was I thinking of…oh yea, how funny it is to see you all upset over EH! I bet you are all petitioning for a new show; “The Liberal View” starring all your favorite lib celebs! You guys are such hypocrites. Open minded my A$$!
January 9th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
PRIOR POST: It’s funny to see how frustrated/angry/upset you get over the things EH says! You don’t see us getting this upset over what the other libs on that show say to bash Republicans!
RESPONSE: I don’t get upset with EH because she’s conservative. I enjoy listening to Dan Abrams, George Will. They are thoughtful. EH is just talking points - and judgmental, and disingenous. THat’s what I object to.
PRIOR POST: because, it is after all, (and I know this may be hard to accept), THE VIEW, where “many” different women (I put “many” because they are all libs except for EH) with “different” views express them!
Hmmm. I don’t think of Sherri as liberal. And even when I disagree with her, I find her interesting. But she’s not talking points, she’s not a shill, and she’s not judgmental.
January 9th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
JEN while is see what your point is in general I think you are missing the point of that when you passionatly disargee or find someones view problemaic it doe snot mean you do not think they have right ot there view it just that yo do not think much of it . have you every hear bill O riely or other right winger talk about the new york times and other publication they find liberal or how about who elizabeth argue with joy and the others passionalty on all side of any debate people diasgree and things tic them off it does not make either side angry and close mind just passionate. we all can agree on everything but we can try and see either or points and somepoeple really dont see elizabeth and similar folks if you understand her share
January 9th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
See how being a Republican makes you goofy…. ( eg. Jen) Jen’s comments were seething with anger.
January 9th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I MISS ROSIE! That’s what’s so messed up about this show this year. Rosie was its heart and soul.
January 9th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Megan, I so agree with you.. I didnt see tears either.. seen many on other presidents. No mention of that. but I am with you.. she seemed exasperated.. who knows.. maybe she really wants to bring in change, exhaustion, disapointment.. but she is passionate. I just guess I hate the digs because she is female and EH seems not to understand being a female herself.
In regards to the troll Jen, honey.. its our view too.. so like it or not I still got the tissue for the mud on your face when you stuck your nose in the mud. By the way.. I offered to help you pack.. let me know when its good for you.
January 9th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
Now Winnie, don’t you worry. We understand what a burden it is for you to plow through all our rantin’ and ravin’. And on top of that you have to watch a boring show without our dear Rosie on it. We know this spam thing is not your fault.

I had no idea Sherri was a “lib.” Damn libs! You’ll let anyone join the group these days. Even folks who are anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage and anti-evolution.
My fellow libs, you’re slipping a bit, you better stop lowering the bar. Next you’ll let child stalker Michele Malkin join the group.
If that happens, I’m turning in my “how to be a good lib kit” and I’m calling Barbra Streisand, to tell her I won’t be attending the secret meetings anymore.
January 10th, 2008 at 1:46 am
Someone needs a nap.
Today’s show was fairly uneventful. The guests were Cybyl Shepherd, Jennifer Beals and Montel Williams.
Hot Topics were pretty tepid. I wonder what type of guidelines they are given (if any?) It seems they kinda skirt around the issue. At least EH (to her credit) does come with some points to back up her opinions. Sherri just seems to throw out anything to make her appear like she knows *something* about the topic at hand, Joy comes off as maniacal sometimes and Whoopi - Whoopi is sorta just there I guess to toss softballs under the guise of playing devil’s advocate. Though at least she is not as grumpy as she usually is.
They discussed Hillary’s win and I agree with Aileen, EH came off as very angry! Megan, I agree with you too; I did not see Hillary “crying” as they say. But anything to knock her down to explain a win is to be expected.
They also discussed church going. Sherri said her church people kept her from killing her husband and the non church people encouraged it. I’m glad she had people there to stop her from doing something incredibly stupid, but her insinuation that non church goers encourage the bad is not always accurate in my experience. I know many people that don’t go to church that have been very uplifting and would not encourage killings. I have also known people that attend church that have done some truly heinous things.
