The View July 22nd Recap: Shirley MacLaine and Sugarland
Today on The View, all five hosts were present again.
The first topic was the woman on YouTube who talked about her divorce and she lost the case in part because of her “cruel and inhuman” rants about her husband and only gets what is in the pre-nup. (Really? This is the top story today?) They discussed whether she was just after his money. Sherri said that old men who work at McDonald’s don’t have young women. Elisabeth thinks it is possible that some women are with an older man for love. Whoopi said that if the woman would have shut her mouth and not made the videos she would have gotten more money.
Barbara said that there are no rules on the Internet and they have shown beheadings. Joy wants to know why they won’t show the coffins of the soldiers coming back from Iraq, saying it was a policy of the president. Barbara said she didn’t know about that. Elisabeth said it might have to to do with a sensitivity toward the families. Joy said it was about wanting the war to continue. Elisabeth said in the future we can read about what candidates said in the past on their MySpace or Facebook.
A new study said that Viagra can help a woman who is depressed. Sherri said if she is with a man who is on Viagra, she would need some to keep up because it would be like a man on steroids. Barbara said they have not found a pill to help women’s sex drive, saying that women can fake it, men can’t. Elisabeth said something while she was saying that (missed it) and Barbara said to Elisabeth that she knows she doesn’t fake it. Joy said the pill doesn’t make you want to have sex, it just makes it physically possibly for a man to do so.
The Institute of Medicine said other liquids, fruits and vegetables will do the trick and you don’t have to drink 8 glasses of water. Whoopi said she gets “dusty” if she doesn’t drink enough water. Barbara read some of the other myths in an article from the NY Times, including that colonics don’t work. Elisabeth said that healthy colons will clean themselves. Joy said it is like douching, you don’t need it and it can cause harm.
Barbara said that Regis Philbin was on her SIRIUS radio show and sang very well and has another potential career.
On the cover of NY Post is a picture of Britney Spears smoking in front of her child and the child is reaching for a pack of cigarettes. Whoopi said it characterizes her as a “whore from hell,” and people should lighten up. Sherri said a parent should not smoke around a child because of second-hand smoke. Whoopi said that they are outside in the photo. Sherri agreed that the part about the kid reaching for the cigerettes it is a stretch because she used to go run and grab cigarettes for her aunt. Elisabeth agreed that kids run and get things for their parents. She said that they will use Britney as an example for this. Joy said that the picture looks like the kid is telling her to stop.
Barbara said that she is in her own backyard and they are trying to make her look bad. Whoopi said we don’t what know the situation was, maybe Britney was out having a cigarette and the kid came running out, and she doesn’t like the way it is characterized. She said that as a smoker, she doesn’t drink or have sex in front of her grandchildren . . . (but she does smoke in front of them? I am confused where she was going and she didn’t really finish the thought). Joy said that Britney has a bad track record. Whoopi said that she does too, but that doesn’t mean she should be nailed to the cross everytime she does something wrong.
Barbara is going to Paris to interview with the wife of the President of France which will air on 20/20. She is only staying in France one day. Sherri told her to grab a glass of wine and meet some French men.
Jay Leno’s last day on television will be May, 2009. Whoopi wants to know if it is because Jay is 58 and why no women are ever up for the job. Barbara said Joan Rivers tried it and it was not a success. Joy said that she tried to be too engaging and lost some of her edge. Barbara said that network only cares about the younger demographic because of advertising revenue, so they are moving Jay out. Whoopi told Jay to come and hang out with them.
Shirley MacLaine appeared on The View to promote Sage-ing While Age-ing, her book which is now out in paperback. Shirley hugged Whoopi and said they have been through many things together and many men.
Barbara asked her how many past lives she has had and how she has the gift of knowing her past lives while others don’t. Shirley said many people have a sense of deja vu about their past lives. When she went to China it proved it to her because she knew where streets were. She also has past-life regression sessions which helps you ruminate into your own soul. It makes her very emotional and start seeing what is making you upset. The more you know about yourself the more it helps you understand your life now. Joy said it is like psychoanalysis, but more about childhood that past lives. Shirley also believes in that and did it even before people thought she was crazy.
Shirley said that consequences of life is the same as the concept of karma. Joy asked if Hitler will get his at some point or if he is just dead and gone. Shirley said that based on a study by a doctor, after seeing the white light, people go to a school and have to do studies. She said that people like Hitler will go to a solitary confinement school. She said you have to look at the reason behind Hitler. Elisabeth then asked her a question about radionics and cleansing, which she wrote about in her book. Shirley said she didn’t know what Elisabeth was talking about and would have to check her book because she did a lot of research about it for the book, but didn’t remember it. Elisabeth said it was on the card. (Click here for video)
She is going to play Coco Chanel in an upcoming television miniseries. As they went to break, Elisabeth (who I think thought the camera was off) said, “I’m going to find it in the book” and grabbed it off Sherri’s lap and started flipping through it.
Coco Chanel inspired Shirley to do a jewelry line. It involves the colors of the chakras and can provide healing properties. You can design it yourself on her website. A man she works with imprints chi on the jewelry for her so it will help people feel more balanced.
Elisabeth read from Shirley’s book about radionics. Shirley said it is a way to make your own homeopathic remedies. You mix your urine or hair with toxins in the air and then drink water that is prepared by the machine. She doesn’t drink her own urine, although some people do. Barbara said the former prime minister of India used to drink his own urine and it was called urine therapy. Whoopi joked that she drinks her own urine. Shirley said she would to if she had her urine.
Sugarland also appeared on the show to perform “All I want to Do” from their album Love on the Inside. After the song was over, Elisabeth and Sherri went to interview them and were singing along to the song. They filmed the video for the song in Hawaii and learned how to surf. At a recent concert, which will air on television soon, they crowd surfed in giant inflatable balls. The new album was recorded live. Five people who buy their CD will win a big prize package. The cover art for the album is based on Jennifer’s tattoo. She said that singing with Beyonce was great and she is not a diva and is very down to earth. Kristian has two small children at home, aged three and six. He takes a lot of video of them when he is home and talks to them using video chat when he is on the road.
Reminder that Joy will be hosting Larry King Live tonight.

Well Elizabeth got dissed again. She is clueless as to how to ask a succint question. However, when Shirley said she didn’t know what she was talking about regarding a question she asked…Elizabeth as an inexperienced and unprofessional baby resorted to respond “it is in the card”, talking about her notes. Then back from commercial break, she had the nerve to throw it back in Shirley’s face to read directly from the book. Elizabeth just had to prove she was right. It was one of the most uncomfortable TV moments I have ever witnessed. When will Barbara “view” Elizabeth for who/what she really is? She has no business being on TV.

rainlillie mentioned on a previous thread: “Joy is right they don’t show the coffins returning or cover the funerals of the soldiers. Some family members have requested that the media cover their loved ones funerals and the woman who works for Arlington National Cemetery was fired by the Army, because she tried to honor the wishes of the families.”
Now, as someone who is a current embattled whistleblower on the corrupt government employer where I worked for 15 years, and as someone whose brother was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in Iraq (which means he was nearly killed), I demand to know why The View glossed over Joy’s remarks.
Bitsy (Elisabeth), I hope your computer is up and running and you can tear yourself away from YouTube long enough to familiarize yourself with this site:
http://greatmindsthinklikemerainlillie.blogspot.com/2008/07/army-fires-whistleblower-who-wanted.html
Give it a try – maybe the next time you go on yapping like a crazed Chihuahua, you can FINALLY become somewhat reflective based on new, and real information coupled with the fact that there is a reason your view co-hosts want to throttle you daily.