I don’t recall what they were discussing but the conversation veered into Brazillian waxing. I found that to be boring.
What else….oh they discaussed standards of beauty and called EH ‘the BRECT girl’. EH was not too happy about that. She snapped what is that. Whoopi explained (though I think she pronounced it wrong, it should have been BRECK). I sorta can understand EH’s irritation because they always point to her being pretty as somehow a way to hold it against her. EH disclosed she was not a blonde and showed her roots, which I thought took a lot of guts. I actually liked it.
What else…oh the guests. I thought the questions for Cybill and Jennifer were STUPID. That had to have been one of the worst interviews I have ever seen. Cybill looks - sorry to her fans! - terrible. Jennifer looked fantastic. I also enjoyed her answers and stories. Too bad the ladies did an awful job interviewing them.
Montel was on to discuss his book. In it, he writes about his disease and how diet helps. I thought the interview was actually good. I don’t particulary care for him but I enjoyed it a lot - due in part to HIM. Sherri and EH interviewed him and they seemed too rush rush, like they were bound and determined to ask their questions on their cards. It was a bit painful to watch but Montel pretty much recovered and was able to orate his story very well while making it interesting. Like I said, I don’t really care for him but he actually made me want to hear what he had to say (when he could complete his sentences). He also had a fun idea for making your children drink vegatables. He says buy a McDonalds’ cup, mix a shake made with different fruits and put it in a cup. I had never thought of that. His book sounded very interesting.

I watched the beginning of today’s show (Jan.10th). Bawa was off and running with the English accent/gifts thing. Got a good laugh when she shut EH up after she suggested Bawa is republican cause she was wearing red! Bawa said “Oh for goodness sake” in a gruff way..Eh said she was “kidding”. I noticed that whenever EH spoke out today, she had a mean look about her like she had to get her right wing points across quickly and loudly. By the way did she mention anything about 3rd string QB hubby? Does he still have a job to go back to in Az in the future?
January 10th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
“not only will I pack for her.. I will throw in a full season of Keith Olbermans special comment CD and book. Good reading for the plane.”
LOL! Now who could resist that?
January 10th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Barbie and her tin plate souvenirs for the gals was PAINFUL but hysterical to watch. they may as well have had thought bubbles over their heads saying “This is IT? THIS is what you brought us?” One silver lining about having BW back on the show is that it cuts into the amount of time left over for EH to monopolize the discussion. EH is slightly more restrained when the boss lady is there. and that for me is a good thing.
Jen, in comment #7 I have to ask who are you referring to when you say “us” here:
“You don’t see us getting this upset over what the other libs on that show say to bash Republicans! ”
Who is “us”? Also: You think Sherry is a liberal????
January 10th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
oh you girls are so witty! im like totally jealous of your wit! EH has made a career for herself, and what have you lards done? you’ve just sat behind your computer screens mocking her! by the way, sherri may be conservative on some issues, but she’s very liberal on others! oh LOL guys i love your little “lib” jokes! gosh, ya’ll are so funny! dontcha think aileen’s mud joke is just amazing! she should be a comedian with sour puss behar! oh, i just love you girls…

Oh May, pretty old May, since when does Joy not have a mean look about her trying to get her left wing points across quickly and loudly? hah, but of course you wont point that out hon! And also, who the hell judges someone based on their husband’s career? I bet EH’s husband is 100x more successful than yours! i wouldnt be so quick to judge next time girlll!

No Jen
It’s you who we find funny
lol
January 11th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Jen:
You’re doing the very thing you complained about in your very first diatriibe: you’re making assumptions about the people who post here when you don’t know anything about any of us: for ex., when you said:
“what have you lards done? you’ve just sat behind your computer screens mocking her!”