I felt the same way, Beth, about EH’s insisting on getting her way with the question that Shirley didn’t seem to want to answer. I can’t believe how brazen (stupid?) EH is..she just HAD to get in the last word. I noticed that after she got sorta poo-pooed by Shirley that mother Sherri started rubbing EH’s knee as if to say “there there”. I’ve seen Sherri do this before. EH also interrupted Barbara while she was talking and Bar said “Did you hear what I just said”? EH then gave a cutesy smile and answered yes like a kid who got caught at it again. I do like Shirley MacClaine and her great work in the movies all these years but find her book on the karma stuff sorta “out there”.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:05 am
EH is to be expected. But BW seemed very snippy in hot topics. (I watch infrequently, so maybe this is the “norm” these days.) And even worse during the Shirley MacLaine interview. What was up w/that?? Shirley didn’t seem very warm and fuzzy w/BW either, but I’d like to think a true journalist can rise above that. I so hate that BW has bottomed out on this show. She’s obviously had a remarkable career. Sad to see it go out like this….
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Au Contraire Barbara – Libi-Gel, female Viagra. I would like to see Joy replace Larry King. Not sure she has the chops for it, but I would like to see her ‘grow’ into the position. I missed most of Shirley’s interview (have to watch the video) but did notice some tension between Shirley and EH. I wonder how many guests have decided never to return because of EH?
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:32 am
viagra like many other meds was discover when they tried to use it a an antihypertensive medication. am sure this new use is a way for the drug company to extend it patent or a coinsidential finding.
the Eh mcclain ting was mad weirder by both whoppi and barabra trying to divert the situation. am not sure if SM did not want nto to talk about it or just did not get her referecne since she refered to it as homeopathic somthing or other. either way tense moment
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:33 am
correction
Eh /mcclain thing was made weirder
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:51 am
Time for EH to go. I cannot believe how dense she is. And yes, Barbara is getting snippier and more cranky with each day. Time for the diva to retire.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:59 am
I completely disagree with these comments. Shirley acted like she knew nothing about EH’s question. If Shirley McClain can write a book then she should be competent enough to talk about it.
As for Joy, she is the most annoying person on the show - next to BW; but luckily BW isn’t on all the time. I appreciate the left/right discussions as it’s great to have such conversations out there. But Joy is completely rude and makes false outrageous political statements that she “assumes” to be truths. My only fault with EH is that she is too nice and considerate to counter JB. Maybe the View needs someone on the show to support EH just as BW, WG and Joy have each other to beat up on EH.
What kind of people are we if we want to watch beheadings, coffins, and body bags? I can be up on current news without having to “see” such accounts.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:59 am
I am convinced that EH is doing exactly what she is hired to do. She is the person we all “love to hate”. The powers that be don’t care who we like or don’t like only that we watch. The same dynamic is in play as when Rosie was on but in reverse. We loved Rosie and couldn’t wait to see what she would do/say and now we watch because we can’t wait to see what EH will do/say. I know there are some who don’t watch but still here you are on a website devoted to watching the view.
Shirley Maclaine is a fruitcake…..all natural of course.
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:19 pm
“What kind of people are we if we want to watch beheadings, coffins, and body bags? I can be up on current news without having to “see” such accounts.” Well, Jennifer, there are human beings that are beheaded, come home in pieces in coffins and bodybags. They are someone’s child, mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, wife, husband. No matter the reason for it war is horrible and if we let ourselves become complacent it is even more horrible.
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:29 pm
The media is the only avenue we have to drive home the cost of war. Coffins, body bags etc. raise the consciousness of those who are choosing to ignore the consequences of sending our soldiers into someone else’s war.
Thanks to Joy she gets in a point or two regarding the sad state of our msn. She is the only one that appears to be a left of center on that panel.
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Dee Says:
The media is the only avenue we have to drive home the cost of war.
A recent rasmussen pollsays-
>A plurality believes that the media has also
>tried to make the war in Iraq appear worse
>that it really is.
I doubt very few people, including those that believe the war is just don’t have compassion and sympathy for the families that have lost loved ones. Unfortunately, people die in war. As tragic as the deaths in the war are, the troops voluntataily enlisted. Compare that to the number of our youths being killed in the street of america. Should the media start showing graphic pictures of our black youth being gunned down in the street. How would that go over with white america? Of course, blacks would appreciate their problems finally being addressed. Much like those opposed to the war want pics of the dead soldiers to become the front page of the news.
She [Joy] is the only one that appears to be a left of center on that panel.
Ouch. EH is right, Sherri says things that appear to be right. Joy, whoopi and barbs are all left of center. Follow the money. Who do you think they contribute to?
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm
I watched the show today and have to say that I thought Barbara was so rude to Shirley, not giving her the respect I would think someone like Shirley deserved, I saw Barbara give more respect and a better interview to the Kardishians then what was given to a movie icon like Shirley.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:09 pm
“Joy is completely rude and makes false outrageous political statements that she “assumes” to be truths.”
Please name one thing that Joy has said about the Bush administration as far as policy goes that isn’t true. Your statement above can also be applied to TLB (EH)
Some family members of slain soldiers requested that the media cover their loved ones funerals, when the woman who works for Arlington Cemetery tried to honor the wishes of the families, she was fired.
What kind of people support something like this unnecessary war, but would like to keep the ugly side of it away from public view…Even at the request of the families?
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Great point Dee # 12.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:15 pm
I think the youtube woman would have been held to her prenup regardless that she uploaded video. Joy was going to mention a younger woman really loving her older husband [I thought of Oona chaplin], but deferred to Whoopi. Sigh Bitsy interrupted my Shirley talks about past lives nap. Bits kept harping on the radionics machine, whilst Shirley kept emphasizing it was just homemade homeopathy. Coincidently I googled last night about does urine help jellyfish stings and hit a site called wisegeek. It alludes to studies claiming that if you have severe acne, you should topically apply your baby’s urine on it. I’d like a demo from Ms. Hasselbeck. Can’t tell what BW thinks when Sherri makes jokes like are you going to French kiss someone in Paris?
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:24 pm
There are few issues wrong with thecomments left. First of all why does being good actress make you a better person. And also I don’t think it was Barbra being rude I think it was Shirley being snippy with everyone I think she’s a little to full of herself and being a good actress doesn’t give you permission to be rude to others this isn’t the first time I’ve seen her be rude in an interview. Second I think it’s so funny that everyone liked Elisabeth untill she said she was a republican then everyone turned agianst you it just goes to show you why celebrities are afraid to admit there republicans for fear of being persecuted by the media and all the other mindless followers of mainstream media. I’m just wondering where all the acceptence of others is when someone doesn’t agree with you is okay to hate them and call them babies or does that just apply to us we think it’s wrong to have an abortion then we are being hateful and judgemental. If your going to believe something you be sure to follow it.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Thanks for the recap Winnie