But, Jen, in your first diatribe on the other section, you complained that “libs” here were making assumptions about YOU, by calling you right wing.
One characteristic of people who are right of center (and by that I mean people like you who complain about “libs”) that I have noticed is that they swoop in to this blog after not having made any comtributions and they gripe about the libs’. And they usually seem to do it in an insulting way, such as when that other person said the libs here had “hate in their hearts.” Or in the way you insulted by your homophobic comment that you later said was a “joke.” Then, when people rise up and react to the insults, the right wingers run away and don’t respond. So it is hard to embrace your comments when that’s the way you approach the discussions.
I asked you before and you never answered: Who do you mean by “us” here:
“You don’t see us getting this upset over what the other libs on that show say to bash Republicans! ”
I’m very curious who “us” is.
Also, you are now saying that Sherry is “very liberaL’ on some issues. What are those issues? I’m curious to know what you think is liberal. Especially since you said in your first post that we should not assume you are right of center.
January 11th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Once again, excellent points, Think83!
January 11th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Think83,
I appreciate your patients.
““You don’t see us getting this upset over what the other libs on that show say to bash Republicans!”
The most honest part of that post is the use of the word “us”, as in more than one identity.
That person isn’t here to discuss the View, they’re only here to cause confrontations.
January 12th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Well thank you Stacee, for your short recap of the show. ..I didn;t get to see the show.
I just sort of have one comment, and this is just my opinion. One doesn’t need to attend a church to be very religious, and believe totally in their faith. And this isn’t in regards to e.h. saying she is too busy being a mother to attend church. I’m not defending that. It really has nothing to do with E.H.
It’s more of a pet pieve of mine. The notion or belief that one must attend church every week to be a religious or faithful person.
Oh and one other thing. I myself hope that Jen hangs around for a while. Mainly because i feel that once she gets to know the commenters here it may change her attitude about some things.

Comment #30: ” I myself hope that Jen hangs around for a while. Mainly because i feel that once she gets to know the commenters here it may change her attitude about some things.”
I disagree 100%, Sandy. I take it you are more interested in “Jen”;s education than you are the feelings of your fellow posters? Or you wwant her attitude change to come at the expense of the good will and friendly atmosphere basically and attack-free tone of this blog?? Because Jen posts nasty, personal attacks, not to mention the homophobic “joke” all because she doesn’t like the fact that many of the posters dislike EH. See, it’s like this: The posters are complaining about a celebrity or politiicans, people who are not on this blog. But the “Jens” of the world join the party, so to speak, and sh*t all over the us partygoers! Where is your outrage over her comments about US? I find that really frustrating. If this is supposed to be a community of regular people talking about the show, why wouldn’t you care more about maintaining a friendly, civil tone in the community than in inviting someone to come in and insult everyone? I think the presence of the “Jen’s” of the world to this blog are as inviting as that of a person who goes to a public swimming pool and while everyone is having a good time urinates in the pool just for the fun of it, just to ruin things and for their own screwed up needs to be a spoiler. And before all you right wingers or conservatives or republicans or whatever you call yourselves (you know who I’m talking about) swoop in and say that I’m not wanting to hear other opinions, give me a break. I’m talking about the OBVIOUS hostile, angry, troll like insults and attcks such as Jen’s. I’m not talking about differing opinions. Sandy sounds like a nice gal, but I wish you wouldn’t invite insulting behavior just for the sake of hoping the person gets enlightened. Your fellow posters who are by and large civil toward each other, though not toward potlicians and celbs and EH, deserve some consideration. Let “Jen” get enlightened on her own time, with her big fat insulting mouth shut.
Obviously it’s a free country and “Jen” can come here and insult if she wants. But she is not coming at my personal engraved invitation and I will not guarantee that her insults and crap will go without response.
#29, Rainlillie: Interestiing. I didn’t know there was more than one identity. I thought by “us” she (”Jen”) meant “fellow right wingers, Republicans, conservatives, whatever name their call themselves.” I asked “Jen” twice but she ignores me.