I didn’t see the show, but will comment from the recap.
The cover of the N.Y. Post,
The message seems clear to me. If you smoke, your child is in danger of developing the same habit.
Shirley Maclaine. I like her, and have much respect for her her acting abilities. The karma stuff is too ..?..simply beyond my scope, I guess is the best way to put it.
I didn’t see the show, or watch the video,..however I believe if you have a guest on, whether you believe in what they do or not, they should be treated with respect. It doesn’t “sound” to me, like Shirley was treated that respectful.
Don’t know what the McCain thing was so..
As to the media showing photo’s of coffins of our troops coming home from Iraq.
Myself, I don’t need to see them to know that our young men & women are being killed, seriously injured, and the mental atrocities of war. .
However I understand that media coverage of them would surely raise the consciousness of of war’s plight.
I think it should be up to the family members of the deceased soldiers. If they don’t have a problem with it, then I wouldn’t either.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Christina:
I didn’t like TLB before or after I found out she’s a republican.
I’d be afraid too, to admit I voted for Bush not once but twice.
“I’m just wondering where all the acceptence of others is when someone doesn’t agree with you”
Sorry can’t accept or tolerate stupidity!
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:05 pm
I noticed that again Elizabeth was featured on the homepage of ABC NEWS, but about her reaction to the Britney baby photos. I know alot of people think this is ridiculous, but after last year the show being labeled “for liberal loons” I have to see ABC’s side of wanting to promote the republican voice on the panel.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Yeah, ABC should be proud, showing a woman in her 30’s sobbing on TV because she can’t get her way. That’s one step forward for women everywhere.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Re: #18 -
“Second I think it’s so funny that everyone liked Elisabeth untill she said she was a republican then everyone turned agianst you it just goes to show you why celebrities are afraid to admit there republicans for fear of being persecuted by the media and all the other mindless followers of mainstream media.”
Who is “everyone” that liked her? Was it people here?
I can only speak for myself but the reason I dislike her has nothing to do with her being a republican. I think she is a hypocrite, i.e. saying a person that cheats on his wife is not fit to be president. Well whaddya know - she supports McCain. I don’t feel she has an independent thought and gets most if not all her talking points from Sean Vannity. One week she is backing Bush, thick and thin, the next she can’t distance her or her candidate fast enough. I also don’t care for her on air personality. I find her voice to be shrill and her interviewing style is definitely lacking, and she tends to throw kiddie fits when she does not get her way. I also see her as the type that would step on you to save herself (Sherri, while you are massaging Bitsy’s knees, I suggest you watch your back!)
I also don’t care why or why a celeb chooses to not disclose their party. If they do and receive backlash then they obviously feel they can withstand the public response. If not, that’s their business.
” I’m just wondering where all the acceptence of others is when someone doesn’t agree with you is okay to hate them and call them babies or does that just apply to us we think it’s wrong to have an abortion then we are being hateful and judgemental. “
I don’t ascribe to the notion of acceptance of everyone. That’s silly to believe one accepts EVERYONE unconditionally. I draw a line and I reserve the right to personally decide what that is. If that kicks me out of some club or changes my label in life so be it. I’ve never been one for this whole categorizing of people across the board anyway.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:12 pm
No I’m not afraid to admit I voted for bush twice because at least he upholds family values and doesn’t believe in killing babies. Do you really think that you get even half the truth from the media, as if they even know the truth about the war. But people that are to lazy to research things for yourself just jump right on the I hate Bush ban wagon funny it started just in time for the upcoming election. I’m sure democrats didn’t have anything to do with spinning the media right. Try looking beyond the nightly news and you might just educate yourself things are rarely ever as they seem.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Christina says: No I’m not afraid to admit I voted for bush twice because at least he upholds family values and doesn’t believe in killing babies.
Try selling that to the parents of the soldiers killed in this war. Those soldiers will always be their “babies”. There have also been actual innocent Iraqi children and babies killed during this war. I’d say Bush has killed plenty of babies.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Thank you, ShannonP. Well said!
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:36 pm
One is not more important then the other. Unlike abortion war is sometimes neccesary aand every democrat asked about the war when it started agreed with Bush and now that they are trying to get elected they will give whatever the popular answer at the time is. Why did they all agree in the begining hmmm? We don’t live in a dream world were just because something is hard we don’t have to do it. If you know so much about this war why don’t you tell me specifics about what you don’t like and not just the generic response it’s all about the oil.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Do you think someone who is a liar to his wife can or will be honest and truthful in the whitehouse. Politicians have a reputation for being liars and also for cheating. We don’t know if they’re lying to us but it is obvious if they cheat on there wives they are showing they’re true colors. I don’t feel comfortable allowing someone who doesn’t know how to be a good person to run our country. There personal life shows alot about there character I’m not sure why so many people have a hard time seeing the correlation between the two seems like common sense to me.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:47 pm
The babies in Iraq are collateral damage that’s right! FYI I was against the war before we went in to Iraq.
“I’m not afraid to admit I voted for bush twice because at least he upholds family values.
ROTFLMAO! Let’s see divorces and suicides among our troops are on the rise, because of extended tours of duty and people being stressed. Those are Bush family values for you.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:50 pm
McCain dumped his disabled wife and had an affair on her. So I guess you won’t be voting for him.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:52 pm
I get my news from plenty of sources outside of the US. I highly recommend the BBC.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Nope your right about that I don’t like mccain he doesn’t seem genuine or honest to me. I don’t just vote for people just because there republican.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:56 pm
The bbc wasn’t what I was talking about. I’m talking about uncensored news such as the radio or internet. I think Glenn Beck is also a good news show.
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:07 pm
#29christina Says:
… the war when it started agreed with Bush and now that they are trying to get elected they will give whatever the popular answer at the time is. Why did they all agree in the begining hmmm?
We all know why they agreed. I think the better question is why do so many democrats ignore the fact that so many elected democrats signed onto the war. If the war is so bad why did so many democrats vote yes to continue it? Voted yes on the surge, that wouldn’t work. To fund FISA? Voted yes on the patriot act?
Anybody want to explain why the congress is doing exactly what they said they opposed?
…and not just the generic response it’s all about the oil.
As anyone knowledgeable abut war strategies would tell you, we didn’t do what one would have expected if it was all about the oil. If you are interested in what a war for oil would have looked like, scroll down to “No Blood For Oil.”
Interesting, since the democrats have taken control of congress, gas prices have doubled. Approval ratings are now in single digits for congress.
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Thank you Micheal finally someone with some common sense who just happens to have facts to back up what there saying. I will definetly check out that site.
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Excellent and heartbreaking point Shannon P.
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Stacee,
Let’s send McCain a map.

July 22nd, 2008 at 5:38 pm
christine you said your rpoud because at least bush has family values and is prolife but there must be and you must know many people who are porlife and about family values ( whatever that is) that you would not want to be president or even some with those credintials that would be a better president. my point is that
(good morales) is a weak reason to vote someone in as leader of the united states(my dad has even used this excuse)
but bush will soon be out and we are moving on but still do not get how having family value qualifies you for the job cause it kind of hard in an election where neither candiate has your values. anyway just a random thought
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:41 pm
i clearly can not type proud and prolife are the corretions there
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:44 pm
…suicides among our troops are on the rise,…
Scroll down to table 5
During the clinton years, 1992-2000, 2,014 military “self-inflicted” deaths.
Bush 2001-2006, 1,057 self-infl;icted deaths.
The link stops at 2006. The media is reporting that suicides are higher than ever, so even if we say 500 for 2007 and 500 for 2008 that’s not that much above the clinton presidency.
By no means am I denigrating the sacrifice these soldiers and their families made. I am pointing out that as sad as suicide is, it happens even for those not in war. Suicide does not discriminate between age, sex, race, religion, tour of service, etc.
This cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/figures/m635a2t.gif CDC link has suicide figures listed for 20-24 males higher than the war suicide rate.
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Someone should send obama a map of the united states.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws
Unless these are the 57 states he’s talking about.
I like playing gotcha… I’ve got tons of links to prove obama says things just as stupid as mcsame
July 22nd, 2008 at 5:53 pm
#37: Rain, good idea, lol
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Well not sure I understand the first part but anyway if you really think any politician isn’t saying what everyone wants to hear you are either niave or just dumb. We will see how much different things are in the next couple of years do you really believe they are working for you none of them do what they say they are going to do and believe it or not everything revolves around money and greed. No one given that much power will not abuse it if you think we are just going to have this saviour who fixes everything you are a little of both.
Second how can you even begin to trust someone who has no respect for life, who has been proven to be a liar to run a country expect him to be honest to you if you say yes you are crazy. You wouldn’t hire a thief to run a company because he has been a proven liar but as long as he is just lying and betraying his wife and family that doesn’t say anything about his character? Are you kidding you can’t possibly be that stupid. And no I will not be voting for either of the 2 main canidates because I will not vote for someone that doesn’t stand for what I believe in but there is always independent.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Says the person that voted for Bush — TWICE.
So don’t vote then. You trust your judgement and we’ll trust ours, thank you.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:07 pm
What?? John edwards is caught cheating on his wife as she battles cancer.? Well, at least he’s not the democrat nominee. Probably takes him out of the running for veep.
Shocked to see a reporter, and without saying anything, Edwards ran up the stairs leading from the hotel basement to the lobby. But, spotting a photographer, he doubled back into the basement. As he emerged from the stairwell, reporter Butterfield questioned him about his hookup with Rielle. Edwards did not answer and then ran into a nearby restroom. He stayed inside for about 15 minutes, refusing to answer questions
Democrat family values. Cheat on your wife and impregnate your mistress while your wife is suffering from congress. Priceless.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Oops… Suffering from cancer.
We the people are suffering from congress.