January 13th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Thank you Think83 for that beautiful speech…I honestly think I felt a tear for a second, but that must’ve just been because I was laughing so hard at your bitter anger…You seem like an angry person, Think, and I don’t know what’s going on in your life that makes you feel that way…Who knows, maybe you’re going through a divorce? So, being the kind person that I am, I do not want to return the anger…This world needs understanding people, and it may have to start with me, cause the libs sure ain’t doin’ nothin’ to be understanding! (Ok, once again, a joke…I’ll probably get 10 responses scolding me about saying “lib”…Breathe people…Innn…Ouuttt…deep breaths) Oh, and to answer your question there Think, “us” refers to people who are open-minded to all views, and don’t just attack someone’s views no matter what they say..We are the people who are not ready to attack someone before they’ve even said their view…anyway, that’s all I wanted to say…thought your little speech was cute and creative…i felt like shouting “AMEN! ALLELUIA!” at the end of it myself…anyway, have a good day Think83, and I hope you get through these difficult times (whatever you may be going through)!
January 13th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Think83,
Thank you! I agree with everything that you said. It was just…BEAUTIFUL!
January 13th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
“I didn’t know there was more than one identity.”
It’s always the same type posting. Either they have a hubby or a child serving in Iraq or they just found the blog today. Peaches use to say “scroll past the troll.” I think that’s what I’ll do from now on. A troll isn’t someone new on the board, it’s someone who comes here to insult and cause conflict with the other posters. There isn’t any benefit in inviting someone with those type of intentions to “hang around.”
January 14th, 2008 at 9:39 am
I just read Winnie’s words about the new Comments policy … and why she had to institute them. I wanted to apologize to her and to everyone here for my contribution to the problem. I’m very sorry for not holding my tongue.
January 14th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Think83,
I think you might misunderstand me, and I most certainly DO CARE about the feelings of my fellow posters. I consider myself an “us” at this site. I happen to like most all of the posters here, ..no matter their political affiliation.
Lately I have had a lot of trouble connecting to and reading/ making comments,..so therefore my comments have been few as of late.
I did comment on another recap, not sure which one, regarding Jen’s comment about “libs” being gay or lesbians, and whatever else was in that post,…as being rude and childish.
I usually don’t respond to comments like that,..because I find it just tends to make for more of the same type of comments.
No I don’t think that it is right for anyone to make nasty comments about anyone else. And it’s not that i don’t care about others having their feelings hurt, i assure you i do, and i don’t like it any more than you, and all the others here.
My hope for Jen staying around is NOT so that she can make comments that hurt anyone, or make them angry. By hope was and is that she and or others, could come to learn, that it doesn’t matter if you are a liberal or conservative, ..people are in general “good” persons, and actually think more a like that you might think.
Anyway, I’m probably not making myself clear. but my hope that Jen hangs around is and was meant in something good and positive. I think he or she would soon cease with the negative personal comments. That was my “hope”.
Of course there are some who just refuse to see that, or even try to see the other side. I don’t know which Jen is.
We each have our own opinions and views.
I had read with “interest” your comments in the last week or so,…when I could.
And i would have sooner, not given the problems I’ve had in the psst week or so,..but..WELCOME to our blog. It’s nice to have you.
January 14th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
“I’m very sorry for not holding my tongue.”
I think almost all of us have been guilty of that at one time or another. I enjoy reading your insightful comments about the show.
January 15th, 2008 at 9:43 am
Sandy, thanks for your welcome & for your response to me. I think it’s safe to say that you & I view the situation/those comments very very differently & came to very different conclusions about them. That’s all that can be said here, of course, so we’ll have to close the book on this saga….
Rainlillie, thanks for your words of support in #33 and #37.
I’ll ignore such comments in the future. Wish I’d done so in the past.