I’m sorry did I say I was voting no I don’t think I did you know there is a party called independent but they don’t usually talk about that in the mainstream media so you may not have heard of it. Only if your best judgement is an educated one. You can’t even defend your opinion.

NBC reporter andrea mitchell is spilling the beans on the obama tour.
Let me just say something about the message management. He didn’t have reporters with him, he didn’t have a press pool, he didn’t do a press conference while he was on the ground in either Afghanistan or Iraq. What you’re seeing is not reporters brought in. You’re seeing selected pictures taken by the military, questions by the military, and what some would call fake interviews, because they’re not interviews from a journalist. So, there’s a real press issue here. Politically it’s smart as can be. But we’ve not seen a presidential candidate do this, in my recollection, ever before.
Never before? Ouch. That’s got to leave a mark.
Is this the change democrats hoped for??

I missed something like a closing tag.
Thankfully your blog fixed it so additional posts will be okay.

“NBC reporter andrea mitchell is spilling the beans on the obama tour.”
Say it ain’t so!! The “liberal media” exposed before our very eyes.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:04 pm
“You can’t even defend your opinion.”
I don’t have to, nor do I have a desire to. But feel free to keep talking about the two candidates you won’t vote for. It’s certainly your perogative, that’s certain.
“Only if your best judgement is an educated one. ”
Oh I had enough educated judgement in not voting for Bush, twice, lol.

The Nationanl Enquirer and Glenn Beck … yeah, top quality news sources.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Spell check correction : should have been judgment
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Won’t or can’t? Most people don’t know why there against the war so it doesn’t surprise me . Thats funny I don’t remember talking about the two canidates at all except to answer whether I was voting for mccain or not you may want to read through the blog again and didn’t name anyone in particular.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Not sure how you can compare the two unless you don’t know who glenn beck is. But thanks for proving my point.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Beck is a right wing opinion guy; not a source for straight news. Unless you don’t care about facts and are more into sensationalistic garbage. In which case you might as well go to the Enquirer.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
This back and forth ‘gotcha’ scorecard rant is ridiculous ‘Michael.’ Politicians on both sides of the fence are deplorable liars and cheaters. Media has been accused of being completely liberally biased AS WELL AS Bush indoctrinated. Both sides accuse the other of wanting government interference and control. Both sides blame the other for our budget woes. This we do know, the BBC reports an alarming decline in favorable goodwill towards the U.S. since the war and BUSH. Former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s career went up in flames because of his association with Bush. To his great credit, he is in Afghanistan putting his money, and his own life, where his mouth is. How many documentaries have appeared on Iraq in the last few years? Watch one of them Michael. I know for fact that these soldiers, who thought they were going to fight for our citizens slain on 9/11, were horribly mislead. What are they dying for? Greed? Legacy? The oil problem came with Bush from Texas; you can’t blame a newly elected Democratic Congress for that evil mess. You need to listen to the hearts of our soldiers, so far removed from the press. They will tell, they would rather be IN IRAQ, at least there, they KNOW who the enemy is.

“The Nationanl Enquirer and Glenn Beck … yeah, top quality news sources.”
I was going to post the same thing. Glenn, Michael Savage, Vannity, O’Lielly, Rush etc. Liberal media, ha!
As for National Enquirer, typical of this rag to go after a Dem.
I happened to tune in Joy to hear Bits call in and attack Fran Drescher for questioning her crying jag. She was snippy as usual and Fran apologized to her on air, Bits didn’t respond graciously…surprise, surprise!

Which link do you believe is a glenn beck link?
Just because you don’t like the result of a “months long” investigation doesn’t make it not true. Let’s see what happens, they just published the story.
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Well Elisabeth has had a real newsworthy day. First Shirley Maclaine and just a few minutes ago Fran Drescher on Larry King (Joy hosted).

So they are right leaning. I don’t think any of them deny it, but none of them is in the main stream media.
Name the right-wingers on abc, cbs, nbc, msnbc, cnn, npr.
Officials at MSNBC emphasize that they never set out to create a liberal version of Fox News.
“It happened naturally,” Phil Griffin, a senior vice president of NBC News who is the executive in charge of MSNBC, said Friday, referring specifically to the channel’s passion and point of view from 7 to 10 p.m. “There isn’t a dogma we’re putting through. There is a ‘Go for it.’”
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/06/business/media/06msnb.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=login
Please note DeeDee I linked to the liberal new york times. No glenn beck, no faux news link.
The senior vice president of msnbc is admitting they are biased. So since the executive of msnbc says they tilt left, will you believe him.
When people talk about the liberal bias in the main stream media, it’s not that there is some big conspiracy involved, it means that the people in the media are democrats/liberals and share their liberal views of life in their reporting. It’s not a crime, everyone is biased by their life experiences.

” Thats funny I don’t remember talking about the two canidates at all except to answer whether I was voting for mccain or not you may want to read through the blog again and didn’t name anyone in particular”
Maybe you should read through your comments again:
“but anyway if you really think any politician isn’t saying what everyone wants to hear you are either niave or just dumb.”
“No one given that much power will not abuse it if you think we are just going to have this saviour who fixes everything you are a little of both”
“Nope your right about that I don’t like mccain he doesn’t seem genuine or honest to me.”
“And no I will not be voting for either of the 2 main canidates because I will not vote for someone that doesn’t stand for what I believe”
That certainly is talking about the “two main candidates” and why you won’t vote for them to me.
Like I said, feel free to keep talking about about the two candidates you won’t vote for. Knock yourself out.

Stacee & Sandy W:
I really appreciate you speaking up on this forum. The problem is some people refuse to accept the fact that the war was wrong, regardless of how many people voted for it or supported it. Suicides and divorces are up among soldiers who were sent to fight in this unnecessary war. Yes, they volunteered to fight and defend our country, but they DIDN’T volunteer to police a civil war and be sent to occupy a country based on the lies and distortions. Oh yeah, they throw things out there about Obama and abortion, let’s even add a does of gay marriage to complete the distraction… but it ain’t gonna work. Obama has been right from day one about Iraq and Afghanistan. The Iraqi PM agrees with Obama’s position and the rest is irrelevant. Keep your eye on the prize and keep talking about the issues. They’re good at changing the subject, you’d do it to if you had McCain as a candidate. I marched against this war , wrote letters against this war.. I wonder why the people who think it’s so right would rather post on a blog instead of singing up to fight in a cause they support?

Rain, back at ya
July 22nd, 2008 at 9:13 pm
High-5’s ranlillie as I come in from straightening up my Obama yard sign (had a thunderstorm).
I think more and more Americans are taking the blinders off and seeing truth and the lies. You are right keep your eye on the prize.

Did you notice that Sherri had her hand on on EH’s knee, like “It will be alright”.
I love Shirley, but I did think she was flip to EH. Who knows, maybe she’s irritated by her too.

Kelly,
No need to go counting bumper stickers. Throughout history people have had to display symbols as a way of proclaiming their loyalties with the ‘right-side’ — remember that symbol Hilter liked so much the swastika.
Bumper stickers don’t vote many people adopt their superiors’ political position so it makes it easier to get on at work.

Christina says unlike abortion, war is sometimes necessary. Are you insane? I’m sure victims of rape or medical conditions or whatever else brought them to the decision was necessary.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Thanks Sandy W.
Did you see the video of the troops cheering for Obama and the 3 point shot really got them going. I hope they take the time to discuss these developments on the View.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:09 am
Christina if you are so worried about the unborn babies, why not adopt one of the 500 thousand children that are in are broken foster care system in America. Or maybe take one of the foster care children, that are probably being molested or abused right now. While your at it, adopt some stem cells instead of any of the kids above, so we can keep medical science in the dark ages.
I guess your against universal health care as well, and not raising the minimum wage? So I’m glad you get to dictate to the single mom who makes $7 an hour, who can’t afford medicine what decision to make with her life. And least she has your moral backing.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:00 am
Asha-
Christina if you are so worried about the unborn babies, why not adopt one of the 500 thousand
So to have an opinion means you have to adopt? Why do you get an opinion if you’re not adopting?
foster care children, that are probably being molested or abused right now.
You understand the atrocities that happen to children in foster care and your solution? More government? Look, we already have enough children being molested and abused in the government’s foster care program. Do you want that to happen to more children?
And to ask a question like you asked…
If conditions in foster care are so bad why don’t you adopt one of the kids. Don’t you care what happens to children?
against universal health care as well, and not raising the minimum wage?
Again I’ll use your argument…
If you are so concerned about people having health care why aren’t you buying insurance for someone that need it.
How many people do you employ?
I’m glad you get to dictate to the single mom who makes $7 an hour, who can’t afford medicine
Yes, Cristina is the dictator of the free world and has the power to dictate what people do.
You know what makes america great? If someone doesn’t like making minimum wage all they have to do is become more educated or increase their skills set. People have opportunities in this country that you don’t have anywhere else in the world? Don’t believe me? Go to anyone of the borders and count the number of people coming in and compare it to the number of people leaving. In this country, a fat black female that grew up in poverty is the most powerful person on teev. Some people take advantages of the opportunities available in this country, some don’t. Their choice.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:06 am
Asha,
When I read your response I had to laugh it is so ridiculus and far fetched. I suppose you have some adopted children to or do not care if there abused and molested. Actually yes I’m planning adopting at least one child in the future I have 3 small children right now so it is not an option. Second no one should be making $7.00 an hour because it’s impossible to live off of that but raising min. wage will effect the economy and change inflation so that everything becomes more expensive and I don’t think that will help anyone. I also don’t think that extra $20.00 a week after taxes is really going to do a whole lot for anyone.
I think if we are going to have a universal health care it will need to be well thought out and not a spur of the moment decision because the countries that do have universal health care have waiting lists for basic medical care I don’t think anyone wants that and obviously if they are going to pay for everyones health care they will have to raise taxes to pay for it. So you will be paying for it in the long run anyway and most likely not getting the best care. I encourage you to look into that.
There is always adoption for a single mom who doesn’t want anymore kids and there are alot of families out there who would love to adopt a baby. It is not only a decision about her life it is also another life involved in that decision.
As for stem cell research I would hardly call our country in the dark ages of medicine right now but anyway. I am not against stem cell research but I am however against creating new life for the purpose of being a scientific experiment. They are other stem cells for them to do research on it’s just not as convenient as doing it on babies.
I think the United States has gotten so used to having everything be easy and convenient that if makes things easier no matter what it is they will do it without knowing the facts. Just because it makes things easier doesn’t make it right sometimes it’s the hard choices that make you grow the most.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:02 am
christina Says:
You made a lot of good points. I’d like to add…
As for stem cell research I would hardly call our country in the dark ages of medicine right now but anyway. I am not against stem cell research
Bush didn’t ban stem cell research, he banned federal funding of it.
Those that believe in it are free to do all the research they want. Except they have to get private funding of it. If it’s true that stem cells will cure all of life’s problems (a little hyperbole) than why aren’t investors lining up to fund it. The payoff would be huge. How much could a pharmaceutical company make if they developed a cure for cancer or some other disease.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:04 am
Michael: “Yes, Cristina is the dictator of the free world and has the power to dictate what people do.”
Yes people like her are very dangerous because they would take someone else’s right away.
christina: “They are other stem cells for them to do research on it’s just not as convenient as doing it on babies.”
Again while you play semantics about when life begins, vital medical reserach is being held back.
christina: “There is always adoption for a single mom who doesn’t want anymore kids and there are alot of families out there who would love to adopt a baby”
Honey your friend already answered that question for you:
Michael: “You understand the atrocities that happen to children in foster care and your solution? More government? Look, we already have enough children being molested and abused in the government’s foster care program. Do you want that to happen to more children?”

“Democrat family values. Cheat on your wife and impregnate your mistress while your wife is suffering from congress. Priceless.”
LOL!!! Democrats are not the ones that peddle the “Family Values” line, it’s the republicans!
Besides, Bitsy was the one that claims that married people that have cheated are not fit to hold office, yet now supports McCain. Priceless.
July 23rd, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I believe I said to let families adopt the babies not abuse them for 8 yrs until the state takes them away from you and then end up in foster care where they abused some more. Not the same thing but then you have to already know that you are just twisting words to fit your point.
I do not need a person to tell me when life begins I have been pregnant 3 times and have experienced how a fetus can turn into a beautiful unique child. I can’t imagine any of them not being here and having a chance at life. Each fetus is made with a distinct personality that deserves to be loved and nurtured by there mother not treated as an inconvenience. There are plenty of ways to keep yourself from getting pregnant even in these dark ages of medicine.

Miss you Aileeny.
Stacee, Winnie has posted a recap.
Yep, McCain cheated on wife and divorced her in such away that even made the Reagans upset with him.
Gay couple adoption is a totally diff subject. One that I am sure is gonna come up.
